CJW Chimney Sweeping & Restoration

Very well. Found that there were some issues with our gas fireplace set and CJW took care of it for us. We've never had work done before on a gas fireplace so we dont have much to compare it to. However, we feel it was done well and at a fair price. Would hire them again.

The best company. Ever. It started out as a simple clean and inspect. The pellet stove was here when we bought the house almost 2 years ago and the previous owners didn’t say anything about any problems. But when Eric Butts from CJW & Associates went to sweep the ductwork, it turned out that it wasn’t ducted properly at all. This was a huge fire hazard in an old log home! We had plenty of other home projects on the horizon so there wasn’t much wiggle room in the budget. Chuck Weber and Eric presented us with several options and were mindful of our budget. After they removed the old prefab fireplace and ductwork (all the way through the second-floor roof), we had a couple of tremendous storms. But the covering that Eric had installed held! We didn’t get a single drop of water. Ultimately, Erik and Devin rebuilt the entire fireplace area with new ductwork and a new highly-reinforced wall with beautiful hand laid dry stack ledgestone. Then they went a step above and beyond and helped hang a stunning slate wall fountain. The finished project looks like something right out of a design magazine. This is, by far, one of the best companies with which we have ever worked. Everyone with whom we interacted was friendly, professional, helpful, and creative. CJW & Associates turned what could have been a homeowner’s nightmare into an amazing reality.

Everything was explained before job started. Chimney was cleaned, inspected and pictures taken of repairs that should be done. Will definitely use CJW again for other projects on my list.

More time was spent on the chimney repair estimate by far compared to the time of the chimney sweep. The crew seemed to be focused on their sales pitch more than sweeping the chimney. $1,200 in repair write-up was given to me. Did not have the repairs to the chimney done.

We have two wood burning fireplaces. A crew of three showed up and did a thorough and great job of inspecting and cleaning both. A little pricey compared to our previous chimney sweep but we were happy with the job they did. No mess whatsoever!

It went well. I was very pleased with service, communication (called me back promptly to schedule and called to announce expected arrival time on the day of service) cleanliness and professionalism. Very polite, efficient and did a good job and they covered rugs in basement to keep them clean. Explained what they were doing and how dirty the flue had been. They did not try to sell other services or repairs. Would hire again. Thank you.

Outstanding job. Called the morning of the appointment to say they were running ahead of schedule and would arrive 30 minutes early if that was OK. They were very careful about protecting the rugs and floor from dirt and performed a thorough cleaning/inspection. Minor repair work was completed without needing a second visit, which was greatly appreciated. The only reason I gave them a "C" on price is they charged $60 to apply part of a $6 tube of heat resistant sealant. I'm not opposed to a company making a profit, but still... All in all, a pleasant experience and I'd hire again.

Said they would be at my house btween 1 and 4 pm on a Monday. Steve called and let me know when he was 30-35 minutes away. Arrived on time. Was courteous, polite and professional. Came in the back door because he asked for the shortest distance to the fireplace. Laid down drop cloths. Swept the chimney and explained to me he saw more soot than expected. We agreed that it was the lack of dry fire wood. Vacuumed up all the soot. Also shared with me about a crack in the firewall but that it did not require replacement at this time, but provided an estimate for when it does require replacement down the road. Explained to me about a lever on the left side of the fireplace used to draw in outside air. Climbed up a ladder and onto the roof to inspect the cap/vent on top of the chimney and said everything looked good. Price was higher than I paid for service in the past through another company. Did not clean the glass doors, but I did not clarify whether or not that was part of the service.

Really happy with the service. Eric did a thorough clean of the flue, talked me through the inspection findings and potential issues with the chimney. Will use them again in future.

I explained this above. The person was nice, but I don't trust the idea of having bricks taken off my chimney and replaced. I feel my leak problem can be solved in a better manner.

It went well and I will use them again. However, I met them at the Home Show in Novi then discovered they were on Angies list so I used them. I didn't get any other estimates which is so unlike me - I always get at least 2/3 estimates but I didn't so I don't know if the price was good, bad or great but the work was great! Chuck, the owner, always returned my calls and answered any questions I had.

Excellent services. Professional and perfect installation, and work. The crews were prompt, courteous, and cleaned up after themselves. Very happy with the results, and no more worrying about the chimneys.

I am very happy with it. They have a really nice web page, it shows actually how they do it with a machine and everything. They are very impressive. I would give them a very good grade. Responsiveness has been fine. I?ve only talked to them twice. I?ve had no problems contacting them. They did a good job, I?m happy. They knew it a lot better than the other guys. I liked the guys. They had the highest estimate, but I went with them anyway, because looked like they were the professionals and they knew what they were doing.

Though more was was needed after inspection (inspection was 10 years overdue so that was to be expected), the staff was helpful, friendly and went out of their way to quickly remedy the problems. Very good experience.

Dr. Flue was very responsive and professional. They kept us well informed about the details of the work required and the process for repairing our chimney. They quickly provided us with the paperwork we needed to pursue home owner's insurance coverage. They were punctual, careful, pleasant, left our home looking the same as when they arrived and I'd recommend them "in a minute."
