Brad and his family were Awsome! They opened my stairway to the basement of home by removing a large wall in my living room and also 2/3 wall in my dining room.I have a ranch style home that I wanted to include the basement into the rest of the home without having to open a door and walk down a closed stairwell. He removed both walls and built an oak railing that runs down where the wall was and then turns and runs where the dining room wall was and trimmed all to match the rest of the oak in my home. There was a lot involved in this job, demolition, electrical, carpentry, drywall, finish work, paint work and building oak railing along with all finish and trim work. And he did all this ahead of the original schedule that we discussed all while hardly even noticing he was in the center of our home.Every day was left very clean! This ended up being a huge improvement in the appearance of my home and I was so concerned about this project.Bottom line the whole experience was great and I will be referring anyone looking for work to Brad and his family and hopefully using them again for future projects I have in mind:)

Brad was great to work with. We appreciated his advice and helping us through options for the bathroom remodeling project. Brad did an excellent job in a reasonable amount of time. We were relieved to have a professional like him when faced with unexpected mold under the flooring. He fixed it and we could move on with the remainder of the project as planned.

Brad is awesome to work with! We had a complete remodel of our kitchen done. He rewired, plumbed, relocated our gas line, patched walls, and hung the kitchen cabinets that we ordered. He went over and above our expectations. There were several instances where I said he could do only so much, as it would be good enough. That was not good enough for him! He put fresh drywall in areas, found a way to get a light mounted in the ceiling where I wouldn't have expected, and made sure all of the walls were ready for paint, even though that was not part of the original expectations. He is friendly, courteous, and punctual. I would have no problem recommending Brad and using his services in the future. Highly recommended!

After Brad did an incredible job on our mother's kitchen my sister hired him. Here is her review....."We wish we had found Brad earlier. He did an amazing job on both our kitchen and bathroom remodels. He and his workers were timely, professional, respectful about keeping messes to the absolute minimum and did an excellent job. The work was done quickly, he communicated well throughout the process and the end result was beyond our expectations. We also found his rates to be very reasonable, especially considering the quality of work he does. We will use Brad again for sure!
Description of Work: Brad and his crew replaced the kitchen countertops and under mount sink. This was very complicated due to the kitchen design requiring the temporary removal of the built in microwave/oven and several cupboards. Brad also removed old ceramic tile from the bathroom floor and replaced it with beautiful wood laminate. This also required new subflooring.

My parents (age 82 and 90) had wanted to update their 50 year old kitchen for years but the task seemed overwhelming. Our primary concern was finding a contractor who was trustworthy, ethical, and easy to work with. After researching Angie?s list we were very lucky to find Brad Greene. From the initial consultation through the entire project Brad was extremely helpful, upfront, and professional. His workmanship, and his countertop subcontractor?s, was exceptional. They are both perfectionists, which was evident throughout the process, and the final outcome is beautiful. We could not have hoped for anything better. We highly recommend Brad for any project you have in mind.
Description of Work: The job included the removal of an old backsplash with major wall repairs, the installation of a sink, garbage disposal, gas range, dishwasher, and overhead microwave. Part of the flooring also needed replacement (a surprise that Brad handled without a hitch). He even helped redesign the cupboards above the stove to accommodate the new microwave.

t we have already gotten things that went into it. Brad was We live in an old farmhouse and our downstairs bathroom was badly overdue for remodeling. This was also the first time we have tried to remodel-so we didn't understand the all the things that went into it. Brad was very patient and understanding with all our questions. He also explained what he was going to do-before he did it. Brad was helpful in helping us pick out and up fixtures, flooring and our new counter top. When it turned out not to be the one we ordered he went to bat for us with the dealer and made a difficult process much easier. We are more then happy with the quality of the work done. In fact we have already gotten another estimate from brad for more remodeling work. My wife and I can highly recommend Brad, and plan to use his services in the future

Absolutely wonderful. I had originally wanted to do a bathroom renovation, but do to my financial situation was unable to complete. However, Brad was willing to adjust estimate to complete the work I could afford. From the day Brad came to give estimate, he was in constant communication on next steps. It turned out better than I could have hoped for, the room looks like the closet had been there the entire time. He is very concerned about how he leaves the house, always had floor covers down, and vacuumed floors when he left. Family owned business, trusted him with the key to the house when I could not be there -- says a lot about an individual when you're willing to give them a key. I could go on and on...bottom line would definitely recommend to anyone and will definitely use them again

I have hired Brad twice in the last two months, as we were getting to move and had a list of things needing repair, and we were completely satisfied with the quality of his work. Brad was the epitome of professionalism and very responsive (unlike other carpentry and repair people.) He called back right away, came over for a bid right away, performed the jobs expediently. He also followed up afterwards to make sure I was satisfied. I would highly recommend Carpentry Plus to any homeowner.

