Overall, the provider was very thorough, very professional, and very prompt. He provided the inspection report the day after the inspection and was very good at explaining his findings during the inspection. I would use him again.

Let me first start out by saying Ric Davis is the best in the business! He makes this process very educational but also understandable. This is my second inspection by Mr. Ric Davis and I didn't get the first house thank GOD!! He goes through every nook and cranny nothing goes undetected by Mr. Ric Davis. We ended up going with the second home we are so satisfied with the outcome thanks to Mr. Ric Davis. You will never be forgotten thank you so much!!!!

Great Customer Service over the Phone with Cathy and I can't say enough about how thorough Ric was during the Inspection. He explained to me and my Wife that he's working for us and had our best Interest at heart not the Seller. He treated my wife as if she's his own Daughter buying a House and explained everything that needs to be done to the House. Cathy lovely on phone from get go. Ric on time and truly treated me as "if I was his own daughter". 3500+ square foot home in Bloomfield on Pine Lake. Under promise and over deliver is this guy! Stayed 3+ hours, took 200+ photos, walked and explained every inch. I'm visiting from out of town and nervous w/o my spouse walking through inspection. He made me feel so much better afterwards with his explanations. Really, I cannot gush enough about how he went over EVERYTHING with a fine tooth comb. Showed up early and went through home with a fine tooth comb. Took pictures and explained everything he found in the home. Takes his time and doesn't rush. Very knowledgeable of what it takes to do a home inspection.

Great service, stopped us from buying a house that was falling apart. He walked me through the whole inspection, stating what he saw, where it was, how to look for it, what was wrong and if repair could be pricy. I will be using Davis Inspection for my next home inspection.

Ric was so wonderful to work with! My husband and I are first time home buyers and not only did he tell us he would advise us as if we were his children but he absolutely showed that to us in his care inspecting this home we are looking into! He came in the house and did a thorough visual inspection of the basement and the two floors above and checked the attic. He took air samples of the outside air and of the inside air in the areas of concern. He provides us wit a detailed air quality report within a couple of days and talked us through the results. Very professional, very thorough, very knowledgeable.

Ric was amazing! I cannot begin to say how glad I am that we decided to use his services. We contacted him after using Angie's List to find a home inspector. I read many reviews, researched online home inspection certifications (ASHI, NAHI, and interNACHI), and contacted several home inspectors before deciding to hire Ric. From the first phone call, I was assured that I made the right decision. Kathy was extremely nice and very professional, and she even called me back on a Sunday evening! Scheduling was a breeze. The day of the inspection I was very nervous. Being a first time home buyer, I did not know what to expect. Ric arrived on time, was very professional and knowledgeable. He not only inspected the home but answered all of our questions, taught us things to look out for and how to take care of various systems, and even while pointing out all of the problems with the home helped us to put them into perspective. The home inspection process was so overwhelming (especially when having no background or experience) and Ric helped us to be able to make a rational decision regarding the purchase of the home. His report was delivered via e-mail the very next morning. It was full of photographs of various issues to remind us where the problem areas were located and everything he had told us the day before was there in writing. Later when I had questions, I was able to call and speak with Kathy who immediately was once again so helpful. If you are looking for an inspector, I highly recommend Ric. Ric is awesome! Total professional and very reassuring that he would assist us throughout the process - which he did. We had a flood in the basement during the August rains and found mold afterwards in our basement. I searched Angie's List and found Ric, who was highly recommended. I contacted him and a time was arranged to perform an air quality test. Ric was timely, thorough and very straight-forward in letting us know what he saw and gave recommendations of how to proceed. He took the time to walk around the perimeter of the house as well so he could assess ways to address correcting the flooding issue for future. (We did not contract for this - nor were we charged) He assured us he was an independent 3rd party available to help guide us through the quote process, and we found his assistance invaluable. Once the remediation work was completed, we had Ric return to perform another test. Again, his service was exceptional. I found the process of dealing with mold to be pretty overwhelming, but Ric was super-supportive and helpful. He encouraged us to call with questions and took time to give us thorough answers. He really assisted us in getting through clean-up and I would use him again -- and would recommend him highly.

