Romana Construction

I felt like that they would give a quality service. What I did not like about their service was they gave different quotations and I really got so confused. I was trying to figure out exactly what the quote was and the price. So I just set it aside. My wife and I decided to forget about it and we just shopped around. Though the project did not push through, I would say they were responsive. My friend used them for concrete works and driveway construction and if I wanted a driveway, I would contact them. They would still be on top of my list for concrete works and building a driveway.

They did a great job. The only slight problem, was we had to pressure them to start the project when they said they would. We just put a little pressure on them to be on time.

They were pretty good. They took a little bit of time returning the first call. The person who came out spoke finely. He spent some time explaining about what he would do. He came out on a Saturday so I would give him credit for that. The only thing was that they did not call me back immediately, initially but otherwise it seemed to be a decent company from what I know so far.

They were excellent. The price was reasonable and I think it was about $8000. We had a bunch of people come out and give us estimates and told us about how much it would cost, but he measured everything right away. The guy’s name is Mike and he went up there and took the measurements just like he had the job even before he got it. He sat down and took the time to explain stuff to us and when we called him with questions afterward, he would get back to us within a day. We picked him because of how seriously he took it. If we needed to use him again we absolutely would.

We used Romana in 1998 to pour a new driveway, we and were very pleased with the result. It was comforting to see that, in 2012, many of the same employees work for the company. Mike quoted the job and oversaw the project. He was/is very easy to work with. Very hot weather slowed the project a bit, but we were completely satisfied with every aspect of the job: planning/quoting, concrete work (and cleanup), step construction. I highly recommend Romana and would certainly use them again.

I did not do so well choosing my first contractor (before I joined Angie's List) so I did a lot of research, and got several estimates before choosing Romana. The estimate: I was given 3 written options in plain language with different prices and drawings. The crew arrived in several trucks to remove the old concrete, prepare it for the city inspector, and to remove the siding that that the old porch cap had been poured against. After the city inspection (required for porch caps), the crew arrived again in several trucks to pour the concrete. They were ready when the cement truck arrived. I can't say enough how hard they all worked in very hot weather. They were very well organized, very professional. Each member knew his job. The last part of the job required the siding to be reinstalled above the new porch cap and to replace the trim around my garage door that had been damaged in a storm. For each step of the process, I was kept informed of dates and times. Every effort was made to work around my schedule. Every step was explained clearly. This is a family business and it was obvious respect for each other and there was pride in their workmanship.

This company, it's owners and crew are the best. It took a few days to get an estimate lined up but Mike Sr. came out, on time, to measure, make suggestions and give me an estimate. He took the time to explain the mix of the cement, the procedure and installation and answered the questions I had. No high pressure sales pitch! We had a few other estimates with companies that were less money BUT they did not give details or drawings of what they would do. Only measured and gave a price. When I called to set up the installation, Mike Jr. came out to set things up. They are very busy and we had to wait for a few weeks for the work to begin but it was worth it. Everyone always arrived on time and worked very hard in the record breaking heat. The work was done perfectly but rain popped in just as the bottom half of the driveway was being finished. It moved out again and the crew re-smoothed the drive and waited with a plastic cover in case the storm came back. All radar reports were showing the storm moved out. Unfortunately, it rained again after everyone left and messed up the brush lines. More than likely it would not affect the function and use of the driveway. But Mike Jr. and another crew member came back a few days later and wire brushed, sanded and resealed the sections (on their hands and knees) even though they were confident that the driveway would be fine. In the meantime, I was told to keep an eye on it and if anything happens they will be back out to completely redo those sections. Also, I was was given a discount on my final payment and an extra seal was put between the house and drive for free because I had been worried that maybe rain would get down in that section. Mike jr. had assured me it would be ok but did that for me anyway. These people are kind, considerate, listen, explain and really know their business. I am very pleased with our porch and driveway.

They were excellent and used top of the line products. They layed grate and stone in the hole and covered with cement. They didn't park in the driveway so they wouldn't damage anything. They hauled the cement in using a wheel barrow. The entire process was completed in two days using 4 to 5 guys.

Mike and his team were very professional from the begining of putting together the estimate to completing the project. Mike brought all of his sub-contractors to the house to review the project before providing us an estimate. Mike had very good design ideas that he shared with my wife and I. The estimate was very thorough and I felt confident that there would not be any hidden charges. All sub-contractors used by Romana were excellent. The job site was cleaned everyday before they left.The remodeled kitchen exceeded our expectations.

Initially the job was delayed a bit, because they were finishing another job. Once they began our work, however, they were timely and efficient. They offered constuctive suggestions along the way and they cleaned up all debris. Our original front porch had some dwarf Japanese maple trees that they tried very hard to save. Unfortunatley replanting a well-established tree is a long shot and even more so with this type of maple. They also installed some pipes under the drive for future electric lines. All in all we were very pleased with their work and would recommend them to others. We also felt the way another customer did - they take enough pride in their work that they stamp their name on it!

Start to finish easy to work with, on time & professional

First met with Mike for our estimate. Very nice guy with an attention for detail. Made very thorough map of work to be done. Started work on a Thursday afternoon, 10 days ahead of estimated work date. Mike's brother Joe brought his crew and they busted out the old cement very quickly, framed in the areas and cleaned up afterwards. Friday the job was inspected and they poured the cement being sure to tape everything to keep people off the cement. Saturday morning one person arrived early to cut the cement and the job was completed within the hour. We couldn't be happier with the whole experience. We will definitely hire them again. We are already thinking of jobs for them. We will recommend them to everyone looking for a contractor. Above all they were very respectful and professional. Great job!

