+ -1 moreOverall I was left with a very sour taste in my mouth where Modernistic was concerned. I felt that they were trying to squeeze as much out of me as they could because I was working with an insurance company. I don't appreciate that attitude and don't want to do business with anyone who would conduct business in that way. My husband did contact Modernistic to complain about the bill and they removed the charges. That was the least they could have done.
Description of Work: I have used Modernistic in Kalamazoo in the past and have received great service and clean carpets. This time, however, while moving to Holland, movers tracked tar all over my white carpet throughout two levels of our home. Having used Modernistic before and feeling confident they would do the best job, I needed an estimate to provide to the claim company paying for the cleaning of the mess. Modernistic could not provide the estimate over the phone (wanted to provide an hourly figure) and suggested they send someone out to take a look at the damage with the understanding that they could provide a more detailed estimate. That person came and proceeded to provide an hourly estimate again, much as what was discussed on the phone, which was the reason she was supposed to come out in the first place....to provide something more detailed. When confronted with that, she provided an estimate that was high but with the understanding that it was high to be confident the costs would not exceed that amount. I provided the estimate to my claim company and they were satisfied. I contacted Modernistic to schedule the service but the technician gave me the idea that the cost to clean the carpet was going to be that much. I was not satisfied they were going to do the carpet cleaning for a reasonable price at that time. I decided to go with another company who not only had been able to give me an estimate but was able to assure me the cost would not exceed that amount. One month later, I received a bill from Modernistic for $75 for providing the estimate. No fees were ever discussed at the time the appointment was scheduled. I will never use Modernistic again for handling this circumstance so badly. I waited and waited for an estimate only to be given the same information I had been given on the phone and that after they had been to my house and taken pictures of the damage. And, when it came time to use them, they could not provide me the service I had hoped for for a reasonable price.

+ -1 moreCalled on Wednesday for pricing they were much lower than anyone else I called. They had appointments available for the next day. Appointment window was 1pm-4pm. Technician called in advance and arrived promptly around 1pm. They were very respectful and curteous and completed the work in a timely manner. I would definetly use there service in the future

+ 0 moreFrom start to finish, Modernist lived up to their "Simple and Quick" jingle. We called after a fatal dog attack in our house resulted in the death of two of our beloved dogs. As one would imagine, the mess was indescribable, and we were too emotionally wrecked to deal with it. They came out the same day, not realizing it was a wood floor and not carpet. They apologized profusely, let us know that the hardwood specialist was out for the day, but he'd be over first thing the next morning. The specialist arrived promptly at 8AM, called a biohazard specialist for recommendations, and promptly got to the task of restoring our home. He was done in less than 4 hours, and the house looks almost as good as new. A fresh coat of paint and some floor polish and the house will look as good as new. He let us know about the antimicrobial measures he took, and assured us that the room was sanitary and the risk of bacterial growth had been mitigated. We cannot thank them enough for their prompt, courteous service and the care they took to be respectful of the loss we had recently suffered. The $300 price tag was well worth not having to deal with the aftermath of such an event.
Description of Work: We needed to hire a remediation company after a fatal dog-dog fight occurred in our guest bedroom while out to dinner. There was a significant amount of blood on the walls, ceiling, and floors, as well as fecal matter and urine.

+ -1 moreI called the Modernistic Plainwell, Michigan to come out and clean our carpets. An appointment was made for the next day. They arrived promptly on time. We were very pleased with the service that was performed by employees 363 Doug & 841 Matt. The results were excellent and the cost was fair and reasonable. The date this work was done was 4-17-2012. This was the next day after my first contact with Modernistic. I also would like to add that the carpet in the living room had 2 stains/spots that we had tried various methods to clean over the past year and were unsuccessful. As of this writing, it has been 30 days since this was done and NO STAINS ARE VISIBLE. They do not dump the dirty water into you sink, etc nor do they use you faucets for water. The truck they have holds all that needs to come in and all that needs to leave. I will use this company again.
Description of Work: 2 bathrooms, Dining Area, Part of the Front Room & part of 2 bedrooms (as requested by me), stairs, hallway, & 2 pieces of carpeting which are mobile.

We tried a Bissell carpet cleaner but it did not remove the smell. I called, set up the appointment, they called before arriving on a Saturday, they were done in less than an hour and because I had all of the furniture moved the scotch guarded the living room for free (I was having the family room done).

Sometimes it seems like there’s a bit of salesmanship going on; by the time they finish looking at the job, the cost is significantly more than what we intended on spending. This is how it’s been with a few companies that we’ve dealt with, but overall, they’ve done a good job. They’ve always been polite, efficient, and everything is back in place once the work is done. They call to remind you when it’s time to clean the carpets again, which I appreciate!

+ -1 moreThey are really heavy around here, they advertise quite heavy and I have used them before. I am a real estate broker, so I use them for different houses u sell too. It has been a couple of years ago, but they even came out one time when I dumped paint inside my truck. The kid that came was smart enough to look at it and say that it was beyond anything they could do. They showed up within 20 minutes of the phone call. The paint was all on the seats and everything in the car and it cost the insurance company about $4500 to replace the inside of my truck. He was right by telling to check my insurance, I did and it was there and I was impressed. I spent $129 the last time I used them. They came in and did a good, clean job, moved all the furniture and I did not have to do anything. When they put the furniture back down they put down little pads so the furniture did not sink back into the wet carpet. They were clean when they came into the house, they wore booties, and they were nice and did a nice job. They were actually here a couple of minutes early. I would absolutely use them again if needed.

I just had to get out the little pieces or the smaller items. They were timely. They were very nice, friendly, and priced good. I do not remember how much I paid for that.
