Modern Plumbing Sewer & Drain Contractors

This was my first time using Modern Plumbing Service. Office staff were very efficient with setting up same-day service call and up-front about fees and cost estimate. The service technician called ahead when en route, arrived as scheduled and wasted no time getting to the task at hand. My only unexpected surprise was that after removing the water filter unit, an extra shut-off valve was installed rather than a single length of pipe. However, options had not been discussed and I assumed the latter to be the obvious solution. Otherwise, I was very pleased with the service and post-job cleanup. Two months later, I again called on Modern Plumbing to repair the shut-off valve to the water well. Replacing the unit required the help of a second service technician. I was not charged for the time required for him to arrive. Again, all staff were pleasant and efficient in getting the job completed.

Initial contact at office was friendly and gathered enough information to give an accurate quote. Michael called first before heading out - was prompt, considerate to my home and yard. Very friendly, helpful and informative. They know what they are doing. I would recommend Modern Plumbing for septic.

Men weren't terribly professional in their demeanor, but they were good at what they did.

They were very accommodating when I called to make an appointment. They told me when to expect the plumber, and how the bill would be calculated. I managed to get the drain unplugged myself, and I called to cancel the appointment. They were polite and professional and congratulated me on fixing my own problem.

We called and got them scheduled and got pricing per 15 minutes and for the visit. They arrived at the early part of the range given for arrival which was good. The person who came to perform the work apparently didn't have the tool he felt was needed for the job of thawing the pipe. I understood this, but was a bit frustrated since given the symptoms and the weather, a frozen line perhaps should have been prepared for. Maybe that's not fair, but I would have considered having that available given the time of year. I was told that he would be swapping jobs with another service person who did have the tool they needed. It seemed like it would be a short wait, maybe an hour or so. 2-3 hours later the second truck arrived with two service men. They were very nice and cordial trying to assure us that they could take care of it. I was very disappointed that given the weather especially, neither one removed or covered their boots. They tracked footprints on my carpet all the way upstairs and into my bedroom. I had to ask them to remove their shoes or cover them and provided them with grocery bags. That wasn't ideal. After we pulled the plug on trying to do it after 45 minutes or so with no results, I learned that the tool they used was charged to me for $95! The problem wasn't the charge, it was the fact that this charge wasn't disclosed until i got the bill. The good thing they did was, after a call to the main office, remove the charge from the bill. It took a bit of conversation and explanation, but it was taken care of. We appreciated them being reasonable in that regard. So, we paid about $200 and ultimately did not fix the problem. I don't blame them for the issue not being fixed but it would have felt better had we resolved it. Overall, they were nice and reasonable and I would call them again if the need arose.

We purchased a new home with a septic. However, the public sewer line ran along our property. Modern crew arrived on time. The crew leader advised what they would be doing and the path they were taking through the yard. We live in a very wooded area and Modern selected the least invasive and least destructive path to connect our new sewer line. Yes, in the Spring we will need to reseed and correct the lawn. However, the work was done in one day and I would highly recommend them for any service you need. The office staff was clear with directions and with the amount of the service. Very pleased.

Very prompt , professional and efficient

It was a fairly easy installation. The plumber wasn't the neatest (but my old water heater was ancient, so there was probably more debris).

Tech introduced himself, very pleasant, and completed the job. Very professional. Also, called the office to check to be sure they were still coming because we had a terrible storm with power outages and trees down and thought it might not be possible for their trucks to get through. The gal in the office was very pleasant and said they would be coming out and would call before they came--which they did.

Replaced a sewage pump in our basement lift station.

Everything went great. The service provider was on time, polite, helpful and extremely knowledgeable. He pumped the septic tank and then took the time to help make sure we didn't have a blockage somewhere by listening in the tank as I flushed toilets and ran water throughout the house. He took a lot of time to help and explained things very well. I would use Modern again and would recommend them to anyone needing service.

They arrived, promptly set up their equipment, cleaned the septic tank and attached pipes. They removed their equipment and cleaned the surrounding area. They were here for 40 minutes.

Modern's staff was always VERY professional! They never asked to use the bathroom or for water, etc. None of the workers even came into our house at any time! They were on time, worked steadily, and were very polite. Initially, we received an estimate for $600-800 for the job. They ran into troubles because the blockage wasn't were they had expected it. The final bill was almost $2,500! Quite a bit more than what was initially estimated. In future, we would recommend this company to others, but it would help the company's good standing if their estimates were closer to the mark.

The whole process couldn't have gone better. Linda guided me through each step and took care of all of the details. I received frequent updates and all of my questions were answered quickly. Modern even took care of the county permits and met with the health department so I didn't have to miss any work. The day that the system was installed, everything was well coordinated and done quickly. The crew did a great job cleaning up and all I had to do was reseed the lawn.

