Brad was amazing, and I cannot recommend him highly enough. He was able to give us a quote through email by viewing some pictures of the proposed project. (He really worked with our budget too!) Since the quote was through email, he was able to get the project started incredibly quickly, since we didn't require an in-home visit to do the estimate. We had originally asked for just the wood paneling and wet bar/cabinetry to be removed. Brad did this super fast. However, once that was down, we realized the drywall was in really bad shape, and it needed to be completely replaced. We also needed some of the wiring reworked. Brad gave us an estimate, and again, was able to work within our budget. Even though he was incredibly busy, he was able to work us in between other jobs and finished up well within our proposed timeframe. Brad kept the room clean and kept us up-to-date on how the job was progressing. He will be our first call when we're ready to move ahead with additional projects!
Description of Work: Wall of wood paneling taken down. Wet bar and the surrounding cabinetry and plumbing also removed. Drywall behind both needed to be removed and replaced. Some electrical work within the walls.

Called ahead to say when he would be arriving at the house, and placed plastic runners over my carpet so as not to dirty it. Did the job in a timely and tidy manner and cleaned up well after he was done with the work.
Description of Work: Brad came to replace the fan in my bathroom as well as to repair drywall in my basement that had become dampened by a leak. He was prompt, with good communication and follow-up. I will definitely have him back as well as recommending him to my friends.

I am very happy with the service I received. Brad was VERY good to work with! He was prompt with responding with a quote and even "squeezed" my job in to get it done before there was any water damage to the roof. He contacted me the day that he was coming out and *voila* when I came home from work that evening the job was done! The repair was done well and the area was free of debris. (I have had repairmen leave large messes behind and I appreciated having no mess to clean this time.) I will definitely contact him for future repairs.

See previoius comments. The project went exceptionally well start to finish. No complaints. Finished product is everything I'd hoped for and more.
Description of Work: Our master bath needs fairly extensive remodeling. Brad provided me with a comprehensive quote for the entire project. When a leak worsened behind the shower, Brad broke divided the overall project into phases so that we could tackle the urgent need first. He was able to mobilize his crew and complete "Phase I" quickly and completed the work before the Christmas holiday when we had lots of guests due to arrive. Phase I included removal of rotted tub/shower enclosure, installation of ceramic tile, new shower faucet, and installation of new tub/shower door. Brad followed his proposed schedule exactly which was a huge help as we were only displaced from our main shower/bath for about 4 days. Brad and his crew exhibited the utmost professionalism, integrity, and consideration . I left for work each day and had complete confidence in the security of my home. Each day I returned home from work to find the house spotless (and remodel work is always messy) and the work progressing as promised. The finished product is beautiful and I will not hesitate to use Brad to complete the remaining phases of the bathroom and many other projects in our home.

Brad did a great job with this project! He got the tile removed quicker than expected. He kept us informed as he progressed with the project. He did a great job with the joist repair which was necessary to make sure the new toilet would not sink like the old one. Brad had a big challenge with the installation of the tub and surround because the old window trim and floor register made the installation of a 32" tub impossible. Brad helped us find a 30" tub surround and did a great job of making everything fit. The window trim looks great and he replaced the old register with a new smaller register which looks much more modern than the original unit. All of the trim work looks great. Brad worked with Plumber Randy and did a great job replacing all the old cast iron plumbing. In addition, they took on some additional work outside the scope of the project to replace an enclosed sump pump in the laundry area and bringing the plumbing up to code to allow us to use the basin in the laundry room again. We would be happy to use Brad again in the future.
Description of Work: Complete Bathroom remodel including removal of old tile, floor, subfloor, tub, vanity, toilet and unnecessary soffit. Installed new tub and surround, toilet, vanity, bathroom fan. Also repaired joist below bathroom subfloor which had sustained damage due to water leak. Also reworked the plumbing by removing old cast iron plumbing with new PVC. In addition to this work, also replaced an old submersible sump pump which was encased in an enclosed crock. Re-workeed the plumbing to bring it up to code.

The work went very well! Brad was always on time, very professional. When he had others working on site, was always on top of what was happening & kept good track of the work. He also worked well with the park manager at the time, Harry Jones, and was willing to work within the limits set by the regulations of the mobile home park Sycamore Village. He was very quick in his work, but accurate, no sloppiness at all. Work site was orderly from start to finish of all projects done at this site. He was also willing to take the time to explain just what was going to be done & time expected for work to be finished. He did well at staying within the time limits he set for the work. I'd recommend him to anybody who asks.
Description of Work: Shingles on shed were removed and replaced with new shingles that should last about 20 years. 2) September 2009 old front porch was removed along with about 9' X 15' of cracked concrete. Concrete was replaced with new and pad made symmetrical with 3' x 12.5' new poured concrete. Also, new carport was built on site of old porch with shingles to last about 25 years. Gutters were added to carport & carport side of mobile home. New steps were built up to door which were much easier to climb with solid railings either side of stairs. 3) March 31, 2010 old back steps were removed & replaced with new steps made with treated wood, also easier to climb. Also, a heavy-duty lattice was built at west end of carport to add a little privacy when sitting outside.

