The whole experience was smooth and professional from start to finish. Everyone was so nice and helpful throughout the job. Communication at all stages was excellent with detailed estimates and invoices. The job started on time and finished earlier than anticipated, but without sacrificing quality and attention to detail. I was especially impressed by how careful and considerate the crew was. They cleaned up every day so that there was minimal disruption to my home. Every bit of debris was removed from the bathroom and the garage when the job finished. I will not hesitate to call on Husband For A Day for any future home repair/remodeling needs.

This was one of the best experiences we have been through in a long time. The entire staff was wonderful. The workmanship, craftsmanship attention to detail was outstanding. The owner, Dale, was very flexible to work with. The remodel team of Doug and Chris were polite, fun, and on time every day. Communication was easy. I would recommend these folks to anyone!

There were 2 people to complete the services. It was cleaner than it was before they got here. It took 2 hours to complete the work. They could work on responsiveness. Not necessarily from the carpenters or workers, but from the office personnel. Returning phone calls and stuff like that. I find it that its almost as important as getting the work done.

They were on time, professional, answered any questions, told me what they were doing and how they were going to do it. But the drawback was communication initially between the company and me. It took numerous phone calls that were not returned and emails not returned. They gave me an estimate on the work and then it was 3 or 4 weeks nothing, no phone calls or emails returned. Then all of a sudden they called me up. Not real, in my opinion, real professional. I have used them before and was quite satisfied with them. This time I had a long hour discussion with the owner on Wednesday. He dropped by about an hour after the carpenters showed up and we had about an hours talk about his office staff returning phone calls etc. I would use them again. They were polite, professional, courteous, kind, obedient, cheerful, thrifty, brave, clean and reverent. There were 2 plus the guys that came to do the carpeting, which were separate subcontractors and I am not even going to count them. It took them 2 days to complete the work.
Description of Work: They repaired my basement stairs and recarpeted them. Put down new flooring in the kitchen.

Dale came out and gave us an estimate a couple of years ago and as things go, we had to delay the project - replacing wood balusters with metal on a pretty big stairway, open hallway, and basement railing. Well, fast forward to the present. We had a bit of a price adjustment because of the time that passed, but nothing horrible. I would hire them again in a heartbeat. They showed up on time all three days of the job, treated my home with respect, cleaned up before they left every day, were kind and considerate and best of all took pride in their work and did a wonderful job! They will be my go to company for other projects we decide to tackle. In fact, I already recommended them to my neighbor.

Had appointment time for 4:00 pm. Dale called me at my home at 2:00 pm and said he was in the area could he come by. Unfortunately, I could not meet with him because I was 30 minutes away and watching my grandson at that time. He replied ok ill see you at our scheduled time. I was at the home at 4:00 and stayed until 5:30. NO Show for Dale and No CALL.... Thanks for being professional !!

We are very happy with our finished kitchen remodeling. They did exactly what we asked for, Dale the owner is easy to work with and his team was professional, reliable, competitive pricing, and completed the job within estimated time range. I love the way our kitchen turned out. They recommended excellent contractors for our cabinets and granite. When there were a few minor glitches, they were very responsive and came out right away to fix it. However overall, everything went smoothly. When we need another project we will definitely hire them.

The gentlemen who came do to the estimate was wonderful. There was some difficulty in getting my calls returned when I wanted to set up an appointment to get the work started, which was a little frustrating. The workman, Aaron, came out today and did a wonderful job. He took great pride in his work and I would have him come out again anytime. I do think that their method of responding to potential customers needs to be addressed. The work was done in a very professional manor and with great quality, but I think the office manager needs to do a better job in handling contact with customers. They would have lost my business had I not been persistent in getting in touch with them.
Description of Work: They stopped out to my house and gave an estimate to complete: 1. Replace a latch on my patio door. 2. Install safety grab bars in walk-in shower. 3. Small drywall repair in bedroom.

Had to wait a week and a half for an appointment to look at job and estimate. Appointment was at 5pm; a time they set - I am home all day so could have been earlier. No show. No call. When I tried to call no answer. Very irritating and unprofessional. My time is worth more than sitting around waiting.

