They told me that they had the part but it was expensive and would cost me $170 for the part and $300 for the repair. I wasn't happy with spending that much on a six-year old washer and chose not to repair the unit. They told me that if I came into the store they would give me credit for half the repair off the cost of a new washer. The company followed up with me by phone to see if I had any questions. They followed up by phone again just to remind me that they had new stuff if I wanted it. They were all very nice about it and there was no pressure or anything like that which I appreciated. We have had other problems with the washing machine and did not want to spend so much on it. They were on time and met their commitments. The guy who came out was quick and efficient and he had good customer service skills as far as communication went. He showed us things and answered any questions we had. I went to their store to check and buy something new but they didn't have much.
Description of Work: We had a broken washing machine that wasn't draining out the water and Bill & Rod's Appliance Inc came out and diagnosed that it had a bad drain pump.

Description of Work: My dishwasher would not pump out the water after washing. I called Bill and Rod's Appliance Repair....we set an appointment and the repairman was prompt and very professional. In a matter of two minutes he checked the connections and found the plug from a newly installed disposal was not taken out. He fixed the problem and only charged for the service call. I would definitely call them again if I neeed appliance reapair. Honest, fair, professional and right on time. Can't aske for better than that.

They were very reliable. We have an old stove and everybody said that they can?t find parts for that. However they found the parts for it. They were reasonable and they kept their word. They were very honest and it was a very good experience working with them. We have used them several times and we would use them again in future.

When I first called the appliance repair shop I thought for sure I'd be told to be ready to wait a few days. You know the routine with appliance repair places. But the person who answered the phone at Bill and Rod's was reassuringly pleasant. The serviceman was here within four hours of my initial call. He thoroughly inspected the old fridge, he had the necessary part readily available, and the job was completed quickly and efficiently. But it was the follow-up that astonished me. When I told them that the unit still wasn't working properly, John returned to my home three times, GRATIS, until he was satisfied the job was properly completed. I was quite amazed. I highly recommend Bill & Rod's when you need an appliance repaired.
Description of Work: My refrigerator was getting no colder than 64 degrees, while the freezer unit never got cold enough to actually freeze anything. The serviceman, John, identified the problem as a faulty defrost cycle and told me I'd need a new thermostat to correct the problem. He had the part in his truck, which astonished me. My refrigerator is at least thirty years old. John installed the part, then cautioned me that it'd take a few days for the defrosting to be complete. He assured me that by then the cold air would circulate properly and the fridge would be fine. After a few days the unit still wasn't operating properly. A couple of hours after calling the office John was back at the house. He took apart the freezer area and was dismayed to find that the ice at the bottom of the freezer was so thick I'd have to shut off the fridge to allow it to melt. I shut it off for a couple of days, at which time John made a third housecall to verify the freezer area was totally free of ice. A lot of ice remained, so he turned the unit to the defrost, left the freezer door open, and told me to check back with him in a couple of days. At that time he made a fourth housecall, disassembled the freezer area, and manually removed whatever ice remained (which was still a lot!). Since then the old General Electric has worked just fine.

I called and was asked for the model number and serial number on the washer. I believe this is a good sign because it means they are checking for known problems, recalls and parts availability even before they came. We set up an appointment for 2 days later (this wasn't an emergency--I can live without doing laundry). They called to confirm they were on their way 15 minutes before they arrived. John was able to diagnose and repair the washer in less than an hour. He showed us all the broken parts and explained what had happened. The price was right on target with the estimate. John was professional, personable and cleaned up the area completely.
Description of Work: Our 6 year old washing machine began to smoke during a cycle. John, the technician from Bill and Rod's, came, identified the problem as a seized pump that shredded a pulley and a belt, and fixed it in less than an hour.

My laundry was backing up and in this emergency situation they were able to get back to me in an hour and get a service technician to my house that day. All of their technicians have good personalities. They answer any questions that you have while you watch them work. They have been in business for 55 years and I would not consider using any other company to repair my appliances. I think management deals with the customer very well, and that seems to extend to the service team, as well.

We have used Bill and Rod's before and have been happy with the service, price and the people. The service man was very nice and did the repair quickly (including waiting while I vacuumed while the refrigerator was pulled away from the wall).
Description of Work: Refrigerator was leaking water. We confirmed it was not the water line, shut off water and arranged a service visit. Since this was not an emergency, they scheduled 2 days out. Service man called to confirm appointment and location and came when he said he would. He located and repaired leak and replaced water line as a precaution. He also tested the water cycle a couple of times to confirm that the leak was fixed.

The work went well and I am still happy with the results.
Description of Work: I moved into a house with a 1987 double wall oven. The timer did not work, but I was ok with that until the clock (also not working) started to sound like a blizzard in my kitchen. I just needed them to dismantle the clock by cutting the wire. I would have considered having them replace it if the analog clock were still in production. The gentleman who came by was on time and did the work quickly and neatly. No more blizzard sound. The most important part is that my double oven set still works after this correction.

Now my dishwasher is back washing dishes just fine. I suppose I owe Bill & Rod a thank you for forcing me to do it myself, but I would have been perfectly content to pay them if they had showed any interest in doing the job.
Description of Work: The spray arm on my KitchenAid dishwasher broke. I wanted it replaced. Bill & Rod's, which has store front about 10 miles from me, told me to come in because they'd have to order the part and they didn't want to send a repair person just to see what part was necessary. I was OK with that even though it was inconvenient. I went in and was helped by a woman who did her best, but she ordered the wrong part. Nobody was very helpful or very intent on getting my dishwasher fixed and I was frustrated. Ultimately, I looked the model up on the Internet. Found a website that sold the parts. Ordered the right one for a total of $11, including delivery. It arrived two days later. I downloaded the schematic and replaced the part. The hardest part was getting the shelf back in -- but that wasn't too hard.

They did an excellent job. He was very helpful and informative. I had read about front loading washing machines smelling musty. He gave me instructions on how to avoid that, and how much detergent to use. I asked him about the warranty, which will expire in a few months, and he gave us some information on the Maytag dependability warranty. The technician, Matt Huhta, was very nice and professional.

Upon scheduling a date for someone to come out to look at the washing machine, I was instructed to call that morning for a 4-hour window of when the tech would arrive. The tech ended up arriving over an hour late, past the 4-hour window. At any rate, after turning on the machine he immediately knew what the problem was, called the office to see how much it would cost to repair (some parts were still under warranty). It only took about 10 minutes and cost $50 with a $10 coupon. Once the parts came in, the office called me and I scheduled a date to have it fixed about 3 days later. The tech arrived within his time-frame, fixed it in about an hour, and cleaned up. He told me I owed $190. However, the first tech had written down I would owe the total of $190 minus the first service charge of $50. I showed him my original receipt and he said OK.

The serviceman came in. I told him what I thought the problem was; a broken switch. He checked it and replaced it. The whole job took about ten minutes. I was billed $59 after $10 Angie's List discount for the service call, $30 for the part, $50 for labor. The job was well done, but the charge seems excessive. When I called about the bill, I was told that the service call covers travel and diagnosis and that the average repair is about $60. There was no estimate. I assumed that the job would be simple, as it was.

The technician who came out was prompt and efficient. He was also very informative about the part and the age of the machine. Because it is a recently purchased home we had no idea as to the age of the dishwasher that needed repair.
Description of Work: The repair ended up not being performed because the replacement part was more expensive than the appliance (because of it's age) was worth.
