J & E Installation

We would recommend J & E Installation to anyone wishing to install new doors and windows. They installed a new Jeldwen sliding door wall in our family room as promised and on time with complete clean up. It is a 1st class job!

We originally started with another, locally owned company which did not work out. The "other" salesman kept revising the quote upwards, even without changes to the order. J & E Installation, on the other hand, stuck with its quote. They installed a better quality door and sidelite than the other company for the same price (even a littlw lower). We really like our new front door, and so far it is working out well. The door was pricier than if we had gone with one of the national discount chains, but I do think we got better quality material doors and service.

We had a really good experience. I went to J&E to initially pick out two front doors and the storm doors. Jeff, one of the owners, helped me pick out the doors, the handles, and the windows on the door. I hadn't really given much though to the details, but he helped me through it. After he came out to measure the doorway, I got an estimate and wanted to change the doors from fiberglass to steel to cut down the price. We were able to do that, and I also asked for an estimate on replacing the back door. He gave me a good deal compared to the other estimates I was getting from other places. Jeff did warn me that it would be about a month delay, which we weren't thrilled about, but they had such good reviews on Angie's list and the price was reasonable, that we were OK with this. They came on time as promised to install the doors. We are happy with the installation and it looks great! Jeff kept me updated the whole way throughout the process, which is surprisingly reassuring. I just purchased a new house and dealing with other companies for various house renovations has been extremely stressful as sometimes I don't get a call back, etc. However, this wasn't the case with Jeff - he was VERY responsive. I would recommend J&E to anyone.

Ed was very nice on the phone and we planned to meet for an estimate on multiple door work. He said he'd call in the morning when leaving, I didn't get the call so I called him and indeed he was on his way. I arrived 10minutes late for the 9am estimate and started talking with a neighbor. I called Ed about 20min after 9 to see where he was and he said that he came to the house at 9am and felt unsafe. That there was a group of people across the street, near a church and he felt like he was 'getting set up.' I was flabbergasted by this. I've never seen groups of people together near the house and nor is there a church on our street. Just normal people in West Village Detroit going to and fro on their errands. He said he couldn't do the job and wasn't willing to come provide the estimate. Ed seemed like a nice guy, I guess he was afraid of Detroit and had an erie feeling. Maybe he went to the wrong house. Its understandable when people get bad feelings, but this all seemed silly and immature.

We were impressed from the beginning. My husband called the listed number, and talked to Jeff, one of the owners. He suggested we visit their showroom, which we did the following Saturday. We looked over the many choices of doors, storm doors, hardware, glass, etc., and Jeff gave us a price and made an appointment for the following Monday to come and take measurements. We were able to take color swatches home in the meantime. When we expressed concern over the color match between the doors and storm doors, he assured us that they would make sure they matched, and they do. He left us with a folder containing a copy of our order, which indicated an expected delivery time (3.5 to 4 weeks). The doors were ready within that time frame, and they made an appointment during the following week (the week before Christmas) to install them. Don, the installer, got started on the front doors, and it started to rain, and rained all day. He continued to work, despite getting soaked, but arranged to return one week later to install the side doors. By that time it had snowed, but that didn't hinder him at all. These new doors make a tremendous difference in the appearance of our house, as well as in our daily lives, as the old doors didn't close well, and couldn't really be adjusted because of the deterioration of the frames. Also, we had not had a working doorbell since we moved here a year and a half ago, and Don removed the button from the front and advised my husband about the installation of new buttons on both doors (for a wireless doorbell we had purchased at the Home Depot). Both doors are located in small, awkward places to work on the inside, but that made no difference in either the price or the quality of the work. We had been a little nervous starting out because previous reviews had mentioned that they were a little high in price, but we were pleasantly surprised. We feel that the price was quite fair for the quality of the product and installation. This project was our primary reason for signing up with Angie's List, and we couldn't be more pleased!

