I had a fairly large, mildly complex concrete project. Aside from tearing out more than 80' of old driveway and walkways, I needed our driveway widened, walkways replaced a new 16x16' patio poured in a new location. The thing that made this a more challenging job is that our backyard has weird elevation issues, and Michael was very consultative about them. I'm pretty sure a lesser contractor could have just glossed over these issues to get the job, which could have been a costly mistake, but Michael was pretty straightforward about the challenges and helped to devise a solution. I actually delayed making a final decision for a long time before finally getting the work done. But after reading a lot of reviews, I decided to go with Romano, and I honestly could not be more pleased. His team showed up on time, tore out a substantial amount of old concrete in about as clean a fashion as humanly possible. They poured the concrete two days later (they had to wait a day because of rain), and advised us not to drive on it for 10 days. Today, we have a totally improved backyard to enjoy. It's honestly hard to believe that all we had done was the concrete. I highly recommend Romano!

The extra cost to go with Romana was definitely worth it for our family. This was a very large house project for us, and they set our minds at ease from the beginning when we met for our estimate. We were very impressed with their professionalism, hard work, and the extra time that they took to speak with us and answer any questions that we had throughout the entire process. They gave us an estimated start date and met that date. The quality of their work is outstanding, and we can now easily see why they've been in business for so long. In the end, Romana far exceeded our expectations and we quickly direct any and all friends, family, and/or neighbors in the market for cement work to them. What a great family-run business. I met with the provider and we worked out our differences. He made an outstanding effort to go over the error with me and I have decided to have his company do the work I requested. He demonstrated a genuine sincerity in wanting my business and was eager to perform the work. We agreed on a?time frame ?to have the work performed. I do not anticipate any problems and I am looking forward to having the project started and getting a new driveway. Update: He has since come out and completed the project. It went great and he did a good job! No complaints.

They did an amazing job. They came to tear out and prep a few days ahead, everything was done so well, even the tear out was clean if you can imagine that. The cement work was amazing!! The quality and the detail are more than we could have hoped for, I've heard "it is so thick" from more people than I can count! They were so professional and didn't leave a big mess anywhere. We have the best driveway in the neighborhood and have had a lot of neighbors say the same!! I would recommend them to anyone!!

I am totally impressed with the quality and workmanship I received from Romana. I contacted them in March to get a quote for a garage and Mike came by a few days later. I gave him my ideas and he showed me some pictures of recent garages they had built and explained how they would be pouring the concrete since the garage is about 180ft off the road. After helping me select siding, roof colors, roof pitch and door placement he took some measurements and gave me an exact quote in about 30 minutes. I was expecting to wait several days for it so I was very pleased. It took a couple weeks for permits to be approved and they began the concrete work soon after. A week after it had cured a different crew came in and put up the garage in just 4 days. These guys worked like they have been doing it for many years..... which they had. Everyone was friendly and would take a few minutes to explain what they were doing. Also, everyday they would clean the driveway of any nails and construction material so I could still park in the driveway overnight. When they were finished the electric crew came in and trenched and wired the garage. Also, the garage door and opener was installed at the same time. Overall the whole project took 4 weeks but most of that was due to waiting for the concrete to cure and scheduling the crews. Kudos to Romana for their excellent work. They've been in business for almost 60 years so they know what they're doing. Their price is fair. They are professional and courteous. And I always had a good feeling that this project would turn out well. It sure did!

On time, delivered what was negotiated. Best money i've spent on my(our) Home in 17 years. Even after harsh winter, concrete is still great. Very pleased. ROMANA = Quality!

The original job went well and in fact I gave them a high rating at the time. However, two very large sections of the replaced pad have cracked right behind my house this winter, at the time they were pretty wide, but as it got warmer the cement settled back closer together, so over time with contracting it will get worse and worse. I contacted them over the Winter, they responded right away saying they would come out in warmer weather and inspect the issue. I called again in March and advised that I wanted them not only to look at the cracked pads but potentially repair other areas of my driveway. I was contacted again and advised they would come be last week March and provide feedback on the portion they poured that cracked and look at the entire drive a make repair recommendation and provide a quote. To date I have seen no quote or had an follow up phone calls. I understand the cement cracks but it should not after 3 years in area that does not get any car traffic. My assumption is they did not compact the ground properly from the start. So based on this experience I would have to down grade them from an A to a C, for not following thru. I want to install a deck but do not want to on cracked cement, as I am concerned that with more settling over time it will lead to water in my basement in the future. So I will have to shell out a couple of grand for new cement only after only 3 years, very very disappointed. 5/29/2015 - They did finally come out after I called twice and they called me back and apologized. They gave me a quote to repair the crack above along with a few other areas in my drive way. Because I want a deck over the portion mentioned, I can not wait for the crack to widen to have it filled, since once the deck is up the only way to fix in the future would require the deck to be pulled up. So to fix immediately with what they called a v cut they would charge me. I received a quote from another company at a much lower cost to seal the crack so in this case I decided to go with the lower quote.

