When something came up they were handled it quickly and professionally. Communication was good and they were receptive to last minute changes.

 + 0 moreEverything was so smooth and professional throughout the whole process. Jeff, the siding installer, was a perfectionist and made my 1923 American Foursquare house beautiful. He is very experienced and worked very hard everyday getting the job done perfectly. I couldn't express in words how much I love how my house looks now, I love it! Jeff is fantastic! After Jeff was done with the siding, the guys came out to install the gutters and downspouts (Sorry guys, I don't remember your names). The two installers for the gutters were great and finished the job in 3 hours. Steve was our sales rep and informed us that he has been with Northern for a very long time. He knew the company and the products very well and was completely professional. It was a pleasure to do business with Northern. I am extremely happy!

 + 0 moreI initially called them on July 1st, got their email address, and sent them our blueprints. I called again on July 12th to see when they thought I could get a bid. I spoke with Norm, who tried to sell me vinyl windows, warned me their prices are generally high because they warrant the labor, and that I would get a quote early next week. I called again on July 19th to ask about the status of the bid and was told "early next week" again. It's now August 7th and I've heard nothing since. If you don't want to bid, SAY SO. Thanks so much for wasting my time! UPDATE: Norm has contacted me several times to apologize for the delay and get me a bid. His price was a touch higher than the competitors but still very close. He's really worked hard to change my mind about the company.

 + 8 moreOn 1/17/2013 Northern's crew started with installing the e-gress window, after that the framing crew started along with the framing crew the HVAC and drywall crews all worked together. They got the basement ready to mud the drywall after they finished the mud job they got the drywall ready to paint. The painter did a great job, after that the carpet was installed,the basement was cleaned completely and we were finished on 2/27/2013. Northern said it would take 6 weeks and that is what it took. Northern always let me know when a crew was coming or if they would be late. All the crews cleaned up every night, even the drywall crew did a great job keeping the dust down. Steve and Kris always called me back if I had any questions. I do not see how the job could have went any better.
Description of Work: Finish basement, this basement had only 4 lights and 3 electrical outlets. It was completely empty except for standard mechanical items. Northern did the egress window, framing, heating, electrical, drywall, painting, and carpeting.

 + 3 moreLarry Savalli was excellent, helpful and patient with all my questions. I did get bids from many other contractors, and several of them were also good and professional. Larry and his company just stood out for me. He came out several times to help me figure out exactly what we were going to do. He helped me get the contract to include everything to make me feel comfortable. Norm, who was one of the owners, came out once or twice and was great as well. Larry was on vacation one time and Norm filled in. All the workers were professional and very helpful when or if I had questions. The job looks good.I would highly recommend Larry Savalli at NHI for anyone's home improvement needs.
Description of Work: They took care of a total tear down of my roof and new roof. They did some porch ceiling work, fascia and soffits, gutters and downspouts. They also gave me an estimate on siding.

 + -1 moreI was about to get my house repainted, and happened to notice that there were a few holes on the side of my dormers. Didn't want to get the house repainted without getting them repaired as well, so I found Northern Home Improvement on Angie's list and indicated I needed work done ASAP, because the painters were scheduled to be out in only a couple of weeks. They came right out, gave me an estimate, indicated they wanted to replace a couple of other boards which were starting to go but not yet rotted through, and scheduled me in before the paint job. Work was done within ten days, although I called them in the middle of summer, which is undoubteldy their busiest time. I very much appreciate their willingness & ability to fit me in, it saved me from having to reschedule the paint job, and my house looks great!

 + 8 moreWe are very pleased with Northern Home Improvement's work. At no charge they came to our home to understand what our needs were and calculate a price estimate for the work. They offered good solutions for our remodeling problem areas. Northern completed the work as agreed in the contract. Also, the work was completed by the deadline agreed to and within budget. The men that worked on the porch were very professional and skilled. The only problem area was once they did not show up for work as expected and failed to notify us of this change. Once they understood that we needed to be notified of work schedule changes it never happen again. We plan to use Northern Home Improvements for our other remodeling needs in the future which is the highest compliment you can give a company.
Description of Work: A complete remodeling of a three season porch. The porch was gutted. The walls and ceiling were drywalled. New trim around the windows. Everything painted. The floor was tiled. Three doors were replaced. A new wooden walk way from the porch to the garage was built.

