I replaced a bathroom fan that also required replacing part of the vent duct work. This left a couple good sized holes in the ceiling. I thought it best to get a professional to repair drywall ceiling and I would paint it myself. I called Mr. Handyman and a person came out and patched up the ceiling, but the results were very poor. I called Mr. Handyman and sent them pictures of the poor work quality and they sent another person to correct the problem. The second person was very good and the end result was that the drywall damage was undetectable. The follow-up repair was at no charge. While the first person did poor work, Mr. Handyman corrected the problem. I consider myself pretty handy, but there are some jobs where experience is worth the cost of "education", like drywall work. I almost lowered the quality grade, but the end result was very good quality, so I will grade on that.

1st - I thought we would have to replace both ceiling fans. Handyman found a loose frame on one and vcleaned then lubricated the second one. That saved me money. He couldn't find any reason for the roof ice. There was no insulation issues anywhere in the attic. We believe now it may be an Un-Insulated furnace vent that runs right a long where the ice forms on the outside of the house. Handyman was knowledgeable and didn't waste any time. Job was done quickly.
Description of Work: Worked on Bathroom ceiling fans (2) Both were making noise. Checked for source of roof ice issue.

Bob did a nice job. He was a little slow in his work, but I didn't mind since it looked like he was taking great care in what he was doing. With it being an hourly rate however, there was some minor concern. However, he knocked several hours off of the bill due to it taking a little longer than he had communicated. I appreciated that. I would use Mr Handyman again.
Description of Work: Bob removed the downstairs patio door and replaced the framing due to excessive termite damage. He had to put in temporary supports since it was load bearing points he had to remove and replace. After re-framing he put the door back in, put the siding back on and sealed up around the outside.

everything went great from the time I called Mr handyman to completion. Dan S was punctual, professional, and cleaned up after each visit. the work he did was awesome. I will be doing the painting myself. everything is sanded smooth and ready for me. The service was great. They did everything we needed. They did a wonderful job.
Description of Work: We had a fairly large hole in the drywall that needed repairing and vinyl tiles that needed to be re-adhered to the floor. We also had a door that wasn’t functioning properly which they fixed.

I had an ice dam leak that Mr. Handyman fixed. The drywall repair was great including the texture even though I was warned that this might not match. They did great carpentry work with the soffit repairs and were within budget. In addition to this repair, the technician found the issue with a bathroom exhaust vent and repaired this too. I like how they kept me informed and gave me the options before doing everything. I had them back to work on my gutters.
Description of Work: Repaired damage from ice dams. Including leaks, soffit work, drywall repair and gutters. Also fixed exhaust vent in bathroom.

I was in need of a new handyman and they were referred to me. Last Friday I called them and they said they could come out on Wednesday to perform the job. The primary reason I needed work done was for my roof and I needed it to be completed before it rained. On Monday they called to confirm my appointment. They called me Tuesday and said they were not going to make it, they would come out on Wednesday. On Wednesday they called again to say they weren't going to make it and said to plan for Thursday. When they got to my house it was down pouring. They had to wait awhile to do the work but they finally got the job done. I then called to get my bill and I asked for an itemized receipt for parts and labor. They refused to give me an itemized list. They didn't understand why I needed to know about the cost of each individual material. I then paid the bill and was told they would try to get me an itemized receipt by Monday. I would not recommend this company based upon them being dishonest with me. The guy who performed the work was good and it seems to have been done correctly but I still feel the owners are dishonest.

Our customers receive a copy their work order which includes a list of materials used at the end of their job. This customer was not present when the technician left the job site. We told the customer that we would mail his copy as soon as the technician came to the office which was the next business day. We did not leave paperwork at the site because it was not the customer's residence. We are pleased that the technician was able to provide solutions to the to the property owner 's needs at well below the estimated costs. Please read our other excellent reviews.

