The measuring and estimating was done very professionally. The door was very high quality. There was a little confusion on their part whether or not the door had to be special or standard and required multiple people visiting, which slowed things down about 2 weeks, but they got it sorted out and was not a problem, just took a little longer. Installation was excellent, professional. We are very happy with the job and the door especially is very nice. We will definitely be contacting them to look at future projects.

Came as scheduled, worked hard, completed work within expected time frame, and clean up was complete.

Called them on 11/02/2015 asked to have someone come out and look at some Soffit and Facia replacement. Recieved call back on 11/04/2015. Explained what was needed and they said they would be out to look at job. Also said let the neighbors know that if they see a couple guys looking around what was up ! It is now 11/17/2015. No show and no call from them. Shame was going to consider them on our kitchen remodel in spring!!

It went very well. Northern is a great choice.

The doors seem to be of good quality, and both the saleperson and the installer were competent, professional, and easy to work with. We did have to wait two months for the doors to arrive from the factory, which seems a long time; however, the salesperson was honest about telling us that upfront and maybe that is standard procedure for all companies. Overall, I think they did a fine job and would use them again and recommend them to others.

There were a couple of things discussed with the contact person that did not get conveyed to the crew. The crew were superb and did excellent work.

The crew was very professional and friendly. They did an excellent of building the porch, steps and railings. The job was finished when I expected and the quality of work was exceptional. The scope of the job was changed slightly (porch was extended by about 2 feet) but the job was still completed on time. The crew did a very good clean-up when they were done. The downspout and gutter shield was also done in an excellent manner. I will definitely use Northern again.

We are very pleased with the quality of the work, as well as the quality of the products. The installation didn't happen as soon as we had hoped; the outside temperatures were too cold to guarantee the seals on the new windows and door. I appreciated the fact that Northern didn't push ahead and install them anyway - it was well worth the wait. I will definitely use Northern Home Improvement the next time we need work done on our home - they were fabulous.

I saw them at the Home and Garden Show at MSU and asked for a price on 6-8 windows. An appointment was made for 10:00am on March 26, 2015. I waited until 10:45 and called the office. I told the lady I had to leave and to tell the salesman that I would not be here. About 5 minutes later I got a call from a gentlemen that was the VP, he left me a message to please call him. I called a few minutes later on my way out the door and asked for him. I was sent to the salesman instead. When I explained to him that I needed to speak to the VP, he said that it was his fault and he would like to remedy the problem but would not allow me to speak with the VP. I told him that I had decided not to use Northern and please don't contact me again. I never did get to speak to the "Boss".

The salesman and his trainee who came were very nice and helpful. They made a woman alone feel comfortable working with them. The workmen came on time did their job and cleaned up the mess. It was a positive experience.

The window unit is attractive. I picked Northern because of their choice of product. I'm still waiting for a massive rain storm! Nothing like torrential water to test a basement window! They warned me the install date might shift if the weather was bad, and it did shift, and shifted a little more than they first said. But the weather was torrentially bad the week before so I can't blame them. I'm going to give them an "A" overall. If I have problems in the future I will see if I can update this review. FYI - the guys who came on site were very nice.

I need to stay on top of them because they also use sub contractors. It is the nature of subcontractors to do what they always do and it doesn't matter what the homeowner says. I had them do some rain gutter work, and they used a contractor that they said was the best in the area. It didn’t look that way to me. I had them come back, and I had him come back. I’m still not happy. The next time I’ll talk with Northern, I’ll say don’t use this guy and find somebody else. I talked to a guy there named Larry. I told him that I was looking for somebody that could be my outside go to person. I told him I have high standards and I expect response from them. We talked about that and I said that otherwise I would smear them everywhere online. We sort of worked out our relationship, and they are still my go to but I stay on top of them. They put in some windows on the second floor, and they did an extremely good job with that. I had rebuilt one of the rooms on the second floor and put in on my own trimming and all the internal and external framing. You couldn’t even tell all the windows have been touched. They didn’t mess up anything. They were very thorough. The same group of subcontractors came back to put a double entry door into the garage. Usually I hang around when the contractors are working. The guy asked me before they put the door in. I said that it’s not an inward opening door. They began to load all their stuff from their truck and packing it back up and put the frame in. They went back to their office. The office called and reordered. They eventually got it in. They did have a glitch in there. What I like about Larry, who’s my contact guy there, came out and said that they always have to order twice from suppliers. The first is to get it wrong and second is to get it right. It was my mistake because I did not specify the style of the door. It cost them more to come out twice but they did not change the estimate at all. If I go directly to a subcontractor, it’s going to be cheaper automatically because there’s no cut for the middleman. On the other hand, if I go to Northern and something screwed up much more likely they will have it corrected and take care of it than if I’m doing it with the subcontractors. It’s all worth a little bit of extra money because you have more fallback if something goes wrong and some things can always go wrong.

