The job came with some bad news in that the "point" of our well is wearing out and signs point to the need for a new well in the next 3 to 5 years. The work we had done, new pressure tank, needed to be done and will be retained even if we go the route for the new well. Not anyone's fault but frustrating none the less. I had to call Joe back to make another adjustment on the pump/motor settings to further compensate for the well's overall condition. He was back almost before I hung up the phone. Joe was easy to work with, kept us informed of what he was doing and what else needed to be done. No surprises, no nonsense, nothing on the bill that we weren't expecting and ready to pay for... Joe was running a bit late this morning but called to let me know and push back the appointment by 30 minutes. He hit the second mark on the nose. We would (and are planning to) have Joe back to work in our house without hesitation.

Another A+++++ experience with Joe Kerns from Dependable Plumbing! After 21 years in our home we decided it was finally time to get a water softener. There was no hesitation to go directly to Joe to get his opinion and check on his availability. He recommended the Sterling unit stating that he's been installing them for 10+ years and it's the one he uses in his home. I'm a research/Consumer Reports guy but this is one of the rare occasions where I completely trusted a recommendation. I appreciated the fact that Joe took care of buying and picking up the water softener. Joe was right on time the day of the installation. He chose to bring everything in through the basement entrance instead of coming through the house even though that meant he had to go through some pretty deep snow! The installation itself took about 3 1/2 hours. Afterwards Joe did a great job of showing me what he had done and explaining how to use the softener. He was completely patient in answering my questions and explained things in a way I could understand. One major thing I forgot to thank Joe for was in what great shape he left the work area/basement in. I think one of the best compliments you can give to a contractor is that after they're gone you couldn't tell that they had been there. That has always been the case with Joe and this time was no exception. Except for the (pretty cool looking) water softener and the necessary new plumbing you would have never known an installation had just been completed. No mess, no footprints (even though Joe had been in and out through the snow). I recommend Dependable Plumbing and Joe Kerns for all of your plumbing needs with 100% confidence!!!

A couple of weeks ago, I called Joe with a plumbing question, and within 30 minutes, he came to a jobsite to look at a tubdeck faucet. There was a super small access hole, and the customer wanted the fixture replaced. He was able to disconnect the faucet, and give suggestions on how the homeowner should proceed to remedy her problem. Within 1 hour of the phone call he had showed up, looked at, and fixed her problem!

Joe arrived on time, suggested a less-expensive way to solve my plumbing problems, and performed the work perfectly and in a lot less time than I thought. Thanks, Joe, for great service, and thank you Angie!!

Left a voicemail early on Dec 26 with details of the problem. He did not call back so I left another message late in the day. When I called him again the next morning, he answered and agreed to come out the following morning even though he was trying to limit his service calls to catch up on paperwork. He arrived promptly and had the problem diagnosed and fixed in under an hour.

Absolutely excellent and first-rate. The entire job went very smoothly and without incident. Joe was here for 8 hours. He is thorough, knowledgeable, and easy-going. Some things we especially appreciated: (1) Joe cleaned up and picked up as he worked. When he cut out all the old pipe, he removed it from our basement and took it out to his truck before going on to the next step (installing the new pex pipe). (2) Joe had a shop vac with him at all times and sucked the water out of the pipes before he cut them completely off. If any water made it to the floor (very little did), he cleaned it up right away. (3) Without being asked, Joe slipped off his shoes when coming upstairs into the living areas of our home. These were details that meant a lot to us and contributed greatly to his job success and our satisfaction with his work. We got five bids for this job, and Joe's bid was the most reasonable and best suited our needs. But we contracted with him based on the strength of all past Angie's List reviews. We were not disappointed. We plan to contract with Joe again in the spring to replace all the waste piping in our home. We have every confidence that he will do a superior job for us again.

Joe arrived promptly at the agreed upon time (9:00 a.m.) and went right to work. It's now 11:15 as I'm writing this review (Joe was done at 11:00). Joe was quick, thorough and left absolutely no mess. I couldn't be happier with the entire experience. Joe also juggled his schedule to fit us in. The old heater was leaking and we wanted to have it taken care of before Thanksgiving. Initially, my wife and I thought we would be able to get the new heater through a relative that works at Bradford and White. When that fell through I contacted Joe because I was not sure where to buy one or if I picked it up would it be delivered? Joe said that normally he purchases the heater, picks it up and brings it with him on the install date. It was great having him take care of everything. I had done some online research on the pricing so I was 100-percent comfortable with that as well. All in all, another great experience with Joe. We wouldn't hesitate to use him again or to recommend him to friends, family or to anyone reading this review.

