Cregger Plumbing, Heating & Cooling

I wanted to update my review and rating of Cregger after the company owner, Derek, called me this morning and personally apologized about my situation. He explained the problems about late night boiler problems (e.g, boilers are difficult, they are training new boiler techs, etc.), and I understand his situation. But the plumber on call still needs to call the customer back, stating that he is unable to do the job, so that the customer can make alternate arrangements when they have no heat. Cregger really showed professionalism and good customer service in this situation, and I appreciate that. I always use Cregger for my plumbing needs and so do my parents. I have a boiler with hot water, baseboard heat. Around 11 p.m. last night, the heat went out. I called Cregger's emergency line. First, I waited 45 minutes - no response. Called back and was told my the representative that alert the on-call plumber of the emergency. No response again after 15 minutes. Finally I had to call a competitor to get the heat back on around 3 a.m. Cregger called me the next morning - I spoke with Rebecca who I have talked to before and she is always very polite and professional. When I told her I was really upset no one called back, she told me that Cregger does not have a boiler tech on call for nighttime emergencies. That is fine - I get it that boilers are complicated. But still the nighttime, emergency plumber should have given me a call so that I could have made alternative plans rather than sitting in a freezing house. I will still use Cregger in the future, but I wanted the owners to know that they need a better plan for boiler emergencies.

I then called Cregger Plumbing for emergency service after another company ?Drain King? botched a job. The clean out trap in my downstairs bathroom was cross threaded by Drain Kink and they would not return to fix the issue Although that cost me extra, I needed service that night so I was glad the service was available even if it was extra. He came out, saw the problem and was able to correct the issue quickly. He had to carefully clean the cross threaded pipe and cover, and then seal it. He then wrapped the thread with pipe sealer and he threaded it in. I will call them again. I have several other jobs I will have done, now that I have found an honest plumber.

The schedule and the actual work went smoothly. Even it took some extra work, they charged fairly. The service person, Paul, was patient and helpful. This is the second time I used Cregger, and I liked them both times.

After this review was posted, they sent a supervisor out to correct the problem.

There was an Angie's List deal for $160 for a main sewer line cleaning. Upon inspection, we were told this didn't even need to be done, even though another Angie's List plumber told us it did, which is why we were getting it done. However, Creggar plumbing kept the whole amount claiming it was to cover the cost of the use of the camera. That wasn't the deal and there was no fine print indicating otherwise. After some back and forth with the owner, he agreed to refund me half, but only refunded me half of what he received after Angie's List takes a cut, which was less than 1/3 of the original amount. Angie's List was also horrible at helping me resolve the issue. They repeatedly kept trying to close the case saying I wasn't responding to them which were lies. I was calling and emailing on an almost daily basis. It wasn't until I threatened with making a credit card dispute that things started to be resolved. Also, the toilet was not fixed correctly. I had to have ANOTHER plumber come out and fix it because as he said "the wrong parts were put on, making the toilet run after each flush". This whole thing cost me more than it should and was a huge waste of time and energy. Angie's List told me they do not hold providers accountable, all they do is facilitate a site for people to share experiences. Apparently providers have to pay Angie's List thousands of dollars and not all customers leave reviews so you really can't get a good idea of how reputable or reliable a provider is.

We were getting ready to sell our condo so we were trying to get everything fixed as cheaply as possible so the inspection would go well. The serviceman was supposed to come in the early afternoon so I took the day off so I could be there when they got their. The company called around when my appointment was and wanted to cancel the appointment, I don't remember the excuse given. I told them that I took the day off and expected the service to be performed that day. The woman apologized and said she would see if another serviceman could come out. She called me back and said she would send another serviceman out that evening. He arrived that evening and wasn't very helpful. He said it would be cheaper if we purchased the new faucet and garbage disposal and have him come back and install it. My husband ended up installing these on his own so we can't assess the actual work performed, but we were not very impressed with this company from our experience.

We were satisfied. It was fine. They gave us a quote for something else, which seemed a little bit higher. They were very responsive and very nice. I just thought the price was high compared to what we've had done in the past with other companies.

Christmas Eve morning. Noticed water in basement. Sump pump not working. Searched Angie's List for plumbers with "Big Deals". Found Creggers Plumbing. Called them and they came out same day (12/24/2015) for "Emergency" fee of $165 on top of parts and labor. Was told AFTER they got here that they would NOT honor Big Deal coupon for $320 because "fine print" states work must be performed "during regular business hours". Emergency Service negates regular business hours, despite the fact that they are open 24 hours!!! Creggers is price gauging new sump pump and charging us $470 instead of $320! That's a $150 difference from their Big Deal coupon. Plus $165 for "Emergency Service". We just got screwed over! NOT HAPPY! Merry effing Christmas! p.s. Technician seemed okay.

