We did not complete any work at this address. We did provide options to either repair a shower or to replace this tub/shower. We did not complete any work and no money was collected. We only provided a free estimate. We certainly strive to provide you with the best quality options. If you are referring to the free estimate, we apologize if you were not happy with the proposed work.

Chris and Rocky arrived on-time. In fact, Rocky was the one who put in the water heater two years ago. 1. Chris said the pipes were not wiped off properly when they were installed and that is what caused the corrosion. 2. They said they couldn't do a gas line and had to call the office, but likely they couldn't do it. 3. He suggested I put pantyhose over the drain (mind you, our basement is gutted from the flooding that occurred - I'm looking for solutions! not suggestions) He did ask if we wanted a camera put in the pipe to see if it was clogged for $150. Then, here is the kicker, I told him that I would like the hot water heater done, and he said "I can get a quote for that" and I said "Even though your firm did the work?" He told me he would have to call the office. In the end, I got a quote for $354 to REDO work they had done improperly two years prior. He said that I could use the $25 off coupon. I was livid. I looked on the back of the quote after he left and it does say "Company warrants its work to be free from defects in material and workmanship for the warranty prior of ninety (90) days from completion unless otherwise stated on the face hereof." So basically, they only guarantee their workmanship for 90 days. That really doesn't sit well with me, considering Chris easily identified that it was a poor installation that caused the corrosion. We will not be using this firm again.
Description of Work: In May 2015 we had Michigan Plumbing replace our water heater. About one year ago, I noticed the pipes connecting into the water heater looked corroded. In June 2017 we had a flood in our basement and were looking for a solution to an outdoor drain. I had been happy with Michigan Plumbing, and so I called them and was very clear about the work we needed done: 1. Look at the work they had done on the water heater and help us understand what is going on (picture of current state below) 2. Remove a gas line from a pool that was removed before we moved in. 3. Look at our outdoor drain and provide a solution. When I called, the person scheduling told me that we could look at the water heater, that I had to wait an extra day to get a certified plumber to quote and do the gas line, and that they could look at our outdoor drain.

I would use this service provider again. The workers were great, they were clean and they had the work done in about a half an hour. They cleaned up after themselves and they wore little booties on their feet when they came in the house. It was all good. We have used another service provider before this one but, I don't want to talk about it. It was not a good experience.
Description of Work: They came here back in early November. That approximate date is fine. They came out to unclog our tub. The work was completed at my primary address. The cost was about $180.00. Actually, to tell you the truth, I think it was lower. Now that I think about it, I think they only charged us a little over $100.00; maybe $120.00.

It was a lot. They were good. They did the work. It was well done. I just felt that it was expensive. What was particularly expensive was the faucet. I didn't know I needed a faucet so I didn't have the opportunity to by one myself and of course they just happened to have one in the truck that would work and I think it was about 4 or $500 dollars.

Called Monday and requested Emergency Call. Michigan Plumbing scheduled next day, Tuesday, between 11am and 3pm (soonest they could arrive). Although we didn't want to wait, we were under the impression this was a great company; we are new to the area. Michigan Plumbing called Tuesday (the day they were suppose to come) at 2:20pm and left a voicemail saying they had so many OTHER emergency calls in Lansing they wouldn't be coming. An entire DAY OF WORK WAS LOST waiting for Michigan Plumbing to arrive to help with our emergency. Very disappointed in the customer service they provided and the way the company made us feel as though we were very unimportant. Listening to the description they give of the company while waiting on hold for 15 minutes before I could be helped did not match the service provided at all!

I sincerely apologize for this inconvenience! We do all possible to get to emergency situations ASAP- certainly not the next day. I did look into this work order. There was a note that this was only to be an estimate for insurance. With this statement in the work order, it appears this is only an estimate not an emergency situation. We sincerely apologize for any and all inconvenience this caused you! Please feel free to call our office at 517-322-2994 and ask for Jacki the Office Manager. They are fabulous. They came out the same day that I called them. They were very responsive and they talked to me throughout the whole situation. They explained what had to be done, and why they were doing it. I developed a very personal relationship with one of the guys that work there. They did their job. The guy knows me a knows my system. He remembers it. When I was, absent and had to work on the other side of the country, my wife called him and he was very responsive to her request also. It's personal service. It's something you don't really get from a service provider.

