Terry and his crew refinished our basement and it looks great. Terry's communication with me was excellent. Whenever I had a question he would get right back to me with an answer. The quality of the work was also excellent. He and his work crew, Kevin and Russell were very dependable and hard-working. They always showed up when they said they would and consistently cleaned up at the end of each day. They obviously take a lot of pride in their work and it shows. Terry's other crew (electrician, drywaller, painter, and window-installers were all very good as well.) I would highly recommend You Got A Guy Construction.

Terry and his contractors were very professional. They were quick to start the job but went a little past the original promised completion date, just about a week do to unforeseen issues. All and all their work was good. Terry was very flexible with changes we made, which I sure were considered a lot. He was honest about pricing and even saved us money some places. I would hire him again if I had any more space to finish.

This by far has been the BEST experience we have ever had with a contractor! Terry was constantly communicating with us letting us know when they would be there and when they were done for the day. Everyone on his team was totally trustworthy. We would leave them there by themselves every day with NO issues at all (and, we have a dog!). The workmanship is outstanding; we get many compliments from friends and family who have seen his work. I would not hesitate to call him again and again. And, the price was right. He explained everything to us and the finished product was exactly what we expected. Terry and his team were very professional from start to finish. Extremely punctual, and willing to do the job quickly to our schedule. They were clean, on-time, and very polite. We had planned to renovate our huge basement (>3000 sq. ft) since we moved in more than 1 year ago, but it seems to be too large a project to tackle so we waited and gathered information and got us educated on the process while saving for the project. When we were ready to tackle the project in the Fall, we got quote from a couple of local, larger companies and also one from Yougotaguy. We only found Yougotaguy through Angie?s list and were quite impressed by the extensive, positive reviews Terry received. However we were somewhat reluctant to give this project to this relative small company since our main house was very well built and we don?t want the remodeled basement to look cheap. In the end we took the gamble by trusting the members? reviews on Angie?s list (and some of the larger companies wanted to charge $60-65/sq. ft for their ?average? quality plan which is beyond belief). The plan was to convert 2/3 (~2000 sq. ft) into living space with a nice office, a large guest bedroom with full bath (soak-in tub, nice shower), and ample space for kid?s playing area, exercise area and general living area. Terry helped us revise the plan and provided a detailed estimate and payment plan. The project started in mid-Oct and lasted ~ 3 months. We were pleasantly surprised by the professionalism Terry and his crew showed and the quality of work they performed. The carpenters, Russ and Kevin, are very experienced and top notch. The craftsmanship was excellent and they never chose to cut corners to speed things up or save cost. I don?t think the bigger company who wanted to charge $65/sq. ft has a better or more experienced crew and would do a better job. Terry and his crew kept constant communication with us regarding the project progress, were always there on time, and kept the job site clean and also clean up nicely after they are done for the day. Along the project we made changes to our initial plan and added a media room and an arched opening. Terry accommodated with these requests professionally and thoroughly discussed with us the different options. His crew spent a couple of days to custom-built the large arched opening while setting up a controlled area to control the dust during sawing and milling. Terry also managed his subs very well and all the subs performed their jobs flawlessly. He kept us informed whether/when a sub will come and would be there personally to make sure the job is done right. The finished basement exceeded our expectations and my wife and I (and our kids) cannot be happier. I was very glad that I was able to find Terry though Angie?s list and would certainly highly recommend him. In fact, we already decided to hire Terry again for another project in the very near future.

When getting estimates we were quite nervous and relied heavily on other reviews. When Terry came out for a quote he was very accommodating in listening to our ideas and also sharing some of his. The quote was very detailed and knowing we were on a tight budget he even broke out areas we could save money. The entire experience was great. Terry was great at communicating and keeping us in the loop with who/what was going on. We felt very comfortable with the entire crew and were amazed by their ability to create whatever we came up with (built ins, wine racks, custom snowboard countertop). The finished product has drastically exceeded our expectations. The craftsmanship and attention to detail continues to amaze not just us but also our guests. Going into this project we were unsure of what to expect and nervous about the financial commitment; having now completed the project we are certain we made the best decision by going with Terry,Russ, and Kevin. We will not only use them for all of our future projects but will continue to recommend them to all our friends and family!

All of our expectations were exceeded! Terry (the owner) was very professional. After our first meeting, he provided a very detailed quote. If there was any part of the project where there was a potential for additional cost, he told me ahead of time. Workers came as scheduled without fail. Now that the project has been completed it actually came in about $500 under budget, which was a nice surprise. The quality of the work is outstanding. Even the inspectors have been complimentary. The whole crew, including Russ and Kevin, have been very courteous and accommodating. The job was completed ahead of schedule. I cannot recommend Terry and his crew highly enough, they take great pride in the finished project.

