Jacobson Heating & Cooling

This was just an annual checkup on a 2 year old furnace & humidifier that Jacobson had previously installed. Andrew arrived during the agreed upon service window. He was very professional and engaging, and clearly took pride in his work. I asked him to replace both the furnace and humidifier filters and let him go to work. We reviewed the condition of the furnace (which was good), and he said that he'd recommend leaving the humidifier filter in for another 1-2 years, and explained to me how to check the condition, which was a nice learning (and cost saving). He also noticed some rust in the duct work, likely from a leak that the previous owner had. Nothing to be overly concerned about, but he suggested that I keep an eye on it. Overall, he was very engaging, cared about his work, worked fast and was easy to talk to. I've never had a bad experience with Jacobson. They have great prices and service. Highly recommended!

They are very good. They forgot to do something for me, and I called them a year later, and told them that I just noticed this, and they came right back out and fixed it. I had shopped around, and they had the best deal. I went to 5 different people, and they gave me the best product at the best cost. I thought they were upfront, honest, they gave me the product that they said they were going to give me. Once we had signed the contract, they put in the furnace and air within a couple of days.

I have been using their service for a long time. I was unhappy with the last technician but overall I have been happy with their representatives. I would use them again because I have always been happy with them but would request not to have the one technician. I would highly recommend them.

Great, read reviews and found most confidence with these guys. Tech arrived, answered all q's and walked thru what he found. He also took time to look at my ac unit outside and fireplace. Never attempted to up-sell or pressure. Would definitely use again and recommend.

Jeff Vanderson was excellent. I called really early one morning (about 7am) because our furnace was out (and I had a terrible experience with Vredevoogd's) and Jeff answered. He booked an appointment with me for that day. He was very professional, friendly and went out of his way to provide excellent customer service. I got three other quotes from other providers and Jacobson's was the best deal overall.

Dan is the man! Jacobson Heating and Cooling is honest, trustworthy, and very fair with their pricing! I made the mistake of calling another company first. My furnace was trying to start when the A/C was on. I told them to clean it. After they cleaned it they suggested a $150 switch replacement and said it would just not turn on one day. Know a litlle about electricla that sounded like a high price. After the other company cleaned it, I came home with the fan rattling on the cage and now it would not shut off. Not only did the other company misdiagnose my problem TWICE, they charged me another dispatch fee when they had to come back anyway to adjust the fan from rattling against the housing after they tore it apart. They told me that my circuit board was bad twice and was the cause for both issues and it would cost $600 for a new one. Wrong! Jacobsons to the rescue! I called Jacobson and asked them to replace my board. Jacobson's price was $250 compared to $600 for the same part. Dan asked if he could diagnose it first and I agreed. He strongly felt that the thermostat wiring was the issue. I agreed to the installation of a new wire. After a labor intensive wire replacement, THAT, my friend was the first problem! My second problem was that, after the cleaning, the contact switch in the A/C unit was so old it welded itself together and made the compressor run continuously. The other company said again it was the board. Dan replaced that too for $50. My bill TOTAL bill was half the cost of the other company's misdiagnosed part. Can you imagine the other company charging me for a new board, AND, and new wire, and a new switch??? That bill would have probably been over $1000. Thank you very much Dan and Jacobsons!

Jacobson replaced our furnace with an Amana high efficiency furnace. Tom came out to give the estimate, explained all our options and was not pushy at all. The installers were quick and professional. No problems since.

This company is so professional. Their quote for our new air conditioning unit was prompt & reasonable. The two other companies we spoke with did not return our calls promptly. Before we hired Jacobson, I had many questions so I researched on line but also the people @ Jacobson were very patient and educational. The job was done within 1 week of hiring them and they were on time, efficient and neat. We are very pleased with the new system.

Initial phone contact was pleasant and professional. Service technician arrived promptly and was polite, courteous, and professional. Problem with furnace was quickly diagnosed and resolved. Technician recommended careful furnace evaluation before next Fall to avoid potential costly repairs in future. The cost of this visit was very reasonable. We will absolutely call Jacobson Heating and Cooling again to request heating and cooling services. They deserve an A+ and were extremely well represented by their technician, Dick Stanton. We will also refer them to friends and neighbors who are in need of heating/cooling services.

they were to install a new furnace and air that i could expand to a fourth zone however when it came time to do so we found out that they never did that and the thermostats were all inferior

Called and scheduled four contractors for free estimates. Jacobson's man was on time, polite, friendly and professional. There were no pressure tactics attempted, nor were there any sales tricks and the product was clearly explained. If I were rating the other sales rep.'s I could not say the same. I explained to each rep. that I was collecting bids and would be in touch if I accepted their bid. Jacobson was not the low bid. Arranged an install date with Jacobson and a date in between for the tin knocker to come in and take measurements. He was polite, did his work, answered my questions and was gone in about 30 min. Installers arrived on time on the scheduled date. Both were polite and professional. The stairway and walkway to the exterior was completely covered with drop cloths before work was started. They worked quickly and more quietly than I had expected. When they were finished in the basement, there was no sign that they had been there, other than a new furnace had been installed. Worth noting: An unexpected situation did come up on the roof of the house. Our new high efficiency unit does not require a roof vent or chimney. The existing chimney was in poor repair and as we were having the house re-shingled at this same time, had arranged to have the roofing contractor remove the chimney to just below the roof line. We had elected to not have a power vent installed for the water heater and so still needed the B vent that Jacobson's was to install. The problem was that the roof contractor was not prepared to frame the top of the chimney to receive the stack and B vent. Jacobson's stepped up; within minutes they had a man on site with lumber, nails and saw. The framing was completed and stack installed in short order. A short while later a four man from Jacobson's fine tuned the furnace. This was one of, if not the best experience, we have had with any contractor. Highly recommended.

