 + 0 moreRob arrived on time at 8:30 and we went over my to-do list. He started with the most time-consuming job (redoing the caulk in the master bathroom) and worked his way through the list. He was courteous and professional and efficient--he worked almost non-stop for 5.5 hours. He moved furniture out of the way when he needed to and put it back when he was done. Everything looks great. He tested the smoke alarms after he installed them to make sure they were working. Rob cleaned up thoroughly (I think I saw a mini-shop vac!). I saved a few more things on the outside of the house to do later, since I will also be calling them back for some drywall work after we get some foundation leaks fixed in the finished part of the basement. Great job!

 + -1 moreThey arrived at 8:30am sharp and worked diligently at completing all the tasks. They were very professional and knowledgeful as well as nice! Rob sent me off to the hardware store with a list of items to repair my closet door, which he was successful in doing. Since the old hollow bifold door is no longer available, in order for all the closet doors to match, I would have had to replace them all if it could not be repaired. So needless to say, I was greatly relieved at his success! I will hire "The Fabulous Mr Fix it" again and I recommend them to anyone needing handyman services!
Description of Work: Rob and Adam completed several tasks; hanging mirror, changing light fixture, fan motor, towel racks, shower head, toilet clapper and repairing leaking faucets, as well as repairing broken closet door.

 + 0 moreAdam actually came out to give us an estimate on installing a ceiling fan and a few other odds and ends, but he discovered that copper the gas line that fed into the ancient dryer that came without our house was very sharply crimped and if jostled could easily have ruptured and, you know, exploded (this was probably inevitable- both the washer and drier both quite bouncy). Worth noting that while our housing inspector had noted that the dryer vented into the garage, they did not mention the safety hazard of the crimped copper gas line, so thanks to props to Adam for spotting that (and for thinking to look). Anyway, he ran a better, safer gas line through and also rerouted the exhaust vent for the dryer (it had been venting into the garage) so it vented externally, and installed the new appliances we ordered. Everything works great now!

The work is very nice. The price was lower than other quotes. I'll use them again if (or when) I have more work to be done around the house.

He told me what supplies I needed so that I could go to the store and pick them up, saving his time and my money, while he worked on the items that he had the materials to complete. The toilet proved to be a problem and it was decided that a new toilet would be needed. He said he would come back and install a new one once we purchased it.
Description of Work: Hung new blinds, re-caulked tubs and sinks, removed a toilet, hung towel bars and installed new sink fixtures.

 + -1 moreDave, who by the way is a very polite guy, showed up about 10 minutes late. He took the time to walk around the house with me and listened carefully. He left saying that he would have an estimate for me the following Monday. Friday came and I had not heard from Dave. I called the office and talked to the receptionist. She said that Dave had been extremely busy and hadn't had time to finish my estimate. I asked her to tell me whatever prices he had written down thus far and she said that she couldn't because...( nonsense followed ), but that she was going to call Dave so he could talk to me. She called me back at the end of the day and told me that Dave would have an estimate for me the following Monday. At that point I told them not to worry about it that I was no longer interested and that I've decided to go with another company. 9/07/2013 Update to provider's response: Very smart way to get out of it!

 + 1 moreI couldn't have asked for anything more or better. I was particularly appreciative of the advice to vent horizontally through the eves than vertically through the roof. It cost a bit more than my first option, but I'm very pleased I took Adam's advice.
Description of Work: The Fixit team installed Panasonic ceiling fan/vents in two bathrooms. They vent to the outdoors. The first builders I spoke with intended to vent the fans through the roof. Adam advised against that, as there'd be the possibility of water entering the vents and coming through the fans. Fixit installed "pipes" for want of a more accurate builder's term, from the fans through the attic and out the eves of the house. Said pipes are insulated. The vents on the sides of the house (one for each fan) are small, inobtrusive gizmos that lie relatively flat against the house until the fan is turned on, when they automatically open to blow moisture outdoors. Read: no bird or wasp nest building enticement. Tom the electrician wired the switches exactly as I wanted them, so all the lights in both bathrooms are independent of one another. I have more light than ever in both rooms! The Fixit team moved the master bath light switch from the bedroom wall outside the bathroom to the inside of the bathroom (1970s style, placing the switch outside the bathroom, methinks). I was tentative about that decision until Rob finished repairing the drywall. Absolute PERFECTION! There's no evidence that anything was ever on that wall, which is what I'd feared. All in all, it was flawless execution, all around. The crew cleaned up afterward, nicely too.

