The porch was built to my speciation's, the foundation, brick work and new steps are beautiful and I rec'd a 10 year warranty on all the brick work. However, the cement they used to pour the porch pad was cheap (I actually heard the owner tell his associate to call the more expensive place in the future). After the cement dried and the frames were removed I ended up with large holes about the size of my fist (where you could see all the rocks used in the cement mix) in several areas along the sides of the porch where the frame had been. I was very upset considering the price I paid. They came out on a Sunday and applied concrete to the sides to cover the large holes telling me the concrete would lighten and eventually be white like the top of the cement pad. Will that didn't happen. It's been a year and the sides repaired with the concrete are still a dark gray when the top is white. However, that's not all. the top of the cement pad is chipping and flacking off, each day it gets worst, by the end of summer it should look like an old cement pad showing all the rocks that had been under a smooth flat surface. The new porch is only a year old. My cement driveway that was poured 10 years ago look better. Unfortunately the cement work wasn't covered in their warranty. I wish I would have had them replace it last year, but I had no idea that the top of the cement pad would start chipping and flaking away so soon.
Description of Work: Demoed existing porch and built new porch, Built inner wall foundation using 4 in hollow cinder blocks, built outer wall using Barkfare orange blend brick to match 80% of original brick color of home. Poured pad on top of new brick foundation and installed steps.

Dear Angie's list customer, You have reviewed the wrong company. We always guarantee our products/workmanship. I searched all my records and didn't find your project in them. In my travels today I stopped by your project, left a card and note. I advise you to contact an attorney if the company that did this to you is licensed. The job has several violations and they are required to fix them. 1st violation is the steps, the code is equal risers in between 4" and 8" within a 1/4 inch. 2nd violation is the step into the house has to be within the 4" and 8" rule, you have 3" and less than 3". 3rd violation any cap above 2' has to have a rail, you have approximately 3'6". We would be glad to help you solve your problems if you can't contact the company that did this to you. Thanks, Sean Harrington President D&S Masonry, Inc. 248-431-3517 cell

They showed up on time and just went to work. They had to replace some of the bricks of the outside of the chimney and the guy actually drove two hours to find some white bricks and it actually had a pleasing look when he was done with it. If I had more chimneys, I would have them come back again and again.
Description of Work: We've used Brick Concepts LLC for masonry work. They also did some chimney repair.

I couldn't have been happier with Jordan's work on my home. He and another gentleman ground out the old mortar from the brick columns and tuck-pointed them from top to bottom. Jordan was diligent, responsive and very professional. Though not included in my quote, he went above and beyond the original statement of work and helped with the step. I highly recommend Brick Concepts and I fully intend on using them in the future.

Company did a VERY good job with the repair, not sure it looked that good when it was originally done. Would definitely recommend. Went out of their way to make sure they matched the original color so it blended in with the rest of the wall...

I called the number listed on Angieslist.com and it took them 2 days to call me back. I was told it is because each individual technician receives the messages from a central dispatch and they aren't always as responsive as they should be. Robert Morris was the employee I worked with through the whole project and he was wonderful. He was the one to call me back, not some receptionist. He scheduled an estimate (free) and HE showed up at the house on time to let me know what would need to be done. The price wasn't any higher than anyone else I had called and he ended up slightly over-quoting me on the job because he didn't need to do everything he originally anticipated. Once we had a solid price set, I decided to let them do the work. It was a good decision. The crew started within about 3 days and they worked hard to get it done. From start to finish it took them about 4 days total to make my basement look like nothing had ever happened. Robert was there every step of the way. The crew that poured the wall was also very professional and courteous. I came over while they were building the forms and they introduced themselves and showed me what they were doing. Robert contacted me every day with updates and to let me know when workers would be at my house and when they left. This is a rental home that I don't live in so it was nice to know when people would be there and when they would leave. The end result was AMAZING. The basement looks perfect, the job is flawless and I have no doubt that it will last a lifetime! I can't express how grateful I am to Robert and his team for fixing this problem. They did an incredible job and I will not hesitate to have them come back and do some block windows or chimney repairs which will have to be done in the next couple of years. I know who my "cement and masonry guys" are from now on and I plan on referring them to everyone I know. Thanks Robert!

