Renaissance Roofing (Don DePriest) did re-roofed our home many years ago. We were very pleased then, as well as now. At the time of our estimate, Don spent quite a bit of time with us, going over the details until we had all our questions answered. Someone posted a review on 11/30/2016. (See that review.) We could have written it, with the exception of the amount of wood that needed to be replaced. (A venting problem in the attic had ruined all our wood. Don showed us pictures of the condition of the wood while the work was being done. We appreciated that.) Our roofing was done on one of the coldest days so far this winter. Despite the temperature, everything was handled by the finest workmen and in a very professional manner, including complete cleanup and removal of debris. We highly recommend Renaissance Roofing.

Overall it went very well despite some scheduling hiccups (not Renaissance's fault). Since this was the first time for us to get the roof replaced, we got quotes from different vendors. When quoting, Renaissance came with a very detailed explanation of the job and a reasonable price compared to the others. They were willing to negotiate as we try to close the deal, which was great! Don is the man! We communicated with him about every little details related to the job. Renaissance came early morning and finished the job by that afternoon (our roof was a relatively simple job). For now, we can say that the roof looks great and we think the job was done very well. We had some issues with the moisture, but with the proper vents, it seems much better now. We thank Renaissance for what they've done! P.S. We are aware that this is a very overdue Review, but after almost 2years, our roof is still great!

The owner was very responsive right from the start. He gave the attic and roof a thorough inspection at the time of estimate. He informed us of problems we were not aware of regarding the exhaust fan venting from our bathroom. He included the venting problem in the estimate. He educated us about the different types of roofing materials available to us. He provided us real roofing samples to select the color--not just pictures of the colors. He provided us a listing of homes in the area, so that we could look at installations to help us select a roofing color. The price was reasonable, especially in view of the wonderful workmanship and materials warrantees. The crew (certified by the manufacturer) arrived on time; were very courteous and professional. The entire job (tear-off; wood replacement; and roofing installation) was completed in one day by 2:30 PM, even though they had to replace 2 1/2 times the estimated amount of wood needed (76 ft.). They did an excellent job. The owner came out immediately after completion and did a complete inspection himself, including going up on the roof. No deposit for the job was requested before completion of the job to our satisfaction. And, the initial estimate was right on.

These folks are the most professional contractors I have ever dealt with. I actually told them that they could give lessons to other contractors on how to run a successful business and keep customers very happy. Everything from initial contact to the final walk through went as expected. Very happy with workmanship and clean up after.

We hired Renaissance Roofing for a roof replacement and some additional work in October 2016. Don DePriest, the owner, provided us a quote. He showed us a presentation of the installation process, samples of different products, and diagrams showing what services he recommended and how they worked. It was very helpful and, ultimately, one of the main factors in us hiring Renaissance. Additionally, the quote that Don provided was extremely easy to understand, unlike other companies who provided quotes Cassie Kosal at Renaissance was great at communicating the schedule to us and worked around a blip in our availability. On the day of the job, the crew arrived promptly. I was not there for the duration of the job, but came home to watch the final 2 hours or so. Everyone was professional and friendly, and the team from Renaissance did a very thorough job cleaning up our yard. Robbie, who I believe was the leader of the crew that worked on our house, was very helpful. Don was on-site, too, and both were great resources to have. The scope of the job involved: 1) Replacing our roof, including new shingles and some new sheets of OSB/plywood; 2) Adding about 1,000 sq. ft. of blow-in insulation to our attic; 3) Installing DCI perforated ventilation on the back of our house; 4) Installing a number of baffles in our attic where the soffit vents were; 5) Connecting two bathroom fans to exhaust vents so that they vented outside the attic; 6) Reparing a broken rafter by sistering it. Renaissance was maybe a touch more expensive than our next-nearest quote, but given Don's presentation and Renaissance's reputation we decided to hire them and have been very pleased with the results. After the crew left, we noticed that one of our bathroom fans had been knocked out of its housing. Robbie stopped by a few days later to fix it and spent a good amount of time getting it back in working condition, for which we were grateful. One very minor complaint: I had a small panic attack the morning of the job. I was told Renaissance needed a power source, which I was able to provide. However, when the crew showed up and I spoke with them, it turns out they required a certain ampreage to run the insulation machine. I did not know if the outlets I provided them were adequate. It turns out they were and there was not a problem, but if this requirement had been communicated to me earlier it would have saved some stress from me, as I spent part of the day wondering if they would be able to do the insulation part of the job. I would definitely recommend Renaissance to anyone looking for a roof. They do quality work at a reasonable price and are certainly a trustworthy company.

