They were initially supposed to come at 9 a.m., but there was a terrible storm the night before and the boss didn't want them climbing on a wet roof for safety reasons. The boss said he would send them out at noon, instead. This was fine with us. They came around 1 p.m. so that the roof had some time to dry in the sun. I was about to call them since it was an hour after he said they'd be there, but I kept them longer than planned, so I understand how it is. They went up on the roof and replaced several shingles that were hanging off and damaged. They reattached the hanging gutter. Another gutter was graded the wrong way and full of debris, so they cleaned it and regraded it. They also took a look at something else for me. The whole job took about 2.5 hours. The guys were professional, polite, and did a great job. I would definitely use them again and already have another job for which I plan to use them.

They did the okay job and weren't so great getting back with. They were trying to talk us getting more things than necessary. There were some issues about getting back and getting the work done on time. We aren't disappointed nor are we overly happy either.

5/13/13 - Professor Selvig arrived promptly to prepare estimate. Friendly, courteous, & professional. 6/13/13 - returned to complete work order which he did in a professional & expeditious manner.

My overall experience with him was good! Actually, I like everything about him. The guy came right out, and told me everything that he needed to do. I called him to come back, and he came out. He was pleasant. He could do everything. If you need him for any kind of stuff, he is all around.

They were prompt in coming out for a quote, they were prompt when they showed up and let us know along the way what was going on, how long it would take and why, and cleaned up after themselves. Very courteous and fair pricing. We used them for a subsequent project also and got the same great result!

They were professional, knowledgeable, courteous, and friendly. We plan on using them for other work we want done including a complete remodel of our kitchen. We are pleased to work with them and to recommend them to others, especially when compared to some of the other builders and suppliers we've tried in the past. The only reason we marked a 'B' for quality was that some rough work needed to be moved or redone. But even then, they were pleasant and accommodating and the finished product was high quality. They aim to do a great job and to please the customer and they've succeeded.

Sent a team of workers in, They worked very well together and very friendly towards the family. They were great.

Submitted an estimate way above what I had budgeted for the job. I decided not to proceed with the project. Very professional, and very complete estimate.

They were very responsive. They returned my calls. They gave me an estimate within a week. They performed the work within a couple of weeks. The price was fair. They quality of the work is good. There is no negative so far that I can think of.

Dale was professional,courteous, and called when he was running behind.How often,does that happen. He repaired a section of fence and installed a much needed exterior outlet. Dale,thank you for your expertise and going the extra mile,literally,by walking round to the neighbor to fix the fence. I plan on using them again.

Rod coordinated the whole project and called me from time to time to give me updates or ask questions about the project. He was fairly priced and took a reasonably amount of time to finish the job.

Scheduled the work, was told the cost per hour. They re-confirmed before the appointed time. Did the work (beautifully), and cleaned up after! Super!

It turned out pretty good and we were happy with the work they did.

They also refinished two bedrooms, a hallway and stairs with hard wood flooring and pulled up carpeting. They painted two bedrooms.

Husband For a Day came out immediately to get me a quote of the work; I received the quote within a day. Initially they were going to come out a week later but then informed me that they had an opening a couple of days earlier, perfect! 2 guys came out right on time and got right to work installing the new shower faucet/handles/drain/recaulk. They had a little trouble with one of the existing pipes due to corrosion, but were very persistent in getting it fixed. I was kept informed of any issues they had during the entire process. They were at my home for about 5 hours between the shower and window jobs. The guys did a fantastic job installing the shower fixtures and the re-caulk looks great. The window issue was completed very quickly and is much more solid than the other windows. I am very pleased with the work that they performed and will definitely use them again for future projects.

