At the beginning of the year the decision was made to get our house ready to move my mother-in-law in. You would think that the first person we would have contacted would be a contractor. Not in this case, based on the great experiences we've had with Joe Kerns/Dependable Plumbing and certain aspects of the remodel- moving the washer and dryer from the basement to the upstairs, putting in two new tub/shower units, two new vanities and two new toilets we made Joe our first call. We knew we wanted Joe to do all of the plumbing and also wanted to get his opinion/input on what we wanted to do. Joe assured us that the project was "doable" and even recommended the contractor that we ended up using for the carpentry/construction part of the job (Felcyn Construction- see my other reviews). The actual work was done over the course of this past summer. As always, Joe's work and work ethic were just great! Joe makes sure that you understand what he's doing and why he's doing it. For example, he made sure that the downstairs tub/shower unit sat on a very secure cement base (which he poured himself) so that the tub would always stay level, drain properly and never separate from its mountings. That was good information that made me feel confident about the work. We added a couple of things and Joe took them right in stride- grab bars in the upstairs tub/shower, an extra toilet we initially hadn't planned on replacing. It's really nice to work with someone who you feel like you can approach (without trepidation!) with those extras or "tweaks" that come up over the course of a project. Joe worked seamlessly with the contractor to keep the job moving along. If Joe needed to complete a certain part of the plumbing before the contractor could move forward it got done! I've always appreciated the way Joe is very careful to make sure everything is working the way that it's supposed to before considering the job, or that part of the job, complete. And, as always, after Joe has finished up something or that days work you would never know that he had been there. He is very respectful of you and your home. On to the completed product...Me, my wife and my mother-in-law LOVE our new bathrooms! It's made the transition for my mother-in-law easier- she loves her new tub and vanity. She's enjoying the convenience of having the washer and dryer right there at her fingertips. Joe's quality work played a major part in the project and the transition. It was very comforting that from the outset we knew we didn't have to worry about the plumbing part of the remodel. We knew that we would use Joe Kerns/Dependable Plumbing and we knew from previous experience that the work would be flawless and at a fair price. That's a pretty unbeatable combination! I would absolutely recommend and encourage you to use Joe for any of your plumbing needs!

He arrived at my house at the time we scheduled . He took his shoes off at the door. He cleaned and picked everything up when he was done. Was very professional. Would recommend him to anyone who needs any plumbing done.

Joe is meticulous in his work. He finds the problem area and immediately handles the situation. After completing the repair to my leaky toilet tank, he shop-vac'd the bathroom floor and recommended that I put a fan on the area to help completely dry it out. It's difficult to find someone who will come out to your house on the same day that you call, but Joe has always made time to get to my repairs as quickly as possible without rushing a job with another customer.

This is our fourth time using Joe (check out our previous reviews) and as usual we're 100% satisfied. We've had a garbage disposal that hasn't worked for years that's been on my "to do" list forever. Joe was finishing up a larger job (to be reviewed separately) and I asked if he could take a look at it. Other contractors may have been a little put out to be asked to do "one more thing" before leaving but not Joe! He immediately checked it out, determined what needed to be done and then did it. I was hoping to just get the disposal removed and I ended up with new plumbing and a new drain in the sink. As always, when Joe was done you couldn't even tell he had been there. The price was right as well, all that for $75! You can't go wrong with Joe Kerns/Dependable Plumbing!

Joe came to the house upon my original call a couple of weeks ago. He looked at the two pop-up drains we were having problems with as well as the residue that was collecting in our faucets. I suggested that a whole-house filter might resolve the residue problem and he agreed. He took the needed information and left to order the necessary parts. Last week he called to schedule the work, and gave me a price, which was agreeable. Yesterday he arrived very punctually and did a great job of installing everything. As always, he was courteous, friendly, and professional.

On time, quality work, price was right, left the site clean. He also noticed and repaired a previously undetected cracked drain pipe and fix it while he as there.

We had Joe in a few weeks ago for a different issue -- our water heater was old and needed to be replaced. When he was here, he gave us some tips on the water softener, maintenance, and things to look out for. Last Friday, we called Joe as we noticed a loss in water pressure, We thought it was the inline filter, but being as we just moved into this home and the system was configured a little differently than what we've seen in the past, we wanted a professional to look at it the first time. He came out that very day and figured out that our water softener had gone bad. He gave us some very reasonable options, set things up so that we had water over the weekend, and then came back the following Monday to install the new water softening system, take care of the inline filter system, and fix a couple of additional minor things we asked him about while he was here. He again was timely, clean, professional, and very efficient, and I promise you won't find better pricing anywhere without sacrificing quality. We are grateful that we found him to help us with all our plumbing needs -- emergency and planned. I wouldn't think of going to anyone else and highly recommend him!

I can't speak highly enough about Joe Kerns and the service he provided. We just moved into our house 5 days earlier when we noticed issues with the water heater. I left a message for him after his voicemail said that he was on vacation and wouldn't be back until the next day. He called me that same evening to see if I still needed service and came out the next day to determine the issue and give an estimate. Due to the size of our water heater, it wasn't a stock item and had to be ordered. Joe came out on Saturday to install it, was professional, clean, and did a superb job! He also went through and fixed all the toilets which didn't flush properly, replacing chains, levers, and other miscellaneous parts as needed. The thing that makes Joe so admirable is his integrity -- he will NEVER try to oversell you anything (a previous estimate told us that all the inner workings of the toilets needed to be replaced, not just individual components), and his work is of the highest quality. He'll make sure the job is done right and at a reasonable price. When he gave us the final cost, we were surprised at how low it was (and even told him so). I don't have to doubt any suggestions that he gives us regarding a repair and what we need to do, and he always gives us options. I will use him for all my future plumbing needs and highly recommend him!