Don is among the best of the best. I know him from before when I had some leaking of a door (worried it was my roof). He came out and helped me problem solve that it was the door, not the roof. I tried to pay him but he said, just remember him when I need a roof. I subsequently hired him to put in an attic fan to improve the energy efficiency. This past year (fall 2015) I was ready to start talking about a tear off roof replacement. He was the consummate professional. He spent time with us talking about options and his suggestions, etc. My b/f and I drove all over to select a few colors we liked based on our house color and Don's guys nailed the various shingle colors up on the roof so we could see how they looked at various times of the day. We signed the contract and Don was gracious enough to fix my immediate issue with the covered deck (that another contractor on here installed but did not do a good job tying the new deck roof into the existing roof.). Don fixed me up for the winter to prevent the ice damming and leaking inside the deck that I had had previously. When the weather broke, I got on the schedule and they were done in 3 days despite the size of the job and the fact that I have glass railings all across the back of the house. The guys were meticulous about protecting my deck and cleaning up after themselves. They used a metal detector to find any stray roofing nails. It really looks nice and I am set for years now. Don is higher level certified, so my roof has a 10 year longer guarantee on it than if someone non-certified installed it. Don also sent me pictures from the roof as he went along. I also did replace 3 skylights that did not leak but were so poorly installed that it was safer to replace than risk leaking in a couple of years. Don, can you do plumbing and painting and drywall and appliance repair now please? We need more guys like you in the home services business.

Don and his group were the consummate professionals. He had a huge list of former customers and places to look for roofing ideas. They came and nailed samples on my roof so I could judge color from the street and Don also personally spent time going over the options without a bit of pressure. The first time I had him come over in more of an emergency situation he would not even take money for a service call. Don is ethical and talented and in this business for the long haul and not out to cheat people as has been my experience with many other contractors. The crew covered my deck to protect my glass railing, and worked quickly and finished up by cleaning and even going over my yard with a metal detector. I even got daily photos from on top of the roof so I could be assured the guys were putting down exactly the material I had paid for. I also was able to get a longer warranty which is transferrable because Don is a higher level contractor through the material vendor. One of the reasons I needed a new roof besides wear and tear was that a different contractor that did my deck had not tied the roof to my gazebo into the roofline of my house. I was having ice damming and leakage of water into my covered deck, creating a walking hazard inside my sun porch. Don got the guys to straighten out the roof at the end of the fall to get me through the winter and then started the big roof job in the spring. I was very grateful. Don also removed my faux chimney that was on my contemporary house that really looked idiotic. It's now gone and I just have the gas pipe going through the roof and its barely visible from the water.

I am very happy with the work and Renaissance Roofing followed through on the promises. Jack Walterscheid supported the claims process with my insurance company, which did help to fund the repair. Jack and the owner were both present during the roof replacement which occurred about a year ago. Since then GAF certified the roof install via their Golden Pledge warranty. I am appreciative of the follow through efforts and worksmanship

We had top flight service & workmanship from everyone at Renaissance. The communication between Jack, Don, and Robbie kept us all on the same page. Jack was friendly, knowledgeable, and thorough from start to finish. Although they were not the lowest bid, I feel we got the best value . Jack's presentation was head & shoulders above the other 2 Angie's list companies who bid on the job .Even then they exceeded our expectations.

Don is a true professional and knows his stuff!!! Not a salesman. He didn't try to sell me anything, just came over, listened and came up with plan to get our roof of 20 years done. He offered 3 different estimates and we went middle of the road. We also had a lot of wood replaced due to mold. He recommended an attic ventilation expert, that we will be having take care of ventilation and mold issues. We all met together to firm up the plan so that we can coordinate the work. Don's crew was out at 7:30 AM, worked hard all day and got the roof done (2,100 SQ FT) done by 3:30, and they were short handed. It was a flawless operation. Don came on site and took pics of the job as it progressed and was able to show us the extent of the mold issue. Overall the team was fantastic and I would highly recommend Renaissance Roofing to anyone. Reniassance Roofing proved to be an excellent roofing contractor. The quality of service received was truly excellent starting from the minute Don inspected the roof, which also included from within the ceiling and putting temporary sheeting on a few bare spots on the roof. Don & Karen helped us through the shingle selection process, providing samples, taking photographs of our roof and superimposing differing shingles to help with visualization, including nailing some sample shingles onto the roof. The installation was undertaken quickly & professionally by the entire roofing team. Windows and plants were all protected and the area was cleaned up each evening. They even blocked and fixed an unwanted access point for rodents into the roof. The final job looks great. We highly recommend Reniassance Roofing.

I contacted Renaissance Roofing via e-mail and received a follow up call from Jack Walterscheid. My wife and I spent about eight weeks searching roof shingle options. Jack was a tremendous help during our search. He dropped off several sample boards and provided several local addresses for installed examples including his own. Jack was very patient during the protracted selection process. We are quite demanding with quality and aesthetic considerations and changed product selections several times (Renaissance actually had to cancel a signed order a couple days after we placed it). We finally chose the GAF Camelot Ultra Designer Shingle in Williamsburg Slate (color). The installation took four full days as planned. During the installation, a few minor issues arose. The shingle supplier's delivery truck had a minor oil leak and a small patio stone chip was caused by a ladder. Renaissance owner Don DePriest dealt with the issues IMMEDIATELY demonstrating an unparalleled commitment to customer service and satisfaction. He arranged for the delivery company to power wash the driveway and hired a stone repair company to fix the stone chip. The installation is absolutely beautiful...and in the end, our property was left in the condition that they found it in. I am as picky as they come...and always do my homework when selecting a contractor. I strongly recommend Renaissance to anyone considering a roof replacement!!