Extremely responsive organization. Kathy returned my call on early Friday evening within 30 minutes of leaving a message. Four other companies never called me back. Set up appointment for Sunday morning without any problem. Rick showed up a few minutes early. He spent a solid two hours doing a very thorough home inspection to include going on the roof and attic access locations. Reviewed any and all potential problem areas with us. Very thorough inspection with pictures. Report to follow tomorrow to us. Would highly recommend them and would use them again without a doubt.

I am a home owner that wanted to know the condition of my home. I chose Davis Inspection because of the Angie's List review and the Davis Inspection web site. It was easy to set up an appointment and Ric answered my questions and explained things so they were easy to understand. The report I received was very thorough and gave me a check list of all the things I need to do to make my home safer and more comfortable. The report also breaks down the inspection into things that are okay, things that are not okay but do not present an immediate issue and then the red flag items that should be taken care right away. There were several things on the report I already knew about and then there were several things I would have never thought of and that is exactly why I had the inspection. One of the issues lead me to also get an air quality test, the report from this test was also very detailed and listed everything in the air both outside and inside for comparison. Ric called me to explain the test results from both reports. The inspection covered both inside and outside and was very detailed and thorough. I also like that Ric Davis has a lot of experience and personally does the inspections. I would highly recommend Davis Inspection and would not hesitate to use their service again.

I actually used Ric twice - the first house he found a lot of mold in the basement, so we didn't continue with that purchase. Based on his professionalism and thoroughness on the first inspection, we used him again on a second house. No corner, nook or cranny goes unchecked with Ric, and you receive a full comprehensive report, including pictures, promptly

First off, Rick had great flexibility in meeting me for my inspection-- I called him two days before the weekend, and he was able to get me in on a 9am Saturday timeslot. Other companies only had availability several days out, and for those of us who work during the week, weekends are pretty much our only availability... when you factor in only having 5 or so days to perform an inspection after an accepted Purchase Agreement, you can see where having a flexible and accessible inspector comes in handy. Rick was there early, and explained everything he was going to do. He makes it clear that his business is with me, the customer, and not my Real Estate agent or anyone else. He even goes so far as not recommend contractors to his clients, so that he maintains his neutrality (though, I'm sure if you ask nicely he would recommend someone if you needed it). He specifically told me he would "treat me like his son" when it came to buying this house, and point out everything that concerned him as he would if his own child were buying the home. We began the inspection outside and for anyone who has not had a home inspected before, make sure you follow your inspector around like a puppy and pay attention and ask questions about everything they say. Bring a pen and paper and write things down... Rick will provide a detailed report afterwards, but it is likely you'll have a few immediate action items for yourself... calling your insurance company for a Clue Report, speaking with the city to get a history of permits pulled, speaking with the police department about any activity that may have required their attention,etc. If you are a ladder person, get up on the roof and in the attic with your inspector and have him show you what's going on up there. Rick made sure I understood which vents did what, which siding pieces needed attention, and potential areas of water/ice intrusion. He takes pictures as well for reference later. Overall we had a great experience with Rick and would absolutely use him again. I've already recommended him to family who are buying a house soon. He is a dedicated professional who takes pride in his work... and it really helps that he is a fire fighter as well, so he can point out all potential fire hazards in your home! PS - he is also a local celebrity, ask him about it! Thanks again Rick!

Davis Inspection was hired to perform an inspection on a home that we we had placed an offer on. Inspection was scheduled quickly/promptly (within 1-2 days of our initial call). On inspection day, Mr. Davis' arrival was timely. He actually a bit early, which we appreciated. He started the inspection, kept us apprised of potential issues as necessary, and encouraged us to ask questions. He educated us on options for remediation/repair of the issues noted, including rough estimates of costs in some instances. We particularly appreciate that he was fair, objective, and reasonable identifying the issues with the home's condition, particularly in differentiating the major issues from the minor ones. Mr. Davis' inspection identified a couple of rather large issues (one involving water in home's crawl space) that ultimately resulted in us not moving forward with the purchase. Mr. Davis made great use of technology in completing the inspection, which allowed him to produce a final inspection report in a very timely manner. Again, we appreciated this as, under the terms of the purchase agreement, we were on a fairly tight timeline for identifying inspection issues. Overall, we had a very positive experience with Davis Inspection and would not hesitate to hire him again.

