They were very particular with their sign up process for the free estimate. I encountered this company at a home improvement fair. They called me twice the morning of the appointment with the same questions. How long was I going to be home? Did I have any other appointments? Was I the only owner of home? They questions and attitude of CSR made me suspect, so I looked them up on Angie's List. Yes, my suspicions were confirmed and they were setting me up for the hard sell. There are plenty of roofing companies who can do a great job in a much more professional manner. Please note this company will now post their "company line spin" in response to my post. They understand power of Angie's List reviews. I would take heed to what the customers are saying about this company's sell practices and look somewhere else.
Description of Work: Initially requested a free estimate, but after reading Angie's List reviews I cancelled the appointment.

Everything went real good. Salesman was very nice and talked about the quality of the product and the the quality of the installation. He was right. The installers were a class act. Clean, professional and very picky on the workmanship. They had a Quality Assurance inspector out the next day to inspect the installation. He sat down with us and went over the job and wanted our input. Very happy with overall.

Description of Work: Horrible experience. Salesman was at our house for 5 hours. High pressure sales, with a Very lengthy presentation. Price was ridiculous. Went with another wonderful company that charged 1/3 of the price quoted by this company. This company preys on young and elderly clients. Stay away !

I'm sorry to hear you felt your appointment ran long, but please understand that we have designed our process with the customer in mind. We take the education of our customers seriously and informing them as to all the ins and outs of their project can take time. At Power, we've invested considerable time and effort in making our products and processes best in class. If we don’t have the opportunity to explain these differences to the homeowner, our customers will be comparing numbers with zero context. This can lead to homeowners having the project done elsewhere and, generally, being unhappy with the results, as the home remodeling industry carries a 68% complaint rate. Power’s customer satisfaction rate for those who have had work done hovers between 95-99%, with 93% of our customers willing to recommend Power to family and friends. These numbers take into account customer opinion on price, length of visit, communication and quality of installation. When making a decision about the renovation of your home, it's important to us (and important to our customers) to understand how we are different from other contractors and specifically what we do to separate ourselves from the competition. This information is vital in making a decision on what can be a large investment and, on the whole, our customers appreciate our thoroughness. If you'd like to discuss your experience further, please feel free to contact me directly. Yours in Service, Ray Lodato Director of Digital Communications Power Home Remodeling 610.874.5000 x2260

It was not good. I found the experience to be bad that I didn't want them to perform a service. The quote was approximately $22000. The price is about twice as high as the standard in the industry. They showed up late for two separate appointments. They were insulting and they have a very forceful and pushy presentation.

We never want a customer walking away from their first impression with the company feeling as you do and we certainly understand your concern about the discrepancy in price for the quotes you received. In our 24 years of business, and with over 275,000 installations completed, we’ve never been the cheapest option – but we’ve always delivered one of the best experiences in the industry. $10,000, $14,000, $16,000 - these are all significant sums of money - but for the scope of the work you requested, installing a project for that price is going to leave you dissatisfied with the quality of the product and the level of service and communication received. We’ve seen this exact scenario play out hundreds of times. Due to the significant amount of the project, the homeowners are forced to keep the inferior product - frequently installed incorrectly – which often times results in a very expensive learning experience. As a company, we do things the right way – using specific products and a specific process to deliver a premium experience. Overall, the home remodeling industry carries a 68% complaint rate. Power’s customer satisfaction rate for those who have had work done hovers between 95-99%, with 93% of our customers willing to recommend Power to family and friends. These numbers take into account customer opinion on price, length of visit, communication and quality of installation. Again, we never position ourselves as the cheapest option on the market - but when you partner with us on a remodeling project, you're partnering with a company that couples premium products with best-in-class service. With Power, you'll never feel as if a shortcut was taken on your home. If you'd like to discuss your experience further, please feel free to contact me directly. The salesman was very knowledgeable and explained all the special qualities of these windows. i was reluctant at first to buy but I knew I would not find these features in other window dealers. They arrived on time and the installation went smoothly. They even took down and put back up my window blinds and hardware. A representative contacted me before installation and after to answer any questions and concerns I might have had. I am very happy with the looks and efficiency of these windows. I also like the warranty that is provided.

