Louis Pickner came out to tell me what they would do. I was concerned about my A/C unit, which sat right next to the work area. Louis assured me his workers could move it safely out of their way. We agreed that I would move plants that were growing in the beds that abutted the basement walls. The workers arrived on time. They reviewed with me what they were going to do. They did indeed safely move the A/C unit away from their working space. One thing they discovered was a pipe that came out 6 inches or so from the basement wall below ground level. (This wasn't visible from the inside.) They surmised that settling probably caused the pipe to produce a crack. The work required an extra day because they ran out of some necessary material. I was impressed that they came out the very next morning, which was a Sunday. I'm not sure if my grade of B for the price is fair or not, since I didn't get any other quote to compare it with. ( I wanted to stick with the same company that did the interior work a month or so prior to this.) It's just that $3300 is a lot of money to me. A couple of minor complaints: 1) The workers didn't put the A/C unit back closer to the house where they moved it from. 2) Louis expressed some mild distress about the distance from his company's base to my house. (They're in Royal Oak. I'm in Ann Arbor.) I felt a little bad for him. This is the only reason why I checked the box NO for "Would you use this company/individual again in the future?" I would probably use a company closer to home.

I had a small job done it went smoothly.

I bought an Angie's List Big Deal for $159 for 1 Basement Foundation Crack Repair because of a slight trickle in a corner of my basement after heavy rains. I didn't know if this was from a single crack or more. I scheduled a visit from Louis for May 18. He arrived on time, saw the corner of my basement, and cited the possibilities of the leak. He thought it was in the wall but wouldn't know until he removed paint to see actual state of cement blocks and mortar. After he removed the paint, he showed me the naked wall and what needed to be done. He recommended that work be done on the exterior, too, as soon as possible. He said he'd fill in the cracks and then apply sealant over all of it. Since the sealant was going to emit fumes as it cured, he recommended I leave the house a few hours, which was no problem for me. He'd return the next day to paint over the sealant, which he did. One thing I found strange was that he had me write a check to him personally, Louis Pickner, instead of to the name of the company.

Brick Concepts LLC called once and promised to call again to set an appointment for the inspection. They never did. I just want my money refunded as soon as possible. Thanks!!!!!!

Not well, however the owner of the company did step in and do everything he could to make things right. He deserves an A for his efforts. Unfortunately it was already a closed issue and I did not use the services of his company.

Purchased a Big Deal for my mom - $99 for chimney sweep and inspection - on 9/9/12 and all work was completed within a couple weeks from purchase. Richard was friendly and provided detailed explanation of work that needed to be done. He cleaned the chimney and fireplace and re-tarred where the chimney and roof meet. He also noted masonry repairs and completed tuck-pointing repairs around my entire home. As an added bonus, Richard even replaced a few missing shingles. All in all, this was a positive experience, albeit expensive. I would recommend and use Brick Concepts again in the future.

The young man arrived on time. He let me know when he would be there. He used protective cloths to cover all areas where he would be working and wore covers on his shoes. He did a very nice job on the cimney and fireplace and picked up everything when he had completed the job. You would never know he was there. I would use them again.

It took a little while to connect on the job after the initial quote, but once they were on site the workmen were very professional, very through and neat. They also came back to paint the porch and steps and I had the same experience. The owner stopped by to check the job.

TOO LONG TO LIST. DON'T USE THIS COMPANY.

He came out to give me an estimate for the job I wanted done. I didn't want to pay anything extra so I asked about a smaller job when the estimate was several hundred dollars more. At that point I was told that he wouldn't come out for any job less than $500.00

"DR SWEEP/Brick Concepts" SAVED OUR LIVES! I'm not just giving a rave review here... this service, most likely, saved our lives - our home - possibly the homes of our neighbors! THANK YOU, RAY!! We purchased Gutter Cleaning AND Chimney Inspection/Cleaning and Ray from "Dr Sweep" showed up to do them both same day. First Ray inspected our fireplace/chimney and pointed out - VERY concerned - that the outside bubbling and buckling of the siding on our chimney indicated a number of small "chimney fires" that had been going on there. Any one of these, or another one, could have burned our house to the ground!!!! We had rented our house out for 3 years and since returning felt we needed an overall inspection before Winter. We were shocked and frightened and very glad that Ray took the time to show us everything and all the evidence. His 'gutter cleaning' job was also BEYOND EXCELLENT (cleaned AND made sure the gutter was securely fastened to the house in loose places) but we will be forever grateful that his warnings probably saved our home and our lives. All of the homes in our sub are approx the same age, with fireplaces & chimneys, so we are passing the "Dr Sweep/Brick Concepts" information and Ray's name specifically around to our neighbors for inspection. Thank you so very much, "Dr Sweep"/Brick Concepts!

