J & E Installation

From the on-set of my original phone call, visit to the showroom and final installation I was very impressed with Jeff and the entire company. Jeff was courteous and honest during my initial visit to the showroom. He recommended two affordable and quality windows for me to choose from. When he arrived at my home to measure and prepare the quote I asked him to give me his honest opinion of what he thought of both manufacturers and he did. I asked him if he was going to put new windows in his home today what he would go with. He gave me his opinion and I went with it. I am glad I did. I could not be happier with my new windows. Once the windows were received at J&E Jeff called me to set up an appointment for the install. The installers (John & Grady) showed up on the date that was promised and they were both very courteous and respectful of me and my home. They laid down tarps inside the house to eliminate un-necessary dirt and removed their shoes each and every time they entered my premise. They installed all of the windows on the first day and sealed them on the inside so there were no drafts or the like overnight. The second day they came and did all of the trim work on the outside. This was great as I only had to be home from work one day to allow them entrance to my home. Day two was all external work so there was no additional time off of work needed by me. If you want to deal with a great local company and not the high pressure sales people of the locally TV advertised companies I would highly recommend J&E. They do not use sub-contractors either. They are a top notch company from the owners down to their installation crew.

My doors looks wonderful really happy with the work and professionalism and quality. My backdoor and porch door had horrible drafts cold air coming thru. I ordered the doors with the full blind on porch door and the half blind door on the back, looks great. All drafts are gone and love the blinds in the door to raise and open leveler built inside the glass. Really pleased. My main front door has a beveled glass trimmed in gold at the top looks great. Jeff was my salesperson, came out next day measured, no complaints would recommend J and E Installation for a well job done. Workers was wonderful.

Thing I'm most delighted by was how cleanly the work was done. The doors honestly look beautiful, with excellent finishing. They even used gray caulking to match the door color we selected, when they probably could have used just white. I was truly impressed with the final result.

The service was great. The Windows arrived and were installed in the estimated time frame. Communication was good too. Ed was our main contact person and returned all of my calls very promptly. The Windows are beautiful! Thank you.

It went beautifully. Jeff helped us pick out a great custom (oversized) door. He installed it in a timely manner. There were a couple of adjustments that needed to be made. He made them promptly and at no extra cost. He was very responsive. He's highly professional and extremely knowledgeable. Neighbors have complimented us on the door. I would use him again and I have already recommended him to a couple of neighbors.

This was a great experience from start to finish. I found J & E here on Angie's List and called them for an estimate on replacing our side entry door. We set up an appointment and Ed arrived on schedule. We looked over the job and possible solutions. Our door had been kicked in during a home invasion and I wanted a better door than the standard builders grade. Ed understood our needs and had a solution. We agreed on the price and ironed out the details. Within a week and a half, Ed had the door, painted it to match our existing trim, and personally came out and installed the door with the extra security measures we had talked about. He also threw in another lock to match the side entry door so we would continue to have everything keyed alike. At the same time we were picking out the side entry door, we also wanted an estimate on replacing the front entry door. Ed took the measurements while he was there and we agreed to come out to his show room on 8 Mile and look at all the options. My wife and I met Ed at his showroom on Saturday. He spent about two hours reviewing all the options and answering questions. We were convinced that we would get another quality job from J & E and liked the product so we placed our order. Our front entry was installed last Tuesday. It took about 3 hours to install. It arrived stained just like we ordered. The installers were very professional, did a great job on the install, and cleaned up their mess while the work was ongoing and at the end. Every piece of trim matches up perfectly both in color and at the joints. This turned out perfect and we couldn't be happier. Also as part of their service, Ed will be back out in 6 months to install a protective coating on our door exterior. We might have been able to save a little money by going to a big box store but I doubt we could have received better service. We don't have a lot of work done on our house by outside contractors but this has been our best experience by far! Thanks Ed!

The guy came, talked about doors. He didn't have exact match for my doors but came very close. He said he would be there after Christmas. But then, I was gone after Christmas. I didn't hear from them. I called up and said, "Hey, when are you guys coming out?" Then he showed up to put in the doors. The doors look great.

We used J&E in the past for interior doors and full house windows plus a sliding patio door. This company does excellent work. The installers they employ are skilled and know their trade. The installers who did our door, Pete and Pete were excellent. The job was done right and the cleanup job was great. This company is honest and fair. We would use them again without hesitating.

