I had been thinkiing about getting a security motion sensor light for some time. When the special appeared I had MAC come out and replace the existing light in the drive way with a motion sensor light. It works great.
Description of Work: I used the special for the motion sensor light. They came out on time and were very professional. I would definitely use them again for any electrical work.

Rob came over to install the sensor light and outdoor electrical outlet specials. However, Rob assessed a barn light would be more appropriate/effective for my backyard. Also he discovered I already had an outdoor electrical outlet and didn’t need one. He looked at my upstairs bathroom lights that weren’t working. He assessed it as I needed 2 new wall sconces. The staff was helpful and patient. His suggestion to help me save money was for me to buy the barn light and the wall sconces and he could come back and install both. He gave me a creditable place to purchase the barn light. He came back and did an outstanding job installing the barn light and the wall sconces. The prices was very fair and he also looked at possibilities of installing more electrical sockets throughout the house. But it is a 1929 house and would be a major job. Rob had a friendly personality and put the customers’ best interest first. I appreciate that! Will use them again!

They would come to the job whenever they got ready to come. I would call and they would give excuse to why the master electrician could not come. I would not hire them again if they were going to do the work for free.

Response from Macson Electric LLC
There were several times when we did show up for a scheduled appointment and the member was not there or the job was not ready for the electrical work to be done. With a remodeling job, the electricians always go last. All of the rough work should be done first for all of the other trades (building, plumbing, HVAC), the the electrical work gets done. The member was putting the cart before the horse on several occasions. The master electrician cannot be on every job. We do have more than one job on any given day because we have more than one crew. Our master was at the member's house on most occasions and we always had a licensed journeyman at the job site. Having the master on every job is like having the president of Belvedere Construction on every job - it's just not feasible.

See above. Not going to rewrite the story. Will not use Mac Electric again because of the lousy followup by the woman representative.
Description of Work: I purchased a Big Deal.....what a nightmare. Scheduling an appt was not a problem, the electrician was on time but not pleased with the outcome. We needed an outside elctrical box for the new hot tub we recently purchased. The worker who came out knew this, saw the cement slab where the hot tub was to be put. He installed an outlet but it was a 120 and it needed to be a 220. We did not stand there watching him work but assumed he understood. Not only did he install the 120 he installed it out of code. By law it must be 5 feet from the hot tub this one was less than 3 feet! When the hot tub was delivered, it could not be installed. We called Mac Electric back to get it corrected. When the woman estimator arrived she stated, "Who installed this? It is out of code! " Funny but it was her employee. We told her this and she proceeded to tell us it would cost over $750 to correct the mistake......... her company's mistake............ We argued that the 'out of code installation should be corrected by her and was promtly told it would still cost over $750. we asked her to leave. Will not use them again. Watch out for those Big Deals! You definitely get what you pay for!

Response from Macson Electric LLC
We apologize for your nightmare experience with Mac Electric, but a lack of communication from the customer should not make us the “bad guy”. The Big Deal purchase was advertised as an outdoor receptacle tapped from existing power suitable for exterior lighting or gardening equipment. It was not advertised as a 220 volt receptacle. A hot tub has its own set of rules and regulations for installation and requires a permit from your local community. If, when the appointment was made, we were advised of the hot tub, then we would have explained all of this over the phone and told you to request a refund from Angie's List. We would have then offered to schedule a free estimate appointment and given an estimate for installation. On a side note, a hot tub wiring installation starts at $800. I do not know why the electrician on the job installed the receptacle where he did, if he was made aware of the hot tub location. All of our electricians are instructed to go over the job and confirm location with the customer before proceeding. As for the lousy follow up, Debby met with the member to discuss the hot tub wiring installation. She said she would move the recently installed receptacle to the side of the house to use as the convenience receptacle – free of charge. A 50 amp spa panel needed to be installed no closer than 5 feet from the hot tub and a short trench needed to be dug to accommodate the piping required to meet electrical code requirements. Even if the electrician had installed the receptacle 5 feet away from the hot tub location, it could not be used for the hot tub. The member did not ask Debby to leave. In fact, he scheduled an appointment to have the installation properly completed and requested the same electrician to do the work. However, he did call to cancel the job the day before the appointment stating that he would have a friend do the installation for a cheaper cost. We advised him to make sure a permit would be obtained and he said he had it covered. We assumed we parted on amicable terms.