Ron, the handyman, arrived on time, worked quickly, and did a great job. I did not expect him to have time to check my toilets, which all had very minor but annoying issues, but he took the time to look at and fix them all in addition to changing out a light switch. He did a great job on all jobs. The main job, the re-caulked tub looks great and is holding up very well months later.

Dan did an excellent job for us. When we realized the leak was more than what we originally thought, he just tucked in and took care of the problem. He took the extra step of sealing the subfloor before he put down the new plywood and then he sealed the plywood so if the toilet should leak again, we won't have to replace it all again. He suggested a way to save a few dollars on the installation of the vinyl flooring and did an excellent job installing the baseboards. I will be asking Mr. Handyman, and hopefully Dan, to come back and do a couple of other projects in our home by the end of the year. I highly recommend Mr. Handyman and won't hesitate to call them again.
Description of Work: Replaced plywood flooring and installed vinyl floor and baseboards in bathroom. Replaced toilets in both bathrooms.

We called the service center and an appointment was set-up for the following day. The handyman actually arrived early but he called ahead to make sure it was OK with us. He cleaned the gutters our 2-story house. It took him less than an hour (only one gutter was actually blocked by pine needles).

The job went just great. Ron (the technician) was right on time, well prepared and extremely personable. I felt very comfortable with him working around the house and would recommend him highly. He represented Mr. Handyman in a very professional manner and completed the work just as needed. Ron also made sure that each task passed my approval before he moved to the next task. I would use Mr. Handyman and Ron specifically for our next handyman need.

They were overpriced of what they did. They did not do very much for me, but they got the ice removed, so, that was what I needed. I just thought a $176 was a little pricy for doing at the house for about 45 minutes.
Description of Work: I had a leaking skylight. They came out, coined up on the roof, took a look, and discovered there was an ice that was packing and melting water up into the skylight and that is why it was leaking. So, they just cleared the snow off the roof.

I emailed a detailed description of the work I needed to be completed well in advance, so they knew what the work would entail. The worker took an hour to go pick up the lumber needed to repair the bay window. He then attempted to cut the piece of tile for the bathroom. He did not have the correct saw with him and broke several tiles trying to use the wrong saw. He then decided to take the tile to his home and cut it on the correct saw. He returned 40 minutes later. Once he returned, the total time to place the tile and cover the opening under the bay window was less than 45 minutes. I was charged for the entire time he spent from start to finish even though it took a lot of extra time due to not having the correct tools to do the job. After the worker left, I discovered that he had damaged my bathroom wall where he removed the baseboard to get the tile out. It was not visible when I looked at the tile before the worker left because I would have had to walk on the tile to see the side of the wall. The worker did not repair the damage, nor inform me that it occurred (the wall was gouged and scraped up). I have contacted the business and hope they will repair the damage, at the least. If they repair the damage and adjust the bill for the wasted time, I will re-review them with a more positive description. I do have a recommendation to the company that if they came ahead of time to see what needed to be done and came to do the job with the correct tools and supplies, the whole process would be much more efficient. I am updating this review. The business returned promptly and repaired the damaged wall. The owner agreed that the amount charged for the work was excessive and refunded a substantial amount within a few days. I was satisfied with the repair and the refund. The owner did everything he could to make sure my experience was a positive one.

It was a job that required more than a couple days, due to the nature of the leak and the necessary repairs needed. All-together it was about a two week process. Although the employee was highly qualified and did excellent work, we have no complaints there at all, the way Mr. Handyman bills daily tripled our budget for the project. Since there was mold involved and we have young children in the home, it was one of those repairs that just had to get taken care of once it was started. However, in the future I will seek out any other company/individual other than Mr. Handyman simply because they bill daily; which means every trip a technician makes to your home is charged a $44 service fee, $138 for the first hour, and $68 for each additional hour. Also, they provide a 10% off coupon on Angie's list, which they did eventually honor, however they did not give me the discount until I had paid every other bill in full. As a business owner myself, I do not think it is fair to bill customers daily and expect payment before a technician leaves, but not give the coupon discount daily. Although I understand the business model of Mr. Handyman, there should be some discretion and common sense involved when it comes to longer project pricing. Overall our experience was great workmanship by the technician as well as friendly office staff and such, but they are not economical at all.

