Somerset Painting & Professional Improvements

Somerset Painting was contracted to paint our aluminum sided home on June 2019. They provided a detailed 14 page proposal and a price which we accepted. The team of Stephanie and Michael performed the preparation and painting as described in the proposal. They did a fantastic job in the detailed preparation and finished product. The job included shutters, trim and whole house, each of a different color We are extremely satisfied with their work prep and cleanup. We would highly recommend Somerset for any exterior or interior painting project you may have.

Excellent! It was the second time we've hired Somerset Painting. The first job was to stain our banister. We were so happy with the quality, professionalism, and overall end result, that when we were ready to paint our interior we called Somerset again. They did not disappoint!

Excellent! Very Professional, communicative, conscientious, industrious, amazing attention to detail, and generally fun with which to work. Further, connected me with a color coordinator/designer who was able to produce computer renditions of what the house would look like with different color combinations. Extraordinarily graphic and accurate. Fun project with a result that was better than expected.

Okay I learned my lesson. I have used Somerset before and was very happy but they are a little bit more expensive. So for this project I thought I would save a little money and I tried another national company. They came out, gave me an estimate, and then I didn't hear back from them. I sign the contract and didn't hear back. I tried to give them a deposit and didn't hear back. Finally I called the main number and they said oh sorry want can't fit you in for 10 weeks. So I did what I should have done in the first place and called Somerset. They were very responsive and did a great job. Lesson learned.

I was very surprised because the ad on Angie's List stated they serviced zip code 48146 (Lincoln Park). The phone was answered with a simple "hello". The woman stated that they only service Oakland County. Seems like a small thing, but I was irritated at the unprofessional ad and phone response. Waste of time to research the company and read reviews.

Our 1940 two story home with lower brick and upper James Hardie siding had the exterior painting done in the promised time frame. The 3 man crew was friendly, prompt, and professional and cleaned up completely when finished. Project was within budget. I am very disappointed in the process of the job. Our first appointment was cancelled. The original crew was supposed to arrive at 12:30 p.m. I had to call at 12:40 due to no one arriving. I was told that the crew was running 3 hours behind. I told them to arrive as soon as possible. Shortly afterwards, I received a phone call saying the crew was in an accident and the job needed to be rescheduled. On the rescheduled day of trying to get the job done, the crew was supposed to arrive at 9:30 a.m. After 9:40 a.m, I called the crew chief and he was surprised no one arrived. He told me that he would arrive in an hour. At 10:40, no one arrived, so I called again. The crew chief told me that the painter was pulled over by the police and that he was sending another painter to do the job. The original painter arrived 3 hours late due to getting pulled over by the police. He arrived at 12:30. The crew chief of the second crew was receptive to my calls. The overall job was fine; however, I did have to call back to change the paint alignment. I will not call this company again, nor will I recommend them to anyone.

Went very well. The crew that came to the house were not the original one's scheduled, but they did a great job. Very pleased.

Crews did a great job, and were completely professional. Somerset's estimate was very competitive with other estimates we had received. Also, the owner, Rick Hartsell, donates a portion of his profits to eliminating child trafficking, and is very involved in efforts to rescue these young girls, and provide them financial assistance so they can live independently. So when you hire Somerset, not only do you get a job well done, but you can feel good that some of the money you paid is going to a worthy cause.

I contacted Rick at Somerset and he came out and looked at what I wanted done on my 90 year old house. It had cedar shake that was well past its prime and I knew it would be a good amount of work to remove everything from the house, including the second story, which has a high peak. The workers were excellent. They stripped off the old siding the day before they installed the new siding, so my house was never unprotected. They cleaned up and left a dumpster to keep the old materials in, then took it all away after they were done. They also painted the wood that was not removed, so I didn't have to climb up on a ladder to do any extra work. Overall, I am very pleased, and the neighbors are too!

Stephanie and her crew did a great job—our kitchen looks fabulous. She was also knowledgeable on paint colors and helped me choose the perfect colors for our new look.

Our Chimney had woodpecker damage. - We thought the boards needed to be replaced - Somerset suggested patching instead ---- Turned out great A Gutter was clogging, retaining water, harboring bees or wasps and growing weeds. - The gutter cleaning guys would not touch it! - Somerset suggested a wider gutter with a steeper grade -- would handle more water -- would move it along faster ---- Works great! Our garage floor was epoxied by previous owners. - after a few years it started to fail - we tried self repairs w/o success - Somerset suggested starting over -- grinding it all off -- new epoxy -- Topcoat is a non-slip surface ---- We are very pleased with the new floor! All jobs were completed on time and at the quoted price!

Everyone appeared to have a very positive attitude. Therefore, the job was well done. William had the ability to organize the work load to meet the deadline. After the job was complete, they cleaned up and rearranged the furniture. I am very happy with the job.

Brad Ellison provided a very detailed estimate for my project. It includes painting my 2nd floor railing painting on my porch, Completed last month and full house painting in the spring. Luis did a fabulous job of my porch painting. Excellent quality and price.