Brad is extremely prompt - we contacted him via e-mail through the Angie's list site and he got back to me the same day. We were communicating through the e-mails, as this was the easiest for us. With the pictures of the area that needed repairs and our description of it, he provided us with the estimate and gave us the rough scenario what might be encountered as the work was being done. he was very accurate, and very detailed. Because of his and ours schedules we agreed to have the work done when we were out of town. We just left the materials we could provide and he worked on this as promised. He was very prompt in answering any questions, and the work was done according to our discussion ahead of time. We found everything done, clean and ready when we got back. We also asked him to look at some repairs that we needed to the garage walk-in door and he provided us with the estimate. We were so happy with the work he did for us that we accepted his offer and had him do other repairs as well. His professionalism and promptness in contacting us and addressing all our inquiries makes these repairs an example for everybody else.

Mr. Greene never came out to my house but instead gave me a quote via email after receiving the kitchen remodel design (via email) from Home Depot where I purchased the majority of the materials needed. I felt that his quote was outrageously high, and my conclusion for this was because he really wasn't interest in doing my project. He might have lowered his prices because of his statement to "Please let me know what you think of these prices and if they are what you had in mind spending." At the time I had nothing to compare it with, but once I received a second quotation, I knew he was out of any further consideration.
Description of Work: I called the number provided in the Angies' list report on 7/14/11 and Brad Greene called me back a couple days later. He asked for details about my job which consisted of removal of old kitchen cabinets and ceramic flooring and installing new cabinets and flooring. Plumbing and electrical work would also need to be done for the new sink, diswasher, over-range microwave and anticipated future purchase of a refrigerator with ice maker. A half wall would need to be trimmed out and a small counter-top / sitting type peninsula built out from that wall.

Response from Carpentry Plus Building Inc
I do get a lot of calls from people wanting prices and unfortunately many of them are looking for just the cheapest price. On the initial call I try my best to assess their budget and what they want as an end result to see if it is even feasible for them and me. If I can't get a clear sense of budget and project scope, I may choose to focus my time and energy on those customers that can provide me with that. Many times people may not know how costly certain projects are. I don't advertise being cheap and I don't want to be, I prefer to be able to have the freedom to spend the time and resources needed to make the customer happy and give them what they want. Even exceed their expectations if possible. I try to explain to people that you can't get top quality work with excellent reviews and feedback and be one of the cheap guys at the same time, it just doesn't work that way. Almost all of my customers are people that have read my reviews, liked what they see and understand the value in not going with the lowest price. If she was able to find someone to do the work to her liking and within her budget then I am happy for her.

Brad worked with us throughout the project, he explained options, and gave us all the choices without forcing us to compromise on quality or price. He was able to deliver several amazing upgrades not included in our original plans including a huge egress window that provided fantastic natural light, and decoratively framing out the duct work and beams to maximize head space. He worked with multiple sub contractors who were all courteous, prompt, and highly skilled.

This was the second time we had Brad do work for us and he did an excellent job. We needed to get a new sink and disposal put in before an upcoming bridal shower and Brad accomodated us even with his extremely busy schedule. The faucet he put in was one of the new Delta ones that turn on and off just by touching it. Brad had never installed one of these before, and even though it was quite a challenge, he stayed about twice as long as he was expecting late into the evening to finish the job without having to come back another day. We are already hiring him for some electrical and drain tile installation in the next couple of weeks. Thanks Brad!

Brad was able to do the work the day after I called him. He was late for the appointment because the previous job he was on had taken longer than he had anticipated. He did call as soon as he could to make sure it was okay to stop by. He was able to fix my leaking kitchen faucet and my toilet right away with no problems or parts. He did have to get parts for my out-door frost- free faucet, which had to be replaced. I have been looking for hinges for my front door for some time with no luck. Brad was able to get them that day and replace them. He also noticed that I needed a seal for my door and replaced that as well. He also removed some warped plastic trim from the door allowing me to prep the door for paint. He was also able to give me some estimates on a few other jobs that I need to have done in the future. Brad was professional and cleaned up completely. I will call him again.

We had Brad come in to remodel a walk-in closet, as well as installing some shelving units in the garage. He was punctual when he showed up to look at our place, and was very patient with our questions. He was able to give us a variety of options in terms of the materials that he will use, the design of the closet/garage space, and such. He gave us a preliminary quote for the closet and garage before he left, and the final quote that included the floor price was provided to us after a day. He was able to fit our job into his schedule within a week or so, and he finished one day before he said he would. Brad was clean and neat and kept the working area tidy. We were very impressed and will definitely hire him back for future renovation jobs.