Worked with Ed on getting (2) exterior doors. He was very specific, detail-oriented and great with following up. We got exactly what we wanted and the doors look beautiful. Since we had such a good experience, we decided to order (7) interior doors as well- We wanted to get them installed prior to having guests over on Thanksgiving and Ed and the installer made it happen. We are very happy!

My experience was excellent. Its two brothers who own it and they are very responsive, they say they will take care of things in the future if anything goes wrong and they do. It is just a very good feeling; they are very good to deal with. They did a good job.

The installation was done efficiently, and the doors look fine. As far as the coupon for $250 off: When we went into their showroom we did not say where we got their name from, nor were we asked. After we chose the doors, we were informed of the total price in a phone message. I then called back and spoke to Ed (one of the owners) to tell him that we a coupon from Angie's List. He responded that the coupon had already been taken into account in the quoted price. When Ed came over our house to make measurements, he told me that he always takes the $250 off because people often show up with a coupon after the price had been set. Since we had already chosen what we wanted, and the price seemed fair, we proceeded as described above.

We recently contracted with J & E Installation of Farmington Hills, MI to replace the front door of our home. We are very pleased with every aspect of working with the company and its owner, Ed Esker, to determine the exact replacement door and hardware needed to complete the job. Mr. Esker visited our home after we had gone to his store to inquire about the project. He was prompt in meeting with us and precise in his recommendations. He took the necessary measurements to assure the proper door was ordered and gave us a written agreement with an estimate on when the special order items would be installed. The installation was performed by a very competent representation of the company who made sure that his work was timely and workmanlike. The pricing was competitive. We commend Angie's List for listing J & E Installation and have the utmost confidence that when we select a company from Angie's List, we will receive quality service and pricing.

Ed, the owner, came to my house. He helped me decide which door and sidelights might look best. He measured. He ordered. He stained. We picked the hardware (Door handles and doorbell). We picked the molding. Everything was done by one company. The installation by Don, was magnificent! He is a true perfectionist. I am so thrilled with the new, welcoming, upscale look to the entrance of my house!!

J & E was very professional and punctual. They provided accurate quotes, and performed the work 3 weeks after quoting.

Great service, I noticed a slight crack in the door when it was installed. J/E contacted the door manufacturer and got a new door. New door was installed, Workmanship was excellent

J&E Installation seemed to be honest and trustworthy. They offered me a good service and a good price.

.I requested a quote on 14 interior doors. Measurements and door types were previously done by Jeld Wen via Home Depot. Price was $99/door + $199 complete installation for 14 doors. Went to J&E for a price comparison expecting a local merchant would be eager for my business. Two weeks later nothing, no contact, non phone call. I finally called J&E (Ed). He forgot my name let alone my RFQ. Said he would call me back. He did. Price was $235/door hollow without paint. Let me see, $234x14=$3239 minimum. Home Depot and Jeld Wen will be 1/2 the price. The cost of quality? Maybe, but these are interior doors, painted, no weathering, no abuse. You decide. Well at least Ed got me off his obviously busy plate. Jeld-Wen it is..

I was very happy with them. I would give them high marks all over. They were very professional. I told them what I wanted and they gave it to me. They took care of me. I showed what they had available. I picked a good door. It was $700 including installation but it was a solid door. They came and installed it. It took two weeks to get a right size door. I would use them in the future.

My experience with J&E Installation was fantastic! I started working with Ed from J&E in regards to replacement doors back in September of 2011. He worked with me from beginning to end on every decision about the doors from the style to the color to the hardware. He was very patience and understanding as I changed my mind many times. I was so impressed with Ed's expertise and knowledge and how much attention he paid to every detail (big or little) of this job. On his initial visit to my home, he measured and went over my choices and options. He never hurried me through any decision and was very professional, polite and kind. After the order was complete, it took 4 or 5 weeks for the doors to be delivered. Ed called me and we set up the installation for Nov. 10th. I received a call on the morning of Nov. 10th from Don, the installer, that he was on his way and would be at my home by 8:30 am. He was on time and worked hard throughout the day. He wasn't able to get all the doors installed in one day and came back on Nov. 11th to complete the job. There was only one slight problem: the basement door was damaged ( but not during the installation) and could not be hung correctly. A new door was immediately ordered, delivered and installed the following week. Don was terrific. He did a great job and cleaned up at the end of each day. He was prompt, polite and professional. When the job was finished, I was very pleased with the entire look of the new doors. My home looks beautiful. I highly recommend J&E to anyone thinking about getting new doors because they really understand what customer satisfaction is all about!

