Your final charges came to $1270 so this was within the figures you had been quoted prior to your move. We're very competitive and have some of the lowest hourly rates in Michigan. You had a moving crew of 5 men who completed your job in 7 hours. You were also offered our cash discounted rate of $177.50/hr rather than $212.50/per hr. You saved a total of $233 by taking advantage of the discount we offered you. Having said that, I'm sorry that you were not entirely satisfied with our prices. However, I am pleased to hear that you were satisfied with our hard working movers. Thank you for taking the time to share your experience!

They movers were on time to my first location. Moved furniture from a house, a condo and dropped it off at a different house. They made sure I had everything where I wanted it. They made sure to take care in all my things. Helped me put felt pads on everything that was going on the hardwood floors. I would us them again. This is the second time I have had them move me.

The move went ok, they broke a cheap mirror, did it faster than quoted. The billing department was where I had an issue. They charged me $85 more than they invoiced me. When I called to ask about it they were very rude and said that the charges were legit, but they missed them when they invoiced me. I told them that you should call and tell me before tacking on charges, I had already signed a receipt for one price, then my card was charged more. Going over the charges, they seem legit, but that's not the point, they were rude and shouldn't be adding on charges after the fact. I accepted a a partial refund ($35) of the difference because I was sick of going back and forth with them, and filed a complaint with the BBB.
Description of Work: Was supposed to be a pack and move, but they quoted a move only. I didn't notice until it was too late, so we were scrambling to find packing materials. The movers adjusted well the the change.

Dear Customer, As I stated in my emails to you, I apologize if you thought I was rude. Our entire conversation was via email where sometimes the tone of the conversation can be misconstrued. I was simply explaining your concerns to you. We emailed back and forth for quite some time yesterday and the sole complaint was the small difference in price; a broken mirror or any other concern was never mentioned. When our estimators are gathering information from you we are going over a lot of information. This is why we email/mail it to you so that you can review your quote to make sure we are providing all of the services you are requesting. However, as you mentioned, we adapted to the change and completed your move to your satisfaction and you were happy with the movers yet you rated the quality of our service with a "C". You stated in your review that the movers completed your job cheaper than the quote yet again, you rated us with a “C” for the price. The billing issue arose when the movers made a mathematical error when calculating your final charges the day of your move totaling approximately $80 less than what you should’ve been charged. This happens occasionally, especially after the men have been laboring for many hours. Included in the undercharged amount was the 2.5% ($37) credit card processing fee. Although, it is stated right were the customer signs that it will be included. Typically, we will notify the customer prior to processing a different amount, but we have a new receptionist and that phone call was overlooked. The same day your concerns were called in I immediately emailed you a breakdown of the charges per your request and then explained all of the charges to you via email. In the end, I refunded you for the 2.5% processing fee. I acknowledged and handled your concerns the same day, yet you rated us with a “B” for responsiveness. Again, I apologize for the mathematical error. Rest assured, you were only charged for the actual time it took to complete your job + any materials used. Regards, Christine O’Sullivan

The men were slow and made inappropriate comments to me, about me (I am a single woman), they cursed in front of my child, they were SLOW, and expensive and required cash. i called the owner about the price (went well over the estimate) and he was unbelievably rude. it was an AWFUL EXPERIENCE.

Since your move that employee has been terminated. We do not approve of that type of behavior and want our customers to feel comfortable with their mover. In regards to the price, we only charge for actual time and materials. We provide an estimate based upon the information we gather from the customer during the initial estimating process. Sometimes we arrive and there is more or less than the estimate, but again, you are only charged for the actual time to complete your job. You also stated we only accept cash. There may have been a miscommunication. We also accept any major credit card. However, during different times of the year we offer a cash discount. Debbie created my estimate by having me go through each room in the house and telling her what I would be having moved. It was very efficient. O'Sullivan provided me with boxes at a 50 percent discount. They sure came in handy! The company kept in contact with me from the initial estimate, right up to my moving day. The movers came right on time (simultaneously) to both my house and to the storage unit where the desk and credenza were located. I was very impressed by that. The movers came in the house and went right to work. They went above and beyond to move and protect my belongings. When the second truck (with the desk and credenza set) came to the house, they worked in concert with the pair that came with the semi. It took two and a half hours to load and roughly the same to unload. The crew, led by Zee, was very nice and informed me when they were taking a break. Nothing was damaged and I was very pleased. Everyone I dealt with at O'Sullivan was kind and professional.
Description of Work: They moved me from my old house into my new home and made an additional stop to pick up a desk and credenza set.