We had purchased a big deal for the service, and they honored the coupon. They figured out what causing the problem with the hot water and fixed it, and that was very good. We asked them to look at a couple of things in our bathroom, one of the things was when we flushed the handle didn't come back up, the bath shower lever was difficult to pull up and they worked on both of those. I had to go and buy another part for the shower, and they fixed it, they worked on the toilet, and after they left, there was only a little water that was going into the bowl when flushed, and so we called them back. They said that it was our fault, and we should have done something, which was not true, because it was flushing fine before they came. They said we would have to pay for the service fee and the charges. Parts of their service were good and other parts were not.

They were great. They were reasonably priced and they came right out. They were very prompt and they were able to get out here quickly. They were helpful. We had a clog going out to our septic tank and we had water backing up. I watched through with them before they actually came out to make sure that it needed to be pumped. I definitely will use them again. Like I said they were great and they came right out. They were really helpful especially over the phone because I had to explain to them what the issue was.

Called and asked if he could come early on the day scheduled since he was in the neighborhood. Very professional, explained what he was doing and why. Cleaned up after finished.

My experience with them went very well. He did everything well. He was friendly and did it as timely as he could. He was here a lot of the day but he did a lot of work. I appreciated that. He didn’t take a lot breaks. He forgot to do one service but I forgot it too. His price was fine and fair.

Problem: Water heater leaking. A time convenient to me was scheduled by a most pleasant and knowledgeable receptionist, Amanda. She not only scheduled prompt service, she also gave a very close estimate in cost, and instructed me on how to shut the water heater and gas off to prevent further leakage until the workers could arrive. The plumbers, Travis and Dan, arrived as scheduled and established that a new water heater was necessary as well as a new shut-off valve. Within a half an hour, they returned with a new replacement heater. Installation of the new unit was rapid and an old shut-off valve was brought up to code. The men were obviously capable and efficient. In short order, the new unit was in and the old unit removed to their truck. Before leaving, they made sure that all functioned properly and that I was satisfied and aware of how to operate the new water heater. Each also took the time to be sure that all was clean and tidy before leaving. Both were very pleasant and respectful young men. A follow-up call was made to insure that I was satisfied and was having no problems. Plumbing problems are never pleasant, but this company eases you through the repair without making it an ordeal. You won't go wrong scheduling work to be done by Modern. I've been with them for over twenty years and have never had a need to complain.

These people were very unprofessional and tried to take advantage of our lack of knowledge. They arrived early even though I told them that my husband would not be home until the appointment time. They proceeded to discuss the job with me and then wanted to leave, but I made them wait for my husband because he needed the information and he had questions. They were very impatient the entire time. They dismissed my questions and seemed inconvenienced by the visit. The main plumber even said that he had had a terrible day and "didn't feel like" spending much time on our estimate. He gave us a ballpark and said he would send a better estimate via email. We did not receive the estimate until almost two weeks later, even though he said at the time that the pipe should be fixed immediately. We had someone else do the work, and that company had the estimate that afternoon. Also, two other plumbers who gave us estimates told us that something Modern Plumbing said needed fixing did not, in fact, need to be repaired. The ballpark estimate we got from Modern Plumbing included an extra $90 for the repair that they said we needed but did not need. I was uncomfortable with them in our home, and felt that they were uninterested in treating us with respect but very interested in seeing how much money they could get out of us.

They were wonderful and their price was very reasonable. The technician that came was very cordial and knowledgeable.

Great! They even let me know fixing same thing in next month had no service charge so if it seemed liked it was not working 100% I might want to replace pump within 30 days.

The guys from Modern Plumbing Sewer & Drain Contractors were really quick. Their price is pretty comparable.

Our water softener had been sounding the caution alarm for almost a year before we thought we could afford to have it serviced (a previous service by the installing company -NOT Modern- for the same alarm had been very pricey so we were not anxious to repeat the experience). When Travis came out the first time he dissected the unit and found something lodged in the device that he felt may be causing the problem. He cautioned us that if this didn't solve the problem we might be looking at the possibility of process of elimination trouble-shooting, and the possibility of a very expensive fix. Sadly, the caution light came on at next regeneration so husband called the technician to tell him what had happened; he said he wanted to look into a few things before we put any more money into it, and he would call us back. It took a few days, but when he called back he explained that he had been doing some heavy research; talking to the manufacturer, service techs, and even a local "expert" on our type of softener so he had the most complete information. At his second visit Travis was able to fix the problem in a short amount of time. We are very pleased with the quality of service provided by Modern Plumbing Sewer & Drain Contractors! Even though it took two visits to solve the issue, the cost was actually less than we expected: the $221.00 fee was a combined cost of both visits with the service call fee of $59 waived for the second visit. Travis went above-and-beyond-the-call of any technician in trying to solve our problem with a minimum of cost. We will definitely be using Modern for any future plumbing issues.