The job went very well. In his estimate he also included some helpful suggestions and recommendations that could be implemented either with this current job or in the future (he included an itemized costs for these). He was professional and corteous. As he was proceeding with his work he noticed that a window in the lower level of the house was in desperate need of replacement, he was able to add this to our contract and still finish the job in a timely manner. The area was kept quite neat. And the house looks fabolous. We are very happy with the job.
Description of Work: Brad installed vinyl siding over existing wood siding, We also had him install the soffits, a side door and two eplacement windows (one in the bathroom and one in the lower level bedroom - the door and windows were also trimmed out). Some of the wood siding had to be replaced first because it wad damaged,

I am very happy with the job! Brad Greene, the owner, did an excellent job of installing the tub, tile, and ceiling fan. The existing drywall in my house is 3/4 inches thick, covered by about 1/8 inch of plaster. The few patches I've made never come out flush without hours of patching and sanding over and over again. Brad's drywall work is a perfect match to the existing adjacent work. The work was completed sooner than Brad estimated, except for the extra drywall work. Even that only took longer because of the care taken to apply a thin coat of plaster over the drywall to match the existing. I think most contractors would have thrown up a sheet of drywall and called it quits. I obtained another bid for the work beforehand that came in $500 above the Carpentry Plus estimate. I would not hesitate to recommend Carpentry Plus for a similar project. Brad's work is excellent quality and he is very responsive to questions and phone calls.
Description of Work: Carpentry Plus removed a vinyl shower / tub enclosure and installed a new bathtub, gypsum board, and ceramic tile. They also replaced the ceiling fan with a more powerful one. I purchased the materials separately and had them delivered to my home. While installing the gypsum board, it was determined that a portion of the drywall sheet adjacent to the tub enclosure had to be replaced because the edge (where the seam would be) was damaged by the previous installer.

Contacted the company in November, received an estimate immidiately. This job went very quickly from start to finish, the only delay was waiting for the windows to arrive. Mr Greene showed up in a timely manner and made sure that he kept the area exceptionally tidy. He was always extremely professional. This job was performed in the middle of winter and yet Mr. Greene made sure that everything was ready for the installation before he removed the existing windows so that we would have minimum heat loss. Definitely recommend this company. In fact I plan on using them again real soon to have new siding installed.
Description of Work: Removed, installed and trimed out windows in Bathroom, Kitchen and Living Room. I requested a deeper sill for the window in the Kitchen which was carried out. Went from a picture window to a bow window in the living room. Had to remove some of the siding outside in order to accomplish this.

Working with Brad was extremely convenient. I was able to contact him and talk about the problem and we discussed ideas over the phone. I sent Brad pictures of the areas that needed repair (a piece of detached siding and a separate chimney flashing leak) and he was able to schedule a time to fix the areas when I was at work. Brad came by, fixed the areas based upon our conversation and the pictures, and then sent an invoice via e-mail. The work was sound and I haven't had any problems since. In fact, I called Brad initially because the first handyman that "fixed" the problem didn't quite do the job. Not only did Brad complete the work effectively, he said that if there was a problem with the job or if the siding became detached, he would come back out and make things right. Nice guarantee - but he did the work right the first time and no problems since! He accepted payment via PayPal, further increasing the convenience of working with him. I really liked how I was able to coordinate everything over the phone and e-mail with Brad (including payment). This is the type of convenience and workmanship that is rare to find in providers. I have kept Brad's information and plan to work with him moving forward, especially as the weather is turning warmer! Highly recommended!

Brad is fantastic. He remodeled our bathroom in the fall, so we asked him to return to help us with the closets. He listened to our needs, viewed the old spaces, and came up with a plan (detailed drawing) for his recommendations for a new organizing system. Each closet was a different size/shape and in different places in the house. He thought of every possible way we would use the space, and accommodated us. The result is just great: Overflow pantry off the kitchen that has increased our storage by 10-fold compared to its original shape; outfitted the cedar closet on our second floor to be truly useful. The amount of space we have for storage is incredible. Plus, with the custom shelving, each closet solution perfectly fits our lifestyle and needs. In addition, it's nice to have sturdy shelves, made of wood, and customized by function.....so much better than those flimsy organization units that cost a boat-load and never really fit the space well.
Description of Work: We had Carpentry Plus tear out old shelving/hanging rods in two walk-in closets and build custom organization systems for each. This increased not only the visual appeal and ease to locate items, it tripled the capacity in each closet. Turning wasted space into usable, accessible space.