To be fair, I could not like the look of the faucet that he suggested I purchase, so I purchased a less expensive one that had the right aesthetic look for my kitchen (and fit - that was the difficult issue). The problem, though was not with the faucet itself, but with the quality of installation. The faucet is still functioning, but the week after we had it installed it came loose from the sink. I know we should have called the contractor to come and repair it, but he'd complained so loudly to my husband about the faucet that we didn't want to deal with being blamed for the problem. But - I've seen a lot of faucets, cheapo ones and high quality ones, and they all were adhered to the sink! I can't imagine why that would be our fault.

Can't provide too many details - but jobs went very well and I was and still am very pleased. In the case of the garage - I had scraped the old wood siding in preparation for painting it but after looking at it I realized that no coat of paint would make it look presentable. On top of that the side entrance door was failing. When the garage was built there was no entrance door but the owners of that time cut into the front framework and installed a door. This action weakened the existing frame. Brad saw this and suggested that to do the job right reinforcing posts needed to be installed to the existing structure as well as the concrete floor. This he did with 6x6 treated lumber posts. The result - a garage front that is not only sturdy but looks good too.
Description of Work: I had three separate jobs - 1) replace side entrance door and storm door; 2) replace back storm and entrance door; 3) replace entrance door on garage and install vinyl siding on front of garage. All three jobs were more complicated than they sound.

Brad was very good to work with. He is very is personable and also very knowledgeable about a large variety of projects/things to be done around the home. He seems honest and I also appreciated that he took the time to explain the work and answer all of my questions. Unlike other handymen companies I have used before, Brad actually completed the work himself , even though he had assistance for bigger projects. I would not hesitate use Brad in the future and would definitely recommend him to others.

This experience went better than I could have ever imagined. I anticipated we would need a new door. On an old 1920's house with the original front door that could have cost us a lot of money. As it turned out the company was able to find a fix for the door that saved us hundreds of dollars and they did the job in a little over a week. The office manger kept in constant contact with me which was very helpful. The actual repair took about 15-20 minutes and they were willing to work with our schedule. I was very impressed.

We could not be happier. Brad may not be your cheapest estimate, but this was a large project and there were no "hidden" surprises, he definitely goes the extra mile. It took 5 weeks, with a hard deadline, we left on vacation the day after finishing. We were having walls removed and new walls built, meaning a lot of mess. The first thing that was done were plastic walls built to keep the dust down as much as possible, which really helped. All workers were courteous and conscientious. Because of the hard deadline, Brad was willing to work later and on the weekend, of course, only if it was okay with us. The workmanship was excellent on all parts. If any problems arose, Brad was right there to handle. And considering the mess that construction can be, they did a good job cleaning up each night. I've heard many horror stories about contractors and I am very particular. I was kept in the loop on all issues, with Brad's expertise bringing to light my ideas. This, although tiring, was a good experience and we have already hired Brad for additional jobs. If you want it done right, I would highly recommend talking it over with Brad and Carpentry Plus.

The removal and repair went very well. There were initial difficulties with the tile installation, however the necessary adjustments were made and with only a minor delay the work was completed. All of the work was superbly done - the outcome is spectacular. This is the fourth job Carpentry Plus has done for me. As in the other three the work is of exceptional quality, fairly priced and done within the time parameters established. Absolutely no reservation in recommending this company -