From start to finish, it was great to work with Mac Electric. The gal I talked with on the phone was excellent, and so was Rob, our electrician. He came on time, and installed a new exterior wall outlet on the front of our brick 1927 english tudor. Rob was helpful, did quality work, and was great to work with. Can't wait to put a few holiday lights out there this weekend. It cost $125 due to a special Angie's List deal. I thought that was a very good price and was totally satisfied with the result. Rob also gave us a quote on adding a fan to our 1st floor 1/2 bath while he was here. Fair price and walked me through our options clearly and easily. I'd gladly work with them for future electrical work.

I had problems with a dead circuit in my home. I couldn't track down the problem with my limited electrical knowledge. I called Mac Electric to find and fix the problem.Rob came out to troubleshoot the problem. He found some ugly homemade electrical connections behind a wood panel that needed to be fixed. He found the original problem as well as replaced a bad switch. He was professional and fixed things the right way. I would be happy to recommend them to anyone that needed electrical work

I couldn't be more pleased with the process. I had a couple of quotes prior to buying the Big Deal and knew that the price was more than fair. I was pleasantly surprised with the professionalism and promptness from start to finish. The lights look and work great and for once I didn't have to pay top dollar to get a quality job! Thanks!

On the day of the appointment, the installers called right on time and said they would arrive in 20 minutes, which they did. The room is relatively long and narrow, so we decided that it would be better to install 8 lights, instead of the original 6. (I had mentioned this possibility to the scheduler during my original phone call.) They carefully draped everything in the room to protect against drywall dust, and got to work. The job took about 2 hours, including removing the old track lights, and a careful clean-up. When I mentioned that we were going to paint the room, they thoughtfully suggested leaving the trim rings off the lights, so we wouldn't have to remove them and then put them back. The additional charge for the 2 extra lights was $160, which I thought was more than fair. The installers were careful, skillful, friendly and neat. I am extremely pleased with the entire process, and will absolutely call Mac Electric the next time I need electrical work.
Description of Work: This was the Angie's List Big Deal: 6 recessed lights plus dimmer for $599. The installers removed my old track lighting system, and installed 8 recessed lights, and 2 dimmer switches. (The 2 extra lights were in addition to the Angie's List deal.)

This was one of the Angie's List Big Deals...6 recessed lights installed with a dimmer switch for $599. It was exactly what I needed for my new living room. I bought the deal online through Angie's site then called MAC to schedule the install time. A week later they showed up and took about half a day to install the lights. The crew was very nice and consulted me every step during the install. I'm very happy with the result. Only two things that made it not perfect. They only had one option available for the dimmer switch which I didn't like. Also, they started to cut the hole for one light when they realized that a rafter was in the way and had to move it. That left some ceiling patching that needed to be done and I had to follow-up with some spakle/painting to fix it myself.

My husband and I were both at work, so my brother was there to greet Nick. I was given a window between 1-3 pm, Nick called about 1:20pm and he arrived before 2pm. By the time Nick was done, my husband and I were both home from work. Before Nick was ready to leave, he said he needed to vacuum and he would be done. We said that was unnecessary, but appreciated the offer. Great Experience, will use them again if there is a project beyond my husband's skill set. Nick was very nice and professional, even declined our offer of a cold pop after being up in our attic on a hot afternoon.

Workers (2) arrived on time, and were so quiet that a next door neighbor didn't even know we were having work done! Work was fairly straight-forward, and we were not aware of any snags or issues the workers might have run into. Once new panel was in place, workers worked diligently to identify what each circuit was powering, and wrote that info in the new service panel. The process of connecting and disconnecting the generator was explained AND demonstrated. Only minor annoyance was that some materials were left for us to dispose of.
Description of Work: Fuse box was replaced with circuit breaker panel, and an outside connection for 6 generator-powered circuits was installed. Also provided a custom cable to go from the generator to the outside connection. To bring house up to code: (1) the power line from the utility pole had to be raised to meet nminimum height requirement; (2) two 6-foot grounding rods had to be pounded into the ground and connected; and (3) some ground connections between pipes inside the house had to be made.

When I called to make the appointment, I was told that the cost to repair the nonworking outlet would be $75 for the first half hour and extra for each half hour after that, but most problems of this kind could be found and fixed within 30 minutes. When I asked about the cost of installing a new outlet, I was told that Nick would give me a quote after he was able to see where I wanted the outlet installed. I was told to expect Nick between 10am and 12pm. He was about 10 minutes late, but he had called me earlier to let me know he was en route from a location quite a ways away so as far as I'm concerned, he was right on time. Nick and his helper went right to work and in about 45 minutes, they had repaired the one outlet, installed the new one and had cleaned up after themselves. The final cost was actually much less than I had anticipated, and I am happy with the transaction. I will call Mac Electric the next time I need any electrical work done.