I'm playing catch-up in reviewing Joe Kerns with Dependable Plumbing Services. First of all he has always been prompt, professional and courteous in the work he's done for us. He's done work for my mother-in-law and we wouldn't hesitate to refer Joe to our family and friends. This morning (Monday 11/12) he made time in his schedule on short notice (because I have Veterans Day off) to come out and diagnose a problem with a water leak/hot water heater issue. I appreciated the fact that he was able to fit us in and he will definitely be the one to install the new "heater". We used Joe this summer to reinstall a toilet in our bathroom after having to replace the flooring due to the toilet leaking. The contractor that installed the flooring was sure that the toilet had been "seated" improperly and that the leak was coming from the seal.He felt that he could reinstall the the toilet himself. We decided to go with a professional plumber and are glad that we did. Joe discovered and repaired several leaks in the toilet itself when reinstalling it. Bottom line, if we had let the contractor do it the toilet would have continued to leak and ruined the new sub-flooring and flooring that we had just repaired/installed! Joe repaired a bathtub drain for my mother-in-law and she had the same positive experience that we have had (trust me, we would have known otherwise!). Again, the work was done professionally, promptly and at a fair price. It's very reassuring to know that if we have any sort of plumbing issue that we have someone like Joe that we have confidence in to take care of it!

Joe showed up on time for our appointment to discuss my small bathroom remodel/upgrade. I told him upfront that I just wanted an estimate and that I was not sure when I would be able to get the money to pay for what I wanted done. He was very helpful in making several suggestions to resolve my current bathroom issues, including temporary fixes to allow me to use the shower until I was able to afford the full remodel the room really requires. He did not try to up-sell me or rush me on my timeline. I felt comfortable talking with him, and I plan to use him for the job once I have the money saved for this project.

My wife and I noticed water dripping into our basement from the subfloor above. Upon inspection, it appeared to be coming from the area of the dishwasher. I called Joe and he was able to come out the next day to inspect. He quickly found four leaks from the dishwasher, and he recommended that we buy a new one, since the existing one was quite old. We went to an appliance store and ordered a new one. I arranged for Joe to come out on the day after it was to be delivered. He removed the old unit and installed the new one, and it works fine. The work was difficult because the space was very tight, particularly due to a new floor that had been put in after the original dishwasher was installed. Joe also hauled away the old dishwasher as well as the carton for the new one. As always, Joe was professional, helpful, friendly, expert, fair, punctual, communicative, and overall a great pleasure to do business with.

Asked Joe to come over to give an estimate for the water softener and interior main water line gate valve replacements the week before. At that time, he explained, in a succinct manner, the potential problems and how he would address these and gave me an estimate of the total cost of the project. Although the digital water softener price was not cheap I decided to go with his recommendation, mainly due to our previous positive experiences with him. On the day of service, he was there on time, performed the needed 'excisions' and replacements in a neat and compact manner, (and in less time than his estimate), and left the premises clean. He was able to use some copper tubing from the previous water softener installation which saved us some money. BTW: the actual cost of the services he performed came in $200 less than his estimate.

Called Joe, who had done some work for us last year that was done well and quickly. He scheduled an appointment with us within a few days, came and looked at the problem, and noted that he would need some aditional fixtures. He returned with the necessary fittings at a mutually agreeable time, performed the work neatly and within the time frame he had previuosly mentioned, and cleaned up the work area. The estimated cost ws the final cost - no surprises. Joe was punctual, professional, did a great job, and shared information with us freely.

On Friday July 6 at 6 PM I found water leaking from underneath our hot water tank. I called Joe shortly thereafter and left a message not expecting an immediate call-back due to the holiday weekend. About 10 minutes later I received a call from Joe and we scheduled the removal/replacement of the hot water tank for the coming Tuesday, July 10. Joe was on time, went to work and next thing I knew the old was out and the new was in! He ran new gas lines and exhaust, cleaned-up after himself and then started running water back into the system. While doing so he noted the length of time it took to recharge the system and I told him we have times where we will loose 60% of our water pressure for 5-10 minutes. Joe spent about an hour going through all of the valves, holding tank, softener and iron removal system trying to find where the loss of pressure was coming from. He found the iron removal system decreases the system pressure when water is flowing through the air-bed and suggested setting the recharge time to account for the time when pressure is lost. Joe's number is programmed into my phone and I will highly recommend him to anyone who asks about a plumber.

