We are a full-service water treatment and purification company based out of Lansing, Michigan specializing in water softeners, reverse osmosis drinking water systems, iron and sulfur filters as well as whole house specialty filters. We offer sales, rentals, and service on all makes and models of water treatment and purification equipment. Salt and bottled water delivery available. We offer Free water testing and recommendations in 15 minutes or less without a sales pitch. With over 30 years of experience, 1st Choice Water Solutions has a variety of water treatment systems available and has been providing the very best water filtration solutions for families in West Michigan, Mid Michigan and Southeast Michigan.
"We are very pleased! Instead of listening to a hurry up and contract with us style, this small, family owned company listened to our needs and discussed their solutions. As luck would have it, we were able to schedule them in one day and now have a new system that eliminates most of the issues we experienced with our old, store bought unit. This system is much sturdier and is made with locally available parts as well. They had EVERYTHING they needed on their truck and even offered to upgrade ( at no charge!) our by-pass valve that was installed before we bought our house 40 years ago! They showed us how easy it is to run and maintain. A+"

M&S Wholesale Plumbing and Electrical. Free estimates available. Water heater installations and all plumbing same day service available.
"Very badly! Sean Maxa, owner of M&S Wholesale LLC took my money, $1,900 (provided by check), and did no work. He communicated with me via text message with excuses until Saturday 2/14/25. Now he doesn't respond to my texts, or answer my calls. His phone goes to voicemail and his mailbox is full. It then hangs up."

Plumbing Works will get your home or business back to 100% operational. We provide fair upfront pricing, free estimates and proposals, and our personal satisfaction guarantee for all of your plumbing needs. We provide competitive prices and excellent customer service. We’re also happy to help configure plumbing systems for your residential or light commercial projects. Rocky Staudinger, owner and full operator, has been plumbing for over 15 years now and truly enjoys working directly with his customers to listen to their needs and help solve all plumbing problems they may encounter, or help them build out new plumbing systems for projects both small and big. Plumbing Works LLC is fully licensed and insured.
"This is a follow up to my recent previous post. I should have included it was a Power Vent natural gas water replacement to explain the higher cost for the unit installation. The same make and comparable size model water heater at Lowes was priced over $1000. I had 3 plumbing companies quote on the work, which was done at no cost. Plumbing Works - Rocky was the lowest bidder. One local (to me) company quoted $2900. Another larger firm from Lansing quoted about $250 more than Rocky. Both of those companies were going to put in the make and model they represented versus the current one. One company, Meridian stated they would give me a quote but it would cost $$$ for just doing it, I declined to do that"

The license requirements for water softener installation depend on your location. Some municipalities require that the installer hold a plumbing license, some require a permit and an inspection, but no license for the installer, and some require a permit and a license for the installer. Regardless of the local laws in your area, it’s always a good idea to hire a licensed plumber or installer. These pros will install your system properly and have the experience to size the system appropriately. Use Angi’s state licensing tool to check your installer’s license status.
The cost to install a water softener system is $1,500 on average, ranging between $200 and $6,000. The labor for water softener work typically costs between $150 and $1,000, so you can add that to your equipment costs to get an accurate total. Your price will depend on many factors, including the following:
System capacity
Home size
Water hardness levels
Type of water softener
Presence of electricity in the installation area
Local permit costs
Water softeners are worth the money if you live in an area with hard water. Hard water is safe to drink, but it poses serious threats to your plumbing system. The minerals in hard water will gradually build up on the inside walls of your pipes, reducing water flow to your fixtures. The minerals can also gradually corrode your plumbing system, reduce its lifespan, and increase the risk of leaks. Hard water also makes soap and detergent less effective. Water softener systems can solve all these issues, making them a great investment.
It’s possible to install a water softener yourself, but we don’t recommend it. Water softeners require working with copper pipes and electrical wiring, neither are suitable tasks for most DIYers. Plus, working with water and electricity together is dangerous and could pose a risk to your safety. Water softeners also need to be calibrated so that they don’t make your water too soft, as soft water poses just as many risks as hard water. Overall, it’s well worth hiring a local water softener installer to place your water softener system.
Your water softener size is based on your total household water consumption. In most cases, you can assume the average household member will use around 75 gallons per day. Multiply that by the number of people in your home, then multiply by 10 (for the typical grains per gallon). You’ll get a number in grains that should help roughly size your water softener. However, it’s best to hire a professional to install your system and use more exact numbers, like your exact average water consumption per day and starting water hardness.