It went great. Joe is punctual and professional. He has a great attitude and works quickly and efficiently. I have used him before for a garbage disposal install and the fixing of another toilet. I'm so glad to finally find someone who is dependable (appropriate business name) and professional.

Joe provided excellent service. We had used him in the past for some plumbing needs in one of our bathrooms and were very impressed with his knowledge and service. We decided to use him again when our hot water tank had shown signs of needing to be replaced. He was prompt, very good about protecting the floor and cleaning up afterwards, and very efficient. He impressed us as someone who really knew his job and got right to the work. He was also very good about answering any questions we had, and instructing us on maintenance of the unit for the future.

They were excellent. They came out and listened to what we had to say and they were very engaged and concerned. It made us feeel comfortable having them in our home. They were also very thorough.

Joe was very polite and efficient. We had a problem with the Jacuzzi in a different bathroom and requested him to take a look at it and even though we had not contracted him for the same, he looked at it and fixed it, without any additional charge !

Shop vacced, used long screw driver, copper tubing, cable, shop vacced again; tested.

We're very pleased with the work done. It DID take longer than anticipated. The biggest problem was the weather, the contractor Joe worked with (see review for Felcyn Construction - same time frame, same job.) had a h*** of a time with the drywall finishing around the shower (the "mud" took forever to dry!) and I think there were some minor hardware changes which delayed the overall project. Joe had been called in a few weeks earlier to replace our home water pressure tank. At that time we consulted him about the bathroom remodel we wanted to do. Joe has a local contractor he likes to work with and that contractor (Scott Felcyn) wasn't available at first. As we called around for other contractors Scott, Joe's preferred partner, became available and Scott and Joe did the bathroom remodel. The work is great. Others than the minor delays in finishing the project the overall results are wonderful. We plan to have Joe back in to do other work. (Scott as well.)

Joe was professional from beginning till the end. I had several contractors doing various tasks for me (general contractor, electrician, plumber, mover, etc.) as I had just moved into a new home (first time home owner) that I had bought out of foreclosure, so I really didn't know what to expect. Joe was the most professional among them all, punctual and although the work wasn't cheap that needed to be done, I found the price to be fair and the quality and professionalism to be exceptional, this is in contrast to my general contractor. It was obvious Joe took pride in his work and was very quick and responsive. My only (selfish) hesitation in recommending him is that he might get so busy I won't be able to get him when/if anything happens when I need a plumber again! I had referred him to a couple coworkers/friends already in case they needed any plumbing work.

Joe called and said he was on his way and was there within a few minutes. He introduced himself and we went downstairs to view the broken pipe. He said it would be no problem and wouldn't take too long. Told me what he was going to do and then went about his work and in no time the job was done. He is very personable and a pleasure to talk to. I would highly recommend him to anyone and will definitely use him again{ but hopefully not because our basement flooded)

I have always been happy with the work that has been done. Drain clearing, water heater issues, faucet replacement.

Overall, we were very satisfied with our experience with Joe and would definitely recommend him to others.

This was our second project with Dependable Plumbing, and Joe was great to work with...very professional and easy to work with. He does a great job, and is very careful to protect and clean the work area.

They came out within time frame they said they would, they had very good suggestions, very polite and courteous. Did work in timely fashion. I had a very good experience. I would highly recommend.

He took the time to understand the mechanism since it is far different than what is available today. He adroitly solved my issue of limited hot water coming through the mixer. It was great to take a hot shower this morning. In a few months I'll be having him come to install a water softener. Fair, knowledgeable, honest, and a good problem solver!.

When I first called him about the water softener, he said he could come over and check to see if it could be repaired. I had never thought that was possible., so I was impressed that he considered this option. Alas, the water softener was too old and a replacement is imminent. I will certainly call on him to install the unit upon which we decide. He was friendly, informative, and I felt very honest. He arrived on time and I thought his charge was quite reasonable.

Joe had quoted $2,000 to install the high quality Sterling water softening system I wanted. Just as he was finishing the job, Joe noticed that the roughed-in copper plumbing line for the lawn irrigation service installed by my contractor was the wrong size. I had scheduled drywall installation the next morning and the plumbing had to be corrected before the sheetrock went up. Joe offered to go out and buy the supplies and correct the installation that same day! That avoided a great deal of expense and headaches for me. Joe also completed work on two other plumbing valves, flushed my water heater, and instructed me on how to operate and maintain my water softener. I expected the final bill to come in at $2,500 or more, and was shocked when he charged me only $2,150. He essentially charged me only for the original quoted cost of the water softener plus his out-of-pocket cost for the additional materials he needed to correct the irrigation system problem that he diagnosed and fixed on the spot. I'm not a plumber but I've done some copper soldering and I can appreciate a neatly done job. Joe's copper joints were all smooth and neat. I'm still amazed at how fast he was able to do the installation. Finally, he showed me how to insulate the pipes if I wanted, and he cleaned up the area before he left. I would have complete confidence in Joe to do any plumbing job.

There was a blizzard and we were coming from over an hour away to meet him. Because of the weather we were about 15-20 minutes late. I called him to tell him we were on his way and that the weather was bad; he was understanding and when we got there he was already in the driveway. He was so pleasant and so professional. He was very neat in his appearance. He got right to work and explained what he was doing. He cleaned up behind himself. He thanked us for the work. We thought the price was very reasonable. He is someone you want to do business with all the time. We will use him again in the future.