We have had some backups from our washing machine drain (and shower) and after signing up for Angie's list, found Joe's name. Have seen his vehicle in the neighborhood and had good references so called him to get an estimate and help figure out what was causing the problem. He came by and told us it was probably tree roots and would need to have the drain cleared. Unfortunately, that is not something he does, but he was very up front and informative about it. He did point out that whoever did it would need to do it through the toilet drain and because of our layout would need either a rooter machine that broke down or extra help to lift a regular one over our vanity. I would definitely hire him with any regular plumbing issues that I have come up.

I was very impressed with the following: Expertise, Professionalism, Job Cleanliness, Price. During the initial rough plumbing date the plumber observed that we were using special fixtures, and went out of his way to make sure to get supplies that complimented the fixtures. I plan on recommending Dependable Plumbing to friends and relatives.

Joe did a great job. We called on Friday evening to see if Joe would be available to install a new dishwasher Monday and it was no problem. We called Joe as soon as the dishwasher arrived and he arrived within 15 minutes. Joe was very careful and layed down a tarp so that our floors would not get scratched. Very carefully Joe removed the old dishwasher and took it out of the house. Joe had to change the lines and couplings and carefully installed the new dishwasher. It was a great job and worth every penny!

Excellent! I called Joe and service was scheduled for the same week on a day and time of my choosing. He arrived on time (8 AM), went through the systems in the utility room, drained and checked the pressure on the water storage tank, replaced the sink aerator and looked at all other items which needed attention. Some specific parts were required and a return visit was scheduled, again on a day and time of my choice, for completion of the remaining projects. Upon the return visit, the check valve was installed, shower parts were replaced and the outside water faucet was rebuilt. After completion he went through all water sources in the home to make sure everything was operating properly and that there were no leaks. Joe cleaned as he went and no cleaning or straightening was needed after he left. I no longer have to look for a plumber as Joe will be my one and only call and I would highly recommend him to anyone.

Joe was professional and polite. Joe cleaned up after himself and was VERY helpful all around. We just moved to the area and Joe even referred other vendors to us. He told us that if we are quoted amounts in certain ranges to not use the companies because they were merely a rip off. Great job, and great guy!

Did job quick and no issues. Called on Monday arranged time on Saturday, called prior and was able to come earlier. Job was as quoted, with no extra travel charges etc that other out of town plumbers charge.

Joe returned our call quickly, and we described the situation to him. He gave us a quote over the phone and said it wouldn't be over that, and it wasn't. We set up a time to do the work, but he had a cancellation and called to see if he could do it sooner which worked better for us. He was on time, did the work quickly, and cleaned up everything. The water heater was in the basement and he removed and hauled away the old one. He explained everything he did and made sure it all was working properly before he left. We didn't get any other estimates, just checked Angie's List. Our water heater was leaking and we were leaving town in a few days so didn't have a lot of time to get other estimates.

Joe was called and returned my call as soon as he could. He explained his work schedule for the week, and then gave me a date to call him back. At that time, we set up an appointment for the work to be done. When the appointment day came he was here on time,( actually a bit before the appointed time ), did the work, cleaned up any mess, and charged what he quoted.No last minute add ons. He was most friendly and shared information freely.

When I needed someone to look at our water softener, I called and left a message. He returned my call right away, and took down the information. He was there the following day to diagnose the problem. He returned within a couple days and fixed the softener. We also had him hook up a new hot water heater that we already had in the basement. He was prompt courteous and professional. His prices were reasonable, and we will definitely recommend this company to others.

He'll take you off of the clock at any point in time which is amazing. He's very reasonable. He does great work. I'll be having him back to repair an outside faucet soon.

I called Joe to ask for an estimate. I got his voice mail, but he returned the call same day. I told him I wanted to put in a new water softener, replace a water heater, and remove an in-line filter. He came out that same evening, tested the water for hardness and provided an estimate. I also contacted two other contractors, both of whom came out to provide estimates. Joe's estimate was slightly lower than the others. I selected him based on his positive reputation, price, and the advantage of doing business with someone located in our small town. I called him to tell him I wanted him to do the work. He scheduled it for 5 or 6 calendar days in the future, mostly so he could be assured of getting the equipment. He arrived on time, performed the work carefully and professionally, and the equipment works great! He is friendly and helpful, and it was great to work with him.