I had a bad experience with this company. I have two-story, wooden porch columns. In the summer of 2015, one of the porch columns started to rot at the base, attracting carpenter ants. I had the ant problem treated by Maple Lane Pest Control (very good company, I recommend them), but I needed the damage repaired. I hired Husband For A Day to do the following: (1)I wanted all four porch columns inspected for water damage/rot; (2) Fix the damage/rot and replace with new composite wood and composite wood trim (like Trex or AZEK); (3) I also wanted someone to go around the house and caulk any holes or crevices in the aluminum siding where ants could get in per recommendation of the pest control company. Dale, the owner, came out to give me the estimate. The price was reasonable. I appreciated that the office had a full-time receptionist who always answered the phone and returned calls. My job was scheduled for the Thursday before Labor Day weekend 2015. The morning of the appointment, Shawn arrived on time (8:30-9 a.m.) and began the demo work. He was kind of rough and removed the decayed wood with the back of a hammer. He was banging so hard I could feel the vibrations in the house. Also, he was on the phone A LOT with personal calls. I asked Shawn if help was coming because this was a lot for one person. He said Aaron, the carpenter, would be here shortly. Aaron did not show up until 11 a.m. He started his work, and then at 12:30, the guys knocked on my door and said they were leaving for lunch. A whole 1.5 hours of work . . . During lunch, a really bad thunderstorm came out of no where. Everything was soaked, including the guys tools, which they left on my covered porch. I did try to cover their things with garbage bags, but it was windy. They were at lunch for 2 hours (ok, maybe they were waiting out the storm). Upon their return, Aaron told me they were done for the day because of the rain. I said "OK, see you tomorrow." Aaron said they could not come tomorrow. (Silly me, it was the Friday before Labor Day weekend!). I got on the phone with the receptionist, who did track down the owner, Dale. Dale said he would come out personally and finish the work on Sunday. Apparently Dale must have also called Shawn and Aaron because they hung around another hour prepping some of the other work on my list. I had personally spoken with Dale on Friday and told him I was not happy with the work. The guys had screwed around, they didn't do much, and the carpentry work Aaron did was pretty bad. The trim work was not straight. Some pieces had gaps, some pieces had overhanging edges. Dale discounted what I was telling him. Boy was he surprised on Sunday! Dale arrived Sunday morning on time. He wouldn't say it, but he was pretty surprised that the guys screwed up so bad. He actually re-did ALL of Aaron's work. And then he left, citing family commitments. (I don't blame him - it was Labor Day, but I did warn him how much there was to do). Dale's carpentry work was excellent - the columns looked really pretty. But, my husband and I ended up putting a second and third coat of paint on the carpentry work ourselves because Dale left. Tuesday after Labor Day, Shawn calls to come out and finish caulking up any gaps/crevices around the house and touching the caulk up with paint. I told Shawn I was out of paint (which I provided). I told him the brand, and asked him to pick up some more and bill me. Shawn arrives. He told me he purchased the paint in a "spray form" to make his job easier. (Stupid me - I believe him). Shawn gets on the ladder, and goes around the house. Outside my bedroom, I hear all this commotion, banging, and swearing. I assume he fell off the ladder or got stung by a bee. In reality, Shawn was going around the house on a ladder with spray paint - that's right, he used plain, old, hardware store spray paint on my white siding. He was swearing because instead of getting off the ladder and moving it, he was trying to "hop" the ladder from place-to-place (like a pogo stick). He ran into problems outside my bedroom, and he dented the aluminum, really badly, in several places. When my husband saw this a few days later, we contacted Dale. Dale apologized, and asked what we wanted. My husband said we wanted money off the job, and he sent pictures of the damage to Dale. The whole thing was handled poorly. Dale accused us of "intentionally" making some of the dents even after my husband explained what Shawn was doing, the spray paint, etc.. After a lot of back-and-forth, Dale agreed to refund us $100. It took three more phone calls to actually get the refund. I would not hire this company again. Shawn and Aaron did not do a good job. You can see that they spray paint doesn't match the house paint when the sun hits it. Dale's work was very good, but he handled the whole situation badly from not getting his workers out to complete the job in a timely fashion to accusing us of purposely damaging the house for a refund.
Description of Work: This is a review from Fall 2015. It seems like Angie's List has "lost" a lot this companies reviews including mine. I have contacted Customer Service, but I am rewriting this review so people know what they are buying. I hired Husband For A Day to repair rotting, wooden, porch columns. (Front porch, two stories).

I had contacted husband for a day for a simple kitchen Reno job. The next week when they were suppose to arrive they never showed up. So, I contacted them. They apologized and asked if they could send someone out later that day. I understand things happen so I agreed. Well, at 5 pm that day when they were suppose to arrive no one showed up. I left a voicemail (seeing how I had talked to their receptionist just hours before). I asked for the owner to contact me. No one ever called. I have never dealt with a company that is so unprofessional and unorganized. Do not use this company!

So glad I reached out to Husband For A Day (HFAD) to handle my project. I messaged HFAD via Angie's List and was contacted immediately. Dale came out a few days later to quote the project. I revised the scope of work a few times but Dale kept up with my various needs. The price was VERY reasonable and they scheduled me a week later. The gentlemen they sent was very courteous, clean and professional. He laid canvas drop cloth throughout my finished basement and removed shoes when venturing off the drop cloth path. He also laid drop cloths in the entire room he was working and closed the door to minimize dust. When he opened the wall to start the framing on both windows, he noticed an issue. He called Dale to see how to proceed and I could hear them talking... "Is the customer there?", "yes", "Then make things right with the customer.". That is the kind of service this company provides. I'm already quoting additional work and referring family to this company. Thank you Dale, Aaron and Andrea for a job well done!

Clearly they do great work based on their reviews. I got the sense they weren't that interested in the job and perhaps it wasn't the kind of work they prefer to do; they are too busy now that nicer weather is moving in; or what the reason was.
Description of Work: Received an initial quote via email which indicated materials included (4/3); upon asking questions, received a revised quote where materials were added (4/5); upon further questioning advised "there were a lot of things missed" and that a revised quote was attached but it was not (4/6). I wrote back (4/6) advising the quote wasn't attached and I haven't heard back.
