We enjoyed the knowledge we gained from the representative that came to our home for a quote. Weathergard came highly rated on Angies list and from a few friends. We were expecting the price to be higher from what we had heard. The price was more than 2K higher than wallside. The quality we felt was worth the price. The downside was a big downside. The salesman put a lot of pressure on us. It was very uncomfortable. This price included $1500 off that was only valid for today. If we didn't sign today we weren't getting the discount. There financing had high interest. He didn't want to take no. We wanted to let him know tomorrow. Apparently, being adults and wanting to think about it for a night to make a rational decision isn't ok. We don't like to be pressured or forced to make a decision. This is a large purchase. He ended up leaving in a rush and not being polite about it. And I forgot to mention he was at our house for over 2 HOURS! It was way to long and we were exhausted. In the end we decided to go with Wallside. The quality is less. We are only staying in our home a few more years. That complied with the lower cost, interest saved plus the extra $1500 we would have to pay for not buying same day with weathergard. Will save us almost $5000. If you plan on keeping your home for along period go with weathergard. Product is superior. If you aren't staying long I would go with wallside.

The only problem we had was that it took longer for them to make the doorwalls than expected. It pushed back our installation date a month. Other than that everything went very well and we are very happy with our doorwalls and window. We plan on purchasing more this fall.
Description of Work: WeatherGard replaced 5 sliding glass doors and 1 window in our house. They did it all in one day and they were very professional in their work.

The sales representative came out when he said he would. He went through the details of what the replacement windows would be made of, what it would cost, and when it would be done. He estimated the work would be done in about three weeks, and that's almost exactly when they came out to do it. On the day of installation, a huge crew came out. They finished what had to be a difficult installation IN ONE DAY. They cleaned up everything when they were finished. We have waited a year to rate them to see how the windows performed. The old windows were only ten years old, but air and even insects could get in with no trouble. Since then, the house has been MUCH tighter and more comfortable. We did a lot of research on the various window companies before we decided to go with WeatherGard, because it is difficult to evaluate companies based on their television ads. We checked Angie's List, the Better Business Bureau, and several other places, and decided that this was the company to go with. We are VERY happy we did!

My husband's name is not on the title to the property, and he is not a decision maker in this window purchase. I find it astounding that I was able to purchase this condo without my husband, but I am not able to purchase windows without my husband. This company's policy seems to penalize women and be in favor of divorce. If I were a divorced woman, presumably I would have received an estimate. At any rate, my marital status is my private business and does not have anything to do with my decision to purchase windows. Married couples do not need window companies to tell them how to make decisions. As it happens, my husband and I are happily married and recently celebrated our 30th anniversary. I would suggest this company revise their sales policies immediately.
Description of Work: I called and requested an in home estimate for replacement windows. When asked if there were any other decision makers in this purchase, I honestly answered no. When the salesman came to my property, he asked if I was married, and refused to give me an estimate because my husband was not present.

Wallside has a residential grade window, which is ok. We had 9 windows quoted and it would be 3500, this was during the buy one get 1 free sale. I think that Wallside basically has the same prices all the time and runs 'specials' to try to get more business, as all of the windows were written up with an 800-900 list price, but came down to around $4000 and ultimately another 10% discount for paying cash to 3600. The weatherguard salesman compared their product to wallside and seemed to know their pitch pretty well. He carried around a mockup of the wallside window and the weatherguard window. The weatherguard is a commercial grade and superior window, no doubt about it. It has thicker vinyl and a thicker cut of glass, which comes from Guardian. However, you do pay for the quality as their original quote was significantly more than wallside. Also, if any of the wood around the old window is rotted they will replace it all and put their window in. We got them down to around 5k in cash. Warranty coverage is comparable, the weatherguard is I think 5 years longer and is transferable to the next owner where the Wallside was not transferable. Both windows are made in Michigan factories, which was a consideration to us vs going to Lowes and getting a Pella. The installers were FANTASTIC, although they came in an unmarked pickup truck and a trailer. For 9 windows the guys took their time, came around 8:30am and were all cleaned up by 5:30. All the old windows and scrap were taken away, and they even recaulked one of the other windows I didn't replace for free. At the end they demonstrated how each of the windows worked, and explained we would have to paint the quarter round and underskirts white since their wood was unprimed. We had a follow up service call a few weeks later because a couple of the double hungs wouldn't stay up at the vent stop. 10 mins of adjusting and both were fixed, in and out. Very satisfied.
Description of Work: The house we recently bought is 25 years old and came with original windows. We called weathergard and wallside out for in home estimates. We bought 9 windows with marble sills, 5 double hung and 4 slider windows for bedrooms, dining room and kitchen.

