Pretty good - Steven let me know when he was on his way, was on time. He then proceeded to check both the AC unit and the blower motor in the centralized furnace it ties into. We then discussed some potential future issues that may occur in the future and what to check for and the signs.

He came out on short notice to figure out what the problem was and very quickly repaired a blocked drain line for the AC and checked the system for any other problems. Answered all my questions about the system, which was greatly appreciated.

Every thing went great! Steve was a pleasure to do business with. He responded quickly, he was professional and very detailed in his work.

I purchased an older home last fall with an A/C and furnace that are 25 years old. I wanted someone I could trust to come look at the system and give me advice regarding repair/replacement. I'd read good reviews about Grand Blanc Mechanical on Angie's list, so called them first. Steven called me back quickly and came out within a couple of days. He was honest and fair regarding the 1990 Lenox furnace, which showed signs of rust and likely had cracks in the heating element. Rather than charge me for a tune up, he recommended that I just let it be until I could afford a new furnace in the fall. Similarly with the Air Conditioner - he cleaned it and took pressure measurements (which were good) and recommended that I look at replacing it in the fall. I appreciated his honesty and felt he was very professional.

The Central Air was not working properly when I called Grand Blanc Mechanical. Steve was very prompt in arriving following my call and was able to quickly diagnose the problem. The system has a leak and the freon was so low it appeared to be empty when it was checked. Because of the age of my current HVAC unit, Steve offered three options: Option one was to refill the system and hope for the place the inducer motor with a new unit. Option two was to replace the inducer motor with a used unit. He had one in excellent condition in stock from a previous job. Option three was to replace the entire furnace. Steve presented all the prices, and from there, we decided on option two. Our furnace is 13 years old and a used unit suited our furnace well. Steve completed the job in good time, our A/C worked like a charm, and we were happy with the result. We also liked that Steve was meticulous in his workmanship. In the future, we will not hesitate to call Grand Blanc Mechanical with any of our HVAC issues.

Excellent! Our furnace went out when it was -10 degrees out. He was at our house within 20 minutes and fixed our furnace for only the base fee. We will definitely call him again with any future issues.

Steve was great. I never felt for a moment that he was trying to take advantage of a bad situtuation. He was very patient and answered all of my questions in a very direct and honest manner. He was extremely professional in all aspects of the installation and even advised that I was spending too much money on furnace filters! I would not hesitate to call on Steve again or to recommend him to others with heating/cooling needs.

Our AC unit went out. We called several places, and they all suggested that we replace the unit. Then, we called Steve. He said he knew what was wrong and that he could fix it. He came out the same day and worked on it for a short time until it was fixed. He warned us that the fix would not last forever, but that he thought it would get us through the summer, and it did. He was professional, courteous, and prompt. I'm RARELY satisfied with service done to our home. In this case, Steve did exactly what he said he would do, exactly when he said he would do it. He also went above and beyond what was asked and helped us think about ways to maximize our energy efficiency. I asked him about redoing some of our duct work, as a previous HVAC worker had suggested it was the only way to improve the air temperature on the second floor (and would cost thousands). Steve told us it would be a waste of money. It's so nice to have service done by someone so honest and trustworthy. I cannot say how much I appreciate Steve's help and willingness to accommodate us promptly on a very hot day. UPDATE 8/6/2014: Even though Steve warned us that his fix is not permanent and may only last a couple of weeks, our AC is still working over a year later. Thank you so much Steve!

