The Fabulous Mr Fix It

The estimate that I received was very high and was not even what I asked for. He clearly was not listening to me and did not take notes on what I wanted to have done. This was after he tracked muddy snow water through the house. He did clean it up with a paper towel after, but since he had also walked on a rug it was not much of a fabulous fix. Not even Comcast walks into a house with their shoes on!

I called today 1-22-15 and asked to see if they could remove a patio door and just frame it in( no insulating it, no sheathing it, no drywalling it or put siding on the other side as i would do that). So basically, just a removal of door and frame it in to drywall. its a standard patio door. I called them since my neighbor has used them before. The lady on the phone was nice and she had to call me back to make sure they did that type of work. She called back within an hour and told me they did and we went over everything. I like firm prices and not by the hour as some people will take a long time to do a 2 hour job and stretch it out for an all day job to make more money and thats what i felt about this company. They were going to charge by the man hour which i thought the hour rate was fine since i figured it would only be 2 hours. I was then told that the owner said it would be 2 men and an all day job which it would total to around $1,200 + materials. I thought this is a high price considering all i want was a door removed and frame and i would do the rest. I got other prices from workers that came to my home and looked at and gave me a price of $600 and less. I thought this company would be cheaper, but i guess not. They seem like they would be fine for very small jobs, but obviously not for this small project. Here is my update regarding provider response: " Any professional contractor would know that this is not a 2 hour job". This is what this service provider stated in his response and when i was quoted on the phone that it would be an all day job for 2 of their guys!!! I had a licensed/insured builder at my home who did this project, added some soffit to our exising soffit in the kitchen and he did both projects in 3 hours!! My total price was only $300 when this provider was going to charge me $1,200!! so this companys response is crap about it would be longer than 2 hours. so my whole point exactly is that companies that charge by the hour are going to milk a project to make more money!!! UPDATE: NEVER GAVE THIS COMPANY "A" EVER. I based all my ratings AFTER i called them. Also, I had one guy out here who did the project who is a licensed/insured builder and it took him only 3 hours and only $300!!! my whole point is made... they told me 2 guys all day($1,200)

I was very pleased with the service. He came out immediately and fixed the problem right away. Other companies had said they would have to tear the wall out. He installed a new faucet and now it works beautifully. He is paid by the hour, and when he finished before one hour was up, he offered to do anything else I needed done, including washing the windows or any other handyman service. I was so pleased that I sent him on his way before the hour was even up.

TFMFI did a great job. The owner came out the first time to diagnose the problem and his son came out the second time to install the new units. They were both very knowledgeable, professional, and friendly. They showed up when they said they would. We were very satisfied and would use them again. We thought what they charged us was extremely reasonable.

Went pretty smoothly though tech was a bit late and not particularly friendly. But overall the work was good.

We did not use him because we were in a rush and he was busy on another project at that time.

They were very professional and prompt. It took a day to return my voicemail but after that Jan kept me updated with status as to when the handyman was supposed to arrive. The person arrived at the right time and finished all the work that we had requested. The quality of the work has been good. Would definitely use them in future.

It was able to use an allen wrench and it get it started. Another vendor may have come and charged and arm and leg and could have taken me for a lot of money. He didn't. Because of that, I will certainly call in the future for any issues I have. Honesty is so important to me. Thank you for allowing me to believe in good contractors again :)

Another great job by these guys! On time, completed the task quickly, cleaned up, reasonable charges and great customer service.

If I could give them A+ in every category, I would!

They are my go-to group for household repairs. I love that I can make a list and just have them fix whatever I need, knowing what the approximate cost will be. Sure beats have to go to a 'specialist' for every fix!

I had a broken faucet that could not be turned off. Although I had to wait a full day for a return call, when the office manager called back she immediately apologized and explained the reason why. Although my plumbing problem was not an emergency, it was very urgent. They made a special effort to work me in that same day and the problem was fixed without difficulty. I thought the pricing structure was very reasonable. The repairman was courteous and worked efficiently. Will definitely use again.

I previously rated a different handyman all A's, but after working with The Fab MFI, I would knock the competitor down to a B on a few criteria.

They were here for three days. Their employees were excellent - careful, professional and competent. They fixed things that other workers had been unable to address. The cost was very reasonable for the work done. Communication was excellent and they arrived on time. I will be happy to use their services on a regular basis.

Very friendly and helpful. Kinda got lost in the system when further consultation was desired. Estimates for a bigger job were a bit more than we were willing to spend at this time. Great for small tasks.

the contractor,forgot name, was very professional but at the same time very likeable. I appreciate the office over communicating and trying to make sure no problems arose. The were honest about what the could and would not do and even offered referals to other contractors. great experience. Both with them and the HVAC guys they recommended.