Wish I would of check Angie's list on the feedback on this company. They did seem more concern with my martial status and that I was female versus asking for what I want. As they were able to come out within 48 hours to do an estimate, they left without giving me one., I wanted replacement doors only and they only offer new doors which would be more than any other quote that I have gotten. Very disappointed overall as I had communicated this on my call with the appt. setter.

1. The person who called to confirm my appointment the prior day seemed pre-occupied on the phone and was more concerned as to whether I was married or not. Not sure where they were going with this, I asked my brother to come over to be there as potential reinforcement on my decisions. 2. The gentlemen who came out there (who was not the guy the gentlemen at the show thought would come out) was like Jeckyl and Hyde. I told him before he began, I am looking at 2 more visits and they will be into next week and that once I have reviewed ALL products and get my bonus to pay cash for them, I will commit. After he gave me the quote and I thanked him, he became possessed, arrogant, and a complete jerk. He told me the reason I wouldn't SIGN NOW was "YOU just don't GET IT!" and that shocked me. Every time he took items back into his car and came back, he got WORSE. My brother couldn't believe this guy's behavior and tantrum. Other comments he made in my brother's presence, a) "If I go lower on the quote now, you won't get it later and that makes no sense... YOU OBVIOUSLY THINK YOU HAVE MONEY that I don't see reflected in you home", b) "WHY would you promise other strangers an appointment when I've TOLD YOU THIS PRODUCT IS BETTER!!", c) "You need to sign the contract NOW, because in MI you always have 3 days to get out of it", and his final comment as he stormed out of my house for the fourth time ---- "I'm not EVEN giving you my business card because I DON'T WANT YOU CALLING ME BACK". At that point --- I decided i wouldn't. Even after he told me he would do my whole house for with top of the line window's for $2000 --when his original quote was $5500.
Description of Work: I went with my parents to the Pontiac Home Show on Saturday 2/18. The gentlemen at the Home show were WONDERFUL and could not have been better. Due to the conversations I had with them, they made me feel comfortable having someone come to my home for estimates. I told them I was at the show to look at my options and had planned on getting about 4 quotes and look at different installers and manufacturers.

The initial phone call and such went well. The person measuring and gathering data to provide the estimate was very professional and courteous. However, when it came time to discuss the estimate and possibly commit to a sale, the salesperson said it was company policy to only discuss this with all homeowners present. The salesperson was unwilling to provide any numbers or other specifics without my spouse present. While this may be company policy, it seems out of date, bias, and ended up being a large waste of my time.

The windows involved removal of the old windows in various locations in the house. One was above a double kitchen sink and to me was not easily accessible and was my biggest concern due to the tile and wood trim around the window. They did this one last and like all the others the results were incredible. When wood trim was removed from inside it was returned to its place and while I was nervous, they were correct in their statement that I would never be able to tell it was removed when they were done with the process. They insulated around each window and put the previous installers to shame. The windows themselves are made in Michigan and hands down are the best I've seen after owning a house for over 30 years. Wish I would've called them first years ago, but, when I was a kid and saw the 'WeatherGard windows, we protect your home' commercials I thought they would be too expensive for me. Now when the remaining windows need replacement, I know I will call WeatherGard.
Description of Work: Had 5 vinyl windows replaced in various sizes with GardTech Series 700 double hung windows. Old windows were removed, repairs were made to the framing as needed, windows sealed with caulk and insulation and all cleanup and removal of debris, including the old windows was done.

The salesman arrived and was very arrogant, unprofessional and rude. He came in my home without an introduction or even a simple hand shake. He did arrive 15 minutes earlier than he said he would. When he gave my wife and I an estimate, it felt as though we were buying a used car. He was a high pressure salesman and fit the profile of a shady car salesman. He spoke down to my wife and I and at one point even called her "hun". His estimate started at $13,600 for six slider windows (large) and amazingly ended just under $4,000. At one point I interrupted him and told him we were no longer interested in his business - as he was arrogantly telling us how he had the best windows and that we could not find any other windows as good as his. At that point he said he could call his manager and get an additional $500 off our estimate. His "final" price was good and had he quoted me the price initially, I would have ordered the windows on the spot. Being that he was very deceptive and rude, I wouldn't let him install windows in my home for free. It is a shame because I have dealt with this company in the past and was very satisfied on my initial experience (with a different sales rep). They do have very good vinyl replacement windows and their workers (subcontracted) did a very good job.