The movers (Ryan and Eric) arrived at 9 and were ready to go! They were professional and courteous and did not waste anytime getting to work. To save on cost, I had moved most of the boxes to the driveway for the movers to have easy access and I took apart most of the bedroom furniture. The entire house was loaded onto the truck by 11:30ish. The movers headed to Livonia and took a quick lunch (unpaid by us). It was a downpour when they arrived to Livonia, but it did not stop them from working. I had all of the boxes moved into the garage and instructed them on where the furniture was going. The whole move in process took about 2 hours. Nothing was lost and nothing was broken. Overall it was a positive experience and they were resonably priced compared to the other 3 qoutes I received. If I were to ever need a moving service, I would use them again.
Description of Work: Helped us move from Allen Park to Livonia. We left the appliances behind, but they moved the boxes, treadmill and the rest of the furniture.

Great! This is actually our second time moving with O’Sullivan. When calling for an estimate, it's important to walk room to room and describe all the furniture you are moving. The more details you can give, the closer your estimate will be. Our estimate was actually $922, give our take, and our final bill came in right at $922. On the day of the move, we had a one hour window of when the movers might arrive. They arrived during the window and got right to work. Three people, it took around 6-7 hours for the entire move. Everything was moved with care, even our upright piano and flatscreen TV. Nothing was broken. The movers were professional, but also good guys that I enjoyed chatting with during the move. While I have no intention on moving again (we bought our and quot;foreverand quot; home), if we ever do, we're using O’Sullivan again. We also recommend them to friends whenever we can.
Description of Work: We moved from our home in Novi to our new home in Canton. We had a 3 bedroom ranch in Novi, no basement. Our move consisted of 3 bedrooms of furniture, living room, family room, dining room, kitchen, plus a ton of boxes. We moved in to a two story colonial with a basement.

We used O'Sullivan's 15 years ago for a move and was very happy with their service then, but with the advent of Angie's List (and some comments left by other people), I thought I would shop around some for the move to our new home. I spoke with several companies and most were responsive, but in comparing apples to apples, came out quite a bit higher than O'Sullivan's. In the end I trusted my own previous experience and the price and again was not disappointed. The guys worked fast and hard despite it being about 90 degrees. They were very accommodating with my requests. All the people at the office who handled my multiple phone calls and questions were friendly and professional.I am going to hire them again in the winter to do some inside moving of large items which was a service I did not know they offered previously.

The person that came to house and gave me low estimate seemed very nice/professional, so that's why I let my guard down. When the crew showed up at the house everything went very bad.
Description of Work: DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!! I moved from a house in Birmingham to a 3bdrm apt in Bloomfield Hills. Their estimate was $366 - $522. Then, once all furniture was in my apt they gave me a bill for $950.00 and demanded full payment - office was closed at the time. I drove my own car from my house to my new apt and waited 2 hours there for the truck to show up (it's about a 10 min drive). I asked where they went and they said to lunch (they never told me that when we left the house and I didn't think to ask for the drivers cell number - office was closed at the time). Once my furniture was moved in I noticed that a leg on queen ann recliner was broken and glued back (covered glue with wood color so I couldn't tell until later). Antique love seat underneath was busted and pushed back in to hide damage - fell down later when my daughter sat on it (rarely used). My wood file cabinet joints had also been glued and colored. I guess that's what they were doing during "lunch" - they must have boken it putting it in the truck and then glued/colored and let dry before arriving. I called the company twice, got their voice mail, left message and they never called me back. I'm still thinking about suing in court.