Professional throughout the process and even after, gave me advice on what to do and not do to treat snow and ice without damaging concrete. Given that, it was still relatively new. NOTE: I have some experience with concrete and I kept a close watch on how everything was done. Very satisfied!

Brothers Joe & Mike Iaquanillo, owners. First meeting was personable & professional. Salesman outlined basics. Second meeting with Joe to clarify and set up final job. Mike supervised actual work and made sure dimensions, etc. were to our needs and taste. All work was very efficiently and professional completed. Romana staff were quick and careful. Romana Construction did a fine job on my kitchen. Once the contract was signed, their man Mike kept the workmen coming on a regular basis and when there was any type of delay with the work he was quick to inform me and let me know when the work would resume. I was told that the entire project would take about six weeks, and the work was finished in a little under that. The workmanship was fine throughout, and my new kitchen looks great.

It went very well.. Everyone was friendly and easy to work with. We made some changes as the job progressed - it all came out very nicely. I would gladly recommend them to anyone else.

Overall, I am very pleased with the work Romana did. It took a couple of calls to connect and get an appointment for an estimate, but communication was easy after that. I had done a lot of research on driveways, garage floors and concrete, and had two estimates, but didn't feel confident about those companies. Mike was able to answer all of my questions at the time of the estimate, and provided me with paperwork about their company, bonding and insurance, and addresses of homes where I could see driveways they had installed. I had a lot of technical questions about the specs of the products they were planning to use and the process, and was concerned about the freezing temperatures that were coming at the time the work was starting. I learned that they add chemicals if it will be too hot or too cold, to prevent freezing and to slow the curing process for stronger concrete. Mike gave me all the answers and provided me with the costs. His brother Joe was involved in doing the work and was my main contact at the house during the construction. He made some good suggestions that I went with, like curving the transition from the driveway to the walkways. The first afternoon, they started removing old concrete and digging out the lawn for the new walkway, and framed both walkways. They laid down a gravel compound and used a machine to compact it. I was impressed with how beautifully and swiftly the five men worked together. I expected clouds of dust when they removed the old concrete, but that didn't happen. The next morning, they arrived early and removed the rest of the old driveway concrete. They widened and deepened the driveway and framed it. The City Inspector stopped by to measure, and approved their work and depths. They laid a vapor barrier down first, then poured the new garage floor. Before they left, they put up a barrier with stakes and Caution tape. The following morning, they arrived early and laid a vapor barrier over the driveway ground and poured and finished the walkways and driveway down to the street. They were very kind about me taking photos and double-checking the depths with my ruler. Joe showed me pvc pipes they'd laid under the driveway for anything that needed to cross under it, like our sprinkler lines- a very good idea, and something I hadn't thought of. They did some cleanup before leaving. Two days later, their brother, Frank, came over to saw cuts in the concrete to allow for expansion. I was pleased to see him meticulously measure and place chalk cutting lines. He used a power spray to rinse all the concrete off before he left. Two days later, he returned to do some more cleanup of the street and apply a cure and seal compound. I'm very pleased with everything they did, and it looks beautiful. They were pleasant, polite, respectful to me and each other, were willing to address my concerns and put me at ease. They were precise, neat and did more than they promised.

Because he is very busy we scheduled the work to be done spring of 2015. I am very excited for the work to be done.

We got several estimates before deciding which company to hire for a driveway and walkway replacement. Romana was by far the most professional of all the companies we contacted. Beginning with his first visit to our home to see the job, Mike was courteous and professional. After performing his measurements, he provided us with a folder of information about the company, the work we wanted done, the estimate and a list of addresses he did concrete work at so we could see his work. He answered all of our questions during the visit and even a few more we called him with in the following days. He was very patient with us, listened to our concerns, and provided superb customer service. Once we signed with Romana to do the work, a date for starting the project was given, and the company arrived ready to work, just as scheduled. The guys were all very friendly and professional, they were careful not to damage surrounding areas, they did not leave any mess behind. They returned the next two days as scheduled, always being certain to address our concerns. Frank and the others took their time to provide us with an excellent finished job. we appreciate the great job they did! Romana Construction has one of the most professional group of guys working with them that I have ever seen. I would definitely recommend them to others and hire them again myself!