Michigan Plumbing’s TV singing commercial ends with "…we’ll exceed your expectations", and I want to tell you that Michigan Plumbing definitely exceeded my expectations today. After failing to get a same day appointment with two other local plumbing companies (who advertised "24 hr. emergency service"), I contacted Michigan Plumbing just after 10:00am. The employee answering the phone took my information and asked when I would like the service performed. I responded: sometime today, preferably this morning because only my wife would be home in the afternoon, but anytime “today” would be great. After a moment, the person advised me that a technician would be coming to my house sometime this same day. She added that she would talk to the service manager about possibly getting a technician out before noon so I could be there. Less than an hour after my initial call, I received a phone call notifying me that a technician was on his way and would be there in about 20 minutes or so (coming from the other side of town) – the technician arrived as indicated 20 minutes later. My 12-year-old gas hot water heater was repaired and functioning properly before noon (less than 2 hours after my initial phone call for service). The technician put on “booties” each time he entered my house; he was very knowledgeable and clearly explained what was wrong; he provided me with several written options (resolutions) with corresponding costs while explaining each in detail – one option was to purchase a 1-year Service Plan for $59 to save 15% of any plumbing costs incurred during the next 365 days including today (I purchased the Service Plan); the other option I selected was to repair the hot water heater rather than replace it – I had mentioned that I really needed a larger capacity water heater due to the Hot Tub upstairs and a solution for that (new hot water heater) was also provided. I asked how much it would cost if I elected not to have any work performed, and the technician said “no charge – Michigan Plumbing provides free estimates." He also pointed out that Michigan Plumbing has a $40 discount coupon on Angie’s List (which I found by searching on Michigan Plumbing Inc.). I received follow-up call later in the day, asking if I was satisfied with the service and if my problem was fixed. I am very happy with the entire experience, and my expectations were truly exceeded. I will use Michigan Plumbing in the future, and would recommend this company to anyone needing plumbing services.

Things seemed to go well. The work progressed along well, there was no yelling or crying to indicate a problem, and though we didn't know exactly what was going to be involved in some of the problems, the price was held to what I was quoted. The technician, Dave, was very friendly and professional, always asking how I wanted the jobs set up, my opinion when he gave me the options of how to take care of an issue, and what time I would want him to start and stop jobs. I ended up having him do the work in two shifts, both starting at 9am - about 2p. He was always very prompt, he and my dogs got along fine, he was kept things clean, and explained everything he was going to do, what he did do, and why he was doing it that way. He even brought me a cup of coffee!
Description of Work: I bought a little 1920's bungalow that needed more work than I'd been led to believe. Michigan Plumbing came out and assessed the plumbing problems, and I set up the appointments with Dave the plumbing technician. Many of the pipes in the basement were galvanized steel that were starting to rust and crumble. There were some PVC pipes, some of which didn't look stable, so some of the pipes had to be replaced and brought up to code. Dave found a rotting piece of pipe that was ready to blow - I'm glad we ducked that one! A couple of pipes, valves and handles were nearly corroded off. Needed the hot + cold water taps & valves replaced on the tub, plus it needed a new faucet to take the water out past the reach of the overflow drain.. Bathroom was brought to code: the wrong type and size of pipes were used going into the bathroom sink as well as the tub/shower. creating a bottle-neck , and those were replaced with the proper size and type of pipe. They also took a camera through the main drain out to the road to check for tree roots, blockages and TMNTs. It was completely clear and I now have a USB record of it.

