Brad was extremely knowledgeable, professional and thorough with the repair to both our washing machine and dryer. He took time to explain the repairs that were necessary. In addition, he took time to explain how to maximize the efficiency of both machines. He was extremely thorough.

The young man who came to do the repair on our dryer was pleasant, careful, invested and efficient. He explained what he was doing and what needed to be repaired. He discovered that the part needed to be ordered. When the part came in, he returned and again was invested and efficient and pleasant. The scheduler on the phone was supportive and understanding when making both of the appointments. Bill and Rod's Appliance have provided service on many of our appliances for many years and we have never been disappointed. Thank you so much!!!

Repair was easy to schedule. Service tech showed up within the promised time window. Replacement part was on the truck and repair was performed efficiently. On the negative side, the service tech reeked heavily of cigarette smoke. My home is non-smoking and I am very sensitive to this smell. It took 24+ hours for the smell to dissipate after the technician left. I would consider using this firm's services again but only if a non-smoking repair person was available.

Dan was professional. The problem was that they would not honor their coupon for $30 off the part. Totally bogus as they expect the customer to physically enter the store to order the part versus on the phone. And when she called me back to tell me the part was $130, this little fact was left out; I would have gladly gone to the store. 😕

Hello [Member Name Removed], Sorry for the confusion on this. As you spoke with one of our representatives we have written you a refund for the $30. It is never our intention to mislead customers or misrepresent ourselves. We also applied a $10 senior discount to your service call prior at your request with no questions asked. Again our goal is to serve our customers and community with honesty and integrity. We will be looking at the coupons and making sure they are clear for the future. Thank you for helping us make ourselves better

Bill and Rod's as a repair place through LG is awful. They do not call you to set up an appointment, you have to call them. They will not schedule an appointment on that phone call either even though the paperwork is already in their hands. They will give you a time to call back and if they decide they don't have time they won't call. It is awful customer service and communication. Even if they decide that they cannot service an appliance for whatever reason, they need to follow through with what they say, it's common courtsey.

Hey [Member Name Removed], First I am sorry to hear about the experience you had with our call center. I just talked to my dispatcher about this situation. Based on our availability we were not able to provide service quick enough for what LG wants us to provide. We sent the call back to LG for them to dispatch to another servicer and they were to contact you as a result. In lieu of this I have talked to my dispatcher and asked that he contact customers to let them know it has been sent back to LG for another servicer. It seems we have a communication problem between LG, ourselves, and our mutual customers. Again I apologize for the trouble this has caused, however, I am glad to see where we had a gap that we could fix and become better. I know this will not fully change your mind, but I hope it will help you reconsider this initial review without previous use of our services.

Not well. Scheduled the appointment and provided the model # so they could bring the parts that most likely would fix my concern (not draining). scheduler said the tech would have the parts....he didn't. He was pleasant but indicated he used "that" part 2 days earlier and thats why he didn't have one. All this after I specifically requested the pump (the part needed) be with the technician. The tech said the closest part is in Grand Rapids and can be here in 2 days. He said they would order the part and call me when the part arrived. Off he went. That was 9 days ago and I haven't heard from them! After the tech left I called the office/scheduler to complain about their "process" of "having the part in the van", I don't think they wanted to hear me complain. This was very disappointing because I had used them several years ago and had a good experience.

Horrible, basically got ripped off. Came in the house for $70 which I understand, standard to come out. Spent 7 minutes taking a piece of glass off my drain compartment. That was it, did it by hand no tools and proceeded to charge me another $70 as if he had spent an hour. total $140 for 7 minutes of no-effort high way robbery. I would have understood if he would have said, I have to charge you at least 1/4 of an hour, as we don't do 7 minutes, fine that would have been 70 diveded into 4 = $17,50 plus the $70 to show up= $87.50 that would have been fair, but he decided to rip me off instead. When I called the next day to his office they said the cheapest repair was $70. If that is the case, why don't they warn you when you call that you are in for $149 period, and it goes up from there. Because they are crooks, that's why. And as such I will never call them nor refer them again. Hope someone reads and avoids these scammers.

this is an addendum to my previous post--all of which is still true, but I just received a written apology from a manager of Bill and Rods and a check for $10. Because of this I have upcoded my ratings. Having management acknowledge the problem and apologize for the issues goes far in my book. Still not sure if I'd use their services again, but this gesture does show me that someone over there is a professional and cares about customer satisfaction.

