Perkins Custom Remodeling

We've used Ted in the past for our kitchen remodel. He is a general contractor which is nice, he can help with most things. He is very nice, very professional, and we will continue to use him.

Simply put -dealing with Ted Perkins is a pleasure. His firm did two small jobs for us, much smaller than his typical major remodel. Nonetheless, he treated us as if we were a big customer. Timely quote, accurate understanding of the problems involved and very good solutions. His crew arrived on time, did professional work, cleaned up after themselves, were pleasant and courteous to deal with. Hanging the screen door install was more of a challenge than you might think. We wanted it at a particular angle to connect with the corner of the house and an existing deck beam. The carpenters built models and moved things around until they got something they liked, asked for my approval, then finished the job to perfection. We couldn't be more pleased with the results.

The overall experience was great. Good quality, very responsive, reasonable cost. The only complaint was that some of the sub contractors were not as punctual as Ted was. Would definitely use Perkins for a project in the future.

In over a period of about 3 weeks Perkins Custom Remodeling gutted the old bathroom and disposed of all old fixtures. It was then totally retiled and new fixtures were installed. New storage cabinets were built into the wall. We love the new bathroom! The tile work is beautiful, the cabinets are a wonderful addition for storage. The corner toilet and pedestal sink allow for much more room. Ted went the extra mile to be sure that we were happy and the work was done to our satisfaction. His staff in general were professional and courteous. Communication was good all along the way. We are so happy with our new bathroom! We would recommend Perkins to anyone considering any remodeling projects in their home.

We are very pleased with Ted's work. He is a consummate professional in his approach to quality workmanship and his attention to detail. He was very helpful in helping us to decide on various details of the project and he was always interested in attaining our full satisfaction. We would definitely use his services and expertise again.

I contacted Perkins to receive a quote for remodeling our kitchen & setup an appointment. Tom was a little late due to traffic and called to apologize and keep us informed - he had to get cleaned up from crawling around in an attic from their current job. Tom was very knowledgeable and obviously very comfortable talking about what options we had for our kitchen, as he, personally, has done the work before (a breath of fresh air after dealing the the 'sales' end of from other companies). He took measurements, looked in cabinets, and looked downstairs at plumbing to get a picture of what would be involved. A week later he provided a quote with a list of 7 or so itemized expenses involved in the project.

Ted and his two sons are very professional and nice guys to work with. Very thorough and were careful to clean up after work each day to to try to minimize dust, as I am allergic to it. Ted has a good "eye" for design and we trust his opinions. His contract service people, electrical/plumbing/tile were also first rate. They were also willing to do some minor odd jobs in the house during the construction of the bathroom. They are starting a second bathroom remodel in 10 days. His final price came in close to his original estimate except for some additional costs due to changes and add-ons that we chose to have done during construction. I plan to use Ted for my future house projects as we are extremely satisfied with his work.

They started with demo on July 29th and finished September 27th. They were within 5% of bid, with excellent quality of work and consistent on checking during the entire job on our satisfaction level. The crews were courteous (his sons) and worked with our schedules. The job took a little longer than we originally thought, however the end product is spectacular. EVERYONE who sees it loves the change, the look and the quality of the workmanship. The workmanship on the walls is excellent and smooth, one reason i mention this is because we are using one wall as a theater wall. With that said had the electrician put outlet in the ceiling for theater room also installed new breaker for two new computer stations in the space (I work out of my home). The painter brought a decorator with him to select flooring and wall colors--we love the way it turned out and the flooring products are perfect. So much so you would not believe this is a basement! I had also requested a waiver of lien which he provided within a week after my final payment for all sub-contrators he used on the job.

The inside garage cement steps from our house were difficult to use when going into/from the garage. Ted designed and built wooden steps with railings that are deeper/wider (and an additional step) which made it easier to access the garage from the house. Also, he re-fitted the cabinet over our new refrigerator (the refrigerator was higher than the listed specifications) so that it now fits under the overhead cabinet. In addition, he finished the dry wall behind the refrigerator Both of these projects were done on time and within the estimate. We wanted to have these projects done professionally . . . and that is exactly what we got.

Great! Ted is very professional and pleasant to do business with. We were pleased with every sub-contractor that was brought in on the job. When we look at our bathroom, we love everything about it. Wouldn't change a thing.

The project went well and I am very happy with the completed work. Ted was good at checking in while work was being done and to be sure all was progressing to my satisfaction. Everyone was very respectful and I was able to work from home while the remodeling was being done. The crew was really patient with our dog, who tends to bark every time someone comes in and out of our home. I do recommend Perkins Remodeling to others and plan to use their services again in the future.

It went very well and was completed in the time frame given us. Ted Perkins had a good grasp of what we wanted done and always communicated very well with us whenever questions arose. He went out of his way to make sure the work was done just as we wanted. The quality of the work was excellent and he used quality materials throughout. With major renovation going on in the bathroom he was careful to minimize dust and dirt by covering floors and furniture and cleaning up frequently. He always kept us informed about what he was working on, when things would be done, and who would be here and when. When a problem arose he dealt with it immediately: A slightly leaky drainpipe was taken care of quickly. Ted and his crew were friendly, trustworthy and easy to work with, as well as considerate of us and our home. We opted to do the painting ourselves and he was helpful in answering questions about the best way to do that - he even did some of the prep for that and even showed me how some calking was done and with what product. He takes pride in his work and has high standards for his crew. He wants his customers to be pleased with his work. We now have a lovely bathroom! Thank you, Ted & Crew!