We needed to finish our basement on a tight time line. Terry committed his crew to work late night to accommodate our time table. The basement was a storage area, and we appreciate Terry?s crew working around our stored stuffs. Terry worked with us on our original layout, and proposed a better arrangement that we did not realize before. One of the challenges was the existing duct work that could have looked awkward with suspended ceiling, but Terry and crew made it looks like it belongs with the drop ceiling, almost like an art project. As in any massive job, sometimes things go wrong (nothing that Terry?s crew did, the suppliers delivered wrong materials and parts). What counts to me is how they were corrected, and Terry did a superb job in correcting them. Overall we are very happy with the results; the basement went from a dusty storage area to the best living area in the house. The floor, ceiling, drywall framing/finishing, and paint job are as perfect as one can expect. The new bathroom is basically flawless; everything is where it should be with incredible craftsmanship on the tile work.

I first spoke with the owner, Terry, in 2013 when I requested a quote for a new finished basement. After getting a few quotes in 2013 we decided to wait another year. After getting some additional quotes in 2014 I called Terry back to see if he was still interested. After meeting with several contractors we decided to go with with You Got a Guy. Terry seemed to listen to what we wanted, added ideas of his own, and the cost was within our budget. The quote was also very thorough from the start (others were kind of vague). Overall the project was very smooth. We did run in to a few roadblocks (you HAVE to expect that), and the project took longer than we thought. However, this was not a big issue because we did not give him a firm deadline up front. When we did ask for deadlines for certain things to be complete, Terry made it happen. We have worked with several contractors on different projects in the past, and Terry was by far the best for several reasons, quality, attention to detail, and communication. Everyone from Terry's crew that we worked with was very polite, professional, and experienced. This is very important when you open up your home to people for several months. Terry recommended a few outside vendors for various items such as, cabinets, tile, and granite counter top. Each vendor we purchased from supplied quality products and all spoke very highly of Terry (which validated that we had made the right choice). Last, but actually maybe the most important of all. Terry kept in constant communication throughout the project, letting me know the current status, asking questions if we might want it this way or prefer another way, etc? The basement is now finished and we could not be more happy with the end result! I would highly recommend You Got a Guy!! Thanks to Terry and the whole crew for a job well done.

My husband and I are extremely pleased with the work that Terry and his crew did for our basement! He started the project on time and they were ready to get to work. The original quote was lower than what our project ended up being, but that is my own fault because I kept adding more design details to our plans. Terry was very flexible with adding on to the project. He showed us pictures from previous work he has done in order to get a better idea of what we were looking for in our home. He was so great at communicating to ensure our final product is exactly what we were looking for in our basement. We added extra shelves above our bar to frame the tv and we also added cabinets and shelving around the fireplace. The craftsmanship around the bar, shelves, and the cabinets is wonderful. They had to get a little creative on a step leading out the door wall due to the poor construction from the builder. They did a great job making the step and staining the wood to match the pergo flooring. They also added a bathroom in the basement. We are so thankful we went with YouGotAGuy Construction. They were extremely professional and did a wonderful job on site. They always cleaned up after themselves and laid down tarps across my carpet up stairs so they would not create a mess. Terry along with his whole crew were great at communicating the project details and how thngs were going. Terry often would schedule appointments with us late at night since my husband and I worked late. There were also many times I would just get home and his crew was leaving for the day. They would stay late and show me around the basement to give me an update on what they did for the day and to check in. It was all the "extra touches" from not only Terry but also his crew that made YouGotAGuy stand out. We will be using them again for ALL future projects in our home and we will recommend them to any friends and family! I am not sure I would trust anyone else except YouGotAGuy Construction.

He scheduled to come out over 1 month in advance and then showed up on-time and ready to go. The work was very thorough and he kept the mess contained. Used carpet protection too. Very personable and good communicator. I asked him to bid on more and he was very honest about being too busy to fit in his schedule, which is much better than stringing me along. Overall, trustworthy and professional and I'd hire Terry again anytime.

They experience went pretty well. There was only one thing that I could knock on them, they quoted it out, where you see a number, and at the bottom it said that it didn't include the flooring cost. I felt that was shady on their part, and they should have included the price for the flooring as well. It said that they assumed that it would cost this much for this many sq feet, and he also said how many sq feet we had. When I called him to ask him about it, he said he would get back to me, but he didn't. He was a nice young guy, who seemed like he was professional, but the quote was out of my budget.

Terry did an excellent job and always had great suggestions for minor details that really made a difference. Our basement went from a place we just used for storage to a fun place for the kids to play along with an office nook for the grown-ups. Terry was always pleasant to talk to and even did a bit of an extra push at the end to get painting done before a party we had planned. I'll definitely call him again when we want some more work done around our house.