Ok, I know my garbage disposal probably needed to be replaced, and I also had the guy look at my washing machine that was shaking. And I also know service calls aren't cheap, that's not the issue. The problem first started when I call for appt.and they couldn't give me a definite one on the day I first ask for so I had to cancel. I rescheduled and specifically asked for an afternoon appt, and then called a second time with make and model of washing machine and again repeated that I needed an afternoon appt--the the guy said that should be no problem. Well, on the morning of the appt.they called in the morning (as they said they would) and told me the guy would be out between 9 am and 12--I don't know where they are from (Australia maybe?), but here in Michigan 9 am is not and never has been considered "afternoon". I explained that to person on the phone they just restated that that was the schedule. I said ok, but I was in Ann Arbor at the moment and it would take me at least 30 mins. to drive home from there. She offered to have repair guy call me 30 mins.before he was to arrive. So, you guessed it, he called at almost exactly 9 am (if I was waiting at home for him he probably wouldn't have gotten there until 12--lol). I then booked it from AA and got there within 30 mins and he was waiting there (he said he just got there). Hi looked at disposal for about 5 mins and said because it was leaking at reset button it couldn't be fixed and had to be replaced. He then went downstairs and luckily all the washing machine needed was to have the legs adjusted--which took another 10 mins or so. He gave me the bill and I wrote a check for $70 apprx. and he said he'd order the disposal and I asked how much it would be and he said around $100 --I priced disposals and the ones I looked at were around $80. To be fair, I did tell him to order it but after he left I was thinking--he was at my house for 15 mins for freakin sake. He could have gone to Home Depot or Lowes or Menards and gotten a disposal (it's not like they are custom built machines for heaven's sake) come back, installed it and still have only taken maybe 1.5 hrs. So, I decided to order one from Amazon (was only $75) and have a friend install it. The topper is I got a call this morning from Bill and Rods saying part was in--I told them I didn't need it as I order on myself and hung up. Then I got a call back saying they would have to charge me $20 for ordering the part that I wasn't going to use. I didn't argue, I just told then "fine, but I would never every use their service again" $20 really? Again, it's not like I ordered a custom made purple with green stripe sofa that no one else in their right mind would want and then told them "nevermind". I'm sure someone in the tri-county area will need a garbage disposal of that make sometime in the next month or so. So, I'd advise everyone to avoid this company inless you enjoy getting fleeced.

Hey [Member Name Removed], My Name is Joe Legato and I am the General Manager at Bill & Rod's Appliance Inc. I just read this review and subsequently found that we have profoundly mismanaged this whole service call from start to finish. I apologize for all of the inconvenience and the lack of service that we provided with this service call. Typically we do carry the garbage disposals on our trucks in case of these instances. Again I apologize. The notes that were made about the time requirements were not followed and we will have discussions with our technicians and office staff of the importance of meeting those needs. With this being said I will be refunding the service fees that were charged. I know that this is a small issue in the greater scheme of issues that happened here. Again I apologize and ask that if you have need in the future for service to give us another chance.

The store provided replacement dryer parts. When it needed further service, the dryer was repaired at the store in one day. The dishwasher was also repaired in the same amount of time. I was not charged for the dryer parts, that were not needed. I received very fair and punctual service.

I was impressed with the person who answered the phone- he had me scheduled for Saturday but said he would keep my number with him and call if there were any cancellations for Friday. We were very impressed with the professionalism and the high level of knowledge shown by Adam. We found it very helpful when he took the time to thoroughly explain what went wrong with the dryer. He was familiar with the problem and knew how to fix it.
Description of Work: Our clothes dryer was emitting the smell of natural gas whenever it was running. The technician, Adam, analyzed the problem and determined it was caused by a dried out gasket in the dryer's internal mechanism. He is going to order the replacement part to be installed asap.

After looking at the stove he concluded it needed a new ignitor. After asking the year of the stove and if it was worth spending the money, he was very honest with me and suggested I put the money towards a new stove. The stove is about 15 years old and the ignitor was about half the price of what a new stove would cost. He did not try and push me to spend more money to try and repair an already old stove that may not last too much longer anyway. As far as the washer, I asked if he could put a longer hose on it where the water drains out since it was shooting water all around my utility sink and washing machine. He was able to find something in his van that could be used as an extension and at no charge.

My Dryer would not turn on and I had replaced the control board and the motor. I had another repair service center come out and they could not figure out why it would not start after I replaced the Control board and Motor. The service technician from Bill and Rod's (Ron Mohlman) came out and within an hour he determined the NEW motor was not wired in the same way as the old motor. He rewired it and it was fixed. A friend of mine referred me to Bill and Rods Appliance repair and I highly recommend them. They were scheduled within 3 days and came out on time as promised. Great company.