We were very pleased with the work completed by Perkins Custom Remodeling. We would re-use them for future projects and recommend them to others. Ted Perkins, the owner, is very competent, friendly and accommodating. He is very reliable and is an excellent communicator. Ted would always let us know when he, his sons or subcontractors would be at our house and kept us informed about what work would be completed when. Also, if we had a question or an issue he would always work to resolve it to our satisfaction. We found Ted and his crew to be trustworthy and very respectful of us and our home. They were very neat and always swept and cleaned up at the end of each workday. We learned about our contractor from Angie's List reviews. We made our contractor decision based on those positive reviews and our meetings with and estimate from Ted Perkins. Our new bathrooms turned out great and we are very glad we had Perkins Custom Remodeling do the job.

OOPS! SEE ABOVE.....I'm not good at following directions.

Had used Mr. Perkins in the past and was very satisfied with his service. I called him when I was having the exterior of my house painted and we found that a piece of siding was cracked and needed to be replaced. I call Mr. Perkins. He responded quickly and professionally. As I noted above, Ted did the necessary measurements, bought the replacement lumber, and installed the siding. He also patched a hole in the garage that was proving to be an entrance and exit for squirrels that live in trees near our house. I'll use him again if I need a handyman or carpentry work.

On day of appointment, he was to arrive at 8:30 am. At 9 am I called and he said he had not checked his calendar and could possible come later. By that time my husband had already missed 2 1/2 hours of work . He rescheduled for Sat and was on timethat day. He seemed knowledgeable and said he would get us an estimate in a week. I called 10 days later to check on the estimate and he did not have it but would call me later in the day. He called back within a half hour and said he would not be able to do our addition as he had taken on larger projects and would not have the time. He did admit that he was sorry and he knows he should have called sooner to let us know when he took on the other work.

We immediately felt very comfortably with Ted Perkins when he initially came over to discuss our remodel plans. We had talked to someone before Ted who didn't want to take the job because we were going to do a lot of the work ourselves and only needed someone to do the things we were not qualified or comfortable enough to do ourselves. Ted and his son Justin were fantastic to work with. Not only did they do the work detailed above flawlessly but also coordinated plumbing and drywall help for us. They also helped us when we got stuck on some installation problems with our Ikea kitchen. Overall, they were just indispensable to our remodel project. And always friendly and professional. The final job was the deck. We gave Ted some specific criteria we wanted in a deck, such as bench seating instead of railing, deep steps, etc, etc. Well, the deck just turned out beautiful and exactly what we wanted. Can't say enough good things about Perkins Custom Remodeling. This is a Class Act.

The entire project was completed in five weeks and it turned out absolutely beautiful. Ted is an amazing general contractor and employs people who are craftsmen and gentlemen. From the first time I contacted Ted to discuss the possibility of doing our kitchen renovation until the project was complete, he communicated with me regarding every step and kept me informed on exactly what was going to happen on a daily basis. Ted's son, Justin, did most of the finish work and everyone who sees our kitchen is impressed what how beautiful the wainscoting and trim turned out. Justin is a perfectionist, and it shows in every bit of the work that he completes. Justin also let me know who was going to be working in the house and when and he arrived each day when he said that he would or called to let me know if he was going to be late. The electrician, Greg, and the tiler, Kevin, were terrific and went to great lengths to make sure that we were happy with what they did. I believe that the sub contractors that Ted used are a direct reflection of his high expectations and determination to have happy clients and a completed project that everyone can be proud of. I could go on about Ted and his son and our gorgeous new kitchen but will just add one more thing: Ted and Justin are not only fine craftsmen, they are creative individuals as well. Their input into design decisions was invaluable and the kitchen truly was a collaboration of ideas. I should also add that Ted is patient and a great listener (I may have become uptight a time or two) and did everything possible to make the remodeling experience a good one for us. He also treated everyone who worked on our kitchen with kindness and respect. We wouldn't consider contacting anyone other than Ted Perkins to have remodeling projects done in our home.

Everything went very well with them. They did great work. The work was done on time and to my level of expectation, and at a great price. I am thinking of using him again for a full-room remodeling.

The job as been 100%, A-1. It is very nice. I have recommended him to several people. I really like him and he has done a very, very good job. He is very clean, professional, accommodating, and friendly. He wasn't the the most or least expensive but I got what I paid for. I would use this provider again.

The project went very well. The house was built in the early 1900s so there were some surprises related to electrical work - we had to regroup with ideas and Ted took it all in stride. I really appreciate his calm demeanor, as I am never calm during remodeling! The project ended on schedule and were very happy with the results. We're already planning our next kitchen project with Ted. I highly recommend him!
