Absolutely great!!!!

The furnace started emitting a buzzing sound and the blower failed to engage. We left a message on Sunday (didn't call the all-hours support because we could go without A/C for a day) and they contacted us first thing Monday morning. They agreed to come out that afternoon (they could have come earlier but no one was around to meet them). The serviceman, Brian, arrived promptly. He was friendly and professional. He immediately diagnosed the seized blower motor and was able to quickly replace it. He then traced the cause to a freezing condenser coil (due to inadequate coolant). He recharged the system and advised us as to possible next steps (since there may be a slow leak). He also cheerfully answered my persistent questions and displayed a great deal of knowledge about his trade. The house is nice and cool again. When we replace the air conditioner next summer, we will definitely go through Erv Ehlers.

All went well. The technician was courteous and very efficient.

On two occasions, our central air conditioner has stopped working and showed evidence of a Freon leak, according to the repair man sent out through our home appliance plan. The first time, in the fall of 2005, the heating/AC company we had come out and follow up the appliance plan repair man diagnosed it as a bad evaporator coil and a $1000 fix. We called Erv Ehlers to get another opinion and after going through our entire system, said that diagnoses was wrong, that the unit was operating fine and their leak test showed no further problem. They recommended to watch it and wait. The second time, in late June of 2007, we again lost Freon, were told by the appliance plan repair man it would be a very expensive fix, only to have Erv Ehlers come out and diagnose it as leak that could easily be sealed. Now the air works fine.
