The Fabulous Mr Fix It

Their work goes by hours. They did the work really slow and it took a long time for them to accomplish so little. I asked to get the stain removed on the kitchen ceiling. They recommended to repaint the whole ceiling and it took them 6 hours to do a lousy job. There were a few pops here and there after the painting. They spent 2 hours on the bathroom recaulking and didn't have time for the entry door fix. Maybe they didn't know how to do it and tried to find an excuse to get away with easy work. Their work is way overpriced for more than $80 per hour. The old owner is semi-retired and the son is taking over. However, he is covering for his buddies for the lousy work. All their good reviews are probably from the old owner and their business now is going down the drain.

Great! Almost all the work was done perfectly. There was one little thing (caulking around a sink) that didn't look as nice as I would have wanted, but overall it was excellent service and excellent value.

Super easy to work with, responsive, friendly, good quality work. Liked that they bill by the hour so it is easy to budget. We asked upfront how many hours the job would take and they worked with us to get the job done within our budget.

Alex was a nice kid, but he made mistakes that caused the job to take three times as long and double in price, and the company failed to address these problems. First, he bought a bad part at the hardware store, and had to make a second trip. Then, he forgot to solder one of the new copper pipe connections, forcing him to have to redo the job. Then, while trying to get the lines dry again so he could redo the solder, he broke a second valve that then also needed to be replaced (in fairness to Alex, the valves in the home are clearly shot). He never could get the line to dry, so he had to make yet another trip to the hardware store to buy an expensive $60 sharkbite valve. Should I have had to pay full price for fixing something Alex broke, or for the expensive part that wouldn't have been needed if he'd done the job right the first time? The company ignored me when I brought this issue to their attention. Compounding these problems, the company did not provide an itemized bill despite threatening an additional fee if payment was not provided at time of service. Although Alex told me he did not charge for the extra hardware store trips, when I asked him to justify the shockingly high bill, it turns out he either lied or made a mistake totaling up the bill. I had to argue with him to get the price down to what he said it should have been. And it was only after I paid that he took the time to clean up the awful mess in the basement. All told, the job took 3 hours instead of 1 hour, and cost more than what it would have cost for me to hire a plumber. $300 to replace a simple valve. When I brought these issues to the attention of the owner, Alex's father, I was ignored for two weeks, and then offered a token $4 reimbursement, which the company has yet to send me 6 weeks later. Suffice to say I won't be hiring Fabulous Mr. Fixit again.

He was great. Knowledgeable and through. Cleaned up after himself.

I knew immediately that Adam Sr. was the kind of owner I wanted to deal with when it came to personalizing my "new" 1969 home which required some TLC. He is polite, hilarious, and genuine in answering questions and explaining things (including accurate pricing estimates) over the phone. The website describes a variety of skills his team has without having to hire a specialist like a plumber or an electrician. They have done fantastic work for me over the past three weeks. I am a single female and didn't feel at all uncomfortable being alone with Alex or Adam Jr in my dark basement. Very friendly guys with zero creep factor. Alex hung two TV's for me, one on a concrete wall in the basement and one on plywood that I wasn't sure I could trust to hold the weight. Adam spent the day with me, hanging a kitchen/garage door that he picked up for me, and fixing leaks under a laundry and kitchen sink that had been "repaired" twice before by a local not-very-handy-man. Receptionist Jan is friendly, knowledgeable and accommodating with appointments. Highly, highly recommended.

It was a bad experience all around. I do not recommend.

Calling The Fabulous Mr. Fix It was a spur of the moment request. They informed us that they would fit us into their schedule. Alex came within the hour, replaced the shutoff valve, put in our new faucet and cleaned up after the work was completed. We are very satisfied with the work and definitely recommend them.

They came within 30 min of the call and checked other areas to make sure there was no more issues. Acutually he found one more issues ready to leak and he fixed that as well.

Came exactly at time promised. Work done in a bit less than estimated time. Happy with work. I felt fair price. They had to do it on a what turned out to be a 90 degree day and did so with no complaints. Worked with Dave and a second man who's name I did not get. Even the ladder trimmed perfectly as it hits ground. Mitered the frame as well. A nice touch. Relied on Angie's List reviews before calling them and glad I did.

Work was done in 1.5 hours, which was what was discussed. Arrived on time and was very courteous

I keep using them and they keep doing it. They are always real good at explaining things. They are always friendly and personable. They always leave things clean and neat. They are good at communicating with me.

Excellent workers -- knew their stuff, solved some difficult installation problems, courteous and careful of the surroundings -- e.g., tarps on the rugs that they were walking on.

Very well!!!! Prompt, fast service. Very professional and did excellent repair work. Also helped me use the power washer I had rented from Home Depot and happened to be struggling with when he got there!

Adam explained that I probably didn't need a new rough. He gave me the reasons why, showed me that my goose-neck shower head was probably the reason I had an occasional drip. He was willing to do the work but didn't think it would fix what I thought was a problem. Very honest.

It went extremely well. Alex fixed the short in the wiring for the ceiling light and patiently put together the crystals for the chandelier.

Went well. No more leaks since then so far.