Northern responded quickly (on the weekend) to replace our furnace that went out last winter. They were great. Very professional and friendly. Got the work done quickly and thoroughly. Left the space clean after they were done.

After a few days with no response after the estimate request, the company did send an estimator a week later. The estimator arrived late for the appointment. He measured the window and the area where to be opened for the outside door. He spent a lot of time talking with me and spelling out that they were bonded, that they were a good company, showing me door and window catalogs and explaining the technological advances of the doors and windows they use. He also joked and was very chummy. He assured me that he would put an attractive bid for me. After a week he called to ask if we had chosen the door and the window in order to include it in the written estimate. Up to there, it seemed that he was doing a great, thorough job, but when we received the estimate the next day, it was only a total cost with no detail. There was no detail on the cost of the door vs. the cost of the window, nor on the specific cost of labor for each job. I wrote him an email and asked him expressly to break it down for me and clarify. He wrote me back and told me the cost of the window replacement and the door cost (almost 2,900) without specifying the cost of the materials and the cost of the work. According to the email, he was "giving me a break" on the window part of the job. When I received a bid by a similar company that was a third lower for the same work and for comparable materials, I let him know that the bid was not detailed enough and that his estimate was more than $1000 than another bid. After the estimate experience, I would be reluctant to contact this company regarding any other job.

We called this company and left message asking to call me back and never received a call back.

That was great. They were very good. They haven't done any work for me yet. I haven't made up my mind yet. They were on time and they were very professional. I like them very much. I would use them again.

Gave us good advice with suggested replacement windows. Perfectly matched outside color of windows to siding on house. I wanted to keep interior custom shades that were in place and that was possible with the replacement windows. They painted interior of windows to match finish in living room. Job was done carefully and efficiently; they cleaned up after their work. We are very pleased with the final result.

They are excellent, just top of the line. I would like to give them all "A's" across the board.

Once work was started temparary support posts were put up and the old porch removed. They had to remove the old support footings because the thickness wasn't up to code. Was happy with the finish porch and supports. The only problem I had with the company was communication. Was told work would start about September 1. Called late August and was told they couldn't start until after the 15th. Called that week and was told it would be September 30. They didn't call me once to let me know of delays but I will use them again. Price and workmanship was good

The staff were courteous, professional, and helpful. We were happy with the room remodeling work that they completed.

I called them AFTER my siding was damaged by a recent wind storm and only after recieving poor estimates and responses from other siding contractors in the area, including astronomical price quotes. One contractor came out for an estimate, climbed up on a ladder and removed more siding than was damaged by the storm along with price gouging me with a ridiculous price quote (they could have climbed on the ladder and fixed it, but made it worse). Other contractors, promised to do the work but could not get me on their schedule, leaving me hanging. I called Northern on a Wednesday and met them two hours later at the house for an estimate. They were punctual and right on time and left me with a fair cost estimate, promising to do the work that same week. Two days after meeting them for the estimate, I received a phone call from them that the work was completed. I WILL use them in the future and would recommend them to anyone forany home improvement work. They have a beautiful showroom too and their prices and professional work and response time is great.

Very pleasant people did a very satisfactory job. Everything went as scheduled. No problems in arranging or performing the installation. I recommend this business because of its honesty and efficiency.
