+ -1 moreOn Monday morning we called another plumber who opened the cap from the main sewer line (which the Michigan Plumbing Rep did not touch) and showed us how badly the drain was plugged. He rootered it out, flushed the line and charged us $125.00 for the service call. He was in and out of here within 1 hour. Mid-Michigan never investigated the immediate problem area. They were ready to get out the BIG guns and tear our yard up and charge us $1500. I am so glad that I did not just take their word for it!
Description of Work: Michigan Plumbing responded to an emergency service call for a sewer/drainage problem within 2 hours on a Saturday afternoon. After looking at the problem area (inside) where there was leakage, they told us that they would have to dig outside and gave us an estimated cost of about $1200 to dig and install and $280 to blow out sewer line. He told us that he would not recommend cleaning the pipe out from the inside as that is very messy and more costly. He left never touching anything and expecting to return on Mon or Tues to dig and investigate. He left knowing that we would not have any plumbing for the entire weekend.

+ -1 moreThe initial plumber responded, diagnosed the problem and was supposed to order a part and make the repair the next day. One week later, no part, no plumber, no shower and three missed appointments. We missed work to wait for him, and the last time he did not even call to say he was not coming, I had to call their offices to get an explanation, I then requested a different service person. The person they sent was excellent, service was great, shower was repaired and he assisted us with using a new water heater. He was very punctual and professional. So, my review is mixed, but I think the blame falls on a bad employee and not the company.
Description of Work: They were repairing a shower, the water was only coming out boiling hot. It needed a replacement part, which was a little hard to get and had to be ordered from out of town.

We were happy and they did a great job. They weren't here very long, and it seemed a little expensive. Two guys came and it was very convenient. They did respond right away.
Description of Work: They replaced a faucet and valves in my laundry room. They also replaced some piping under the sink.

+ -1 moreA technician arrived at 10:00pm and spent 2 hours fixing the drain. He was very friendly and kind, especially for someone who was working on a weekend. The cost was a little more than we expected, but we got what we paid for. We were very pleased and would definitely recommend them to others.

They sent a technician out within the day and gave me a free estimate so we could submit a claim to our home warranty company. They arrived when they said they would. The technician "Ron" was friendly, knowledgeable, answered all our questions, and got the job done in a reasonable amount of time. He even cleaned up the mess! As long as Michigan Plumbing keeps up the great work, they have a customer for life. Thanks Michigan Plumbing!

+ -1 moreI have a slow moving drain that leaves the house and there were tree roots in it, and they cleaned the tree roots out. They respond quickly. They do give you an appointment, but my only concern was that they didn’t seem to have everything they needed to do the job. He needed to get a plastic bag for me to throw the waste stuff away. Other plumbers have put plastic downstairs so that when they drag their equipment, they don’t leave marks on your stairs and stuff. He didn’t do that; he could have been neater. The job itself was fine.
Description of Work: I last used Michigan Plumbing in January for cleaning out a slow moving drain.

Description of Work: Way overpriced! I received a price estimate for moving a washer and dryer from the basement to the first floor from 4 businesses, one of them being Michigan Plumbing, Inc. This is a rather simple project.Three of the price quotes-were priced around $1,400. This company priced the same work at $2,400. Needless to say I will never get an estimate nor use this company. They were very prompt getting to my home and very professional when they were there.

They people on the first call weren't as experienced as the later crew. The work has a lifetime guarantee on it. They came out right away and came back to do the work when it was arranged.

+ -1 moreThe technician made a concerted effort to ensure we understood the costs of the procedure. If it had been just myself I would have been annoyed, but the work was done at my 82 yr old mother's home, and I think he was concerned because she had so readily agreed to a more expensive procedure,therefore, I appreciated his concern.
Description of Work: For the third time in 2 1/2 years we had sewage back up in the basement. We decided to try another company since the first had not resolved the issue. Michigan Plumbing recommended (because of the age of the house, the city's sewer separation project and the recurring problems) "jet washing" the drain pipes and checking the condition of the pipes with a camera. Obviously this procedure costs more than a normal rotorooting. After the procedure was complete a poison was applied to the areas were roots were coming into the pipes. The poison is guaranteed for a year, and if the roots grow back the pipes are cleaned free of charge. This service provided "peace of mind" because previous companies had tried to convince us to dig up the yard and replace the old cast iron pipes with PVC because they were probably broken etc. The video inspection revealed only two small areas where tree roots were getting into the pipes and that the primary cause of the blockage was the build up of sediment over 95 years of use. Each year the poison needs to be reapplied, but beyond that we should be relatively free of drainage issues.

They were professional. They came when promised. The water heater is working just fine ever since. We spent $800 to $900. Their quality was very good. We would use them again in the future.

+ -1 moreActually, I didn't call "Michigan Plumbing," but a company with a different name (don't recall the exact name at the moment). I specifically did NOT call Michigan Plumbing because their prices are exorbitant. When, I went to pay the technician, he told me to write it to Michigan Plumbing! Apparently, Michigan Plumbing had bought out a couple of other companies in the Lansing area, but let them keep their original name. I was quite peeved to learn the price of the service - close to $300. I would recommend that anyone contacting a plumber in the Lansing area ask if the company is affiliated with Michigan Plumbing. If it is, expect to "pay through the nose!" Overall, the technicians/services are fine. It is their prices for their services that are extremely expensive.
Description of Work: The date above is approximate. We had a backup in our drains that flooded onto our basement floor. They came and ran their auger through the drain so the water would flow out to the street.

They increased their price after I had a contract by $100.00 which my girlfriend paid because she didn't realize you don't have to do that. They tricked my girlfriend into paying $100.00 extra because it was her. They said it would be $900.00 and they charged $1000.00. I was at work and she paid it and I just let it go. The work was done correctly. They jacked up the price on me.
Description of Work: Michigan Plumbing replaced a part of the sewer line outside the house in July 2005.
