The work cost me about $400. They were fine. They were able to open up the drain. The plumber I had used previously was unable to open the drain. The price was high, but I was willing to pay it as I needed the work done. I will use them again in the future. I have already referred them to others.

It went very well. The work was performed efficiently and quickly.
Description of Work: We had a couple of toilets in our house that were running. I called Michigan Plumbing based on the recommendations I found on Angie's List. I'm very happy that I did! This was by no means an emergency situation but they were able to come out as soon as the following morning. I made an appointment for between 8am - 10am. The plumber showed up promptly at 8am. He fixed both toilets and was done in less than 30 minutes. The price was actually $152.00 but I was able to use the $35.00 coupon I found on this site so the total came to only $117.00. This included the parts needed. I was pleased with his prompt arrival and professionalism. I would definately use them again.

(04/06/2010) I decided to use this company because I used them in the past so I know them and trust them. The guy that came to give the estimate made a bid deal about employee honesty and asked a lot of questions to make sure he knew exactly what I wanted. He just went above. UPDATE (06/08/2010) Went great. Marty came on time, informed me as each piece of work went and where changes needed to be made, didn't do anything without my "ok". They also cleaned up after they were done, so I didn't have to do that. Polite and honest guys.
Description of Work: (04/06/2010) Michigan Plumbing gave me a quote for reinstalling items in a bathroom like the sink and shower, $450.00 UPDATE (06/08/2010) Major installation. First, clawfoot tub, all fixtures, and re-doing the waste pipes to bring up to code. Second, new vanity, sink, all fixtures, again bringing the waste pipes up to code. Included new pipework in some instances.

I chose this company because it was very highly rated on Angie's List. This was my first experience using Angie's List. Based on this experience I'm a bit disappointed in Angie's List as well as Michigan Plumbing. My first attempt to contact Michigan Plumbing was on their internet contact link - which says that it is "24/7". I waited a day or so, but never heard back from them - finally my sink got so bad I ended up calling them. While I thought the plumber was very friendly and did good work - I thought it was very pricey. The charge to clean out the two lines was $543!! I thought that was outrageous. In order to "reduce the cost" I had to buy their service protection plan for $59 which then brought the total bill down to $428. I still thought this was expensive for the service provided. Fortunately I found an internet discount coupon which then brought the total down to $384 dollars. You're sort of at their mercy when you have a sink that is clogged. I guess I prefer working with a company that is more straight-forward in their pricing and not have to play all the pricing discount games.
Description of Work: They cleaned out the drain from my kitchen sink and then cleaned out the drain line from the house to the city sewer lines.

The contact link was not working properly at the time of this call; I was unaware of it and appreciate the customer bringing it to my attention. It has since been corrected and is working the way it was intended. Our prices are flat rate and come out of our price book. We do offer a discount program called our “Service Partner Plan” which saves the customer up to 35% off of our standard prices. If you purchase our Service Partner Plan you could end up saving more money than the plan originally cost. In that case it is essentially free and you still continue to save money with future calls throughout the year. There are other benefits included such as priority scheduling etc. We do offer service 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year and do not charge an after hours charge or a “trip charge to come out and look at the problem. Hopefully this will address and/or answer any questions referring to this report. Thank you, Bryan Buckhave Operations Manager

I started to do the work myself on a Saturday, but quickly realized it was beyond my skill set (and patience). I called for an estimate & was enthusiastically greeted and provided with some company specifics ... no extra cost for weekends. I set up an appointment for the next Monday within a 2 hour window. They arrived within that window. Their work was professional, friendly, and efficient. They quote by the job and there is no cost for the estimate. The pricing was a little more than I expected, but I am satisfied and would use them again.

When the toilet would no longer flush, I went to the yellow pages and Angies List looking for a plumber. I called Michigan Plumbing at about 9:30 am and was told there was a technician on our side of town who could make the service call. Two hours later, CJ arrived and within an hour and a half had completed the job. CJ was very polite, personable and professional. He explained what he was going to do, the cost, and set about doing it.
Description of Work: Long sewer pipe run from toilet to septic tank was cleaned. This entailed lifting a toilet to gain access to the pipe, mechanically cleaning the pipe, and replacing the toilet.

Two workers took about 3 minutes total to finish the job which seemed incredibly fast. They spelled out exactly what they would do and how much it would cost (they use a fixed pricing book). They seem to aim towards getting the job done quickly as well as showing up fast. They also carry parts with them so there was no waiting for them to go shopping like other plumbers. The workers were professional, knowledgeable, and polite.

We had some work done on our toilet, but the problem returned. We also had a clogged drain in our bathroom sink. We called Michigan Plumbing and was given prompt, courteous response. When the plumber arrived, he was neatly dressed and very professional in nature and appearance. He listened to our description of our problems, did a thorough inspection, and provided us with an estimate on the spot. We decided to have the work done immediately, and he performed the work quickly. We are pleased with the quality of the work performed, and our experience overall.

