Hire this guy! I am in the contracting business and this is definenately the kind of company you want to use. They answered the phone when I called and made the appointment the next day. Ray was very informative. He described why we were having our problems with smoke and how to prevent it. He did his work quickly and neatly and said "see you next year"! You bet he will! I will hire him again.

This house is new to me and I was unsure of the safety and status of the chimney. High Hat did a nice job of explaining the condition of my chimney and fireplace and reminding me of things I needed to do to use it safely. The chimney was cleaned with no mess at all in the house.

Punctual, professional, left absolutely no mess, and gave us helpful advice on keeping the windows clean. Will definitely be using again. (Who knew that ash could be used to clean the windows?)

He worked hard at loosening a rusted damper, then cleaning out tons of debris that had composted in the chimneys. Gave me advice on keeping the dampers operational, advice on purchasing glass doors for the fireplaces, and fought off a swarm of yellow jackets on the roof. Very friendly, knowledgeable, and efficient. No extra charges!

They did a really good job, and when they came over they were very professional, and clean. They also shared information about the fireplace which I didn't know before - like what kind of fireplace doors I should get if I wanted to get doors. They told me about the various cracks and stuff that might show up and when I should worry about them. They even offered to come back in the spring to check the vent on top of the chimney.

I highly recommend this company. It was easy to schedule the service call. Ray arrived early. He is very pleasant and professional. He explained the process to me before he began. He recommended that we purchase a more appropriately sized grate for the fireplace (and named several places to get it from) and saved me $250 by telling me how to do a repair myself. He cleaned up so well you cannot tell he was here. We will definitely have him back every year.

As usual... He was on time, very professional, and did a great job cleaning the chimney as well as the yearly inspection of my damper and bricks. When I purchased my home 6 years ago, High Hat not only cleaned my chimney, but repaired the crown (actually rebuilt the crown), tuck-pointed the exterior and added stainless chimney caps. He did such a great job that I've had him back ever since. Also showed me how to clean the glass doors. Thank you High Hat.

Everything went great! The appointment was at 8:00, he showed up on time and the work was completed within 30 minutes. He ordered a top of the line damper, showed me how it worked and that was it. Everything went very smooth.

Ray was punctual, informative and thorough. As said by others he promptly completed his task and cleaned up afterwards. He also gave extra, unsolicited suggestions as to how to improve the condition of the fire box insert.

He arrived about 5 min early, came in, put down a cloth on the floor and cleaned the fireplace and chimney. He went up on the roof and inspected everything from that view as well. He was extremely pleasant and professional. He showed me how much "stuff" came out of the chimney and gave me a suggestion for cleaning the stone around the fireplace as well. I am having him come out and install a top damper sometime in the next two weeks.

I called many chimney sweeps off Angie's List. His was the only company to return my call right away. I spoke to his wife who set up the appointment and informed me of the price. She was very knowledgeable and very personable. After speaking to so many other contractors that was extremely refreshing. Ray arrived slightly before his appointment and even called me when he was on the way. Once he arrived at the home he called me again. I had him see one of my contractors because I was at work at the time. He completed the job and cleaned after. I am extremely pleased with the job and his company response to my request. I will most definitely call them again.

Overall the service was great. When I initially called to set up the appointment, I got an answering service, but they returned the call the same day. He showed up on time and I was totally satisfied with the work. He was friendly and personable.

A landscaper noticed problems with our chimney; the worst case was that the chimney was sinking and leaning away from the house. I called High Hat based on their proximity and good reviews on Angie's list. The next morning Ray came out and checked the chimney; the chimney was plumb so the worst case scenario was avoided. He did point out some bricks that were falling apart, a cracked flue tile and the need for a new crown wash and rain cap. He gave a reasonable estimate. The work was scheduled that afternoon. He was back 3 days later (on a day that worked best for me) and performed the work well, efficiently and on estimate.

Contacted High Hat and arranged for Raymond Gilreath to come out and give us an estimate. He showed up early the next day and gave us a very fair estimate of $200 for the Repair. My other estimate was from another company for $320.00 and based on Angie's List reports we went with High Hat. He called us back and set up an appointment for this afternoon. Showed up right after lunch time and was done in a little over an hour. I checked the work after and it was done very well, better then the original when the house was built. Very pleased with the job and would call them again for future work I may need of this type.

The work was done the day after I called for an appointment. There was not a spec of dirt on my carpet afterward, and the fireplace was spotless. Excellent work, I will call this company in the future for all chimney issues.

Excellent service! Ray was on time. He offered to go through another door so as not to mess up my floor. He informed me about things I did not know about my chimney. Such as the gas line that had been put in for future change-over to a gas chimney if desired. He also removed cotter pins that had been in the grate for shipping that were never removed. He set up drop cloths and used a system to keep dust from getting into the home. He seemed very knowledgeable about his business. I would recommend him to anyone.

Ray provided a price after inspecting my furnace chimney and looked at my fireplace chimney for free. Ray told me what my options were and told me that my fireplace chimney was fine - he didn't try to sell me anything I didn't need. He is also knowledgeable and shares his knowledge. The furnace chimney crown needed to be repaired or replaced, which I already knew, based on my own inspection. Ray provided a price for repair and a price for a new crown. I chose the new crown and Ray installed it a couple of days later. Ray was on time for both the inspection and the installation. Ray cleaned up everything after he was done. Three months after the job was completed, I was on the roof and inspected the crown. The workmanship was fair. There are hairline cracks in the mortar used to cover the filler he installed between the crown and the tile and the caulk does not have a professional appearance. I'd hire Ray again for chimney sweeping, but I'll use a bricklayer for repair.

They arrived on time. They brought drop cloths and were very careful not to spread or track soot on carpeting or furnishings. They had a powerful vacuum to collect dust. Very professional and courteous.

EXCELLENT job. They gave great service, and the fireplace looks like new. There was no mess in the great room, they even left the brick hearth looking great. They are very knowledgeable, answered all my questions, and gave me some very good tips about using my fireplace, what kind of wood is best etc. I highly recommend them.