We present our invoicing process before we book projects and before the technician begins the work. Our billing process is designed to ensure that a client is aware of how they are working within their budget as they decide to make changes to the materials and project scope. In this case, we were happy that we were able to help you address your mold concerns. In regards to your claims about our service fees, we charged you a total of 2 service fees on 13 visits by our technician. As with most service companies, these fees are designed to help offset fuel charges and we believe that we were more than fair with these charges on your project as we tried to work within your planned budget. Once again, we are very disappointed in your review since we were in contact with you regularly during your project and were unable to address these issues as they arose. We are happy that our technician proved that we have highly qualified professional employees.

They were great, every person I worked with was friendly and responsive. I called on Monday with my problem (talked to one of the owners) they responded with a verbal quote within an hour and were at my house the very next morning. The service tech was great - very friendly, knowledgeable and he cleaned up very well when he was done. I will definitely use them again!

The satellite dish removal went well so far no issues. I had tried to explain to the handyman that it was not possible to vent the fan to the outside from the eaves but he tried anyway. He ended up cutting a hole in my soffit and then breaking a hole in my bathroom wall. He apologized for this and fixed a portion of it. But then said that he needed to come back again and it would be an additional charge to repair the damage that he did and that the office would call to schedule another time. I waited and they never called so I called them. I was so upset that the owner of the company came out. He did apologize for the poor response and for the damage that was done. I was not charged for the repairs but I will not use this company again.

Unfortunately, this service call did present us with some challenges which we believed we had fully resolved to the customer’s satisfaction. On May 15th our technician, John, attempted to vent the bathroom fan to the outside. He examined the layout in the attic and determined the distance to the gable end of the house was quite far from the bathroom. He discussed this with the homeowner and expressed his concerns that venting moist air over such a distance is not ideal. He felt that he should install a soffit vent close to the bathroom. The customer allowed him to proceed, but as she told me later, she indicated her doubts to him; however, in conversations with me, John claimed that she did not voice her concerns about a soffit vent until after the incident. In fact, John did run into problems above the bathroom wall. During the process, part of the bathroom’s interior wall below was damaged. John apologized to the customer and told her that he would repair it and that he would need to go purchase different materials to install the long vent to the gable wall. Since it was late in the day, John told the customer that he would like to return at another time. Since we schedule our technicians several days ahead, he could not promise to return immediately the next day. He told the customer that he would inform the office of this situation and we would schedule his return visit. The very next morning, the customer called our office. I was the person who answered the phone. The customer told me that she was particularly angry with us because I had not called her (it was 9am). As I told her at that time, I was not aware of the incident because John was on his first service call and had not yet talked to me. I apologized and told her that John and I would make arrangements to meet her the very next day. After speaking with John, I learned that he had collected payment for his time and material costs during the first visit. He told me that he had indicated to the customer that there would be additional material charges for venting to the gable. We returned on May 17th at 8am. I asked this customer several times what I could do to make things right. She seemed satisfied that we would repair the damage and finish the job. She noted that at all times, John had been polite and professional. I told the customer that we would not charge her anything for our second visit including the extra materials. John replaced the soffit where he’d cut the vent hole, and he patched the damage on the bathroom wall. The customer paid for three hours of work and the materials used on May 15th, and she was not charged for the three and a half hours of labor and materials used on May 17th. She told me that this arrangement was satisfactory and thanked me for meeting with her. Although, I did apologize for not contacting this customer immediately the next morning, I do not feel that this represented “poor response time.” Of course I am disappointed that this customer is still unhappy. She left me with the impression that she was happy after our second visit, despite the initial problems. I believe that we gave the customer numerous opportunities to tell us what would make her happy and we did everything that we could do to correct the mistakes that we made.