I was happy enough with their work that I had him come back and do some other stuff. Tuckpointing, brickwork, chimneys and things like that is his specialty and he seems to do it pretty well. We talked about doing some cement work outside of my house where I got a sidewalk. It's up next to my house and it kind of shifted with time, so instead of it sloping away from the house it's coming into the house. He offered to come out and do it. He actually quoted the job, but I didn't have him do it because I don't have the time or the funds at the moment. It's something that I may still have him come out and do. He did do the tuckpointing because my house was old enough where there were some separation of the mortar joints and some of the brick work. The first thing he did was go around the whole house and found where those spots were. He pointed them out to me and we agreed to a price. The way he operates is that he does some of the work, but he also hires some other contractors. He's kind of like a general contractor, but he also does a substantial amount of work often times himself. He must get two, three or four jobs going at once and kind of circles between them. He comes and checks on these people that he's brought in to do it. The people that he had come do it did their job and were okay. It's very hard for me to compare them, but the fact that the job got done to my satisfaction is what actually made it okay by me. I thought he did a quality job. He was good and liked to reach out to me. There was one time where he was scheduled in and had to call me to let me know he had something else going on or were going to be late and that he was coming the next day. I was okay with it because I wasn't in a rush, but had I been in a rush that would've been a bit of a rub. I don't think any other contractor is any different and I think he handled it like anybody else would. He probably had some other job that went over or something and just called me and said that he needed to come and do it later. We kind of had things worked out in advance and I told him to get here when he could, so I wasn't pushing him to be super punctual. Had I said you had to be here at like 8:00 because I wanted to get him started because I had to leave I think he would've been punctual.
Description of Work: I purchased a "Big Deal" from Brick Concepts LLC, but the price went well beyond the deal because he also did some tuckpointing around my house and things like that which all got combined into one bill. He did the chimney sweep and a bunch of work inside the chimney because I had not used it for fire purposes for years, so he made sure that it was back up to code. He made sure all the internal joints and things were good, plus he did some cementing in there and so forth. He also went beyond that part of it and we did some outside work too. He put a chimney cap on because I never had one before.

These guys are great. The person who provided my service was Robert Morris (Division 7) of Brick Concepts. He and his crew were polite, on time and did superlative work. This work was true old world craftsmanship where the workers took pride in what they were doing and it showed in the completed project. I would use Brick Concepts again, and I'd ask for Robert Morris and his crew. I recommend this company without reservation,.

I was initially happy with the work done by Brick Concepts. However, I had someone else come out since then and the second person told me Brick Concepts hadn't really done a good job cleaning the chimney. So, I have mixed feelings. The guy from Brick Concepts was very friendly. He told me different things that were wrong with it, but he did not try to talk me into anything more expensive, which I appreciated.

Very Well. They did exactly what was on the contract. As with any contractor - always make sure what you discussed was what was written on the invoice. Which always contributes to a satisfactory conclusion for both parties. The workers were very friendly, and, very informative. They didn't mind all the questions I had ask, and, explained the answers very well.
Description of Work: Rebuilt one Furnace chimney, and repaired one Firplace Chimney. The furnace chimney had to have all the brick taken down to the shingles - then matching brick was laid in its place. Afterwards - they re-sealed the chimney to the roof. The fireplace chimney had to only have the cap replaced, but they did have to repair the top few rows of motar. Both chimneys are garanteed.

The company must have had a huge response to he "big deal" offer. It took some time to get scheduled. Their phone presence didn't give me a lot of confidence in their business. When they came they were prompt and expedient. There was some mess with the process as we were left with sand and soot traces near the hearth and to the door. This may be expected though.

