They were prompt, professional and polite. The men did the sanding and 2 coats of oil based finish in the coupon + an additional buffing and coat of satin oil based finish on our 10 x 11 room for a total of $185. They were neat and clean removing all the dirt and dust. I asked a lot of questions about other services and repairs and they had several options available to address my concerns. We had a last minute problem (darn airlines!) that required rescheduling and they worked diligently to rearrange the appointment. I plan to refinish additional rooms and will definitely call this company for an estimate.

I got a quote, but did not ask to have the work performed yet because we need to coordinate a time when we won't walk on the area for a couple days. They were professional and came out right away, and gave me the quote right away. I will likely go with them when we are ready to do the work.

I purchased an Angie's List Big Deal for 100 sq. feet of hardwood floor sanding and refinishing for $99. I have a very small kitchen, and my floor had stains and looked dull and dingy. After purchasing the Big Deal, I called Chris at Functional Floors to set up an appointment. He was very friendly and courteous. I thought I would have a long wait for the job, but was able to get a 3/12/12 appointment. Chris called on Sunday afternoon, March 11, to confirm the appointment and to let me know what time he and another worker would arrive. They arrived that morning and went right to work. They were friendly, punctual, knowledgeable, and very professional. They were neat and taped plastic around the area to keep the dust from the rest of my house. They worked all day sanding and putting a finish on the floor. The other worker told me he would return the next day to put on the final finish. He completed the floor the next day. He was extremely clean and didn't leave any debris. They did a fantastic job. My floor is beautiful!! I am extremely pleased with the job they did. I highly recommend their work and hope to use them again.

The overall experience was really good. I was pleased with the end result. They cleaned up after themselves.

The workers were prompt and efficient. They left no mess and the floor was finished when they said it would be. My only complaint is that the men doing the work-sanding and applying stain & polyurethane-did not use any protective equipment. They did not wear masks at all. They will be sorry when they are older.

The men taped off the area with plastic sheeting and minimized the sanding dust from flying all over my house. The young men were very professional, polite, and punctual. Upon completion of the work on day 2, they cleaned up the area, asked me to inspect the work, and departed upon my satisfaction. I was very happy with the results.

The owner was very nice and prompt for the estimate he came out and gave us. His guys were also very prompt and polite while preforming the work. We were disappointed with the quality of the re-finish. There were visible waves in the floor where it had not been sanded flat; there was poly'd over dust in the corners of the closets; a floor board got cracked and it was not fixed properly; and the removable part of the floor mounted vents had large globs of poly on them and were stuck in the floor. We sent the owner an email with our concerns and he was very nice about the whole thing. He called within a half hour of the email and came out to the house that night to look things over. He offered to fix the places in the floor that were unhappy with and the globs of poly/dust free of charge. In the end we decided to repair the floor ourselves. The owner gave us a bucket of poly so the patches on the floor matched. Even though the owner was very nice and professional, next time we'd pay a little more to get the quality we expected.

The team arrived on time and sanded and stained the floor. If I remember correctly, they left for a few hours, to let the stain dry, and then returned to apply the first coat of varnish. They returned on the second and third days for the additional coats of varnish. They came at the time we had agreed on each day, and always called to let me know they were on their way. They worked very quickly, and I was surprised at how quiet the sanding process was. They were friendly and completely professional. They cleaned up after themselves, and the floor looks amazing. We used this Angie's deal to try them out, because we need to refinish all of the floors in the house. I am completely satisfied with their work, and the estimate they gave me for the additional work was completely reasonable. I will definitely call Functional Floors when it's time for the rest of the job. I do have one suggestion, however, that would help the customer, and avoid mistakes. The only stain color samples they could show were on a picture on their website, which was a little off-color and very hard to visualize, and they had no samples of the various varnish finishes (Satin, Semi-gloss, Gloss, etc.) It turned out that my color choice was OK, but I was pretty nervous about it until I actually saw it on the floor. It would have been pretty awkward if I had guessed wrong. So, it would make their service even better if they could somehow provide real samples of the colors and finishes on pieces of wood, so you could see them in the room where they will be applied.

Overall experience was very positive, from initial consultation and performance of contract. Always promptly returned calls.

I called and received an estimate over the phone, so I asked Chis to come to my home just to make sure of the final price. The first day Chris was at my home on time at 7:30am. I got home and the floors were still wet. I was told I need to stay away from home for 5 more hours. When came back the next day, he went over the floors and did the shoe molding. I had my living and dining rooms as well as my hallway completed.