I felt very comfortable with them. I have the unfortunate thing, I live in the historic district where you have to do specific products and it is costly.

He explained the difference from taking the siding all the way up or having a freezer board. Of having that a different color and how much that would cost. He was very thorough and the quote had specifics of what costs were there and what the add-ons and subtractions were. He was just wonderful.

 + -1 moreThey seemed to be fine with the way they did their estimate and it wasn’t a super hard sale, but it was well done. They are still actually doing some work for the people who live across the street from me, so one of their people from there came, looked around and measured some stuff and did the estimate. They were a little bit fake to me and though they did not exactly say that I would need to replace my roof, they did not sell their work either, whereas the other company who came out to give me another estimate told me that my roof could be used for another two to three years.

 + -1 moreNorthern had their hands full with the roof on my 1897 office building but they did a very good job. The building was purchased three years ago and started developing some serious leaks last Fall. It was in need of a major upgrade. Ken Lycos provided the quote. He's a nice guy who took the time to point out all of the work that needed to be performed because of the age and condition of the roof. Compared to the other people who provided quotes, Ken seemed to be the most knowledgeable and sincere. Not high pressure at all, just thorough and responsive. The roofing crew showed up on time and worked steadily for two weeks to tear off four layers of shingles, install plywood decking (for this first time on this building) and attach the new shingles. With something like 12 peaks and valleys on a very old roof, the crew described this as the most complex project they'd ever worked on. But they kept everything as clean as possible during the work day and did a good job of cleaning everything up at night. A different crew installed the new gutters and they improved the design considerably to avoid problem areas. I'd call Northern again for any projects that I have at work or home.

Not only was did NHI present one of the most reasonable offers by one of the nicest salesmen I've ever had the privilege to work with (Larry), they did what was promised ON TIME and WITHIN BUDGET. NHI seems to adhere to terrific customer service standards. Once again, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THEM!
Description of Work: First of all, I apologize for 1)not writing this review sooner and 2)only estimating the amount spent (because of Apology Number One). Larry, the representative from Northern Home Improvement (NHI) did a fantastic job of explaining, in detail, what would take place on top of my roof and I was impressed by how quickly the NHI Team followed through. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND NHI if you are in the market for a new roof! And Brad, Brad, Justin, and Johnny did FINE WORK! Thank you, guys! The work started on Friday, July 8, early in the morning until late in the afternoon (or was it early evening?). I believe that on the first day, the entire back of my house was completed and part of the garage. This included tearing off the old roof (which consisted of a double layer in some parts), laying down a couple of sheets of new plywood which were proven to be damaged, and finally, the reroof. (The shingles I selected, I must say, (Sand something-or-another) look smashing on my house!) The Team was back again early Monday morning, but alas, it stormed. Yet they did what they could in the two short hours they had to work with (during which time they again replaced another sheet of old damaged plywood, and tarping the unfinished job). They even returned when the storm seemed to aleviate, but the storm returned in even greater force, forcing my Team to have to wait 'til Tuesday to finish the job. Which they did. Wonderfully. It has now been four months that my new roof has been on my house and it looks wonderful and is, so far, holding up. A previous coworker who lives down the street came by to inquire about the new roof, in need of one himself. I recommended NHI. Hopefully, Dave will follow through with them.

 + -1 moreI'd already scheduled another company for painting when I noticed some holes in the wood siding on a second flor dormer. Northern Home Improvements was out promptly (on a Saturday morning no less), gave me an on-the-spot estimate, and fit me in to their schedule even though it was their peak season. They also noticed some other boards which were starting to buckle/rot and replaced those as well. They finished up in plenty of time for the painters. It was completely hassle-free contracting, they did a good job, and they did it quickly.