Crew should up as scheduled. Did a good job of what was needed. Duct work and the vent on the roof look very well done. I will wait to see if heavy rains bring any water down the sides of the ducts into my kitchen.

The service technician was prompt (my given window was 9-11 and he was here at 8:50 am:). He was friendly and competent and found the problem quickly (it was a broken compressor on the outside) and fixed it/replaced it all within 30 minutes. He also did a yearly furnace check. He gave me a ton of advice on how to make my heating and cooling more efficient. This was great since often service providers simply do the work and collect the fee without much feedback. I appreciated this technicians friendly demeanor and obvious knowledge. I will use the company in the future for all my heating and cooling needs!

The appointment time was 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. and he showed up at 12:30 p.m.! I was thrilled that he showed up early. The first 30 minutes is included in the trip charge and he fixed the A/C in under 20 minutes! He showed up on time (early even!), he was very professional and the A/C now works! The price was less than we expected, but it was an easy fix.

Called Jacobson to service poorly running ac unit which was 17 years old. Technician arrived on time as promised. Unit need to be repaced, current system was not to code, received quote 2 days later. New system installed 3 days. Crew was prompt and very professional. In a little over 3 hours new system was up and running.

As fate would have it, we had hired Jacobsons to replace our furnace, A/C system and water heater on Wednesday of last week. Our water heater decided that it couldn't wait, and dumped water in the basement on Saturday the 9th of February. I called Jacobsons on Saturday to see if they could change the installation date. The response was quick and he suggested that I call the office on Monday to see if they could help. I called on Monday morning at 8 am and Jeff Vanderson not only changed the date to Monday the 11th of February, but he personally picked up the furnace and delivered it to our home before the crew arrived to do the installation. The guys did a great job and finished in near record time so we had hot water by the next morning! They'll be back this Spring to finish the A/C installation.

I called mid-August, and the estimator was very accommodating, coming out on the one day and time I could take off work. He took the time to give me the information I needed to make an informed decision, in such a way that it did not push me toward one option over another. Once the appointment was set, the installers showed up on the agreed upon time. None of this "between 8am and noon" and show at 3:00 garbage. They finished quicker than anticipated, and kept me informed throughout the process. After finishing, the calibrator showed up within an hour. He found a small problem that was inadvertently overlooked, but was unable to fix it. An installer had to come back out - right person and tools for the job. From there, the situation got a bit weird. There was a wiring issue between the furnace and the air conditioner. It took several trips to diagnose, which was no fault of Jacobson staff. I point the finger back to the former owner of my home, comically a city building inspector, who jerry-rigged a solution behind a wall, which was not easily found. The tech was the same guy each trip out. Very nice, as he knew the situation, knew where to continue, and took charge in resolving it. Even with the multiple trips, and weird situation, it was a very positive experience. I would recommend Jacobson to anyone.

Tom Vanderson inspected the house and put together a quote list containing several options which could address my needs depending on how much I wanted to spend or how efficient I wanted the systems to be. He was very informative which made the decision process easy. The installation crew showed up a few days later. They were prompt and the whole installation process was very well coordinated and executed. The electrician showed up as the installers were completing their tasks to finalize the job. Workers were there most of the day. One of the installers reviewed the routine maintenance schedule and procedures with me. The workers cleaned up, couldn't even tell they had been there. The only small issue I had was that the old fuse box for the airconditioner located on the outside of the house was in pretty rough shape and they didn't replace it as part of the deal. I spoke to the electrician about it who said he'd talk to Tom but I never heard back. I did contact Tom and asked him to consider it but again never heard back. In all fairness it wasn't on the spec sheet for the work to be performed. I think it was an oversite though and given the amount of money I spent it could have been replaced. Bottom line though, I'd definitely use Jacobson again and recommend them to others. UPDATE: Received follow-up call from Tom. They will be out tomorrow to replace the fuse box at no cost to me. I offered to pay part of it but he said that wouldn't be necessary. What more could you ask for from a contractor? All A's.

Tony arrived on time and was personable and professional. I had lots of questions as a first-time homeowner, and he answered them all with patience. I will be calling Jacobson again.

The Jacobson estimate was $200 less than their competitors, with a 10 year warranty (with cash), and could be installed 4 days earlier. The installers arrived on time, and were professional. The replacement airconditioner is more efficient than the original unit, and quieter. We wished we had went to Jacobsons right from the start.

The work was completed satisfactorily. The technicians at first thought the compressor might be at fault, but fortunately that was not the case. They also suspected a Freon leak but could not find a leak and could not explain (or did not) the loss of Freon over the past years.