I completely agree with this member that the price was WAY too high for the task at hand. The job he is referring to was installing a customer supplied lavatory faucet. We arrive at our prices by using an up-front pricing book that contains most all the tasks that we do on a regular bases. We do not recommend installing customer supplied parts as we cannot guarantee the products performance or stand behind the warranty work if the product fails as we do with our products. For this reason our price book does not contain any prices for customer supplied products. We charge flat rate prices with a potential of up to 35% off our standard prices if the customer chooses to go with the “Service Partner Plan”. If the job was for a customer supplied faucet only, without shut-offs, supply hoses, pop-up assembly, and a trap (which are normally used when installing a lavatory faucet) then the price should have been substantially less than quoted. I sincerely apologize for this miscommunication and look forward to earning your trust back on a future date. Thank you for your time patience, Bryan Buckhave Operations Manager

Everything went well; it took a little longer to get the water softener removed than expected because the original plumbing was not "according to Hoyle" -- it took two tries to make sure everything worked correctly. (This did not cost me anything additional to the original estimate.)
Description of Work: 1. Open plugged drain for washing machine 2. Preventative cleaning of main sewer line (per my request, not based on a suggestion from them - I get my main drain cleaned every six months to prevent problems, and it was about time) 3. Removal of an old water softener and repluming water supply lines, replacing leaky shut-off valve.

Really well. They scheduled after hours with no extra charge. They called at twice to confirm they were coming and the arrival time. This project started in march, when my sewerline backed up into my basement for the first time. Michigan Plumbing came out to clear out the blockage, and recommended running a TV line through the pipes to see what was going on. It was determined that there was a lot of build up in my sewerline pipe, as they were the original cast iron pipes from when my house was built in 1937. The drain tech figured I had 3-4 months, but I would continue to back up, and my basement would flood. In this first meeting, they also discuss their "service provider plan", which is a good deal, if you need to have plumbing work done. Basically, it is a year-long membership/discount program from them. If you purchase this plan, all of your work is discounted. I didn't see the harm in purchasing it on that first day, because it already paid itself back in the discounts from the work done that day. With the rains we've had in the last couple of weeks, my sewerline started backing up on a regular basis, and I scheduled an appointment to have the drain replaced after calling them out to open up the sewerline 3 times in just over a week's time. I called to set the appointment on a Saturday, and they were able to schedule the replacement on the following Wednesday with the promise that they would open up the drains free of charge if there were any problems in the meantime. They arrived timely on Wednesday morning, bringing along the concrete cutters. They worked all day until about 6:00pm. They actually almost finished the entire job that day, but were missing some parts to fit under my sink, and opted to come back in the morning, rather than keep me waiting all night. At the end of the first day, I had access to the toilet, bathroom sink, and shower/tub. They still needed to complete the work under the kitchen and laundary sinks. The plumber had promised that the wouldn't leave until I had access to my bathroom again, and he held to it. On Thursday, due to some scheduling conflicts, they couldn't get to my house until about 1:30pm. I met them on my lunch hour and let them into my house. They finished the kitchen and laundary sinks without any problems. Then they cleaned up the pile of concrete and pipes that was in my driveway from the basement and left. At that point, the only thing left was for the subcontractor to come fill in the trench in the basement with concrete. This was scheduled for the following morning and coordinated through the Michigan Plumbing. The subcontractor arrived on time the following morning to fill in the trench in the basement, cleaned up their mess after they were done, and left about 3 hours after arriving. I had no complaints from the whole process.
Description of Work: To start with, the drain techs came out to open up my sewer drains, and sent a TV line through the drains to see where the problem was. Then they replaced the entire sewerline and all drains in my house. This entailed cutting out the old sewer drain from under the concrete in my basement, pulling all old cast iron pipes out, re-laying all new drain pipes in the basement, which includes piping all of the way up to the sinks, toilet and tub on the first floor. In addition to that, the plumber found that my old food waste disposal had a hole in it, and replaced it while he was putting in the new plumbing.

I called for family. He was in a nursing home and she had just had surgery and was in the hospital. I was filling in with over care of the home family and pets. The damage was severe, leaking water pipes under a house crawl space. This family has no means to take care of much. Michigan plumbing was called and I set up an appointment. They called before arriving so I could meet them, they were very prompt. They surveyed the damage, and give me the two estimates and waited while I called and talked to the two family members. After getting the go ahead, they got what they need in parts and repaired the damage within in a couple of hours. They were neat, polite, considerate and very professional. Mark took time to explain every detail and was very down to earth and respectful. I would have Michigan Plumbing back in a heartbeat. Thank you to them. Nancy.

I called Michigan Plumbing at 7:45 AM. CJ was at our house by 8:30 AM that morning. He was friendly and very careful not to track snow and dirt in the house. He looked at our toilet, gave us an estimate comparing different options. We decided to go with the service protection plan because that saved us a few dollars plus I had some questions about other possible plumbing problems in our house. He installed both a new stop valve and fill valve efficiently and was willing to answer any questions that we had about the plumbing in our house. CJ is a real professional! Not only does he know his job, but he has a wonderful attitude towards the customer.
Description of Work: Our 45 year old toilet was leaking. The turn off valve was corroded and when I tried to turn it off, it started a slow water leak. It was because the fill valve was leaking both air and water that I attempted to see if I could turn off the water in case it got any worse. I made it more of a problem, so I decided to call in a professional.

The job progressed very well. They attempted mechanical rotary cleaning from inside the house, which was the least expensive solution, but it was not possible to get through the roots blocking the tile, so they did not charge us for that. The next day they installed the exterior access in frozen ground and terrible weather (no complaints) and cut through the blockage with a high pressure rotary water jet system, showing us video of the inside of the tile line before and after. An amazingly effective job.
Description of Work: Cleaned our sewer from the house to the city sewer and installed an exterior clean out next to the house (necessary for the water jet method--too messy to do from inside).