Before meeting Terry, we had spoken with a few other contractors regarding our project. Most expected us to have a layout ready or expected to charge us to help us with the layout and planning. When we met Terry we had some basic ideas in our head about the layout. When we discussed those ideas with him he was kind enough to point out some of the logical mistakes in our plan. He listened to us and then helped us create an efficient layout (for free) that met all our requirements. Without his input on the layout, our basement wouldn?t have been as good as it is now. The quote he provided had all the details included in it. Prices for all the activities were spelled out clearly and there was no ambiguity or confusion. Scope of work, milestones and payments were crystal clear. With the quote he also provided a copy of his contractor?s insurance and a copy of his contractor?s license. The other contractors that we sought a quote from did not voluntarily provide their proof of insurance and license. Terry?s team was extremely professional and punctual and very polite. They worked on the project when we went to work and there was no disruption to our everyday life when the project was going on. They took care to ensure that the basement construction activity doesn?t create a lot of dust issues on the first floor of the house. Terry was very responsive whenever we had to contact him ? be it text messages or email or phone calls. He was always available to discuss last minute changes that we wanted to be made. He addressed any concerns that we had (and we didn?t have more than two or three) in a timely manner and to our complete satisfactory. All the work was done on time and was done completely. There were no loose ends. The quality of work was really nice and all work was done within budget. One of the city inspectors who came to sign off on the project even mentioned to me that he was impressed with the completeness and quality of the work done. Overall we were very happy with the work done. We recommend Terry and You Got A Guy Construction very highly and we also plan to have them work on some of our future projects.

You Got A Guy Construction was outstanding! So glad I found them on Angie's list. From the first phone call, Terry was very responsive, was here when he said he was going to be here (which is sometimes difficult with contractors), and knocked out the project in a timely manner. We we adding a new bedroom in our basement - he demolished a current closet that was there and built a new room from the ground up --- walls, closet, electrical, drywall, painting. He had great ideas - the room is fantastic and looks like a main floor bedroom. Our basement was remodeled several years ago and was never completely "finished" - he finished it and it looks fantastic. On top of a outstanding job, he had to work around all of our boxes, etc that were right near where he was working -- no complaints, he "made it work". He was also very neat with his work - cleaned up every day -- you never would have known we had construction going on. I truly was thoroughly impressed with his work. I would STRONGLY recommend You Got A Guy construction. We will definitely use him again. Another thing I like about him, he isn't "too big" to do smaller jobs - sometimes we just don't have the major construction jobs but we need "a guy" to do the job ! Terry and his team are great! Use them and you won't be sorry.

Terry ( contractor) and his assistant Kevin did an exceptional job. His entire trades crew were very skilled. Terry was easy to get ahold of, responded to any questions - concerns in a timely manner. He gave good advice and suggestions that I am glad I went with. The job went smoothly. They were dependable. The finished basement is just what I wanted and invisioned. Terry and his crew were very courteous and able to get the job done even with two toddlers running around. The doors that I had bought were the incorrect size and Terry was quick to handle the situation and get the proper doors to install. They took the time to confirm the details at the start of the project and any time there was an option on installation so that I could confirm the final look. Terry was exceptional in providing several designs and unique ideas as we struggled to create a functional and attractive space. Having completed several construction and design projects in the past with other contractors, there were several components of my relationship with Terry that I found exceptional: 1) He listened to my ideas and concerns - and, most importantly, acted upon them. 2) Terry and his crew were extremely respectful. Any project is disruptive, however, they never made me feel that they had taken over my house. 3) My email and phone calls were always answered/returned. Promises to keep me informed were always honored. 4) Most importantly, Terry always exhibited a high degree of integrity. I never felt that he was cutting corners or misquoting time and materials. In short, a great "Guy" and I'm glad I "Got" him!

We love out new basement!! Our friends can't believe how great it looks. Terry's attention to detail and work ethic make for excellent results. His work really is flawless. He comes prepared with ideas and suggestions that are affordable and practical. The guys working with him are also top notch. Terry has completed a couple small jobs in the past and this was the first big project he did for us. He is a pleasure to work with and I will use him again for my next project. Terry came to our home to provide a quote for our basement remodel. He was professional and punctual. In the end, we went with another contractor who came in with a slightly lower bid and seemed to have more experience with finishing basements.

I have owned two houses in the last 20 years and I really havent found a contractor (plumber, painter, general contractor, etc.) that I was completely satisfied with as if I did the work myself....until now. Terry and Kevin did all the work we originally discussed and even went above and beyond that. My wife and I felt they were always looking out for OUR best interests with their recommendations and they were very flexible when we wanted to make changes to the original plan.