Flawlessly. Everyone at J&E was a pleasure to deal with and they were consummate professionals. I would strongly recommend them to anyone in their area of work. When it comes time to replace our windows and door wall we will definitely be calling J&E.

Ed was thorough and made some great recommendations up front. The installation team was friendly, clean and didn't waste any time. The doors turned out great.

I absolutely would use this company again. All phone, sales and installation contact is with the two owners. From my initial call through the meeting in my home to measure and order the doors and, finally, the installation, they were friendly, professional, prepared and thoroughly knowledgeable and skilled. The doors look and work beautifully (they build an entirely new door frame, so the fit is perfect) - I wish they were in the front of my house instead of the back. I appreciated the follow-up call the next day to be certain that I was happy with the doors.

After the installation back in 2013. They said they would come back in a year and put a top coat on the door free of charge to prevent weathering. After a year had passed I called and asked if they would still come out. They agreed with no reluctance. I was guilty for not contacting them to return to do the top coat. They came back with no hesitation, even though more than a year had passed.

I first visited their showroom on 8 mile road, which has a large selection of doors to look at, to compare the doors I'd looked at on Thermatru's web site with the real doors in a showroom. J & E's showroom is one of the largest around, so I got to compare the doors in person easily as Tina took me around the showroom. I made the decision to upgrade my Thermatru door to the one that has the nice quality sidelights w/o the actual screws and frame showing on the door. The upgraded door had other benefits as well, such as a wider portion of wood in the actual frame for improved security. That upgrade was about $1000, but it was well worth it--the door is beautiful. It's a 6-panel Classic Craft (code CCV060). The sidelights on this door are bigger/wider. I ordered the granite opaque glass--full sidelights. Second, I decided to have my door painted by J & E to match the interior trim of my house and the exterior trim of my house. I gave them the colors and paint codes so they could order the paint for the job. They sprayed the door, vs. brushing the paint on. As a result, the door has a professional finish with very nice quality Third, I picked out oil rubbed bronze hardware from an Emtek catalog at their showroom. Actually, I saw the know itself in the showroom and really liked it. I bought the matching deadbolt. Tina explained you can get an "interconnected" deadbolt/doorknob system, so when the deadbolt is locked, and you open the front door from inside, it actually unlocks the deadbolt at the same time. What a great feature! No more having to first turn the deadbolt, you just turn the know and it opens. I love it. The hardware came in but the manuf. made a mistake in sending a full handleset. Tina got it worked out and the right hardware came in. Next, on to the crew and installation. Ed (owner I worked with from the time I placed the order) called to schedule my installation. The crew showed up (a father and son, Pete and Pete) on time the day of the install. They were great. Nice guys, worked very hard, and they paid very close attention to detail. The son Pete did the work on the inside. He carefully removed all of the old trim molding, and installed the new molding in its place. He also did the painting. He did a great job. You'd never know that all that trim was replaced. I don't know any other door company that does this. Usually you're left to fend for yourself when it comes to trim work and paint work. That's one of the reasons I picked J & E so I wouldn't have to do it myself. It took about 5 hours to complete the installation of the door, the sidelights, and do the painting. They also replaced the wood on both sides of my door that goes up to the upstairs window. The installation was done very professionally, and I'm really happy with the work. Oh, and they did a great job cleaning up when they were done. The next day, Ed came over to finish up the trim work around the inside of the window. It turns out that the paint was just peeling, and the wood was not rotted as we thought. He painted that trim work, and finished painting all the boards up around the top arch of my window. That upper arch was a separate piece of wood and it was not replaced. That way, all the wood matched with brand new paint. Next, Ed put in my SkyBell video doorbell. It was a little tricky, but it's in and working fine. The tricky part had to do with the doorbell design, not the actually installation. Finally, everything was cleaned up, and Ed used a shop vac to clean up the front porch. Then he cleaned my 2nd level window above the front door to remove any handprints from doing the job. It wasn't necessary, but I appreciate it!!! I highly recommend J&E Installation. From start to finish they were very professional, followed through on everything they said they'd do, did a great job on both days of work at my home, did a terrific job with the installation, and they were friendly to work with. No issues. From the time I placed my order to the day of install was two months. In part, that's because Emtek sent the wrong hardware the first time. I love my new door, hardware, and storm door. I wouldn't change a thing.

