Description of Work: Troy and his EB Handyman team did a variety of jobs for us between June and September of 2011. They ranged from installing new drain pipes to stop storm water from leaking into the basement to re-pointing chimneys, exterior painting, and repairing the wall of our garage.

+ -1 moreIt was difficult to not have a kitchen for three weeks and no running water on the first floor. However, Mike moved my old refrigerator into the dining room and I also had an old microwave and a toaster oven, so all in all, I survived. I do plan to have other rooms in the house drywalled and old floors removed and replaced with carpeting. I will call upon EB Handyman once again for an estimate and hope we can work together again.
Description of Work: My house is about 112 years old and though my kitchen may not have been that old, it was in dire need of updating from ceiling to floor. Troy, from EB Handyman, met with me and I told him what I wanted done: removal of all existing cabinets, appliances and floor as well as applying drywall to all walls and ceiling. I would need all new cabinets, countertops, appliances, floor, lighting and paint. In other words, a completely new kitchen! Troy works with a talented kitchen designer from Williams Kitchen and Bath who came to my home and suggested a plan for the new kitchen. It would involve moving the previous locations for both the sink and refrigerator and new cabinets would fill spaces where none existed before. The day after she came to my home, she sent the actual designs via email. I was very happy with the plans and Troy took it from there. He gave me a starting date for the remodeling, assigned me tasks which I was responsible for: selecting cabinets, countertops, floor and paint color as well as purchasing all appliances. Work started on September 10th as Troy had promised, with demolition. I met the man who was to do most of the work and take on the responsibility for the whole project at my home. Mike, is an easygoing, extremely talented, courteous, clean and respectful young man. He is quiet and unassuming and by himself, he does the work of many. The only parts he did not do were drywall, floor and paint. Mike checked in with me every morning before any work began and we'd go through that day's schedule. I felt very comfortable handing Mike a key to my home to come and go as needed. Neither he nor any of the other workers ever abused any of my property. This was extremely important to me since I am a single, older woman. Three weeks after the project began, my kitchen took final shape. Everything is shinny, new and beautiful. + -1 moreThese guys just did an excellent job! They showed up and did the job while we were not home! We came home and noticed the work was complete and the contractor left us an invoice on the door. Amazing service and amazing work!
Description of Work: These guys were great. I cannot remember the actual date of service...I believe it was a year and a half ago. We had a porch that was unfinished. It was a unique job...there were exposed nails over the porch after a roofing job. The roofing company actually left large exposed nails over the seat on the porch! If someone were to stand up they would have impaled themselves on the nails (talk about dangerous)! EB Handyman came in and covered the entire area with wood (I do not know how they were able to do it) but the porch looks amazing and was able to be painted right after. They did an amazing job fixing the problem. Great company! I would use them again.....

+ -1 moreAs the honey do list kept piling up I decided to get some estimates from handymen. EB had sent me several post cards so I decided to get an estimate from them. Their estimate was higher than the other two, but they've got more into marketing, and came across as more professional, so I can understand their pricing. The reason I give them a D overall and in professionalism is because I asked them if they could repair my 2yr old Pella screen door that I bought and installed improperly myself and they said they couldn't. They said they could install a new one for several hundred dollars. I ended up hiring a local guy from my church that had it opening and closing smoothly while he waited for his helper to show up. I have no doubt that they do good, quality work, which is why I might consider them for future jobs that I know what exactly needs to be done. But I don't like that they were so quick to increase the fee by adding unnecessary services.
Description of Work: EB Handyman came out to my home to give me a free estimate for several repairs on my home.

+ -1 moreWe have used them for renovating projects for things as small as helping us take a cabinet off the wall all the way to redoing our basement floor. It is nice that they don't just do big projects. They are very good about communicating what they can handle and what they cannot handle. They also give us ways to cut costs but doing stuff ourselves. They have been very helpful and nice. They worked a while with us about the job and it was initially $10,000 and they worked with us to cut costs down to $7,000.
Description of Work: I have used EB Handymen Remodeling for numerous things. They were last in to redo the basement.

They are coming out now because I think I have a rat in my house. He has looked around for places it might have gotten in. he is going to stop up those places. He is not cheap because he has to pay his people and make a profit his self. He does a very thorough job.

+ -1 moreFrom the beginning, Troy was very easy to work with, conscientious, and efficient. The initial estimate (which was a very long document because of the numerous issues initially found by the buyer's inspector) arrived in a very short period of time. Once the negotiation was settled and we knew what work needed to be completed, Troy made arrangements with the necessary staff and sub-contractors. The work was completed quickly, efficiently, cleanly, and was very well done. I was especially impressed with the clean-up. There was no "outside evidence" that work had taken place; everything was left very clean. They took care of disposing of the old microwave - which was very convenient. The new stairs were well-built and sturdy. We were very pleased with the work done by E.B. Handyman and would highly recommend them. We are moving out of state and will be unable to use them for future services, but would recommend them to others.
Description of Work: We used E.B. Handyman initially to provide a "counter-estimate" to an inspection on the condo we were selling. There were numerous petty issues found by the buyer's inspector that we did not agree with. E.B. Handyman's Troy Schmidt came out and did a very thorough estimate. After negotiating with the buyer, we ultimately used E.B. Handyman to replace an over-the-range microwave, perform some minor foundation repairs (filling in cracks, etc.), a minor paint job, and to rebuild the basement stairs.

