AJ Danboise

We have a 27 year old Lennox furnace so he had to locate the baffle. He returned the next day and installed the baffle. We signed up for a $220.00 one year service contract that includes A/C and furnace inspections and priority service response. We've used all of AJD services for many years. We're very satisfied.

The kitchen renovation involved several trips: one to move and cap off a gas line; another to install a new heating duct; another to reinstall the gas line in the newly-configured kitchen; then finally to hook up the new plumbing. The office was always very responsive, and they tried to send me someone who had worked on my house before and had some familiarity with us, which helps a lot. Before the big kitchen renovation, we'd had Danboise install a new furnace and water heater, replace our galvanized water supply lines with copper, and repair / replace old shower plumbing. All told, our business relationship with Danboise encompassed almost 20 years, and we never, ever had a negative experience with them. My only beef with them is that they don't work as far west as I now live, but they're the standard against which I'm comparing contractors with whom I work in my our new place.

Woke up to no electricity in several lights and multiple outlets. No circuit breakers were tripped. Called on a Thursday morning. They were very booked up, but said someone could come Friday but they couldn't say when. I called about noonish on Friday and they said I was next in line. About an hour later they called to say the electrician was on his way. Good guy. Sense of humor. Tried to explain what he was doing each step of the way in nontechnical language I could understand. Checked the breaker box and found no problems there. Traced dead wiring back to the box for a while until he discovered the problem. I am technologically incapable to explaining it, but it had something to do with multiple outlets/lights on one circuit, including high-draw appliance like the microwave, which wasn't around when they wired the house back in 1968. He found a way to provide a short-term solution... moving some breakers around so that one circuit wasn't conflicting with another?? And told us that the ultimate fix (essentially rewiring the house) would be very expensive (we'd heard that from another electrician years ago). So are lights are back on for $200...for the time being anyway. And the service was professional and responsive. The electrician seemed to enjoy his work. II would recommend Danboise for electrical needs.

The installers were prompt, courteous and thorough. On the second day, when the system was supposed to be up and running, the technicians discovered a faulty part that prevented the system from working properly after everything was installed and they were doing the final check out. Needless to say I was not happy and my wife was even less thrilled. However, the technicians came back the next day when it was convenient for us, installed a brand new part and then continued with the installation and check out. I was impressed with their thoroughness, attention to detail and desire to make the job right. The building inspector also said the installation was one of the neatest and tight installations he has seen. Since the installation we have been very happy with the AC system. Danboise will be coming out this fall to start up the furnace and hiumidifier as part of the installation agreement.

We had water in our basement over the weekend, and were concerned the sump pump wasn't working. I called AJ Danboise on Sunday and actually talked to a person and set up an appointment for Monday (I only got voicemail on other places I called). The technician called before he arrived today, he was courteous and professional. He advised the issue wasn't with the sump pump, he checked that it was working properly, and said we needed to work with a company that can diagnose and repair foundation issues. He explained the sump pump's operation and the backup system, he was friendly and seemed knowledgable (technician's name was Kevin).

Overall I would rate our experience with AJ Danboise as highly favorable. I recieved quotes from 5 different vendors including one 'big box' store. AJ Danboise price was not the cheapest (though they were among the best) but their expertise and professionalism was unparalled. Not only did their final price match their estimate, but they even provided some work outside of the quoted estimate for free to make the project work. It was greatly appreciated. They recently called for our 6 month 'check up' on the furnace as well, so good follow through on their part.

I called them and they were here within hours. I don't have anything to compare the prices to but it was expensive. I would use their services again in the future.

I was very satisfied with AJ Danboise. The technician came out to my house to explain the problem my furnace was having. They waived the service change and had the part I needed in only two hours. I would use them again in the future.

I didn't have any power in my den. I called AJ Danboise and I was told that they would come out the next day at 4:30pm. The service technician was right on time. He was polite and worked very quickly. He fixed the problem in 30 minutes. I was pleased with the quality of service. Good Job

The estimate for these two jobs combined was $460, which we thought very high. We declined the work on the kitchen faucet. He wanted to snake the bathroom sink (and charge me for it) before replacing the trap, but we said no -- do the trap first and let's see if the problem is fixed. It was fixed, and no snaking was needed. We were satisfied with what he did, but felt their pricing very high. We also weren't very impressed with the plumber himself, although his work was fine.

Excellent experience. Very clean, quick and quiet (we have a new baby in the house). We couldn't have asked for more. I would highly recommend this company.