Ed came out to measure and offer choices the same day we visited his office. We had odd shaped doors, so it was a custom order. Ed stayed in touch and was ahead of schedule on the installation. Upon installation, they found sub floor issues but had all the materials with them to fix the issues and continue the job. They had the trim already painted to match my old trim and also rerouted the alarms on the doors to work with the new setup. They spent a lot of time getting the trim to fit exactly right. Didn't leave even the slightest mess. Extremely professional work. Very satisfied. I will be hiring them to replace a few windows in the Fall.

Exceptional customer service & attention to detail. J & E Installation assisted in our kitchen remodel with a bay window over the sink. The owner came to our home, did the measuring and discussed all our options. He gave us a competitive quote and could work within our remodeling schedule. We are very picky customers with high expectations so when the window reached the showroom I was invited to come inspect it prior to installation. On install day the crew arrived on time. This job was small and should have taken about 2 hours but a storm caused delays. The crew was professional and patient with my endless critiques. They went above and beyond their normal scope of work to ensure my 100% satisfaction. We will not hesitate to use J&E for the replacement of the remaining windows in our home. The bay window is a premium upgrade in our kitchen & we are so delighted that we chose J & E Installation for our project.

Everyone at J&E was very friendly, helpful, & professional! In the showroom we were able to look at many options; the call with the estimate was received within only a couple of days; measurement was completed quickly; order of doors took less than estimated 4-6 weeks; and installation was the absolute best!! Kudos to J&E's installation guys (brothers) who worked non-stop until the job was done! These guys did fabulous work!! Doors are beautiful, installed perfectly, airtight, & such a great improvement and investment!

The two installers (sorry, I forgot their names) arrived at 9:30 AM as scheduled. They started immediately, removing the largest existing patio door (a nine-foot) first. They then took great care in preparing the opening and fitting the new door so that it was perfectly level and operated properly. I should note that the casing molding around the existing doors was an unusual design, and their work was careful enough to enable it to be re-used instead of having to install new molding that wouldn't match what was in the rest of the house. The second door (a six-foot) was replaced with the same care and attention to detail. The men were very personable and easy to talk to, plus they answered my questions (and put up with my constant presence) without any sign of irritation. They did a good job of caulking inside and out despite the fact that toward the end it was dark outside, and cleaned up after themselves very well. I should also mention that it was a pleasure to work with Ed, one of the owners. We appreciated his promptness, insight and recommendations, and will likely use J&E again when it comes time to replace our entry doors. We highly recommend J&E Installation!

**UPDATE: Thanks for your response, but while the price was a surprise, it was not why we decided not to work with you. We went with another provider for approximately the same cost (around $300 less) because of their service and their attention to detail. I did share with you that someone had gotten five doors for the same price, but after additional research, and knowing the quality of doors that we wanted, we were willing to invest. Just not with someone who we didn't trust to order the right product.**

J & E did a terrific job. They found exactly the doors that I wanted and did an outstanding custom installation, including paint and staining. Ed was very professional and committed to getting the job done right. They were not cheap, but I got what I paid for: a quality job completed on time.

I was looking to have a new front entry door with sidelights installed. After doing a little research including checking here on Angie's List, my wife and I went to J&E Installation and met with Jeff who worked with us on selecting a door we liked. Within a week, Jeff came to our home to measure the existing door and finalize details. Within six weeks, the door was ready and installed by Father and son team, Pete and Pete. I was really impressed by them. They were very professional and detailed. The door looks wonderful and I am extremely pleased. I would recommend J&E Installation to anyone looking for a new door.

The provider worked with us very diligently to ensure we picked the right product for our needs. The doors were delivered and installed on time and as per our specifications. They were also very good at accommodating any requests we had post installation. Would definitely work with this company again if needed.

Jeff the owner was delightful when he arrived and helped me determine which storm doors would best suit my home. Just on a whim I had him look at our basement door wall to see what could be done since it was almost 20 years old. He recommended a Sunrise door wall based upon the quality and added security it could offer. Pete and Pete (father and son) installed the storm doors and did a wonderful job. Today John and Grady installed the door wall and did an equally wonderful job. Everyone I worked with was professional, friendly, punctual, hardworking and clearly dedicated to doing the best job possible. Jeff is now helping my son with a new storm door. I am very happy with all three doors I purchased in quality, design and security. I highly recommend this company.

They were recommended to me by a friend. They came through with a reasonable estimate and did great work. The actual installation took three days to complete.