First of all, I appreciate that you took the time to post your experience. However, I am disappointed that as a satisfied past customer, you did not take the time to call the company and speak to one of the family members (yes, we are proudly a family owned and operated business). We would have loved the opportunity to investigate the matter and correct it. We have many salespeople and, as you already know, a terrific product. The sales person was very good. One of the workers, I wasn't too happy with. He opened my front storm door and he took out the screw in the bottom of the door. It took them 6 hours to finish the work, and I forgot they took the screw out of the door, so the door was ajar after they left. My son in law fixed it. But that wasn't the fault of the salesman. And the window does look beautiful. They also had the best price.

Somebody had come to our door and we invited him to come back and give us information about our large front window. It is 96x50. He helped us pick a style that would go with our house and gave us a price, which was less than we anticipated. It took them a while to construct it. We waited 3 weeks for them to install it. The men they sent to install it were very efficient. It took them a couple of hours for the installation and we were very happy with it. We were very impressed with how they did their work and the information we got from the salesman. There was an extra perk; he also prayed with us, which was kind of interesting. I don't think he does that with everybody but I don't know. They were very good and we were very happy with the service. We like the window.

The job started with a ring at the door for a solication. They made an appt for later the next week. They spend a good 90 minutes explaining their product and process and I agreed to move ahead. After that day, the windows were installed in less than 3 weeks. Weathergard constructs their windows in Michigan.
Description of Work: We had 14 windows replaced. They completed the job with almost zero mess. The windows were installed from outside in. They did a good job with the aluminum trim work. The windows are operating satisfactorily. My impression is this is a higher quality vinyl window. We would have purchased more windows if they had offered faux wood grain options, this time we installed all white.

It went very well. It was a very cold, snowy and windy day but the team of two stuck with the job and got it done in an afternoon. They were considerate by closing doors to keep the cold air from getting to the main area of the house where I was working. They set down tarps to keep things clean and were very professional. I noticed the handles were different than my order on the casement windows and the installer called back to the office and someone came out within a week or so to put on the correct handles. Very easy to work with and I would recommend them to friends/family.

Toured the factory on 8 Mile and met with the owner and his son to discuss the product and process to replace existing 20 year old patio door walls. Impressed with the quality of vinyl, glass and assembly of the patio doors. Had compared Pella, Anderson and Peachtree. Weathergard exceeded my expectations when the job was complete. Price was very competitive and much less than some others quoted. Workmanship and trim, caulking etc was top notch. Two installers were polite and cleaned up after the two day job. I have seen a marked improvement in my heating bill after replacing the existing aluminum door walls with the Weathergard vinyl door walls. Wondered why I waited so long to have this job done!
Description of Work: Was quoted for replacement of 7 doorwalls. Variety of sizes ranged from a 12 foot four panel, 9 foot 3 panel, 8 foot two panel and 4 six foot 2 panel doorwalls. Salesman came and measured openings and completed quote. I continued to review other products and finally choose Weathergard based on price and quality. Salesman was not high pressue in the least. Job included removal and disposal of existing door walls. Installed 7 door walls and trimmed out exterior and interior around the opening. Caulked and insulated around each doorwall.

After getting estimates from a number of other window replacement companies (Hansons, Wallside, Replacement by Andersen, and Adkins and Sons) I decided to go with WeatherGard. Their salesman (Chris) was knowledgeable and friendly and provided a lot of details. Throughout the process they were responsive and polite when answering my questions. They are more expensive than Hansons and Wallside, but in my opinion they have a better product. The installation went very smoothly as well. One thing to note is that the frames one their windows are a bit thicker than some of the competitors. The windows are beautiful, they clean from the inside (something my old WeatherVane windows didn't do). The one thing I was not 100% pleased about is that they scheduled me in 2010 instead of 2009 which is what I was initially told (back in early November); that means I wont get my $1,500 rebate check this year. Other than that it was smooth sailing.