Called and got a quick appointment. He came out and looked at our furnace unit, gave us his straight up opinion and suggessted what we should do. He did not pressure us at all. Very honest

I'm so grateful the first company didn't follow through or I would never have found Steve and would have had a central AC unit that was twice as big as I could use! Steve was at my house 24 hours after my first call, arrived exactly on time, and spent about an hour going through the house to determine the right AC unit. It had to be smaller than the square footage would indicate because of the inadequate and lack of cold air returns in the 2nd story and remodeled garage. Steve took the time to explain what I could expect from AC under those circumstances. I had my estimate emailed to me by that evening and Steve called to go over it with me. Because of his patience and explanations, I went with the most expensive furnace (a modulating Luxaire) which sounds perfect for the off-again-on-again weather we get. There was no delay in getting the equipment and installation went exactly as Steve predicted--two days from 9am-2pm. He worked alone and left the basement cleaner than he found it. In spite of all the equipment being moved in and out, there was no sign of it inside or outside the house. After the electrician had finished the new circuit board and wiring, Steve came back to hook everything up and check that all equipment was running perfectly. He even had to repair some damage chipmunks had done to the AC insulation hose and recommended an ethical deterrent. I only wish all my friends needed their heating/cooling replaced so they could have such a pleasant experience too.

Everything went great. Steve was at our place in less than 10 minutes. (don't expect that kind of response time every time! He may be fast but I happened to catch him at a good time!) He quickly diagnosed the problem, had the parts with him that he needed, and even corrected a mistake that the original installer made. He was done in less than 15 minutes. Seemed a bit pricey, but then again I don't know the cost of the parts and we got our air running again. We're happy. Would use Steve again.

We are very pleased with the work that was performed - actually, with the entire experience. Steve was the first contractor to respond to my call. He called me back within an hour or so. He was very accommodating about arranging times to meet, as we were not living in the home where the work was done. He took the time to put down cardboard and tarps so that mud would not be tracked into the house. He was punctual, professional, knowledgeable. We will definitely call Grand Blanc Mechanical/Steve for any future needs, and would absolutely recommend him to others.

I emailed Steven about my central air not working like it should and arranged a time that was convenient for me. He looked at the unit and was able to quickly figure out the problem. He had a replacement part on hand and within 10 minutes, my air was back on working like it should. He recommended replacing the unit within a year due to it's age. I plan on giving him a call when I am ready.

They had the lowest price of all the places I tried. They were very professional. The workmen wore booties to keep dust and dirt out. They were fast. They were efficient and courteous.

I was very worried lest it would have to be completely replaced before I could be ready for it, and replacing the ancient AC would also mean replacing the furnace because the elderly furnace is not compatible with new ACs (I've checked on this before.) Major worry. He was able to find a flaw in the mechanism that sends power/on-off info to the compressor unit and replace it, then checked out the rest of the system, said it did not need additional coolant, another $ break. He was working outside in sweltering weather and mosquitos and inside with the building packed with multiple households' stored throughout the house & basement, a giant headache, but was unfailingly good-humored and courteous. As a person with marked breathing problems, having the house quickly fill with cool dehumidified air as he left was an indescribable relief.

I called Steve and told him that my central air unit wasn't working, that the fan was locked up and the unit itself was making a very loud hissing noise. Steve said that if the fan failed and the unit continued to run, a line might have blown off letting out the refrigerant. He did say that he'd be happy to check out the unit for a diagnostic fee or come by and give me a free quote on a new unit. I opted for a free quote because I thought for sure the unit was toast. It had run almost all night with no fan and I figured for sure it was no good by the sound it was making and the fact that the fan wasn't turning. Long story short--I agreed to have Steve put in a new unit. He came to get started on it and noticed that the fan turned freely when he moved it by hand. Then he hooked his gauges up and discovered that the system still had a full charge. With his experience, he then knew that the capacitor controlling the unit was probably bad. He had a new one with him and installed it. Much to our surprise, the unit worked perfectly. Had Steve not taken a few extra steps and also been as honest as he is, he could've easily taken me for $3,200!. Thankfully, Steve is a good and honest guy and was only going to charge me $180. For his time, trouble, and honesty, I threw him a $120 tip. Very thankful not to have to pay 3,000! I wanted to show him that honesty pays and that I truly appreciate what he did. If you don't hire him for all of your HVAC needs, your really rolling the dice. I will not hesitate to call him again and would recommend him to everyone I know. What more can I say.