I tried over the course of two months to get the quote in writing and up to now never got one (the Angie's list recommendation is to always get the quote in writing). I contacted him several times said I wanted to start the work, he replied several times (with verbal quote), and still I got nothing. I understood when he said he wasn't comfortable scanning and emailing, so I said I was good with getting the quote in the mail. I was actually impressed in the beginning and was looking forward to them doing the work.

Came to house day after I called and gave me detailed estimate and description of work. Price was very competitive. They agreed to work with my calendar to do the work when I would be there. Removed old driveway in one morning. Poured driveway two days later and provided final cuts in concrete day after that. They handled all the permit requirements with the city which was a definite plus. The work was very neat with no damage to any surrounding area of grass, bushes or sidewalk. I was so impressed with their timeliness, quality and price that I will definitely consider them when I get around to remodeling my kithchen.

Romna Construction was one or several that I called.Ihad to leave a message and it took several hours for the call to be returned. When Mike Sr. called me back he was able to come out the next day bu twe waited till saturday to accomadate my schedule. Mike was right on time and made sure he knew actcaly what I wanted done before he gave me a written estimate. When I called them back a few days later Mike came back out to sign the contract[again around my schedule] and get a deposit. It was asurpriziling small amount. Due to bad weather the job was delayed a week and a half. The night before Mike Jr. called to say that they would be there the next day between 7:30-7:45. They[4or5] arrived at 7:36 and got right to work. Joe was very nice and told me just what they were going to. He was also very kind and patient with my husband who has dementia and can keep asking the same questions over and over again.They were packed and cleaned up by 12:20. I couldn't believe how quickly it was done and you would never know that they had just left because the area was so clean. Pne worker came back the next day to put the cuts in. I have to say that it looks better then I expected

I left a message on a machine over a week ago, then with a lady at the office two days ago, she assured be that I would be called back after six that day.

we contacted romana construction to obtain an estimate for a stamped concrete front walkway, porch, and backyard patio. mike came out within a couple of days and upon leaving said he would put the estimate in our mailbox in two to three days. after waiting for one wek, we called mike and he said we were next on the list and he would bring it over the next day. after several more days we called again. we did not receive a phone cal nor have we received an estimate. this does not seem the way to do business. we thought mike was knowledgable and seemed interested in our job, so we were very disappointed in the outcome.

Arrived when they said they would to give estimate. Came when scheduled to remove existing concrete and steps, pouring concrete the same day. Instillation of steps was done the next day. Communication was very good from this company- one day delay because of rain, but we were notified promptly of date change. Railings were delayed one week because of a company back up, but we were notified and they came on day specified. We would absolutely recommend Romana Construction Company to anyone! They were professional, courteous and very easy to work with.

He came out and gave me a bid, but he wasn’t able to handle the job. It wasn’t really his cup of tea. My job was unique and not a regular job, so he said he was going to have a problem giving me a concrete to the sides.

We didn't use them and had to call them a couple of times.

Everyone that came to work at my house was very polite and professional. The project was completed in a very timely manner, and for a very fair price. I would highly recommend Romana Construction to anyone considering remodeling their kitchen.

At first it look a little while to get ahold of them. Once I did everything went fine. The came out when they said they would and did the work on time. The driveway was done well but the steps could have been better. Overall, everything went fine.

Excellent work. Mike is very detail oriented and a perfectionist. He gave us a detailed plan to start including a timeline and stuck to it. He personally checked all the work his guys did and made sure it was good. The work done was extensive but they got it done in a timely fashion and did excellent quality work. They addressed all our concerns and were easy to work with. I will definitely have them do more work at my house and would recommend them to anyone. They were referred to me by my son who had them do an extensive addition and remodel on his house 4 years ago. He was happy with Romana's work and the addition is still perfect today.

I called the construction company and set up an appointment. Mr. Romano came over and gave me an estimate in the rain. Mr. Romano is retired now and his sons Mike & Joe run the company now. Mike & Joe are very professional, have college educations and excellent communication skills. I called the office again wanting more information and soon after was discussing the project with Mike. He was very easy to talk to and agreed to come over himself to personally discuss what I wanted. Mike and his team of workers did the actual work. I had an excellent conversation with him too and changed my mind about some things. The scheduled day of the job was hot and the work had to be done quickly. I watched the men work beginning from just in front of the garage all the way down to the side walk. The cement was poured, taken to its destination and poured. Then the guys spread it all around and into place. The work went very smoothly and never stopped until the driveway was done. ***Update. As of March 2012. They put the hole for the fence only a half inch from one of the cuts in the driveway. It was not very deep, which could be what caused the problem. It took a big chunk out between the slice and the hole where the rod holding the fence post is. I told them about it and they did not come out when they said they would. I have some other work that I thought I would use them for, but I want them to fix this work before they start that. I called him to ask why he didn't come out and he said that he thought the weather was too cold, but I had to call him to get that information. He did not let me know himself. ***Update. As of May 19, 2012. I reported that there was a problem with the work, and they came out before noon the next morning and patched where the hole was. They said if it doesn't hold that they will have to come out again and try something different. After he patched it, he told me of 2 other alternatives they could try but I wish we could have discussed the situation and the other options before he started the work. For now though, it is resolved.

It went quite well. Am very pleased with the results. They were a little higher in price than a couple others I checked out, though. But perhaps the others would not have done such a good, professional job. Very happy with the attention to detail and the way my questions were answered.
