I have never used my irrigation system since moving into my house; it's basically been sitting dormant for 5 years. I called after reading reviews on Angie's List and seeing their truck in my area. They said it would be about a week before I could get an appointment scheduled and they actually called within 1 week to schedule a visit. After setting the appointment time, they showed up early and stayed until the job was done. It was a lot of work to repair the older system but they did it quickly and professionally! I would defintely recommend!

Totally happy with the work. What I wasn't happy with was the final bill. I specifically told them I had an estimate to replace the existing system which would have included areas that weren't currently being water (city area of the lawn). If the cost to repair was going to be the same or more then a new system then I didn't want them to do the repair. They assured me the repair would be less but couldn't give me an exact cost. Though I was happy with the work, the cost surpast the estimate I had to replace the entire system which would have given me more zones and full coverage.

They showed up on the day we agreed upon. All work was performed correctly and quickly. They also have no problem explaining what they are doing and why. They will even education on your system as well, if needed. They do have a large appointment windows so someone will need to be home most of the day. Unless you request it, they do not call when they are en-route to you. The cost below is appropriate for both replacing broken heads and winterizing the system.

Called to have new sprinkler system installed. Lady answered "Too busy to come out". Nothing else offered. End of call. Not sure how they get customers with no offer of a future time, easily could have said 'it may be a month or two, is that too long for you'. So tough to hire anyone anymore. No one wants my money, I guess.

Customer is correct that he called inquiring about a new system install. Office staff responded to call but not with the abruptness as insinuated. Our office staff is trained to reply with: "Our apologies, but at this time, due to the number of service calls that we have, we are not doing any quotes for new installs. We appreciate your interest; and if we can be of service in the future, please let us know." The absolute last thing we want is to quote a job, get the job with required 50% deposit and then be on the hook for something it may take a month or 2 to get to only be considered a contractor that scammed a customer for taking money and not showing up as expected.

All repairs were done to our satisfaction. Although they had a very busy schedule they were able to accomodate our schedule. They did an excellent job of renovating the old broken system. They were very pleasant to work with and answered all our questions. I highly recommend the company.

There were lots of cut lines that needed repair and additional lines where installed for flower beds. The problem I had was I told them before they started that I had an estimate to install a new 11 zone system for $3200.00 and if was going to cost near or at the estimate for a new system I would just have a new system installed. They assured me that no was would it cost that that much. they thru out a price of maybe $2,000. The end cost was $2900. that doesn't included some additional heads added for $405.. I'm happy with the work just not the cost.

I used this company some time ago, horrible customer service and the owner is rude. I noticed that the company only responds to negative comments and doesn't thank anyone that gives them a positive review. Not once have they apologized or asked to take it off line in order to make it right. I've never seen a company do that. In addition, I gave them a negative review and when they rebutted, they totally lied. I would comment on it but I don't see that option here on Angie's List. There is too much competition in the area that do just as good if not better work. I would definitely not waste your time with these guys.

I WOULD NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!! I made the mistake of using Brooks Irrigation for spring start up and replacing sprinkler heads in the summer. The first time they came out I thought something was a bit off with the technicians as they were both rude and abrasive; however, we found them on Angie's List and had good experience with the recommendations on that site and thought they might just be having a bad day. We decided to give them another shot and have them out this summer to replace some of the sprinkler heads. They were supposed to come on a Tuesday afternoon but never showed up. I called the number provided and told them the issue, that I had to take off of work in order to be there during the allotted time. We rescheduled for another day and when the tech finally came out he was rude and told me that it was my issue and that they get busy so there is no way for him to guarantee they can meet the scheduled times. As the tech was leaving, he says to me " Oh, by the way, we work on the weekends so if you needed to work you should of scheduled it on Sat. or Sun." The suggestion isn't what bothered me, it was his demeanor in which he said it. At that point we had three different issues with Brooks, but because of my travel schedule for work I didn't have the time to look for a new provider. Fast forward to this fall, I called Brooks once again (which I should of known better) to have them come out to winterize my system. I asked if they price matched because I've seen signs around town ( Royal Oak) for a 45 dollar special through another company.The lady very politely said yes and that they wouldn't want to lose business over 10 dollars. The morning of the appointment, I get a call from the tech and he said that there was a discrepancy on the price. I then informed him that I spoke to the lady and she agreed to price match.........That's when the guy says " Well I'm the owner and I'm the tech coming out and I have the final say, not her. We've come out several times and do a good job, for Royal Oak it is 59 dollars and that's it!!!!" I explained the bad experience I had with the company and how rude they have been and that I will take my business elsewhere. I would never use Brooks again. I've moved around quite a bit and used different irrigation companys and they are by far the rudest and most unprofessional contractors I've ever used. The only reason I'm giving them 1 star is because there isn't an option for no stars

Customer is giving a false perspective of Company. The technician that customer refers to is the Owner of Brooks Irrigation. What customer failed to convey was that the customer was given a one-time courtesy discount on the first visit to their home. And it was told to them that it would be a one-time discount. The office staff member that answered the phone and made a commitment to lower the price for the second visit did receive the approval from the Owner of the company and is not in a position to make these promises. The owner was the person that called customer back and reminded them that we already gave them a one-time discount and that $59 was the quoted price on Angie's List and other advertisements and that if a discount is repeatedly given to one customer, it opens the door for all other customers to receive the same discount. Customer reacted negatively to not receiving the continued discounted price. Brooks Irrigation works 7 days a week during the incredibly busy time of start ups and winterizations. Customer failed to mention; and did not ask; that both her and her spouse work and that a weekend appointment would be easier for their schedules. We make every effort to work with our customers schedules and that includes staying on a job site after darkness has fallen to complete the job so we don't need to reschedule another come-back and further disrupt a customers schedule. Customer failed to mention that our express apologies were given for not making the prior scheduled appointment and that the reason why we weren't there was because we were at another customer's home that day completing repairs that are unforeseen; which put the crew behind schedule. Brooks Irrigation has since reviewed its policies on customer discounts and communication with customers if the Owner and tech are unable to make the scheduled appointment.

