Cleaned and inspected fireplace and chimney

Went terrific as always. Ray was spot on time and explained everything he did to keep my fireplace healthy on the inside and the outside. His recommendation to get a cast iron fireback to protect the firebrick and make its life longer has worked well. I bought a vertical "grate wall of fire" to put in front of it, and the burning wood against the metal plate reflects for heat into the room. Ray and Marie run a good operation.

Absolutely great. Arrived on time. Protected the carpet in front of the fireplace. Cleaned our chimney and firebox. Left the house cleaner than when he arrived. Terrific job. Will definitely use again.

Ray was a pleasure to deal with. He called when he was on his way so that I could meet him at my house. The work was completed quickly with no mess left in my house. Ray gave me some great tips for using my fireplace, and he even fixed my screen door that wasn't closing properly! Excellent service and a very nice guy!

Ray is very knowledgable and no nonsense, quite old school. we are very glad we called High Hat. He is professional and offered advice that was extremely helpful. We bought a house that had four fireplaces, two natural and two that had been converted to gas; we were accustomed to wood burning from our old house but knew little about the new fireplaces and wanted to know what had to be done to be safe. He told us what needed to be done for each, depending on how we planned to use them, spending a couple of hours educating as well as cleaning. We would definitely recommend him to friends.

Ray is awesome, the kind of guy you wished lived next door, very genuine, sincere, kind and trustworthy. He provided the service and threw in little pieces of advice and insight along the way, like how airflow works, how to best keep our fireplace windows clean and how to manage natural occurring cracks of the walls. Very glad to have met him!

Ray sweeps our chimney every year. He is great. If repair work needs to be done, he tells me how to do it myself to save money. He lets me know what tools I'll need and where to get the products. I really appreciate him!

Showed up on time. Always neat. I've used some of the others around an Ray is the only one that I would hire. He's done repairs on my chimney at a much better price than everyone else. There is no BS.

Ray was on time for the appointment--probably early by a couple minutes at least. The other reviews were correct in how professional he is and how helpful. It was easy to arrange the appointment with his business partner. As I'd hoped, the best items-- besides learning I did not need to clean the chimney this fall--were the things Ray told me that I would not have known to ask him about. It has been too many years since I lived in a home with a fireplace, and Ray's advice was terrific. He took plenty of time to look around and answer my questions. I never felt rushed. This man is a thorough technician. While Ray no longer installs wood burning stoves, he advised me on what to look for and where the best places for it might be in the home. I plan to have Ray inspect my chimney on an annual basis and believe that the money was very well spent.

He came on January 6, 2014 after the 'polar vortex' dumped 12" on us. I expedted him to call and cancel, but he arrived within the time stated. He was very friendly and professional. No complaints about High Hat, Ray was a pleasure to work with. They were very accommodating when booking the appointment and offered several options for day and time. Ray arrived promptly, had a quick look up the chimney and confirmed it definitely needed to be swept so brought his equipment into the house. He answered several questions, provided recommendations where the hearth had to be updated to meet code requirements, and even offered a little advice that Santa's hat can sometimes get caught in the damper. We'll use High Hat again!

It was great. He came, he swept, he taught, he left. He offered to install chimney caps, but it was a bit out of the budget at the time. I highly recommend the gentlemen. Keep him working for as long as he's able to do it!
