Dependable Plumbing is great. Joe is responsive on the phone, clear and direct about the work that will need to be done, gives accurate time estimates, and is extremely organized. Joe shows up exactly on time and is professionally dressed, clean, and polite. He ensures that his workspace is properly protected and he has all the tools in place (he keeps a clean and safe workspace). Joe also does not mind when curious eyes are watching and will answer questions. His work is impeccable and he has little waste, so you are not getting charged for extra/unneeded parts. He has pride in his work and it shows. Also, his handwriting is impeccable so you can read the invoice.

My water bill was extremely high for several months but I hesitated to call a plumber because of cost....I tried to find the problem myself to save money but to no avail..........Joe Kerns (a very nice and polite young man) came to my home and diagnosed the problem in five minutes and fixed it within the hour..........his price was reasonable and would recommend his service to anyone.

Joe came in and assessed the existing plumbing and quickly found an area where he could place the new faucet. It went in quickly, as he came with the faucet and what ever else needed. The faucet looks and works well. She is pleasant, on time, and helpful. We will call him again with plumbing needs.

Needed new water heater, contacted Joe, discussed possible plans, arranged service. Joe was on time, knowledgeable, efficient and personable. Had everything he needed for installation. Installed new water heater, cleaned up nicely and removed old WH. Price was as agreed. Very pleased and recommend.

My husband initially installed new plumbing for my mother's new water softener and water filter, but there was a leak very close to the shut off valve. Joe completely saved the day! Because my husband had installed the new plumbing so close to the shut off, there was no room for error if his work could not be removed completely. Thankfully, this was not the case but Joe had a number of contingency plans ready if things didn't go smoothly. Joe was on time, courteous, and completely professional. He takes great pride in his work and I would recommend him for any plumbing need you might have.

We had Joe cut out and replace all our original supply piping in December 2012 and install a new water heater. We liked him and his work so much, we had him return in April 2014 to cut out and replace all our original waste piping. Then in June 2014, we decided to install a basement bathroom. As far as we were concerned, there's only one person to call for any of our plumbing needs -- Joe. He did a perfect job yet again, installing an ejector pump, relocating and installing a new pressure tank, relocating our laundry area from one side of the basement to the other (washer and gas dryer), and installing the new toilet and vanity for the new bathroom. First rate work, just as we have come to know and expect. Joe is a critical thinker, a thorough planner, and comes very well prepared. He's very thoughtful and takes great pride in the appearance of his work and the detail he puts into the work he does. He cleans up when he's done (he swept our basement floor!) and you'd never know he'd been there. Joe is always prompt, arriving on time (usually early). We almost hesitate to rave about him for fear he'll be too busy next time we need him. If you need any plumbing work done, this is your shop. And we wouldn't have found him if it hadn't been for Angie's List.

He performed all work in the time frame and estimate he had orignally given me. He was on time, professional, and courteous. He obviously cares about quality work, and being courteous and respectful. In my opinion, in this day and age, you don't find many people who are as conscientious about their work and their impact on their clients' lives/homes as is Mr. Kerns. Highly recommend.

This is our second experience with Dependable Plumbing and it was perfect, just like our first contact with him. This home is a home we only stay at normally a couple days a week and recently because of some health problems my wife has had we have not stayed more than once or twice a month. After not being there for a couple weeks I noticed the hot water really smelled bad (sulfer smell). I caller Joe and he said it was probably because the hot water tank needed draining. He said it was quite easy and told me how to do it myself. Before I had a chance to do it I had to have emergency surgery and wasn't allowed to lift more than 5 pounds. So I called Joe and said I needed him to do it. He came out, drained the tank, and checked the anode rod. The rod was in terrible shape so he cut it off and reinstalled the plug. Then he flushed the tank and the smell was much better. He told me it may have to be flushed again, but once I was feeling better I could do it myself. He could have told me I needed a new tank and I would have had him put one it. Joe is totally honest, low priced, and very knowledgeable and we will always have him as our plumber.

They were really good. They were professional, dependable, affordable and knew what the were doing. However they were a little bit late.

After noticing the hot water heater in my newly-purchased home started a slow leak, I started my research on Angie's List as well as online retailers for comparable equipment. I decided to contact Joe at Dependable Plumbing after reading his impressive reviews and am glad I did so. His communication was terrific from the start and his work this morning was outstanding as he removed the old heater carefully around a tight staircase and installed the new Rheem neatly and efficiently. He was also kind enough to give me a detailed tutorial on the water softener and even double-checked the new hot water heater before he left to confirm it was operating properly. He mentioned that he maintains detailed records of the equipment he installed in the event that warranty work is necessary which is very helpful. I've hired many plumbers in the past and Joe stands out well above the crowd.

Joe Kerns is the owner of Dependable Plumbing in Paw Paw and he was onsite for every aspect of the job. He left me his direct phone number so I could call him if needed. His plumbing work was first rate and his price was fair for the work done. We did have one small leak develop at one of his sweat joints. I called him right away and he was in Kalamazoo within 20 minutes. He fixed the leak immediately and there have been no problems since. I have recommended Dependable Plumbing to several people and will continue to do so.

I had him over to check out the water softener, and in doing a thorough check he discovered that the pressure tank was full of water (defective seal). Dealt with it quickly and economically. Extremely competent young man.

