Description of Work: The Mac representative counted plugs and switches in each room including basement and garage. Checked behind ac unit to make sure wire covered. They were. Checked outside cable to electric box, which was ok and not frayed. Check garage plugs and said may need to be updated. He mentioned codes ivory in every city but he wasn't familiar with our city codes. He didn't check any wiring behind plugs. That was it. A big waste of money to have a stranger go through the house carrying a clip board as if to give us a report of sorts but didn't write anything. I thought if you want to have electrical checked for safety that you call an electrician. I didn't like the fact of not showing visible picture identification. The business card he gave me is one I could pick up by visiting the company. Very disappointed. I called Mac with my complaint. He said the inspection was to check for extension cords, which upon arrival I told him we don't use them.9 The inspection doesn't involve checking wires behind plugs as shown in ad. He said he checked outside wire for fraying, which is main cable coming into electric box and very visible. He checked back of AC unit to make sure wires covered. I told him it was new unit from reputable company. He said that doesn't mean it was a licensed electrician. We got a city permit to have it installed. I said I didn't like him putting down another company. He apologized that we weren't satisfied and said there was nothing he could about it but offered to come out again. I said no because there was nothing involving actual electrical safety. As far as identification, he said his name and company is embroidered on his shirt. I said I could get on made as well and it's not proper ID to enter someone's home. He said badge ID gets in the way while working. I don't know how since all we did was walk through the house. He had a hard time climbing the stairs because of bad knees and hip, so even if he came back out he couldn't physically do anything. Oh, and he is Mac from Mac Electric and not an employee. We didn't have a home electrical inspection as advertised. He did say he showed me what the switch in basement was for washer and dryer turn off if we're away. When he was here I said we haven't used it in 14 years and at first he said it was to outside light but doesn't work anyway. Since no outside light I asked what he thought it went to. He tried again and said he didn't press heard enough and it did work. If I hadn't asked a second time, I would have gone on his expertise that it was broken. I don't know how these people get on Angie's List as I thought it was more reputable to homeowners. Oh, and we have a switch on furnace for humidifier and he tried to tell me it was a condenser. I showed him the water reservoir and he said, oh it is a humidifier. We covered all of what I've written and hopefully he recorded our conversation, which confirms my report. I also told him I didn't like his attitude when he was here. So for $89 what electrical safety inspection did we receive and at half price? What a joke of misleading advertising. A total rip off. I wouldn't trust any electrical work from this company. This couldn't even be considered a free inspection for electrical safety issues since I still don't know if we have any electrical problems.

Description of Work: The date is a guess but the experience is (along with the roof one) why I am renewing my membership. The lights in the garage (part of the house, under bedrooms) would not work. I had an electrician with the furnace company we use check the plug. When a plug was in that wall outlet, lights out. He took it apart, no problem. It worked for a while, but no more than two days. When I received the notice of a deal with Mac, I jumped on it. Appointment taker very knowledge about electric possibilities. The electrician took apart the "bad" wall outlet, no problem. Of course there was no lights either. He seemed pleased with the challenge. Traced it back to the switch....NOT GROUNED...he replaced the switch. I had no idea it would not take very long. The electrician asked what else I wanted him to do....he suggested a couple of things...did them...new wall outlet....gave me ideas as to the future work that would be needed. Because I had "time" left (20 minutes) he didn't charge me for the parts. Now that was a great experience. Thank you.

Description of Work: 4 lights installed and tested, fixed front porch light, fixed doorbell, inspected circuit-breaker boxes and overview of other lights outlets for safety. Answered questions and gave good advice. Nick was wonderful. I would ask for him again for sure.

Description of Work: This was an Angie's List coupon. I contracted them to install the ceiling fan. They showed up on time. They were pleasant enough. The job took longer than expected, cost $25 more than the coupon and when they left - I was unimpressed to find that they had installed the ceiling fan in a manner not flush to the ceiling. (most ceiling fans can be installed in two ways) Fair due - my fault for not watching more closely and monitoring the installation.That's my fault - but overall, I didn't feel as though I got good service.

She did a thorough inspection and follow-up with a phone call asking to come by again to confirm a measurement. I received a quote via email a few weeks later.

Description of Work: He was very professional and worked quickly and skillfully. Solved many of my problems in 1 hour. We had a recessed light repair and replace. He also put new electrical sockets in the house.

Description of Work: Guys showed up on time, were able to alter the plan efficiently when the original thought of mine proved undoable ( 12v DC instead of 120VZ), and installed the backup option quickly and effieciently. I am hiring them again on an expanded project to accomplish the original goal. Good, trustworthy people to sar. I'm waiting for another estimate on the expanded project, but I fully expect I will receive a fair and equitable bid, and a quality job.

Description of Work: We purchased installation of an outside electrical outlet. To disclaim my experience, I should share that I purchased a Groupon for this service and so I got a great deal. I purchased the service for my Mother, so the work was done at her home.

Description of Work: techican could not troubleshoot issue and I had to get another electrician to come out and repair and I was not given a full electrical inspection as promised I was told since the house was relative new I would not need one- even though I told them that there were several outlets that seems to spark when I plugged things into the outlet.

Description of Work: The electrician came on 8/27/12. He arrived in the time frame specified. The work he did was good. He changed outlets and switches and changed a wall sconce. After an hour or so he said he had to leave because of an emergency and would be back the next day at the same time. The next day I waited. After waiting past the time he said he would arrive I phoned their office. The woman said there was more work than expected to do at my home. I said that couldn't be. She said she wrote up what Mac and I spoke about. I said it was not accurate and on top of that she phoned me 3 weeks prior to the work being done to confirm what I was having done. Mac then phoned and said there seemed to be some sort of discrepency. At that point, I told him to bill me and call it quits on the rest of the work. I do not understand why I was put at the back of the line instead of the front the next day, which I asked. They said there were other jobs scheduled that day. So beacause he had to leave I go to the back of the bus. It wasn't my fault this guy had an emergency, yet that is the way they made it sound. The work I wanted done was exactly what was talked about, no more. Very dissatisfied. I will never call them or refer them to anyone.