I don't want say anything bad about them, they finish the job, did a good job, I'm happy. It did take a long time they were really busy, it took a longtime. I don't want to say anything negative that would upset them yeah cause they worked very hard and did somethings that were very difficult so. So it was a lot of work it was almost a thousand dollars worth of work. I would like them to be more prompt in their response it was difficult for them to get it done in a timely manner because there was a big time lag between when I call and when they were able to come out and then they were back and forth but once they got out they did a great job.
Description of Work: I used Brooks Irrigation for lawn irrigation. They repaired a zone that wasn't working that was blocked and not working and then they basically rebuilt the sprinkler box put a new box in and put in a, move some lines because of some concrete work done.

Picked them based on A rating in Angies list, However the experience I had with them was opposite. They came first time and replaced 3 master valves without making sure the valves were the issue. Then told me there is something wrong with the wires going to valves and need to run a new wire. Net result: 2 zones still not working After few weeks back and forth with them on phone they returned back and this time ran a new wire to the 3 zones where they replaced master valves. While putting the new wire they short circuited and smoked the sprinkler controller and put a new one in place. So now the 3 zones were working which had the new wires and new master valves BUT the 2 zones which were working are not working anymore. Net result : 2 zones still not working (which had nothing wrong with them) Then they hand me a bill of $1200 for the work which has been done so far before they'll go any further diagnosis or fixing the 2 zones. and won't provide me any estimate of the cost to fix the 2 zones which had nothing wrong with them. Net result : After 3 months of back and forth with them 2 zones still not working and a bill of $1200 of which: 1) 3 master zone valves replaced - nothing wrong with them originally 2) Sprinkler controller replaced - nothing wrong with it to begin with 3) 2 zones not working - were working fine before I called them Now the $1200 bill is in collection. All of this bill is built up without asking me to authorize them of any amount of repairs or estimates, The guys are arrogant and will not have a logical discussion with you and will run a large bill on you quickly if you don't watch them and charge you . Tried to work with them to pay a reasonable amount but would not listen and want the full amount event though I'm back a square one with 2 zones still not working. Would not recommend them to anyone.

Response from Brooks Irrigation
The bottom line with this entire situation is that this system was installed many years ago. The valves that electronically turn each zone off and on are directly buried into the ground. This creates a problem for us when it comes to repairs. We have a wire tracker that tracks the electrical signal for each wire for each valve. With them being direct burial valves, our wire tracker, and the wrong wire having been used for the system, picks up signals from all around the yard with no indications as to where the valves are located. So to say that zones 2 and 4 of a 5 zone system were not coming on is a questionable statement. We were able to successfully locate valves for zones 2, 3 and 4 which were replaced and placed into a valve box for easier location for future repairs. We were never able to locate the valves for zones 1 and 5. The system had wires ran with a CAT 5 wire which is not strong enough to support the electrical current of the irrigation system. Mr. [Member Name Removed] may be an engineer, but he insisted that there was nothing wrong with using CAT 5 wire and we challenged him, and provided phone numbers, to call both Rainbird and Hunter Customer Service and support technicians and ask the Manufacture of the system what their wiring recommendations were. If the controller worked at some point, using the wrong wire, when I started to repair things according to Manufacture's recommendations, yes, it did indeed cause the old controller to become inoperable. I base my business on being honest and will at all costs, correct problems to insure that when I leave a job, there are not going to be additional issues with the system. Mr. [Member Name Removed] would like to insinuate that we double invoiced him for labor charges and for valves and a controller that was not necessary. Because this property is a rental income property for Mr. [Member Name Removed], he was never onsite as the repairs were being made and problems were corrected. When we suggested to Mr. [Member Name Removed] that we run the new wire band to the valves that were recommended by the manufacturer, we placed the wire exactly where he wanted to place the wire. The fact that his lawn maintenance crew cut the wire after his direct order for placement is not our fault. When we told him that being an engineer he could track the wires for the location of valves 1 and 5 in an effort to be more cost efficient, our suggestion was ignored. The simple truth to this situation was that I never do any work without the approval of the homeowner. All of the issues were conveyed to Mr. [Member Name Removed] at the times we were there and he gave us the approval to correct the issues. It was only after receiving the invoice for 1240.00 that he complained about the work that we had performed and the charges for labor was disputed; and refused to pay for anything that we had done knowing full well that he had given us the authorization to fix the issues.

I called Brooks Irrigation to come service my sprinkler system. They said they would call me back in up to 10 days to let me know when they are able to schedule me an appointment. When they called me 12 days later they said they could come out 2 days later. On our scheduled appointment date, no one called or showed up. When I called them the next day, in the afternoon, they said they were dealing with another customer and were not going to call me so late. They also said would I like to schedule another appointment a week later. I consider this very dismissive and inconsiderate. No thanks.

What Ms [Member Name Removed] failed to mention was that we were at a job that was scheduled that day right before hers. This job had more repairs than we were anticipating. So much so, that we were at the customer's home completing the job in the dark with headlights from our truck and flashlights. Our belief is that a lot of customers have to make special arrangements for accommodating our appointment times, and in doing so - if at all possible, we will complete the job 100% so that our customers are not inconvenienced with rescheduling a come back. We did sincerely apologize to Ms. [Member Name Removed] for this situation. It doesn't happen often, but in this case it did.