AMAZING service level. If every community in America had businesses that operated like this the world would be a much better place. First my gas dryer stopped working. So I hopped on Angie's list and found these guys. Not having alot of time (and having alot of laundry stacked up) I was pretty desperate. Well they promptly scheduled an appointment (at a fair rate, I might add) and that was that. However, I got to thinking could I get this repair done myself (engineer by training). I called them back and they talked me through it. After letting me know about all the safety precautions and spending considerable time diagnosing my problem, they told me what part to try and confirmed they had it in stock. Though I might have saved a few $ by ordering this online this would have taken and clearly been horrible to do (given the exceptional I received). I hopped in my car, headed to Bill and Rods, grabbed the part, headed home and gave it a try. Repair complete! Clothes dried! Amazing! The story doesn't end there, however. The very next load...my washing machine stopped working. (I am NOT making this up.) Emboldened by my dryer attempt. I decided to see if I could do it again. Sure enough...I was able to troubleshoot and repair using a part again bought from these guys which also was in stock. These guys could have charged me the service calls. They could have just told me to blow off when I wanted to give it a try myself. The complete opposite: they helped me all the way, therby owning my business and renewing my faith in honest, local companies. Kudos Bill and Rod's. Kudos!! FANTASTIC! A+

That was Bill & Rod's. They did a good job. They guy came out and diagnosed the problem. They came back 2 days later with the parts and fixed it. He gave me some good suggestions because this was a Kenmore washer. He gave me some good suggestions which I used. It was a front load washer which vibrated and would walk all over the room in a spinning cycle. He gave me some good suggestions and I followed his suggestions and it has made all the difference in the world now. They were definitely an 'A'. They were pretty prompt and everything went quite well. It is a relatively new machine. They are great but you need good support from underneath. We haven't had any issues since. The ideas and recommendations he gave me really made a big difference. I don't think that we are going to need to have him back for quite a while. They were right on time. They guy knew what he was doing and he was very nice. I had absolutely no problems with it. He went above and beyond and gave me some recommendations to help with the problem. We literally nailed a 2/4 next to the washing machine so that it doesn't vibrate. We got the washing machine wedged between the drier and the wall. He recommended I put a piece of plywood underneath the washer and dryer which I did and that has made a big difference too. He understood the problem and said here is what I need to do right now and here is what you can do to prevent it from happening again and I really appreciated that.

I have appliance insurance through consumers energy and I had ignition problems with my viking gas cooktop otherwise the cooktop was working fine. I have scheduled repair of the ignition problem through consumers energy and Bill & Rod were sent to fix the problem. The service personnel came and inspected the cooktop and said that they have to order parts and comeback again to fix the problem. They have come thrice and each time they said they need more parts. My wife was there for the first 2 calls and I was there for the third call. The technician on the third call was very courteous and broke some of the parts while trying to remove them, he said he has to order more parts and also contact consumers energy for their approval and will contact us in 24hrs. This happened on tuesday. There was no response from them until thursday and I called consumers energy. I was on phone with consumers energy for 50 min and during that period they contacted bill & rods and have conveyed to me that they cannot find the parts and cannot fix the problem. As per consumers energy they are not responsible for the broken parts and they dont have any thing to offer. After the last service call the parts for 3 of the burners were broken and they are not usable. My concern with bill & rods is scheduling. I call them for scheduling a service and they will not give a time frame, I will be knowing the time only on the day of service. I did request them to give me an am or pm time so that I can plan my day accordingly they refused to do so. Whoever the technician who has come for service was very courteous but did not have any specialized tools to remove parts. I felt that my first mistake is to get appliance insurance through consumers energy and second one is to wait for some inexperienced technician to work on the cooktop and break parts and no one is claiming responsibility. I want to bring this to angie's list so that no other customer is treated the way I am treated.

Response from Bill & Rod's Appliance Inc
I am sorry to hear about this experience. Scheduling is always a very tough call to make. We are working on systems to make scheduling more convenient. The problem comes when we are trying to route the most efficient way possible in order to maximize fuel economy. Often times we do not have a definite number of service calls till the morning of. After reviewing your service call several things stood out to me. The Viking Range that was being worked on was seized very tightly together. My technician told me that he informed you that the components underneath would have to be replaced as well in order for it to come apart to be fixed. Unfortunately those components that are needed are no longer being produced. That is outside of our control. We do not produce those parts and feel that your judgment on us is unfairly placed. Also it seems that your other major problem is with your warranty company and is something that should be addressed by them. We have worked Consumers Energy for over 15 years and have always prided ourselves on the work we have provided and have been one of their preferred servicers. Again I am sorry that the situation came to an end in the way that it did. I also feel that this is an unjust rating for our business.