This will be a little bit of a strange review because what I am so impressed with is what this company didn't do! If this review seems to long to read, just skip to the last paragraph. We called Brad because we thought we had a water problem in our basement. We had several people look at it. They all were sure that we had water damage and we were anticipating a very costly repair - full of unknowns, only possible to find out about by tearing out a wall (costly just to do that). Several people told us very seriously that we had mold and water damage. They touched the carpet on the floor and told us it was wet. When my husband and I felt the carpet, we didn't feel any moisture, but, who knew? (Brad did not tell us he thought the carpet felt wet.) Then they pointed to a spot in the ceiling tile that had obvious water damage. We had a bunch of bookcases against the wall that supposedly had the damage, so before anyone could tear out the wall we had to clear out the bookcases. We had various estimates for the cost of tearing out the wall. Brad's estimate included also looking into our downspouts with a camera to see if they were working properly, but his estimate was higher than the other estimates. I hired Brad in spite of the fact that his estimate was higher because I felt I could trust him to give me clear and honest feedback as the project went on, in part because he was not part of a large company, but was the person who would be working on the project personally. I come from a family of small businessmen and trust that type of interchange - I don't like feeling like I'm being handled by salespeople. I just want to talk straight to whoever is going to be doing a job and find out what it is, what it costs, without any jazz in between. (I'll keep my language clean here.) Anyway, for those reasons I thought I had a better chance of having only necessary work done, or, to put it another way, of not having unnecessary work done with Carpentry plus than if I hired a bigger company because we could get lost in a big company with various levels of people working on the project. So I actually picked Carpentry Plus, the company with higher priced estimate to do the work because it is smaller. When I told Brad that, he almost sounded like he was trying to talk me out of hiring him, because he was more expensive than the others! What a refreshing change from some of the heavy marketers that we had looking at the project. In any case, I turned out to be much more right in my thought process than I could have ever predicted. Brad got as far as tearing out a row of ceiling tiles, and told me he thought he had found the problem, and it didn't involve water damage from outside. There had been a nest of squirrels up in the ceiling, and the water damage was urine from the squirrels. He told me he saw no evidence that I had a water damage problem, and he didn't see any reason to go ahead and tear out the wall. He cleaned out the nest and put the ceiling back together. We realized that what looked like mold was just a different type of varnish on half of the wall, not mold. I asked him what he thought was the reason for the musty smell downstairs, and what I should do about it. He said it was just a very wet summer and he recommended getting a dehumidifier and cleaning the carpets professionally. (You notice neither of these things are jobs that he does or can benefit from us doing.) He then told us he would refund the unused part of the deposit we had made on the project. A few days later I got a phone call in which he said that since we didn't seem to have a water problem, he didn't see why we should have him check our downspouts either, and that if we liked, he would refund an additional $300 that he would have charged for looking in the downspouts. I have to say, I'm stunned. I don't think I have ever had a workman come into my house, diagnose what he thinks we need to have done, give me an estimate, have me put down a 50% deposit, start the project and then tell us after a small bit of exploration that he honestly doesn't think we need to do the job at all and then offer to give us our money back. I am sure that the other two companies who gave us a price for doing this job would have simply gone ahead, torn out the wall, and charged us our agreed price for doing it. It was an exploratory job - tearing a wall out to see if there was mold behind it - so they could certainly have followed through on the work order and told us several thousands of dollars later that, luckily, they didn't find anything wrong. And we would have been grateful to have been saved a bigger job in the future. While Brad was here he also fixed several other things in a reasonable, rational way for us. Our front door didn't latch well, so cold air used to rush in all winter. One person told us we would need a $500-$800 new door. Another company told us we would have to tear out the whole wall adjacent to the door too (in a very charming mid-century modern house with nice woodwork) and that would cost about $1000. Brad did a quick repair job with a screwdriver while he was standing there, essentially for free, which he says will hold us for 2-3 years. Then we could look again to see what we could do with the door. (I doubt he would recommend replacing the door or the whole wall to fix a latch that doesn't work properly.) We had holes punched in our walls from a renegade power wheelchair. He plastered those back to smoothness. We had ugly black gunk on the backsplash behind our kitchen sink. He replaced the caulk and now it looks great. He spent quite a bit of time here, finding out that we didn't have a moisture problem and fixing incidental things, and in the end refunded $300 back from the 50% deposit we had given him for the basement job. I can't really speak to the quality of Brad's work on a big remodel job, because he didn't do that kind of work for us. But, this is what I can say. He is very pleasant to deal with and I believe he has a lot of knowledge and care about what he does. But what I really want to say is that I am very impressed with his honesty and integrity. Really impressed. I think he went way above and beyond what most companies would have done in this respect. I am so glad we hired him - we ended up actually not having to do an expensive repair job because of his honesty and integrity.
Description of Work: checked our basement for water damage and did a few unrelated minor repairs in our house