I had called just under 2 weeks ago to see if they could re-grout my master bathroom floor. I had begun the project myself but couldn't finish because of neck issues. The salesman/estimator came out within a few days of my call and measured the floor. At that time I also asked if they could do the shower floor too. I had decided not to do the walls since they looked good. At no time did the representative pressure me into doing more than I wanted to do, so I felt very comfortable and agreed to their proposal. I thought the price given was very reasonable considering how nasty and annoying re-grouting can be. An appointment was scheduled for the following week. On installation day ( 4/23/13) Jim arrived about 10 minutes early and quickly got to work grinding out the old grout and the little bit I had done myself ( so the floor would match). When that was done, Matt came to help with the grout installation. They were using epoxy grout and explained that it had to be wiped and cleaned up right away because of how fast it sets. When they were done the floor looked great! Also you could not tell that any work had been done in that room because of how well they had cleaned up after themselves. I am really impressed by the service I received from Husband For A Day and well definitely call on them again for my next project(s). Everyone was nice, polite and efficient. They did exactly what was asked for and completed the job skillfully using quality materials. I could not ask for more.

The company called me back shortly after I left a message. They worked with me to schedule a mutually convenient time. Stan, the handyman, was punctual, pleasant and professional. He did very good work, was thorough, professional and neat as well as cleaned up after himself.

I selected HFAD for the work due to their cost estimates appeared to be reasonable and the good reviews they received on Angie's list. Although their cost was not the lowest among several bids I received, the detailed breakdown in the estimate demonstrate their thorough knowledge of what the job entails. The person, Dale, who came out to do the estimation, is very knowledgeable with his 30+ years experience as a builder and hands-on guy. They started the job as scheduled. Every morning the crew with their leader, Doug, came on time, worked steadily throughout the day and finished the day with all material/equipment tucked away neatly and floor swept. They also came up with great ideas of building a shower seat for my disable son as well as of a nice soap box on the wall. They did run into some problems in the midst of demolition but took responsibilities to fix their mistakes with no hesitation. When the 2 bathrooms were finished, we were very pleased with the outcome. We called them back for some other repair work since then and also recommended them to our neighbor and friends.

Best part of the whole experience...I didn't have to monitor him in the least. Told him what needed to be done and he did it! It helped that I had paint and grout available as neither he nor I had to make a trip to get anything. Husband for a Day is the first call I'll make when I need something done...big or small!

I called for an estimate and the person showed up on time on the day we scheduled. He spent time asking questions and measuring the spaces and deciding how to proceed. I received an estimate the next day. I called a day later to schedule work and luckily, they had an opening in a few days. Dale and his workmate showed up on time on the day we scheduled. They immediately got to work tearing out the ceilings in the two rooms. They moved furniture out of the room and around the room. They covered everything left in the rooms so they wouldn't get any debri on them. By the end of the first day, the floor was ripped out of the bathroom and subfloor and partial floor installed and the toilet reinstalled. I was very happy as I only have one bathroom. The ceilings were torned out and the drywall installed and taped. The second day, the installation of the bathroom floor was complete, the ceilings were painted with two coats, and everything was moved back into place. A fantastic job as usual!

They were very professional. The quote was very detailed and explained everything they were going to do. They showed up on time, were very respectful and cleaned up at the end of each day. The job was a complete success.

They were ridiculously quick on calling to schedule and got me in within two weeks. I would hire them again if needed no question.

Overall, they did fine. I have an old house in need of a few repairs. I gave them a call .They were very prompt in getting back with me and giving me an estimate. I thought the estimate was a little high after reading other reviews here on Angie's List but they were a local company and I prefer to use local businesses. We set up a date for them to come out. The date came and went. I called the office and Dave apologized saying there was a "miscommunication". We rescheduled for two weeks later. I was told the total job would take 3 days...it ended up taking 5. The first worker sent to do the gutters didn't like heights. He had to call in someone else to replace the attic vents and put on the dormer gutter. A different guy showed up to do the shower grouting(he did a fantastic job and was very quick). The front door, which I thought needed to be shimmed and moved over, was sealed with some weather stripping that took all of 20 minutes. All in all, they did a good job. I think I would hire them again.