Two months later the drain backed up again when using the washer or taking a shower. I called them and the receptionist told me they would clear the drain again and it would be free. When the technician showed up he told me it would be $500. When I asked about what the receptionist told me, he said they only had a 30 day guarantee. Normally I can go two years between drain cleanings. I tried to save money and this was the first time I used this company. I refused the service. I planned bathroom breaks and metered my water usage and saved up my money to call my normal plumber. After spending $745 to have them roto root the drain and put a camera down, they said the main root infiltration was where my drain connected to the city line, so it looks like Michigan Plumbing did not go far enough to truly clear my drain line to the city sewer system.

We had a clogged sewer line in an office, they came out very fast but requested $300. up front to cover both snaking the drain and a video. We did not get a report of the video, nor a copy, the sewer drained well for about three weeks and is now clogged again. Given the video was done but no report, we now may need another video to determine why the sewer is clogging over and over. On the first run with a clog I have read that a simple snake is enough, not the expensive video and a snake on round one.

This is very disappointing to read that you were not satisfied with our work and attempts to satisfy your plumbing needs. The first call was for frozen pipes under a mobile home. I personally took many phone calls from this address and did all that we could to get you directed in the correct direction to introduce heat to the frozen pipes. We visited this home 5 times at no charge to assist with frozen pipes and to provide free estimates. On the last visit we worked to thaw the pipes under the mobile home and also provided a camera inspection of the drain at no charge! I am not sure what more we could have done to attempt to earn your business. If you still have concerns, you are always welcome to call us at 517-322-2994 to discuss.

Michigan Plumbing was very responsive to my request for an estimate. The technician doing the estimate answered all of my questions. I had a few additional questions which were answered over the phone. The installer showed up on time. He went right to work and kept me informed of the progress or any questions he had. The installation went smoothly. Once completed he cleaned up the little bit of a mess he made. Only complaint was that I would have liked to have been able to chose the water heater I wanted installed but Michigan Plumbing would not agree to that. After making calls to different plumbing contractors I found this is the norm in this area at least. The brand and model they installed was an acceptable alternative. Overall I was very satisfied with the entire water heater replacement process using Michigan Plumbing. I'd recommend them to anyone. I'll certainly use them again.

We appreciate your comments. We do record our phone calls for quality service. Customer Service is extremely important to us. The CSR manager did review this call and we found that the CSR did initially offer Tuesday as an option in which you were clearly not happy about. She was trying to explain to you that she could make an appointment on an earlier date and also offered the option to call you during the evening Saturday if a technician became free. Finally we do have technicians available overnight for 24/7 emergency service that would have been an option for you as well however you disconnected the call before she was able to explain all of this to you. We apologize for the inconvenience and hope you will give us another opportunity in the future!

I had a drain backed up in my basement. I noticed the problem just after 5pm, and many other plumbing companies were either closed for the day or would charge an after-hours/overtime fee. When I called, they said that someone would be able to come out this evening. Aaron arrived just under an hour after I called -- so that was great timing. He went downstairs and immediately figured that I had a blockage from my washing machine lint buildup. It took him under an hour to fix the problem, and was great about clean-up as well. Overall, I felt like the service was a little pricey (it was originally $204, but they took my $40 coupon from Angie's list), but Aaron mentioned that he would come back and clean the drain out again if it starts to clog back up within 30 days. He also gave me info to prevent future problems with my washing machine drain. So even though they were a little expensive, I'm very satisfied with the quality & efficiency of Michigan Plumbing!