It seems like everything is fixed properly now. But it took four trips. They didn't charge anything for this visit. They could have taken care of it in fewer trips. I did find them on Angie's List and used the coupon. Even with the coupon, they were somewhat pricey, considering they couldn't it to work on the first or second trip. So, to me, they were not reasonable. Yesterday's visit was because they couldn't get it right the first time.

Excellent: Jason found the leak, repaired the leak, cleaned up everything,was on time, pleasant, courteous and professional.

It went very well. The owner is the best I give an "A"

I live in a wooded subdivision and my sewer line runs through a wooded protected wetland. Because of this, tree roots clog up my sewer line and every year I have to have it cleaned out. Keith B was the service person who did the job. He was very pleasant to work with. He laid down tarp to protect my carpeted floor and after he finished he cleaned up very well. I was very satisfied with him and would recommend Cregger to anyone who has a plumbing issue. The price was reasonable considering the fact that my line runs almost 100 feet. I bought one of Creggers coupon deals so my final cost was only $206.00. Great personnel, great service!

It was pretty good. They came and snaked it and then they did the camera the next day and told me they needed to snake it again. If they came out with the camera the first day and put a camera down there, they would not have had to come back out. That was kind of stupid.

I did one thing wrong. What I did not like was that they charge so much money just to install a dishwasher, but I think it was because I had the $59 for the service call plus $105 credit. Because of the $105 credit, he charged close to $300. He charged me like an additional $300 to install, just to install a dishwasher. It was way, way, way too much and the company that I bought it from, they were going to install it but said that there was a little drip and we only paid $99 dollars for that, so I was really taken a back by it. So, I paid the additional $300 plus the $59 for the cost. I would not use them again for that reason. I had $105 credit, so in other words if I didn't have a credit, then it would have been like close to $500 to install a dishwasher. It took him like all of the 20 minutes maybe. He did good work and he was quick but for the price, because of that I rate them down to a "B". He was actually late but I can understand that he got lost. He was very late, so it pushed my day bad. I was negligent probably because I was taken a back because of the time. I was getting a little stressed because I was late for another appointment, but I was negligent in asking for the price, but he should have told me the price when he came in as opposed to when he was all done with the work.

Went well. Took a bit longer than expected due to an unexpected complication. Otherwise, great.

Very well. We had a little trouble with scheduling but they stepped up and were able to accommodate our needs. Work was professional performed.

this was a great experience, I feel like now have a plumber I will use for all my future plumbing needs. Greg arrived as expected. went right to work, analyzed the problems, explained the solutions to me and then completed the work quickly and efficiently. I really appreciated that he double checked all the work thoroughly before leaving! Great service!

I had to get another company to redo the whole job.

This was a fantastic experience. The gentlemen completed this work for us was Charles and Brian. The work that they performed and parts used did was . In addition, the professionalism ad expertise with which Charles and Brian performed the work was superior. They used high quality parts. Charles and Brian were very efficient, and explained everything in a manner that I could fully understand. They cleaned up the site with care. This work was performed in February, and everything is working great. The area in which we live has a high water table, and an underground spring that runs close to our home. In other words, our sump pump gets a lot of work. Additionally, this area has frequent power outages. We now have a peace of mind that we will not have a flooded basement. I am happy to recommend Cregger - and Charles and Brian to anyone.

I had several services performed around the house. Mostly simple stuff but frankly, saved my back from having to crawl under the sinks and my time to do it myself (of course, nothing ever seems to go as easy as the professionals make it seem, so I choose to pay to have it done). The repairman who came to the house was not a licensed plumber, however, he was an apprentice, and frankly, given what I had to have done, I was completely comfortable with having him work through the issues. He took care of the leaks, found a few screws/nuts loose and tightened them, address some of the hardware items which over time shift and put everything back in its' place - especially under the sinks!! The work areas were cleaned of any debris and being particular about cleanup after the fact, this was important to me. He took the time to explain what he found and how he repaired it. He was he was here about two hours and the total cost was under $200 which I believe to be reasonable for the services rendered. If there was only one thing I was disappointed about it was the arrival time. I was advised it would be early afternoon, and after waiting three hours (more like mid-afternoon to me), I called and was told he was wrapping up another customer's home and would contact me shortly prior to arrival. I did not have to wait that long until I received a call, however, I did recommend to Holly who took my call that the company should at least make an effort to keep their customer's apprised in the event the schedule is running late. Simply a phone call helping to reset my expectation around timing would have been greatly appreciated. Regardless, I felt the company took care of me which is why I am giving them a high rating and recommending to others to give them a try.

Scheduling not clear for the day. Said they would call in morning to set up a time, but when I called I was told between 9 and 1pm. Then they tried to up sell the job from $265 to $500 to guarantee for 2 years. Technician was polite. Did not clean around the drain though.