Romana Construction was very professional and easy to work with. Mike visited our home to view the project and answer our questions. He provided helpful suggestions and offered insight regarding stamped concrete patterns and colors. We opted to replace our driveway and garage floor, as well as the city sidewalk fronting our property. We also widened the driveway by adding a stamped concrete border on both sides. These borders transitioned into a sidewalk leading to the front porch and a sidewalk leading to the rear of the garage. Mike took careful measurements and asked pertinent questions to insure that he understood our desires. He provided us with a cost estimate on the spot, and invited us to Romana's office in Melvindale to view samples of stamped concrete patterns and colors. Mike provided us with a book containing numerous photos of completed stamped concrete projects, but cautioned that photos are not always a reliable indicator of how a finished project looks. Romana worked diligently at scheduling my job within a two-week period. We needed to empty our garage in order to replace the floor, and we had several other events occurring in our lives. As the date for the pouring drew close, Mike called every few days to appraise us of exactly what date our job would be done. The day of the pour, Joe arrived promptly at the stated time, along with a crew of 5-6 employees. The project took two days; one for demolition of the old concrete and constructing the forms, and the second day for pouring, finishing and stamping the concrete. The crew worked efficiently as a team, each knowing his job and quickly getting it done. Joe was open to suggestions on placing the forms; he worked diligently at getting the transition curves of the stamped borders to flow smoothly into their respective sidewalks. He also made suggestions, such as increasing the size of the front porch step. There was no cost for making these changes. The pouring and finishing of the concrete went as smoothly as the first day. This crew is well-practiced and many of them have been with Romana for several years. Various employees returned in the ensuing days to make the expansion cuts in the concrete and to fill dirt into the empty space along the edges of the driveway and sidewalks. They applied sealer to the concrete and even scrubbed the street to remove residue from job. Most importantly, no damage was done to any of our shrubs or trees. We were impressed with the care the employees took to be considerate of our property. We chose Romana over two other contractors, largely because they have completed many driveways in our subdivision over the past 10-12 years. Each of their jobs is marked with a stamp containing their name and the year the work was performed. Their price was the middle of the three bids we received. We have received many compliments on how nice our driveway and sidewalks look. We would highly recommend them.

Had a nightmare home improvement experience 12 years ago. Romana made me forget all about it. Mike is a great communicator. Always keeps you in the loop every step of the way. His professionalism and honesty were greatly appreciated. His crews not only took pride in their work, but also kept a very clean work area. I will not hesitate to contact them for future projects. Very professional. It took a few tries to get Mike and I to reach each-other but they were in the midst of busy season as was I so no one's fault there. Received a quote at the scheduled time, and while the quote was off from the final amount, it was not really Romana's fault. There were some unknowns (Tons of tree root's that needed a stump grinder). I also had them pour extra concrete so I could fit two cars side by side. Mike kept me informed on everything that was going to happen and what time Joe and the crew would show up to work. Joe and his crew showed up right on time and immediately got straight to work. Joe was very nice and explained what the process was and what they were going to do. I was impressed and pleased to see that they finished their demo work even though half-way through, it started pouring rain. I was worried about water (especially after the great flood of 2014) leaking into the basement so I mentioned to them multiple times about making sure it was sloped away from the house, which they did a great job on as well. Overall, driveway looks amazing and I'm extremely happy that I went with Romana.

This company was great! I love them. They were very punctual and very professional. I had a few hiccups with trying to contact them to schedule an appointment because they are so busy, but I am glad I didn't give up. Once my appointment was made the manager of the project called me a few days prior to the start of the project to confirm the process that was explained to me during the quote. Because I was not home during the time they were doing the project he called me everyday to let me know what was going on and kept me up to speed on the project until it was complete. Romana will be doing all my future concrete projects. Highly recommended.

Excellent! Romana was punctual - they had a large crew and all the equipment they needed to get the job done very quickly. They cleaned everything up and left the area in very good condition. They came back the day after they poured the cement to place the steps and seal the driveway, and again cleaned everything up. I would definitely hire them again for any future I may need.

It took awhile for them to get back to us (they were very busy), but when they did call - they estimated quickly and scheduled the work in a timely manner. They even called to bump us up sooner because they had a "postponement". They were very prompt and professional. Everyone knew their job and worked together to get the job done. They paid attention to detail and cleaned up very well. We are very pleased and would definitely recommend them. IT LOOKS BEAUTIFUL!

I was very impressed with all aspects of our experience with Romano Construction. They had an opening on the calendar come up a week before our scheduled date and called to ask if they could start right away; which was very helpful for us. They had the old driveway ripped up and the new poured and cut / treated in 3 days. Prior to starting we had been given a written quote with information about the process and an FAQ piece that answered all the questions that I had. The price was competitive for the work performed. The guys were very respectful and courteous and left us with a beautiful driveway and no mess. I highly recommend Romano Construction.

Romana was amazing they responded in a timely manner kept me informed on the updates and working with me around my schedule to confirm that the job was being completed to my satisfaction. The job was completed within one week as quoted to me offered recommendation to help make informed decisions, There was one mishap with the landscaping due to the heavy machines used, being damaged the owner called me at work to informed me of this and already took step to fix the problems to save me as little inconvenience as possible. Romana did a great job I will use them for all my projects.