The Beginning This company is amazing. I was a little worried when someone showed up at my door asking if I wanted to buy new windows. I am a first time homeowner and am not used to people showing up and asking for things. This young man was very nice and we set up an appointment with an expert who could tell me what was going on with my windows. Some of them were broken, they were drafty; I knew they just had to be replaced. The expert that came was amazing. He told me everything I needed to know plus some. He showed me the security features of the windows (which is good in a ranch home), the mesh screens where you can rub out holes and the degree to which they block out heat and cold. There is also a transferable lifetime warranty, which replaces anything that breaks. Every phone call I received, every person who showed up, was nothing short of amazing. I felt very comfortable with this company. It was almost like working with caregivers who want to make sure you are 100% ok and make every effort to do so. What makes this company even better, is that they are on Fortune's Top 100 Companies to work for. It is obvious that these guys love their jobs and on the day they were installing the windows, they were very professional and courteous. The install They showed up on time, introduced themselves and immediately started setting up. They put down cardboard trails to make sure they weren't walking on my floor. There were enough guys that they were able to get 15+ windows and a slider done in less than 7 hours. They were personable and talked to me about my interests based on what was on the walls in my house. The project manager stopped by to check on the project and the quality assurance guy made sure the work was done as expected. They didn't skip a beat. I did watch them do a few things and there is a lot that goes into making these windows as awesome as they are. They hauled away all of the old window and the junk that was left behind. It's almost like they weren't even here! Well, the new windows make the untrue. They even helped me take down some blinds that I couldn't figure out for the life of me. The Bottom Line This experience was beyond amazing for me. So much so that I committed to also having my gutters done by this group. I am sure in the distant future, I will also get my roof done by them. I am a single female with my first house. They treated me like an equal, didn't try to fool me and made every effort to help me understand what was happening with my house. They even went above and beyond to get to know me on a human level. Bravo, guys, bravo!
Description of Work: They put in new windows and a new slider.

The Power salesman arrived at our house at 9:30 AM and did not leave until after 4:00 PM ( 6.5 HOURS). No idea how he held us captive that long. All we wanted was an estimate for new shingles/roof. He never went on the roof, did everything from the ground. Anyway, we went from shingles, to shingles and new siding, then to shingles, gutters, soffits and facia, and to lock us in he threw his first time visit buy now card, and threw in a front door, 1000 sq ft of OSB deck wood and a Nest thermostat. He had us spinning in circles with all the combinations he threw at us, and all we wanted were shingles. After 4 hours he asked if we wanted to order a pizza, I thought the guy was moving is with us or was hiding from the law. He did poke his head in the attic and we were told that we needed additional attic ventilation. He took pics and showed us what the deck wood looked like, wet and dark. Told me it was so bad that he was going to have his rep come over but the rep was too busy. Stressing that this was work that had to be done immediately. He told us he would never walk on my roof. However, he never did any calculations to see what the intake v.s exhaust ratio was for our attic sq footage. Apparently we have mold, which we had an expert come out to confirm (9 out of 10 homes have mold in the attic, so check it out!). The expert will be taking care of all our attic issues. So for the remainder of the Power stay, we ended up listening to how great the company is, more price combos, what great conferences they have, what great books they read, how great the crew is trained, the awards, and on and on and on. 6 hours in we finally caved and signed the paperwork. I just wanted him out of the house. We were tired, hungry and beat down. 6.5 hours of our lives we'll never get back. Took him 1/2 hour to wrap it up with a bow. The next day when we came out of our sales coma and we decided to send an email to cancel the contract (you have 3 days). That was the easiest part of the entire process. Rep came out the following day, listened to what we went through, apologized a hundred times, cancelled the order and left in a 1/2 hour. He said the job of his sales crew is to consult on the consumers need, not become a salesman and upsell other items that we didn't need or want. I was happy with how he handled it. Power offers good products, and the guy knew the company and products inside and out, backwards and forwards, but nothing you can't get from a less expensive/quality roofer, which we have already signed up for (and he walked on the roof and didn't fall through). Oh, and he was there for an hour and even recommended a ventilation expert for the attic mold and ventilation who we hired as well. They both actually do the work, not just salesmen. Make sure whoever you get is GAF Master Elite Certified and Trained, and OSHA certified, and check the BBB. And validate the warranty on the workmanship (i.e. buy a GAF Life Roofing system package). Do your research. With the new companies I've hired, total cost for everything..Replace roof decking front of home, new GAF HD shingles, Tiger Paw underlayment, ice shield (4ft up), roof/attic exhaust vent, full soffit vents front and back, mold remediation and sealant, and sealing all attic crevices (ceiling light fixtures, etc)...11K to 12K, depending on the amount of OSB wood replacement necessary for the job. Good luck.