 + -1 moreAdam did a great job. The whole experience from start to finish was excellent. We called for an estimate, a time was scheduled from Adam to come out. He estimated the work, and it was completed the following week. Communication was great, everything was extremely timely. The work was completed in half a day, exactly to estimate, and everything works as planned. Wouldn't hesitate to work with them again!
Description of Work: In preparation of our new washer/dryer and laundry room sink Adam came out to complete the new piping, and tapping into an existing drain line. We also had to have a new dryer electrical receptacle installed, and a new electrical outlet installed in the basement.

Description of Work: We were redoing our master bath and had Adam come out to relocate some plumbing, install a whirlpool tub and Marbelite tub surround,install a shower tower, and install a marbelite vanity top and faucets. We purchased the Marbelite from Adam and he gave us a very nice price on the materials. Adam was very accomodating working into our schedule and was a great problem solver if something did not fit exactly or was a complex installation. He and his son were here doing the work except for sending one of his plumbers to do some rough in under our sink and that person was also excellent. I would not hesitate to hire The Fabulous Mr. Fix It again for any home renovation projects that might come up. He and his workers are honest and reliable and communication from his office was very good.

Description of Work: I had a list of things that needed to be done even though it was only around 3:30. Most of what I wanted them to do, they did, but there were a couple that they didn't do.....wanted to quit and didn't get my refrigerator leveled, and the lights in the cabinet didn't get finished. Next time I would make sure that they finish everything before leaving early.

Description of Work: I contacted this company by phone but they do not service my area. However the receptionist was going to ask a person who works for them if he was interested in helping me out as he lives in my area. No return phone call after several days.  + 0 moreDo make sure you ask if your job will require any additional fees from other contractors brought in by Mr. Fix It. Overall they did do everything very well so I would hire again.
Description of Work: Installed ceiling fans in two bathrooms. Did a few other smaller items like putting on new door hinges. I did not know until the second fan was being installed that I would need to pay a roofer $250.00 in addition to the $66.00 per hour senior citizen fee charged for the work because the job was not replacing existing fans but putting in fans where there had not been any. This ended up making the total cost more than anticipated and more than the original quote. The work, however, was done very well. Although pricey, I would be willing to hire them again.

But I think he strived for the safest solution, instead of the easiest one. He worked hard for 4 hours on a Friday afternoon, on a job made more complicated in my older home. Description of Work: My outside GFI outlet on the front of the house was not working. I couldn't fix it myself by the electric panel or reset button. The worker found that the wire had been cut inside the house. He discussed with me 3 different ways to fix it, then recommended runing a new line to the main box, as the safest, and would not overload the other circuts in my older home. The finished product looks good and my outside lights work.

 + 0 moreThey were great to work with overall! There were 2-3 technicians along with the owner of the company that came out, and they did a great job. The only issue was that the electrician never labeled the breakers for the panel, so I asked him to send those to me, but he never did.
Description of Work: They removed a gas line setting behind the stove, since an electrical stove was installed. A new line for the electrical stove was installed. They installed an electrical outlet behind a TV; He even helped me take the TV down then re-install the TV. They replaced a circuit breaker box, too.

Description of Work: He pulled out the old double sink to replace it with a large stainless sink. Though I purchased the same size sink, the counter top had to be trimmed. Along with the sink, the faucet and garbage disposal was replaced. Also, what lead me down this road was a new reverse osmosis system. He installed it and a faucet for it.

I hired someone to assemble the kitchen island, because it had to be put together well, so that the cupboards and drawers opened and shut well and lined up perfectly. He did an excellent job and was time effiicient. Very personable. As usual with assembly projects, not everything from the factory lined up as it should, or had holes drilled in the correct places. He was good at trouble-shooting and it turned out great! I would definitely hire him again, for any miscelaneous projects, big or small.