Met with John, one of the owners, in September for the estimate. I had four other estimates and the J & E Installation estimate was right in the middle. The price, along with the Angie's List reviews, helped me decide to go with this company. I was told it would take several weeks for my door to be ready. My installation date was set for October 20 at 9 am. Don, the person doing the installation, arrived promptly at 9 am and began work immediately. He told me that the old alarm system might be a problem because he would have to remove it and then replace it during installation. Thank goodness he tipped me off. I went into the basement before he removed the alarm switch and found a way to disable it just in case. Sure enough, as soon as he removed the alarm switch, the siren went off, and I was able to quickly shut it down. After that everything went smoothly. Don removed the old door and storm door and put in the new ones. He worked straight through for about six hours. It was cold that day and it started to rain. Don asked if it was ok to come back in the morning to put up the security gate on the side of the garage. I agreed. Before leaving he made sure the alarm was working properly. He came back before 9 am the next morning and finished the installation. Overall I am thrilled with this job. My entry door and sidelight are absolutely beautiful!! It changed the look of my home both inside and out. The attention to detail is excellent. Even the framing inside the door jamb is well done. The screen door and security gate were installed with the same great workmanship. The pics don't come close to showing how great it looks. I plan on using this company again to have my patio doors replaced. Great work, great service, professional people, all made this purchase worth every penny!

Our original entry door was cracked and drafty and we needed to replace it but I wanted to replace it with a door that would look nice and fit the style of the house. I went to Home Depot , Lowes and Dillman and Upton first to see what was available. Although the doors there were nice, I was not getting the individualized attention I needed to make a good choice. I am one of those customers who has a hard time deciding what she wants and really appreciate it when the vendor spends extra time with me so that I can make an informed choice. After reading about J & E Installation on Angie's List, I went there to see if I might get some help in finding a door that would fit the style and color of the home. Tina looked at pictures of my house and helped me come up with a nice design with custom made sidelights that matched the stained glass window effect in the door. If I had not gone to J & E, I would have had to settle for ordinary clear sidelights because of their odd dimensions. Although custom doors are more expensive, I wanted something special that would look really nice. When Ed came to the house to do the measurements, he helped me come up with a color. He seemed to understand how important it was to me to have just the right door. I was also was able to choose some really nice door hardware that fit the decor of the interior of the home. The door is absolutely beautiful and I smile each time I walk past it.

They provided excellent service. They cleaned up after the work was done. I would use their service in the future.

They have been great to work with. They provided photos of their work and gave me phone numbers to contact people they have done business for in the past. They have really gone above and beyond. I have no hesitation about them completing the work perfectly.

Overall experienced was excellent. Outstanding installation of the new door and great clean up. Took care of one minor issue effectively. Very satisfied.

They were not very professional. I told them I wanted to get an estimate and see what it would cost me to have my windows done. They never took my name or number and I never heard back from this company.

The whole experience was very good. We had initially priced out the whole job at Lowes, however after reading the reports on J&E on Angies List I contacted them. Ed advised me to first come out to the showroom to take a look at door options, and he then scheduled an appointment at our home. It was clear their reputation is well deserved, and their price came out lower than Lowes (no pun intended), with better doors!! The installation is top quality, the doors look fantastic, and the installer was highly professional. We are very happy with our doors and J&E, will certainly use them again if the opportunity arises.

It was all good and he had suggestions. We had a few follow up issues and they were prompt in taking care of our problems.

I'm going to have the windows refurbished instead of replaced. They seemed honest and up-front. They don't try to take advantage of you.