Overpriced and misleading! Salesman came to our house and spent nearly 3 hours with us. The salesman was professional, he did his analysis, went through his presentation, etc. However, the information in his presentation was very misleading, it provided quotes of other companies which were very inaccurate - and mainly seemed like a ploy to make their product and price seem competitive. After we got our quotes from other Angie's List companies, Power's quote was not even close to the other quotes we received! Power home's quote was nearly 3-times the cost of most of the other quotes. Power will claim they use better products (shingle, underlayment, ice/snow guard, etc.), however this is absolutely false! Most of the other companies were using the same products. We ended up cancelling with Power, however they still ended up pulling our credit (hard pull)! The salesman told us that our SIN would be needed to confirm our identity and that they would not be pulling our credit. Within the next week I got a call from my credit monitoring company that a hard pull was performed by Power Home Remodeling. Overall, very upset with this company. Would not let them in your homes. Stay away.

We never want a customer walking away from their first impression with the company feeling as you do and we certainly understand your concern about the discrepancy in price for the quotes you received. That being said, in 24 years of business and with over 250,000 installations completed, we’ve never been the cheapest option – but we’ve always delivered one of the best experiences in the industry. Our belief is that $6,000, $8,000, $10,000 - they're all significant amounts of money. But for the scope of the work you requested, installing a project for that price is going to leave you dissatisfied with the quality of the product and the level of service and communication received. We’ve seen this exact scenario play out hundreds of times. As far as the credit pull, we offer a financing option as a courtesy to our customers, who also have the option to secure a loan on their own, if need be. When you indicate that you wanted to choose our financing option and completed the finance application, you gave us permission to perform a check on your credit in order to secure that loan with our lending partners on your behalf. Power Home Remodeling Group promises 5 star customer service and they deliver. Window replacement is a very competitive market and although we may have been able to find cheaper contractors, we ultimately contracted with them because of their emphasis on and delivery of exceptional customer service. Every representative we have dealt with from sales through post-installation quality assurance checks have demonstrated exceptional professionalism and friendliness. Their truly no money down financing was a great benefit as we had just purchased our home and did not have extra cash laying around for a down payment on new windows. All of the Power team we have worked with have been respectful of our needs and our time and have held themselves to higher quality standards than any other contractor we have ever had in our home. Power says they deliver 5-star customer service and they did. I give them an A+.

The sales person stayed at our house for FOUR hours during the estimate process and would not leave until we signed papers to proceed with the job - told us that we would be approved to finance project through Wells Fargo. The company then (without our knowledge) went to an additional finance company and had an ADDITIONAL line of credit started which resulted in two inquiries into our credit report... As a result, we decided to cancel the job. The company sent someone out to the house (in order to cancel "in writing" ) and the person would not leave (he was there for over and hour and a half even though we told him that my father was sick with the flu)...he took back ALL of their contact information (business card, folder, agreement, and so on...) Two weeks later, we decided to go with another company but when we attempted to use our home improvement line of credit, we were told by Wells Fargo that the money was already gone. We called Power back and they told us that they would release the hold on our funds within 24 hours and that they had no idea why the money was being locked up. The following week, the funds were still not returned and the new company had to push the job back... As a result, we had to have a three way call between Wells Fargo and Power in order to get our money released back to our account. During that call, the Power rep simply laughed it off and said that it must have been a "human error" - we obviously were not amused.

Power offers a financing option as a courtesy to our customers. Prior to installation, our customers fill out both a Wells Fargo credit application and a Power credit application if they choose the monthly payment option. We do this intentionally in the event that Wells Fargo’s financing is not sufficient. This allows us to investigate options with other potential lenders. We apologize for the delay in releasing the hold on the Wells Fargo line of credit. It was, unfortunately, a case of miscommunication and human error and we’ll use this as an opportunity to correct the mistake and improve. We sincerely regret any inconvenience this caused. Power Home Remodeling Group was impressive from start to finish. The presentation about their roofing products and methodology was extremely professional and detailed. All our questions were thoroughly answered. Although I am sure we could have found companies that charged less, I am equally certain that their materials and workmanship would have been less as well. After the sales call, we were visited by someone that verified the details of our job and remeasured everything. We had reminder calls prior to all appointments and were contacted by the Project Manager on the day of installation multiple times. The installation crew arrived promptly. They were all wearing gear that identified them as being with Power Home Remodeling Group. They were courteous and VERY hard working. The entire roof was completed in one day and the yard cleanup was complete. I would highly recommend Power Home Remodeling Group to anyone considering a new roof.
