+ -1 moreWe had been looking at local nurseries for a red maple tree and found that were few red maples to choose from. Then I read about the Elling Tree Farm and decided to go there. The experience at the farm was a novelty. As I turned into his driveway I noted that the long drive was lined by maple trees on each side with a nicely mowed lawn around them. I felt like I was driving into a park. Brad took us out on golf carts which made it quick and easy to get to the maple trees that we were interested in. There were 25 Red Point maples to choose from. All 25 of his Red Points were nicer than anything we saw at the nurseries where we had been looking. Brad showed us how to use the caliper and the wide tape measure (in our cart) to determine the caliper (diameter) of the tree and the height of the tree. He gave us time (with no sales pressure) to pick out the tree we wanted. We found the perfect specimen for our yard. Brad did an excellent job planting the tree in our yard 6 days later. He is very knowledgeable and very easy to work with. We will definitely go to this tree farm for any future trees.
Description of Work: Brad Elling showed us around his tree farm on a Saturday and delivered and planted the Red Point red maple tree in our yard the following Friday.

He delivered and planted the trees in a very timely manner. This is the second time we have used Brad Elling Tree Farm. We are very happy with his work and would highly recommend him..

+ -1 moreWe found Elling Tree Service by 'accidental observation'. That is to say, we noticed a property that was under landscape renovation in our neighborhood and admiring the results, we inquired with the property owner 'who' had done the work-he whole heartedly recommended and provided the contact information for Elling Tree Service. I contacted Ellings and requested a quote for the work needed on my property. A violent summer storm, destroyed the 6' wooden privacy fence along the property line, not only taking down most of the fence, which was still lying strewn along the 300' fence line. It was a mess. Brad Elling responded promptly with his quote, to provide, deliver and install 12 - 6' arborvitae shrubs, and also to clear away the fence. I could not be more pleased with the end result-the eyesore fence is gone, the shrubs are healthy and look beautiful and Ellings attention to finish detail of the adjacent perennial beds (300ft.!) and surrounding area is absolutely impressive. Last but not least, work completed at a cost that was very reasonable. Five Star Service
Description of Work: Provided 12 healthy and beautiful 6' arborvitae shrubs, placed them appropriately and planted them carefully and correctly. Removed and disposed over 300' of damaged wooden privacy fence . Mr. Elling and his crew were very professional and highly efficient in every respect. Five Star Service!

+ -1 moreEllings has a tremendous selection of trees of apparent good health. Selecting our trees was a very good experience with very gracious owners. We were so impresses that we did not do comparative shopping. Trees were delivered promptly and the planting done efficiently. Do expect some damage to the land do to the size of the equipment required for planting. I got some pretty big trees and the lawn damage was reasonable. If yard damage is a concern, I would discuss it with Brad. I never asked, but, I am pleased with the care taken during the planting process

He helped us pick out the type and size of tree that would best achieve out goal. He delivered and planted the trees as promised. He did a very professional job of planting the trees.

We loved dealing with him from the farm to planting our new trees at our home. We highly recommend purchasing trees from Brad. And Brad's tree farm is well kept up and his very good healthy trees.

Mr. Elling arrived with two big trucks and a large tree spade to plant our trees with two young helpers. He did a lot of the work himself while also instructing his workers in a very calm and helpful manner. Any more trees we buy will come from his tree farm. Doing business with Elling Tree Farm was a very good experience.

Description of Work: They removed a tree that had fallen on my polebarn. And cut down a few other dead trees that would have come down soon. They did every thing that we had agreed upon and did it in a safe and orderly way as to not damage any other buildings or take down any wires.

+ -1 moreThis was a very pleasant over-all experience. While I'd like to think that I know something about trees, it was nice to have the services of a real expert such as Brad. In addition to selecting the correct tree, he made the installation super easy. If you are looking for a large tree, I would encourage you to call Brad and schedule a visit at his farm to see his stock and consult with him as to the best tree for you. But, even if you only are interested in a smaller tree, it would be worth it to see Brad as his stock is all "home grown" here in southeast Michigan so has a good chance to be acclimated to our climate here. I can't recommend Brad's services enough.
Description of Work: After living in our home for 30 years, I finally got around to looking into having a shade tree installed on a side of the house that has needed some shade from the hot, summer morning sun for years. In looking on the internet, I found Brad Elling who is the owner operator of Elling Tree Farm in Lapeer, Michigan. I made an appointment to drive to the Lapeer area and visit Brad with the hope of selecting a large shade tree. I figured that, after living in this house all of these years, I'd better get a LARGE tree as I don't have that much time left for the tree to "grow in" to provide the shade I envision. I arrived at Brad's very large tree farm and was amazed at the selection of all types of tree that he had available. He has all sizes and varieties that one can imagine. The farm is immaculate and super well organized. Plus, Brad is a real expert on what will work and what won't work in the customer's proposed location. We drove around the farm on Brad's golf cart and, with his professional assistance, I picked out an Autumn Blaze Maple which looks perfect. What is amazing is that it was at least 30 feet tall. It is a BIG tree. In November, Brad called ahead and arrived the next day with his large tree spade hauling my maple tree. He went to work and dug the proper hole and inserted the tree. Job done....no muss, no fuss. I'm now waiting for the next spring to arrive and see the tree in full bloom.