Approximately 2 1/2 years ago, we got three roofing estimates because our roof was about 18 years old and we had a leak in our living room during bad storms. We had had contractors up on the roof and in our living room looking for the source of the leak, with no success and decided maybe we needed to just replace the whole roof, as it was at the end of its expected lifespan anyway. Donald DePriest came out to our house and was the only roofer who went up onto our roof to inspect. He took photos of our chimney cap and suggested the leak might be from the chimney and recommended a company that would fix that for us. He also recommended increasing insulation in our attic space and recommended the type of insulation and a company. And lastly, when I asked if we'd waited too long to have the roof replaced, he told us no, we probably could get 2-3 more years out of it. We got the chimney cap replaced and the leak stopped! We also got the insulation done as he recommended and have been very surprised at the difference it has made in the comfort of our home in winter, even though we had thought we had adequate insulation before. And after having another 2 years to save up for the cost of replacing the roof, we naturally contacted Renaissance Roofing. Even though his bid was the highest of the three, he has saved us many thousands of dollars by identifying the source of the leak and in heating bills. This summer was difficult for outside work (we had our house painted as well) and the job got pushed much later in the year than anticipated. The office staff was great about contacting us often enough that we knew we were still on the radar but not so often that it was bothersome. When the work started, the crew was quite big and they all worked very hard for long hours, and left our yard and home cleaned up at the end of each day. The whole job took much less time than I had anticipated, because of the size of the team and their work ethic. I would (and have) recommend this company to anyone looking for an estimate and a new roof. I am extremely pleased with the whole interaction and the final product.

We were very happy with the attention they spent to protecting our window screens and plants from debris from the tear-down and install process. They did an excellent job with clean-up as well, using 2 different sizes and styles of magnets to find loose nails on the driveway and yard around the house. All debris was hauled away by them at the end of the job.

What a great experience from beginning to end. From Jack's sales presentation to the attic insulation and roof installation, the whole process couldn't have gone better. We were impressed with the professionalism of everyone involved. There were several delays because of rain, but Cassie kept us informed every step of the way. The 9-man crew who did the installation were very respectful of our property - blocking the windows from debris, covering the whole area with tarps, and cleaning up the first day even though they had to come back the second day to finish the job. Renaissance Roofing is an excellent company. We highly recommend them.

I have had a leak in my ceiling off and on for years. My husband repeatedly tried to find and fix it but a water leak is hard to find since water can travel far from the leaking point. Don found the location of the leak and repaired it. We have had recent storms with hard rain and high winds without any leaking. I am very satisfied with the price and the service I receive from Renaissance Roofing.

Their pricing was the highest of 4 quotes i received. The main reason for not going with this provider was the unprofessionalismshown during the meeting. Their method of trying to get business and justifying their overpriced quote was to bad mouth their competitors. It was highly unprofessional and showed questionable ethics.

The service went very well. He took pictures of my roof and explained every thing he did as well as showing me on the picture. He sealed nails on caps and furnace pipe as well as sealed two loose shingle tabs. He recommended reinspection in two years.

I had the leak in our garage roof repaired by Renaissance Roofing. Mr. Donald A. DePriest came over to our house for his inspection of the roof on Wednesday, June 10. The first thing that Don did was to place a wooden board over the front garage gutter, so that he could put his extension ladder against this board, and not against the gutter. Don wanted to make sure that he did NOT damage the gutter. Then Don got down on his hands and knees to inspect the roof. Don removed many tree branches that were on the roof. Next, Don asked me to turn on the water to the hose, so that he could conduct a water test. This test showed that there was a leak point at the front flashing between the garage roof and the siding of the house. Don took his time to conduct a complete inspection of the garage roof. On Thursday, June 11, Renaissance Roofing emailed me a quote for $365.00. This cost covered the repair of the corner flashing, seal down a broken shingle corner, and to seal all the nails on the vents. The repair work was successfully completed on Wednesday, June 17 without any issues. Based upon the thorough inspection that was conducted by Don, and the great repair work by Richard and Mike, I will definitely contact Renaissance Roofing in the future for any of my roofing work. In addition, I will recommend Renaissance Roofing to all my friends and neighbors. Since Renaissance Roofing completed the repair work in a professional manner, at a reasonable price, I would highly recommend that Angie's List provide their name to anyone in the Detroit Metropolitan Area who is in need of roofing work.