We called in the morning, and a plumber was scheduled to arrive between 2-4. We later receive a call from the office saying the plumber's earlier jobs were taking longer than expected, and so he was now scheduled to arrive between 4-5. Later, the plumber himself called to tell us he was five minutes away. We appreciated being kept informed that way. The plumber was courteous and fairly soon had cleared the drain. Before he did any work, he explained the cost--or I should say, costs--because he offered us a straight repair dear as well as a package deal. If, for $59 ($57?) we signed up for a year-long service plan, we would get a 15% discount on any plumbing work done during the coming year, plus a free, yearly plumbing inspection. He also offered a year's supply of a bio-enzyme product for $67 that, he claimed, would help keep our drains from clogging. I declined that offer because research I'd previously done indicated there is no proof the enzyme works. (I checked on-line again today, and, while I found many advestisements singing the praises of such products, I also found a couple non-comercial sites that underscored what I'd learned before--there is no proof these products work, except to put money in the pockets of those selling them.) It is for this reason I gave Michigan Plumbing a D in professionalism. It is not professional for them to sell a product that is ineffective for the sole purpose of increasing their profits. And, I think, a case can be made for it being unethical, as well. I also gave them a D on price because $200 for the twenty minutes or so of work seemed to be high. But I guess someone has to pay for all their ads on TV! Ha. And mabye all plumbing companies charge such prices. I'm not sure. I did pay for the year-long service plan, however, but now wish I hadn't. (And I won't call them once this year is up) I think we'd have to call Michigan Plumbing at least three times during that year, assuming $200 charges both times, before our 15% discount would actually result in savings for us. That is assuming, however, that the 15% discount is not applied after their bill has been increased by 15%--no way we can know that, right? Yes, as my wife tells me, I do have a cynical outlook. But given that big business often behaves so unethically--GM and the faulty ignitions that killed people, Enron and it's cooked books that left some people penniless, Wall Street greed that caused an eight-year recession and almost a depression, one can't help but be suspicious even of small businesses. I wish it weren't so, but . . .

We pride ourselves on being professional, honest and providing quality service. We are glad that you found our group to responsive and providing a quality service. As far as your comments about the Bio-Clean product. We would certainly not attempt to “line our pockets” on a $67 product. We have decades of experience in Plumbing and Drain Cleaning as well as both licensed and Master plumbers on staff that allow us to make an educated decision on what products to offer to our customers. We offer Bio-Clean because we know that if this product is properly utilized it is very effective product in aiding in drain cleaning. We want to be our clients’ first and only choice when they need a plumber. We are certainly not going to make that happen by attempting to sell a subpar product for $67 and then lose a customer. We offer this product because we believe it can help our customers keep drains clean and keep the cost down of other potential blockages. In that same spirit, this is why we offer all of our customers our Service Partner Plan (SPP). This program is $59 annually as you mentioned. This does give the customer a 15% discount, priority service as well as an inspection of their plumbing annually. We offer up front flat rate pricing (as you experienced). This means the price is set prior to coming to your home. We absolutely DO NOT add 15% to our service prior to providing the discount. Each technician has a price book with the “Flat Rate” pricing and we deduct 15% off that rate for our SPP members. The technician can provide the price book for a customer to review prior to any work being done. Finally, we do discuss any pricing with our customers prior to any work being during our free service call. We are an ethical and reputable company that believes in providing a quality service. If you are not happy with your decision to become a SPP member, please call 517-322-2994 and ask for Jacki (Office Manager) and we will gladly refund your money and cancel the membership. Your satisfaction is extremely important to us. We hope to hear from you in the future!

Needed emergency service for a sewage back up. It happened on a Saturday night. They scheduled us for Monday Afternnon. We ended up calling Guthrie's Plumbing- Roto Rooter and they were there within 2 hrs.

Response from Michigan Plumbing Inc
We found this review to be very concerning as this is not the way we do business. We staff technicians 24/7 for plumbing emergencies and sewage backing up into a home is certainly an emergency! We do record our phone calls for quality training. With that being said, we did review this phone call into our office on Saturday evening. The information given to our CSR was that there was water backing up both in a bar sink and in a dishwasher that was not being utilized. I did not hear any mention of sewage backing up in the home. Therefore the CSR determined the issue to be a drain concern which we would schedule service. Had there been any mention of sewage backing up we would have certainly moved this into an "Emergency" call and would have scheduled a technician to get out to your home ASAP! Please know that we take an issue of sewage backing up into a home very serious and we have technicians staffed 24/7 to handle such emergencies. We are glad you were able to get your plumbing issue addressed and hope you may give us another chance in the future.
