United is extremely professional, honest and responsive. Its personnel arrived on time properly prepared all the areas for their work so that the dust will be contained. Their work had a lot of attention to detail so that it looked as if the problem never existed. Once done they cleaned up everything including mopping the place. Our neighbor's tree fell on our house while we were away on vacation. The folks at United were great and worked with our insurance company to facilitate the rebuild. There was no structural damage, but the siding on two sides of the house needed to be replaced as well as the front half of our roof. When they came out to do the estimate, United made the house weathertight and covered the holes in our roof. After waiting for the insurance company, United came out right away and were done so quickly, I barely even saw them. The work they did was great. A lesser contractor probably would have only replaced the damaged siding, and not done a complete tear-off of the roof. United did a great job matching the color of the siding on the rest of the house, so it doesn't look like a patchy job. I would recommend them for any general contractor work.

United was reasonably priced, easy to work with, great on communication, and paid attention to detail. They made sure the job was done right down to the last detail and were responsive to our desires and concerns. Overall a great experience and we will hope to work with them again.

The service man arrived and fixed the light the same day that I called.

They nailed it, both literally and figuratively. They were punctual coming out to give us a quote, which was second-lowest of three but close enough to the lowest that we went with United, given their reviews. We were having family in town for Thanksgiving, so we needed the job done by the Wednesday before. They scheduled us, but then something else opened up and they actually got it done a week plus before hand. The two workers were professional, courteous, and on-time. The job looked great and they cleaned up when done. Also, we have a lot of woodwork around our staircase and there was a funky part where some judge's paneling met the crown and the workers came up with a creative and appropriate solution. Overall, a bang up job. Within the next year or so, we're looking at framing out a bathroom on our first floor, and we'll definitely give United a call for a quote and use them if they are in the same ballpark as our other quotes.

Very pleased with the work that was done.

We had noticed water dripping from the basement ceiling and traced the pipes to the toilet on the second floor. The plumber fixed the valve and directed us to work with a construction company to repair the damage that would have occurred in the wall in the kitchen and/or dining room. (see above)

They were thorough and they were on time. There was nothing that I didn't like, I just thought that their quote was a little high. Yes, I would consider using them in the future.

The workers showed up on time, they were very efficient, neat and cleaned up their mess. I was surprised at how well and quickly they were able to do the job when everybody else that came out told me what a big deal it was going to be. These people were very experienced and knew what and how to do things. They didn't even take time for lunch. They said they would rather just get the job done, which they did, earlier than planned, cleanned up, showed me everything they did and explained it to me, asked me if I was satisfied, if I needed anything else, gave me the bill, I paid it, and they left.

I have laminate floor in a room, that was damaged by a drill that came from outside. So the guys moved large furniture and unsnapped floor panels. and replaced panel and molding . by the way those boards can be very stubborn to snap and unsnap.thank you very much!

UNITED BUILDING SERVICE Company came to my home to give me an estimate on the cost to remove and install wallpaper. The guy was on time he looked the job over and told me that someone else would be doing the job. He said that he would call with the total cost of the job.But he never did. I would have preferred that if the job was to small for his company that he would have been up front with us and told us this.

They were prompt and thorough. The price was good.

They seem to be honest and up front. There were no surprises. The cost ended up being a little bit less in the end than expected.

They showed up on time for the estimate, send me mail reply for a break down of 99% of what I asked for. I agreed with the estimate and the job was completed with the agreed upon time. I did miss one item not included in the contract so we added it later with reasonable cost. Very professional, replied to all my phone messages within a reasonable time and impressed with cleanup after.

Contractor came out unannounced once to get estimate (only one to do this out of 5 contractors I called). While the estimate was slightly higher than another contractor, I went with United Building Service because of their past history and extra effort to come out without me asking for it. They also came out again to firm up measurements prior to ordering materials. My wife was very happy with the rep Ian who did the work. Great quality of work while being courteous, professional, and quick. They even did the work prior to cashing in my deposit! Definitely recommend.

Found the company on Angies List and set up an appointment for an estimate. They provided competitive pricing, though not the lowest. They were able to do all the jobs in the difficult time table we requested (approx. 2 weeks.) We liked they the company was able to manage all the jobs, rather than dealing with several different contractors. We were not in the home when the work was done and Tom, our main contact sent us photos by e-mail of work done and reported on progress. Our neighbors emphasized that the workers were very polite and conscientious in their work and even returned one night to be sure the roof was appropriately covered with a tarp during a rain storm. One more note, I recently called to report that squirrels may be getting in the roof to find out what I needed to do to stop that. Tom send a crew to instill mesh to prevent the squirrels' entry at no additional charge - more 3 months after the job was completed. We are very pleased with their service and will call on them again for upcoming renovation projects we are planning.

I called them. They came out the same day and fixed the problem. I don’t remember the price I paid them, but it was reasonable. I liked the care they took in doing their work and it was quality work. The workers were excellent. I would definitely use their services in the future too.

They started out great by even showing up 30 minutes earlier than they had to. They looked the job over, explained to me what they were going to do and what the possibilities of failure were. They then started the work and worked straight through without taking breaks, other than for water. Because of their diligence, they finished early. They then even did some extra siding fixes on my house and garage that weren't in the bid, and they did it for free. They did a wonderful job and were very pleasant. By looking at my garage from the outside, you would never know it was hit now. It was a great experience, and I would have never called them if it weren't for Angie's List. I am very happy I joined. Being a single woman, I was afraid to trust anyone after my insurance experiences, but now I see I can trust the companies from Angie's List.

The owners came in and measured, figured out an estimate, wrote it up for the insurance company, sent it in. I had very little to do but talk briefly with the adjuster. The workers were polite, friendly, neat and clean. The owners dropped by periodically to check on everything. It was an excellent experience. I highly recommend.

We discovered the water on Monday morning and called the insurance company. Tom Holland called immediately and came to the house to inspect it that afternoon to evaluate for the source of the damage. The next morning he removed the ceiling and wall in the first floor closet to reveal the leaking drainage pipe. The evaluation and diagnosis of where the water was coming from was not an easy job as this is a 55 year old home and easy access to this pipe had been obliterated through previous home repairs and improvements. Tom handled all the contacts with the insurance adjustor, plumber, mold remediation, asbestos removal and reconstruction with no hassle on our part. All of the subcontractors were friendly, knowlegable and professional. The two people who did the actual reconstruction of the basement and first floor closet, Eric and Jeff, ended up spending the most time here, and were very easy to have around. We felt confident in them and felt we could leave the house even when they were working. They cleaned up each day before leaving, and kept us informed about what they were doing at all times. Overall we were very well satisfied with the work done.

They basically spent the summer with me and they wouldn't have been with me that long if they hadn't been good. They were very efficient and they did what they said they were going to do. They were on time, which was important to me. They would consult with me and I was able to see how the projects were coming. When they were at certain points they would ask if I wanted to make any changes and I liked that. I changed to recessed lights in the ceiling in my bathroom. They gave me feedback and told me how it was going. I did get another estimate for the porch. They came back and gave me an estimate for thousands and thousands of dollars less. My neighbors complimented me and my friend knew what they were doing and said they were doing a good job. They do not accept credit but that was fine with me. I am going to use them in the spring to do my kitchen. They were really good and when there was a problem they came back and fixed it. I did leave them in the house when I had to go out. I really liked the way they handled their business. They were professional. I would recommend them and use them again. It is a family owned business.