Considering this relocation took place approx. 1.5 years ago I can only review the information on the paperwork we have on file. The moving crew would certainly not recall the events from that time period. After reviewing your estimate I would like to point out a few things that caught my attention. You stated that you felt comfortable with our company because of the professionalism of our in-person estimator that came out to your residence. We did not send anyone out to your residence. You were provided a quote over the phone based on the information you provided to our specialist. Also, the final estimate shows the starting time, lunch break, and finish time. The movers took a 20 minute lunch break not 2 hours. If there should be any type of damage our movers know to make a notation on the paperwork and the office would take the necessary steps to investigate any claim and come up with an amicable resolution. The movers that were on this relocation have been with our company for many years. The crew leader has been with us for over 20 years so they are all familiar with the proper protocol. You were initially given a 2 man estimate. I see that we had to send 3 men out in order to expedite your job and I can only assume that this was due to there being more items to move than initially estimated. Had we not sent out the 3rd man this job would have taken more time. We are only as accurate with our estimates as the customer is accurate with providing our estimators with the information needed. Due to the fact that we had initially provided you with a 2 man estimate and sent 3 men you were not charged for the 3rd man Travel Time, only the 2 man Travel. The labor was based on our 3 man rate. There is no disadvantage to having 3 men it simply expedites your move. This relocation took place on Friday, November 5th, 2010. Our office hours are and have always been Mon-Fri 9am-5pm and Saturdays 9am-2pm. We were definitely open for business while this move was taking place and this is the first time I am hearing any concerns from you. I don’t have any record of any messages or claims opened in your name. Our family has been providing relocation services for 30 years and is always striving to find ways to improve our business. We are an Accredited Member of the Better Business Bureau with an A+ rating. If there are ever any concerns regarding our services we try to handle them with our prompt attention and a resolution to ensure customer satisfaction. O'Sullivan did an excellent job of moving my belongings to a new condominium. The movers had to transport everything well over 300 feet according to my condo association rules, including at least 220 feet through the low-clearance underground garage to my unit, and they did so graciously and uncomplainingly. O'Sullivan had estimated 4 to 5 hours at a cost of $418 to $528 based on my inventory of furniture and 70 boxes, but the furniture and boxes were relatively small, and the movers finished the entire move in about three hours, moving very quickly and not stretching out the time. The final cost, including a weekday cash payment discount, was only $297. Even my finicky condo association was impressed.
Description of Work: The movers emptied a 10' x 15' storage unit and transported all contents to a condominium about four miles away. They moved items hundreds of feet, about 60 feet from the storage unit to the truck, and then on arrival, at least 220 feet through an underground garage, up an elevator, and then through a hallway, around a corner, into my unit.

It was a great experience. It took about 5 hours total with not a minute wasted.
Description of Work: They moved me from a house to a 2nd story apartment. They arrived punctually, were extremely efficient in loading the truck and in moving goods into my apartment at the other end. They even went out of their way, nailing some bookcases that were lose and other little extras. Very nice, polite and very positive.

Do not recommend. I was given an estimate by the owner of the company after thoroughly explaining everything I needed moved. I was in a 1000 sq. ft. home and I had moved many boxes myself. When job was done it took them almost DOUBLE the time it should have and cost me nearly DOUBLE the quote. Also, some of my furniture was damaged. (The ONLY positive is the movers were nice guys, good to work with). Additionally, the wardrobe boxes they provided for our use smelled strongly of cigarette smoke. Obviously, these are kept on the truck where the passengers/driver are smoking. I was concerned that my clothes would smell from being in the boxes. Not good. The worst part is my husband called numerous times to discuss the discrepency in cost as well as the furniture damage. After the job was done, the owner was never available to take our calls, nor were our calls returned (until we wrote a letter threatening further action). Once the owner did call back, his attitude was pretty much "oh well." They would not stand behind their initial quote, and even told a few lies in regards to how the move actually went, claiming we had more boxes than we stated initially (not true) and that the movers had to fix some of our furniture (not true). They also used the bad weather (ice, snow) as an excuse which, in my opinion, a moving company working in Michigan needs to be prepared for. After writing a letter and disputing through our credit card company, there is not much more we can do. We are left with a huge bill and a broken dresser and no recourse. This company is a rip-off.