+ 4 moreEvery job has been finished to my satisfaction. I have had an experience of having to have a project refinished, but it was done with no negative feeling. It is my experience that it is very important to know how a company reacts when questioned about doing something over. I will return to a company which corrects a job with no bad feelings. That is a company to go back to. That is why I have been using EB Handyman for many years.
Description of Work: I have had EB Handyman do several jobs for me, all considered "handyman", some small jobs like cleaning gutters and fixing doors to installing new plumbing fixtures. No matter what I have requested, Reic has been more than willing to stop by and give an estimate. I have recommended him and seen some of his larger jobs. I sent an e-mail yetersay for estimates on an egress windoe and restructuring basement stairs. He had gotten back to me within a couple oh hours to set up an appointment. The date and amount entered do not represent date or amoun as I do not have my accounts available at this time.

+ 4 moreWe worked with Troy, the project manager, who coordinated all the subs they regularly use for different aspects of the job. He was courteous, prompt, on site constantly, and always returned our calls quickly. The various crews used were also courteous and experienced, professional. They also left the job site cleaned up as much as possible at the end of each workday. We are very pleased with the service we received and the costs came right in at the estimates for the various projects. We are going to have them back to redo a laundry room and would have them back to do anything else we decide to do. We recommend them highly. They also appreciate home-baked cookies . . .
Description of Work: We bought an estate sale house that needed a lot of work. We had an enclosed porch demolished and reconstructed that included new siding, new roof, drywall, trim, electrical and installation of new windows and door, had the roof replaced on house and garage that included partial replacement of decking, and chimney reconstruction that replicated the old chimney as much as possible. They were extremely fair - when the wrong custom grills were ordered for the porch windows, EBH ate the cost and ordered the correct ones.

+ 1 moreThey do beautiful work. They arrive on time, do the work thoroughly and clean up after themselves. I would use them for every job I have, if I could afford them. I had to take a disability retirement and with a shrinking fixed income, I cannot afford them. Last year I had some work done by low cost workers and that's what I got! One man said E.B. wouldn't hire him. I wasn't surprised. If you can afford to pay for the best, this is the company you want.
Description of Work: I hired Eric and his staff every year to fix problems with my house. I usually made a list and they did the work, in an excellent manner. They have fixed rotted wood on the outside of my house and garage several times over the years. They built a step for my front porch because the drop was too deep for me. They repaired and replaced a window in my garage that was rotting. They fixed a hole in my living room wall using a skilled plasterer (?). It looks good as new. These are just a few of the jobs they have done over the years.

+ 3 moreEB was a pleasure to work with from start to finish. Troy came to give initial estimate and oversaw entire process, checking in daily and following up after work was done. Jon did the tile work and other finishing work, such as constructing a small cabinet to fill a gap left by a larger stove. Other men did the counters and Kerry painted. Everyone involved followed up when they said they would, which was a standout of this company. The work was done quickly and efficiently with great attention to detail. We wondered what would be done with our floor vent since the new tile was grey; Jon returned from the weekend with the vent that he had painted to match! Jon was also very careful to clean up the kitchen every night and keep a door free for us to use while tile was drying. We appreciated that since we were around for much of the process. Everyone we worked with holds themselves to high standards and strives to make us happy. We were happy with the whole process from the estimate to the end result and will use them again!

End price is more expensive than originally quoted due to slowness of workers after charging by the hour. I did complain and the owner made a minor adjustment to the price but I found the conversation to be stressful and the owner condescending in tone and affect towards me.

+ 1 moreI wanted some French doors, and the opening wasn't perfect. In order to get the right size, I had to order custom doors. Two kids showed up who didn't know what they were doing. They had no tools, and the doors were about five inches too short. They had to redo the opening, which was terrible. It was just a poorly done job. The windows were just fine, but they neglected to tell me that they couldn't do any bending of aluminum, so there was a gap.
Description of Work: They replaced a window, put in an air conditioner, and did some French doors.

Four years ago, they made a frame for a huge window in my family room. The job cost me $1000. They replaced the rotting wood frame of the window with the synthetic frame. They also did plumbing work for me. Their work is quality work. They are reliable. They get the job done right the first time. They do an excellent job at a reasonable price. I will use this company in the future.

+ 2 moreOverall, it went well. They were responsive and professional, and the quality of the work was good. The only issue was that they had to come back three times to get the roof leaked fixed. It was in a difficult spot (where chimney meets the roof) and they got it right in the end without any extra charges.