Tech's estimate did not break down the parts and service costs separately, but totaled the whole cost ($800+) together. When asked, service repair person said it was all standard rates for parts and service and didn't have the breakdown. Logging into their website, there was a $65 coupon for the first visit. Total time for the repairs was about 2.5 hours. Service tech had to remove the sink-tub from the top of the vanity to get access underneath to the valves. When he replaced the sink, he did not caulk the top of it to the vanity. My wife did a load of wash later that day and there was a leak from one of the hose connections to one of the newly installed valves. A call was made the next day and tech was timely and responsive and tightened the connection. All in all, the repairs where made but price is very high in my opinion; even with the website coupon. Also, I would have expected better quality the first day of service so as not to have to come back the next day. The company has been around for a long time and close to my home, Perhaps in an emergency situation, I would use them again; albeit, but price is a major factor!

Called AJ Danboise out to replace a leaking hot water heater. Response time was great, as they were able to come out the very next day (Saturday). Unfortunately, AJ Danboise only carries one type of hot water heater and their "quote" is the heater and install all rolled into one. They were unwilling to give a breakdown of the material costs vs. the labor costs for some reason. Also, when you compare the final price (~$1300) for a standard 40 gallon gas heater, it is definitely much more than a standard install from Lowes or Home Depot, even if I bought the high end heater from the big box stores. What really irked me (still planning to call and discuss this with their billing) is that they charged me a $65 service call fee, even when I told them over the phone that I knew I needed a new water heater and that I didn't want it repaired. That is preposterous in my opinion. So while I do feel this company does do good work, they are substantially overpriced compared to other companies out there. Unless you have an emergency repair that you can't find anyone else to fix, I would not recommend AJ Danboise.

I selected this company from Angies list and contacted them to do some work for one of the homes I have in Michigan. Because I don't live there it was important to me to find someone I could trust. Angies list has allowed me to operate my rentals without being in the state where they rentals are. AJ, although I thought was a little pricey, I didn't have to have to worry. They contacted me while they were on sight and walked be through what needed to be done and how much it was going to cost. There were no surprises and the best part is they said what they were going to do and they did it.

It was great. They were punctual, professional, and they explained everything as they went along. They also didn't mind me watching them work, which I appreciated.

We recently purchased a home and didn't to repair some drywall. My husband was nailing something into the stud and it went right through a pipe that went through the stud. Water started spraying everywhere and it was huge mess. I called AJ Danboise based on the reviews on Angie's List and they were able to come out right away. The plumber arrived within the hour and got straight to work. It took about 20 minutes and the pipe was fixed. The plumber was very professional and helpful.

We had Aj Danboise come out to check our boiler which was not heating properly. This was a company that we had used to install our central air conditioning several years before. They sent someone out to look at the boiler. He told my wife that the boiler was bad and needed to be replaced. Also, he told her there was high concentration levels of carbon monoxide and that we should not be in the house. He charged us $175 for the service call and gave her a price of approx Seven Thousand Dollars to replace the boiler. We of course called another heating and cooling company to come out and give a 2nd opinion.They fixed the boiler for $200 and tested for carbon monoxide and found none! This was two years ago and the boiler is fine. We stoppped payment on our check to Danboise and asked them for an explanation, which ou course they could not give. Several months later we had a problem with the a/c unit they installed. We called and were told that they would no longer service our unit.(We assume because we stopped payment on the check for the bogus boiler inspection.

Danboise is excellent in every way. They are a little pricy but they are responsive, knowledgeable, professional, and a local business. I now use them for plumbing, electrical, heating and A/C. I know I can count on Danboise to do the job right so I do not mind paying a little more.

The workmanship was good; however, after the fact we found out that we could have saved hundreds of dollars going with a number of other plumbers. It is our own lack of research that cost us the extra money, but we won't even consider them again knowing their price-point. They also charge $25 for an estimate.

Bottom lne--fast, prompt, creative, but not the cheapest in town. In this case, though, you definitely get what you pay for.

I was working 20 hours a day at the time of service. I told them to just come out and do it. They told me the part was not available and I would have to replace the entire panel. They left a huge hole in the wall of my finished basement and he told me to just put a poster over it. They left me with a thousand dollar bill for something that should have cost $75. Later, I made a phone call and found that a company up the road had four in stock. I ended paying the full amount, but they did come back and fix the hole at least.

We had them come out and quote us on replacing two meters outside our house and our panel in our house. They quoted us for this and wanted nearly 3700 more than their competitor. Additionally we used the website coupon to reduce the cost of them coming out to quote us to which we had to remind them when they tried to charge us more for just for the quote. When I called them back to talk about the quote further, they seem put off by the conversation. Maybe it was just the luck of the draw but we opted not to use them and wen with one of their competitors. Not regretted it at all.