It was an okay experience, but was little bit confusing because they are having lot of customers they said it was confused what the deal apply to you or didn't like you and I bought the deal, but it didn't apply to what I was hoping it would apply to, but they worked with me in turn figure out something else that they can do and take advantage of what I had already purchased. They were professional and punctual. I would use them again.

I have explained my satisfaction with the company in the previous summary.
Description of Work: I ended up having my work done by a competitor, but i still wanted to give a review an this company. I was very impressed with the promptness and followup of this company. The only reason I chose to business with another company is the fact that they also had very good reviews from Angie's List and were able to offer a better price and were able to schedule the job sooner. Brick Concepts was the only company that initially followed up after their initial estimate the salesman Nick seemed knowledgeable and very pleasant. Under different circumstances, I would have elected to do business with this company. I want to reiterate that it was nothing this company did wrong to not get the job.

I originally purchased a Big Deal ($189) for a foundation crack repair by Brick Concepts in October, 2012. I knew I had a leak but it was behind drywall in the basement. Finally located the crack in January and contacted Brick Concepts and left message. Jordan contacted me and the repair was set for Sunday, February 3, 2013 at 2:00 PM On February 3rd, Jordan called me in the morning and wanted to know if they could arrive early. They arrived around noon and explained the procedure. Jordan also explained that the interior repair would probably not solve the problem. They gave me a quote for outside repairs and then proceeded with the interior repair. They completed the inside repair and completely cleaned up the work area.. I agreed to proceed with the outside repair according to their proposal. Jordan was right as a small leak appeared within days. The quote for the outside repair involved the following: Remove landscaping in a 6 ft section, dig down 8ft to drain tile and grind out crack. Then inject crack with epoxy and cover with water resistant material. Then the entire wall (6ft by 8ft) would be tarred and covered with plastic. Repeated two times with a membrane. Two feet of pea gravel added and the hole completely filled in. Landscape replanted. ($2,500) Jordan also checked out my chimney and suggested repairs including tuck point, sealing and new cap. ($275) The work was schedule for March 15, 2013 and the crew arrived in the morning. Jordan explained again what they would be doing. At various points he had me observe their progress. .After they were done the area was totally restored and cleaned up. While part of the crew was finishing the foundation crack, others started on the chimney. They performed the tuck point, sealed the flashing and replaced the cap. Again the cleanup was excellent. Both projects were completely finished that day. The best part is that the wall has not leaked!! Brick Concepts employees were very professional and did a great job in restoring the area. They check out your home to see if they see any other items that need attention. No pressure but they will provide estimates if requested..
Description of Work: 1. Originally purchased a Big deal for interior foundation crack. 2. Arranged for exterior crack repair and sealing of outside wall 6 ft wide by 8 ft deep. See below for detail of proposal. 3. Chimney repair- tuck point and flashing. 4 Chimney cap

The crew was on the job right on time as promised. The men were all very polite and friendly, very informative and a pleasure to talk with. The work was performed very diligently and professionally. Everything was totally cleaned up at the end of the day and you couldn't tell that any mess was ever made. I'm very happy with the work that was done. I would hire this company again. I feel that the work done is a huge weather prevention to my home......Thanks! My only complaint is that the overspray from the brick sealer went onto my windows, which I needed to scrape off with a razor blade. I think there might be a way to prevent that from happening with something to cover the windows before the spraying begins.

It started out great. The crew was hard working, polite and worked quickly. Problem number one was when done, the front steps no longer met the city code for height. The top step was too low leading to the porch. At first they were quick to respond and come out and check it out and offer suggestions. Then there was no follow up, no returned calls and quotes on what to do to fix it. The porch and steps no longer met the city code. After several phone calls and emails went unreturned, I called another guy who tore off the front porch cap and replaced it bringing it back to code. In so doing, it was discovered that the Brick Concepts had done a poor job on the porch. The pour was uneven. there were gaps in the foundation and lots of scrap wood and debris that was poured over to make the new cap. It started out great and I had no complaints but it ended badly.