We hired Rick to inspect a home we put a bid on. The house looked clean, but we wanted a professional opinion anyway. He promptly arrived at the scheduled time. He started with a very detailed description of what the inspection would include (and what was not included). He encouraged us to stay with him during the process, and ask as many questions as we would like. He went up on the roof and took several photos with his iPad so we would not have to go up there. He went through the garage, basement, kitchen, laundry, all baths, all bedrooms, basically every room in the house. He did a complete walk-around of the exterior of the house, and notes issues with gutters, grading, landscape problems, etc. In the end, he came up with a good sized list of "issues", but he was very careful to point out which were minor items and those that needed immediate attention. In the end, the list of significant concerns was small, and we decided to buy the home. We felt Rick gave a complete and balanced view of the condition of the home.

My husband and I are in the market for a lakefront cottage. We called Richard to inspect a home in which we had mold concerns. We felt comfortable with Richard within first 5 minutes of meeting him. He was professional, punctual, and personable. He walked my husband and I through the entire inspection, taking the time to explain his thought process. It's obvious he is experinced and knows what he is talking about. In the end we passed on the home due to other issues that were uncovered due to the inspection. He saved is from buying what is really a year down! The realtor ended up taking house off market to list again in the spring as a tear down for $40000 less! All because of Richards knowledge! Very detailed report to back all his findings! He presents the facts! This company is top notch and will use again!

It was a pleasant experience from the phone call to make the appointment through the actual inspection process. Richard was right on time and got started as soon as he stepped out of his truck. He is very professional and has a great eye for spotting things many people would overlook. Not only did he point out current issues with the home but he offered suggestions to help avoid future issues.

Rick did an amazing job and saved us from buying a money pit!! He started with the exterior and found serious issues and explained to us all the possibilities we were dealing with for a repair and the possible costs. He took the time to answer all of our questions and walked us around the property to show us exactly what he had found. At that point we decided to walk away from the house and stopped the inspection. Instead of leaving immediately, Rick walked us through the interior of the house and gave us a lesson on what to look for when considering a home purchase. It was a really great lesson. Mr. Davis completed a home inspection on a house I was planning to buy. I was very pleased with his knowledge, professionalism, and patience. He took his time, and made sure to show and explain things clearly to me throughout the inspection. I felt he was sincere and looking out for my interests, sharing the information I needed to make an informed decision about my home purchase. Mr. Davis stated that he would advise me as if I were his daughter, and I feel he did just that. Mr. Davis demonstrated professionalism and clear boundaries regarding conflicts of interest. He was looking out for me, his client, not a realtor or contractor "friend". Mr. Davis was concerned about the poor workmanship on the home I was going to purchase (ie incorrectly installed shingles, gutters, roof, wiring, etc.), and also pointed out other things that would need to be done to prevent water/ mold problems in the future. He gave me clear, honest information about how serious each concern was and the potential for problems down the road. This information led me to the decision not to purchase the home. Although I loved the house, and was disappointed, I was very thankful for the information prior to the purchase. The home inspection was money very well- spent, in my opinion. Mr. Davis is a top- notch home inspector, and I would recommend him to anyone. In fact, I will be hiring him again in the near future when I find another home.

Very professional. We found out within 20 minutes that the house we were planning to spend over 180,000 dollars on was definitely not worth the money! While we were upset that we had NOT found our dream house, we felt relieved that we didn't buy a home that was infested with carpenter ants, carpenter bees and more. Also, he showed us that the house had rotting wood underneath fresh paint that the owner obviously was trying to hide. While we were embarrassed that we didn't see all of these issues ourselves, we were very happy that we had sought out a professional like him that took time with us and educated us on what to look for in our future home search.