Overall it went well. It took a long time to schedule the appointment, but with a special some delay is expected. It took them a while to complete the task, which is understandable with three chimneys. The experience overall was positive. The only drawback was some dust/soot on the hearths after they were done. The chimneys were pretty dirty (We were new to the house.), so some additional dirt is understandable. The only negative was it felt like the special was offered so they could pitch their masonry services. They showed me photos of my chimneys and it seemed like some scare tactics to point out a few small fractures. I had someone else inspect and repair the same chimneys for about 10% of BC's quoted price.

Overall the job itself was terrific however, they didn't clean up the area or the bricks after the work was done so there was white residue all over. Other than that the job was great and I would call then again if I ever needed this type of work.

Fireplace clean out, Floor protected with his blankets. removal of all old gas logs. vaccuum of all fireplace (hose ran to shop vac outside). inspection of chimney. outside inspection of brick integrity. Bonus, cleaned all my gutters.

Fine. They were professional. I just expected more than just an estimate.

They sent only one email when they received the order, saying that they were busy and would schedule the appointment within 1-2 weeks. It actually took them about 8 weeks to schedule the appointment. It's likely caused by the large amount of orders on this deal. The company did a good job in making sure I was satisfied, spending additional time to do the job right. Happy with the results.

Very well. Will recommend to others. Will be sure to hire them again when needed.

They made repairs as requested.

The only complaint I have was the difficulty to communicate with the person who schedules the servicing dates. I am not that easy to get in touch with but it was still more difficult than I would have liked.

These guys did a great job - from beginning to end they were flexible on schedules, walked through their inspection findings in detail and gave me provided me with repair options, and did quality repair work. I would definitely use them again.

The Summary: He forgot about our appointment He was 2.5 hours late- an hour later than his initial re-estimation He lied to me about calling then choosing not to leave a message He blamed his partner for his scheduling oversight He attempted to dictate to me what his company's "Angie's List" score should be. The Details: I was extremely disappointed by the lack of professionalism and respect afforded me. I had made this appointment last week and was told that someone would be at my home between the hours of 10:30am and 3:30pm, so I cleared my day. At 12:45 I decided to call to find out if they could give me a more exact window, since I had a last minute dinner guest that I needed to prepare for. Not only did no one answer the phone, I was not given a return call until 3:12pm and was told, "We will be late- we forgot about you. We can be there by 5:00." I told them that would be fine- that I needed to run to the grocery store but should be back by then. At 5:46pm, I called them to find out where they were. I was told they were less than 3 miles away and that "I actually just called you, but didn't leave a message." Now, the only number they have for me is my cell phone number. My cell phone, as most cell phones, records all incoming calls regardless of whether messages are left or not. Their number was not recorded as having called anytime since 3:15. When they finally(!) arrived, I was told once again that they had simply forgotten about me- they had a big job in Ann Arbor, and my paperwork had gotten misplaced, and besides, his partner hadn't even told him I was on the schedule for today. So now, not only had he shown up 2.5 hours late, he stressed my unimportance as a client, and foisted the blame from his shoulders to those of his unrepresented partner. He and the man he was working with today vacuumed out my chimney, told me that there appears to be no issues, but that I do have something he could up-sell me. (For those who have never worked in commissioned retail, "up-selling" is when a client requests one service or product and the sales person tries to sell them more.) I thanked him for his work, he and his co-worker packed up their things, and as they were leaving, he turned to me and said, "If you could please leave us an 'A' rating on Angie's List, we'd appreciate that: we get most of our business from there, and we've been on the list of 'A' sellers for the past two years in a row." "You were two and a half hours late." "Yes, I know, but if you could leave us an 'A' rating- see, you paid $77 [actually $99] for this, but Angie's List keeps most of that- we only get $20 of it, so you're 'A' rating is what helps us." "Wow. You have a lot of chutzpah. You were <i>two and a half hours late</i> because you <i>"forgot."</i> And now you're trying to tell me what I should be rating you!? Get out of my house. Go. Now." I have to say, I purchased a foreclosed home that needed a fair amount of work, so I've had a number of home improvement professionals over the years, and these are the first ones I have ever had that I have kicked out of my home. One of them was very quiet, but the other, I guess the co-owner? was just insulting. Came as promised to give quote. Did a good job. Did not like the approach to asking for a signature on the quote which was essentially an agreement to go forward with the job. He was kind when I refused to sign. Non-abrasive. Good guy quoting the job. I was fact finding and chose a different approach than just digging without finding the root cause of my issue.

Very prompt, professional and nice guys. Did a great job cleaning and checking chimney--so good that I hired them to do the needed masonary work the chimney needed. No complaints. Would use them again.