This is an inherited, second home, and we were unable to be there. Joe came to do an estimate at a time that was convenient for us, gave us an estimate on the spot, and completed the work with no direct involvement from us. Since we had essentially picked him off the internet with now references or background, this was a little bit of a leap of faith, but in every way he justified that leap. When the work was completed, he called and gave us detailed instructions on how to most efficiently make the iron removal system work, and when we went out to check on the work, everything worked like a charm.

I called this plumber but he informed me he did not come this far from Paw Paw. I was disappointed because he sounded like a very nice person and very professional. I would recommend him to others.

He isolated the problem and it was fixed

Joe showed up on time. I explained what I needed done (I had not mentioned the new kitchen sink and faucet when I made the appointment). He went right to work and did not take any breaks. Everything went very smoothly. The new fixtures look and work great. One thing he did that I've only seen one other person ever do is that he used a wet/dry vac to suck all the remaining water still in the toilet out after the final flush. Most repairmen leave the remaining water in the toilet and then it drips all over the floor when they are carrying it out of the house. Try pricing just the installation of a kitchen sink and faucet at Menard's or somewhere similar. You would pay close to what I paid for everything I had installed. I am totally satisfied with the work and would not hesitate to use Joe again. Joe is busy and you may have to wait a short time for an appointment. He thanked me for waiting and I mentioned that a saying I always liked is "The best repairmen are also the busiest." It was worth the wait.

When I first noticed my hot water heater was leaking I visited Menards, Home Depot, Sears and Lowes to inquire about a new one. After comparing the prices I decided to call Joe at Dependable Plumbing Services. I called on a Sunday and he returned my call first thing Monday Morning. After explaining to him what I needed he said he would check on the price with his supplier and call me right back. Within 5 minutes of our initial call he called me back and gave me a quote that was comparable to all the other stores that I had visited. The stores, however wanted to send someone to my home before they would give me an exact quote to assess what needed to be done. After reading all of the favorable reviews on Angie's List I decided to have Dependable Plumbing install my new hot water heater. We set up an appointment for the next day and Joe was right on time. He did a great job installing my new hot water heater and left everything very clean. He was nice and I would highly recommend him for any of you plumbing needs.

For over 10 years we routinely bought 5-gallon jugs of water from a local company, since we didn't like the taste of Kalamazoo water and were concerned about arsenic levels, which have been reported as only a little below the threshold for problematic. We decided we didn't want to give the local water company any more of our business. As for switching companies, there would still be the hassle involved in buying water by the jug. We'd been put off by the price of RO systems but had heard good things about them from several people. We were happy with Joe's previous work for us, so we asked Joe for an estimate. Joe's estimate came out to about half of what we thought it would cost to install a high-quality RO system. We scheduled the job several weeks in advance. Joe arrived on time, completed the job professionally, and explained how the system works and what to expect. We've been using it for approximately 5 weeks now and are happy with the taste of the water and the convenience of having the faucet at the sink, for drinking as well as for making coffee, etc. We estimate the project will pay for itself in two years, compared to our picking up 5-gallon jugs from the local water company.

I discovered that both master and guest bathroom overflow drain to tub drains were defective after nine years of use. There was no access to master bath water box area to replace the overflow drain. Joe cut a hole in the linen closet wall to gain access to the backside of the tub to replace a broken overflow pvc tube. Joe installed an access panel in the linen closet for future access to tub/shower water box. Joe also replaced the broken overflow drain in the guest bathroom. He cleaned both areas after performing his work. Cost to replace two-tub overflow drains and install one-access panel was very reasonable.

Joe was available within a week of when I called. He arrived early and got the job done in about 2 1/2 hours. His price was $400 cheaper than the first estimate I got. He cleaned up the area before he left. He was thorough with making sure everything was running well. He even looked up the age of my ancient water heater and recommended I watch carefully for leaking. I will definitely call Joe when that needs replacing!

I (homeowner) noticed a water leak on first floor ceiling drywall in dining room area which is directly underneath second floor guest bathroom. I contacted Dependable Plumbing (Joe) who had previously performed plumbing work at our home and were extremely satisfied with his work. Joe informed me and discussed all of the possible options of where the leak could be originating from. Joe informed that he would seek the least intrusive options of finding the leak first, in an attempt to minimize the existing damage to the first floor dining room ceiling drywall, Joe first removed shower/tub water control fixture in first attmept to find the leak. Unable to see a leak from within the tub/shower room area, Joe next had to go into the guest bedroom wall behind the shower/tub. There was no access panel. Joe informed me that he would have to cut a hole in the drywall, but would keep the hole small and install an access panel after completing work. Joe put down a drop cloth to catch all debris. There was no visible leak from the piping behind the shower/tub area. Joe installed the access panel in the guest bedroom and continued his effort to find the source of the water leak. The access panel Joe installed is aesthetical and non-intrusive and will allow for future access to the plumbing area of the guest tub/shower if needed. Joe ensure that dining room floor and furniture were was covered by a drop cloth to catch debris. Joe meticulously cut a small hole in the first floor dining room ceiling drywall and found the source of the water leak, a cracked PVC pipe apparently installed when the house was built 9 years ago that had not leaked until recently. Joe cut out the cracked PVC pipe and replaced with a new piece of PVC pipe. He then tested the newly repaired PVC pipe for leaks. With no further leaking, Joe cleaned up his work area in the dining room. Upon inquiry for a drywall repair person that he would recommend, Joe provided me a business card for drywall repair of the dining room ceiling.
